Hello. My name is Steve, and I am a recovering political optimist.

Let’s be honest: it’s so easy to complain about politics. It’s like yelling at your television or pounding your car’s dashboard while listening to AM talk radio or the news.

Whoops, I am dating myself. I meant it’s like yelling at your Wi-Fi router when Netflix buffers—you know it won’t fix anything, but it just feels right.

Everyone from your grumpy uncle to the teenager live-streaming a protest on TikTok is angry about the “state of our nation.” But here’s the rub: everyone has always been furious about the state of the nation. It’s practically a national pastime.

Seriously—scroll back through history (or for the more analog among us, pick up a dusty book): 10 years ago, people were mad. 50 years ago, angrier. 100 years ago? Pitchforks and torches. And 200 years ago? Still mad—just with worse hygiene and more powdered wigs.

This isn’t because something is radically different now. It’s because the people without power have always wanted to pry it from the cold, manicured hands of those who have it. And the people who do have power? They’re doing everything possible to make sure they keep it, preferably without getting caught in a compromising Snapchat.

So, how do we fix this? Well, spoiler alert: we won’t fix anything if we keep pretending our political system runs on “principles” or “policy” or “serving the public good.” That’s adorable. No, the actual political algorithm is embarrassingly simple. It comes down to the unholy trinity of how America really works: three variables: power, money, and sex. That’s it. That’s the whole formula. Everything else is set dressing.

  • If you’ve got money, you can buy power and sex.
  • If you’ve got power, you can print money and attract sex.
  • And if you’ve got sex—well, depending on how you market it, you can leverage that into both money and power.

Welcome to Politics 101, also known as “America’s Other Oldest Profession.”

So yes, there’s always a low rumble in the background about a revolution, a reset, or some magical third party riding in on a unicorn named Reform. But here’s the inconvenient truth: people have been predicting “the big shake-up” for centuries. And each time, the power, money, and sex just rearrange themselves like a political Rubik’s Cube. New faces, same system. Different scandals, same variables.

The only real way to reset the system? Cut off the fuel supply. Eliminate the political corruption. And no, not with angry hashtags or moral grandstanding. I mean, actually stop incentivizing the corrupt behavior.

Because as long as our political class has easy access to the unholy trinity—money, power, and sex—they will continue to do what they’ve always done: use your outrage as a talking point and your vote as a stepping stone.

Bottom line…

So, how do we change our nation?

Well, we start by growing up. We stop pretending our political heroes are saints. We stop handing out blank checks to sociopaths in flag pins. And we stop fueling the system with blind loyalty and clickbait-driven outrage. Until then, keep your expectations low, your sarcasm sharp, and your wallet out of reach.

Worshipping politicians like saints or celebrities is peak 21st-century absurdity—because nothing screams “healthy democracy” like turning mediocre public servants into untouchable demigods. Forget policies, just slap their face on a mug, scream their name at rallies, and treat every vague tweet like a passage from a sacred text. Criticize them? You’re a heretic. Hold them accountable? You must be part of the grand conspiracy. It’s a fan club masquerading as civic engagement, where blind loyalty replaces critical thought and elected officials morph into ego-inflated influencers who think waving from a podium is equivalent to leadership. Spoiler: it’s not. But hey, who needs functioning governance when you’ve got merch?

After all, if history teaches us anything, it’s that complaining is eternal. But corruption? That’s bipartisan.

Today, I will be introducing the Assault Weapons Ban of 2025, a bill that would ban the sale, manufacture, import, and transfer of military-style assault weapons.

Since 2006, there have been 486 mass shootings involving assault weapons. Hundreds and hundreds of Americans have been killed in these mass shootings. This bill is a way to attack that massive threat to our safety and security.

Dianne Feinstein introduced the first Assault Weapons Ban 31 years ago after a school shooting in Stockton, California. For 10 years, that bill had a dramatic impact on mass shootings and mass casualties. But when that expired, mass fatalities and gun shootings went up by 236%.

The impact was that dramatic. It's time to pass an Assault Weapons Ban again. It's time to protect our communities from senseless gun violence.

It's time to bring back that powerful, common-sense reform again. It's time for the Assault Weapons Ban of 2025.

Fully automatic military-grade weaponry has been effectively banned for civilian use since the Firearm Owners’ Protection Act of 1986, which prohibited the sale of new machine guns to the general public. Since then, legally owned automatic weapons have been tightly regulated, require extensive background checks, and are incredibly rare and expensive. Despite media portrayals, there is essentially no functional difference between semi-automatic pistols and rifles—both fire one round per trigger pull. The primary differences are cosmetic and ergonomic, such as stock design, barrel length, or accessory rails, none of which affect the core firing mechanism.

The police have no legal duty to protect individual citizens who are not in custody, a fact affirmed by multiple court rulings, including the U.S. Supreme Court. While law enforcement plays a critical role in public safety, officers cannot be everywhere at once and often arrive only after a crime has occurred. In life-threatening situations, especially those involving multiple or heavily armed assailants, individuals must rely on themselves for immediate protection. Firearms can provide the necessary means to defend one’s home and loved ones when seconds count and help is minutes away.

It is a proven fact that gun control laws do not stop criminals, the mentally unstable, or terrorists from committing violence, because by their very nature, these individuals do not respect laws. They frequently bypass legal channels altogether, obtaining weapons through black markets, theft, or straw purchases. In many cases, attackers don’t even rely on guns, instead using knives, vehicles, or improvised weapons to intimidate, harm, or kill. Restrictive gun laws primarily impact innocent law-abiding citizens, leaving them defenseless while doing little to deter those intent on causing harm.

Progressive communist democrats consistently push for sweeping gun control measures while turning a blind eye to the rampant violence plaguing inner cities, where they govern, areas where minority-on-minority crime is disproportionately high. Instead of cracking down on gang activity, enforcing existing gun laws, or prosecuting repeat violent offenders, they pursue policies that disarm law-abiding citizens and weaken police authority.

This ideological obsession with gun restrictions often serves more as political theater than a genuine public safety strategy. Meanwhile, the communities they claim to protect are left to suffer under rising crime, as criminals continue to operate with impunity. Rather than face the hard truths about crime, accountability, and cultural decay in these urban centers, progressive leaders choose to scapegoat guns and lawful gun owners, leaving the most vulnerable without real protection.

THE MARXIST DEMOCATS JOIN THE COMMUNISTS TO CELEBRATE MAY DAY 2025

Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think that communism would not only be an acceptable topic of discussion outside of college campuses, but also see communists openly welcomed into the White House and appointed to positions of power by Presidents Obama and Biden?

Nor did I ever consider that the center-left Democrat Party, with an overwhelming number of patriotic veterans, would be taken over by radical hardcore communists and tilt hard-left.

Neither did I believe that I would see the members of the mainstream media bow down to their corporate leadership and openly lie about factual matters – in essence, becoming the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.

In many countries, May Day is synonymous with International Workers’ Day, or Labor Day, which celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labor movement, primarily the achievement of an 8-hour workday. However, today, May Day is associated with a celebration of Marxism, Communism, and despotic totalitarian governments and their sycophants.

Look around you...

Democrats, many of whom are either apathetic fools or useful idiots, are the very people who, by their sheer numbers, are destroying our healthcare, education, judicial, retirement, and cultural infrastructure. While some may prove to be somewhat law-abiding, hard-working individuals, they are still willing to provide aid and comfort to an ideological enemy that threatens to enslave them, if not consume them outright.

Politicians are running scared...

The pandering politicians standing alongside Marxists and Communists no longer fear the voting public primarily because the public has proven in the past that they are mostly incapable of translating public sentiment into political action, except under the most extraordinary or dire circumstances.

This leaves the politicians to pander to organized labor, special interests, and foreign sovereign sponsors that seem willing to cut quid pro quo deals to instruct their voting members, perhaps under the duress of being canceled, to vote for a particular candidate or measure.

Union thuggery was augmented by Antifa, Black Lives Matter, Queers for Palestine, and the Intifada Squad…

Union goons have always existed to enforce the will of the sometimes corrupt union leaders. They care about maintaining and expanding their “dues” income stream without regard for the legitimate concerns of their members. With unions, it is all about money and politics—and, for the union leaders, the opportunity to live large like the corporate executives they so disdain.

Now, millions of corporate dollars are flowing to activist organizations and their mostly anonymous leadership in a time-honored protection racket.

Today, the union goons are supplemented by a paid and unpaid cadre of community activists, organizers, and professional agitators who whip the crowd into a frenzy, commit provocative acts, and then fade into the background lest they be identified, investigated, and prosecuted.

And, today on May Day, will we recognize the thuggery of the communist-infiltrated unions which are slowly bankrupting our nation with corrupt pension programs and turning government workers into a self-sustaining political force that is fast reaching the critical mass when they can elect their own politicians? Or recognize the malignant Marxist origins and ideologies of those who represent today’s laborers.

There is no doubt that we are majorly screwed by the Democrat Party and all of its octopus-like appendages, including the media moguls, tech tyrants, Marxist foundations, and their shock troops like Antifa, Black Lives Matter, Queers for Palestine, and other radical groups.

DONALD TRUMP: 100 DAYS UNDER PROGRESSIVE COMMUNIST DEMOCRAT RESISTANCE AND ATTACK

The “magic” of the first 100 days in a presidency is like a presidential honeymoon period. There’s a sense of fresh momentum, political capital is at its peak, and both the public and Congress are usually more open to bold ideas.

Unlike other presidents, Trump’s first 100 days of his second term were only a continuation of the progressive communist democrat attack that started even before he announced his candidacy for his first term.

Americans should be relieved that President Donald Trump has, at least temporarily and at grave risk to his life,  turned the nation’s drift away from secular communism and has become one of the most consequential presidents in modern history.

100 DAYS OF HOAXES: Cutting Through the Fake News

Since President Donald J. Trump took office 100 days ago, it has been a nonstop deluge of hoaxes and lies from Democrats and their allies in the Fake News suffering from terminal cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

In no particular order, here are some of the most egregious hoaxes peddled by the usual suspects so far in President Trump’s second term:
•HOAX: Fake News CNN attempted to “fact check” President Trump’s claim that the Biden Administration spent millions on “making mice transgender.”

•HOAX: Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) and Chicago Public Schools officials claimed, without bothering to verify, that ICE agents had conducted a “raid” at an elementary school — a false claim echoed by media outlets, including the Chicago Tribune.
•FACT: It was actually the U.S. Secret Service investigating a threat unrelated to immigration.

•HOAX: Far-left influencers and other leftist hacks falsely claimed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Elon Musk were out to “cut Social Security.”
•FACT: They were referencing an interview in which Musk was clearly referring to the tremendous amount of waste, fraud, and abuse within entitlement programs.

•HOAX: The media smeared DOGE as “young, inexperienced engineers” engineering a “government takeover.”
•FACT: In reality, DOGE is led by seasoned industry professionals, including successful CEOs who paused their lives to aid in the effort of streamlining government and holding the bureaucracy accountable.

•HOAX: NBC’s Peter Alexander peddled the lie that “constituents in some traditionally red districts” were unhappy with President Trump’s effort to cut waste, fraud, and abuse in government.
•FACT: The same “protests” cited by the Fake News were funded and organized by far-left special interest groups.

•HOAX: NPR claimed NASA astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore — who were stuck on the International Space Station for more than nine months following problems with their spacecraft — were “not stranded.”
•FACT: NPR itself had described the astronauts as stranded in prior reporting, and only seemed to take issue with the description once President Trump and Elon Musk made it a priority to bring them home.

•HOAX: A foreign Fake News outlet reported that President Trump “shut down” the British prime minister during a news conference.
•FACT: In reality, President Trump was simply moving on from a reporter who was trying to goad the two leaders into division.

•HOAX: NPR falsely claimed the White House was actively searching for a new secretary of defense.
•FACT: This lie was immediately shut down by multiple Trump Administration officials, including President Trump himself.

•HOAX: The Fake News attempted to paint illegal immigrant gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia as an innocent “Maryland father” who was unjustly deported by the Trump Administration — and actively censored the truth about him.
•FACT: Abrego Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador and was deported to his home country amid overwhelming evidence of his gang affiliation.

•HOAX: Deranged “filmmaker” Michael Moore questioned whether deported illegal immigrants would go on to cure cancer or stop “that asteroid (sic) that’s gonna hit us.”
•FACT: Moore’s statement was a strong early contender for the dumbest, most ridiculous statement of the year considering those deported illegal immigrants were violent criminals.

•FACT: The “advocacy group” was really an astroturfed partisan organization funded by prominent left-wing donors — and accepted fake signatures.

•FACT: That’s not what happened. The individual “approached Border Patrol in Tucson and stated he had entered the U.S. illegally through Nogales. He said he wanted to turn himself in and completed a sworn statement identifying as a Mexican citizen who had entered unlawfully … A few days later, his family presented documents showing U.S. citizenship. The charges were dismissed, and he was released to his family.”

•HOAX: PBS News claimed “DOGE operatives attempted to gain access to secure spaces,” implying they attempted to access classified information without approval.
•FACT: This wasn’t even remotely true.

•HOAX: The AP falsely claimed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said President Trump is “very good friends” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
•FACT: The AP was humiliatingly forced to retract its story, admitting they were wrong. Stephanie Ruhle also had to issue a correction. DNI Gabbard was referencing President Trump’s relationship with Indian PM Narendra Modi.

•HOAX: Student visa holders should have unfettered access to do whatever they want in the United States.

Days after celebrating their switch to 100 percent renewable energy for the first time during a weekday, the electrical grid crashes, bringing everything to a halt in a massive blackout that is now being blamed on a “rare atmospheric event.”

Spain hits first weekday of 100% renewable power on national grid

Spain’s grid ran entirely on renewable energy for the first time on April 16, with wind, solar, and hydro meeting all peninsular electricity demand during a weekday. Five days later, solar set a new record, generating 20,120 MW of instantaneous power – covering 78.6% of demand and 61.5% of the grid mix.

Spain’s grid operator Red Eléctrica has confirmed that renewable energy sources fully met electricity demand across the country’s peninsular system for the first time on April 16.

Wind generated 256 GWh, accounting for 45.8% of total output. Solar followed with 151 GWh, or 27%. Hydroelectric sources added 129 GWh, making up 23.1% of the mix. Solar thermal contributed 11 GWh, or 2%, while other renewables added another 11 GWh, or 1.9%. Renewable waste generated 1 GWh, or 0.2%.

At 11:15 a.m. that day on April 16, wind and PV combined to generate 100.63% of total demand – a first in Spain’s energy history. Unlike previous milestones, this occurred on a weekday.

On April 21 at 1:35 p.m., solar reached a new record for instantaneous power, generating 20,120 MW – 0.7% higher than the previous record set on July 12, 2024. At that moment, PV accounted for 61.5% of the national mix and 78.6% of demand. <Source>

‘Extremely rare weather phenomenon’ behind Europe power cuts - as Portugal blames ‘fault’ in Spanish network

Portugal’s grid operator, REN (Rede Eletrica Nacional) claimed interruptions to the country’s power supply were the result of a “fault in the Spanish electricity grid”. They said this was related to a “rare atmospheric phenomenon”, namely “extreme temperature variations”.

Due to these variations in the interior or Spain, there were “anomalous oscillations in the very high voltage lines (400 KV), which is a phenomenon known as ‘induced atmospheric vibration’”. “These oscillations caused synchronization failures between the electrical systems, leading to successive disturbances across the interconnected European network.”

Spain has yet to respond to the claim.

REN added that normalization of the system could take up to a week. Earlier, it was claimed by the head of Spain’s electricity network restoring power could take around six to 10 hours.

Entire airports and metro systems have come to a halt due to the outage. Barajas Airport in Madrid remains without power while the Valencia metro suspended all services. Metrovalencia, which encompasses both metro and tram services in Valencia, said there was disruption due to a “general power outage”.

It added: “The extent and duration of the outage are unknown.”

Spain’s national rail operator, Renfe, said no single service had been able to leave stations following the outage. Parts of Madrid underground have been evacuated and traffic lights in the city are not working, local media reported. Phone lines are down across the country too.

There are also reports of outages in France and Germany. France’s grid operator RTE issued a statement saying parts of the country briefly lost power.

Red Eléctrica, Spain’s national grid operator, said it was working to restore power following a system failure across the entire peninsula. “The causes are being analysed and all resources are being dedicated to resolving it,” the operator explained. Speaking at a press conference, CEO Eduardo Prieto said it could take “between six and 10 hours” to solve the issue.

The Spanish government has convened a crisis meeting due to outage, according to the El Pais paper. “A crisis committee has been set up to manage the situation [in Spain]. At this stage there’s no evidence yet regarding the cause of the massive blackout,” an official briefed on the situation said.

‘Induced atmospheric vibration’: Did rare weather event cause Europe’s blackout?

Preliminary reports out of Europe about the massive blackout that left millions powerless say the cause may have been something called “induced atmospheric vibration,” a rare phenomenon where weather changes affect power lines.

The outage was centered in Spain on Monday, where the lack of power caused widespread chaos. Renfe, Spain’s national railway company, said on social media that the “entire national electricity grid was cut off” at 12:30 local time.

It brought parts of Spain and Portugal to a standstill, grounding planes, halting public transport, and forcing some hospitals to suspend routine operations.

Portuguese energy company REN suggested that “due to extreme temperature variations in the interior of Spain, there were anomalous oscillations in the very high voltage lines (400 KV), a phenomenon known as ‘induced atmospheric vibration,’” according to a BBC.com report. <Source>

After an extensive search of the technical literature, and as far as I can determine, “induced atmospheric vibration” is not a recognized scientific term, at least not in any standard atmospheric science, meteorology, or energy grid management context.

It sounds like bureaucratic nonsense: a made-up or wildly stretched phrase trying to make a natural weather fluctuation or failure sound mysterious, technical, and outside human control.

  • “Induced” implies something was triggered or caused (but by what? No one says).

  • “Atmospheric vibration” is meaningless in the context of renewable energy generation. The atmosphere always has natural fluctuations — wind, pressure waves, etc. — but the idea that some “vibration” killed the grid is nonsense.

In plain English: It’s likely just a fake, cover-up term designed to avoid admitting the blackout was caused by bad planning, no storage, and overreliance on unstable renewables without proper backup systems.

If politicians and their “experts” use “induced atmospheric vibration,” it’s almost certainly an excuse to deflect blame.

Imagine that…

After Spain’s fearless leaders popped champagne bottles and declared Spain’s triumphant entry into the age of pure renewable energy, during a weekday, no less, they now sit in the dark, sweating before useless electric fans and trying to remember what a functioning society felt like.

The cause? Oh, just a “rare atmospheric event,” they say. Nothing to see here, just a little accident of nature where the sun didn’t cooperate, and — oops — apparently no one remembered to plan for that possibility when designing our shiny new grid.

It’s truly comforting to know that billions of euros, years of think tank reports, and endless smug press conferences have brought Spain to this: a country that can power itself on rainbows and good intentions, but not, you know, actual electricity when the weather gets moody.

And where were Spain’s beloved “expert planners”? Probably still busy writing victory speeches while the grid was wobbling like a drunk tourist in Ibiza. Resilience? Backup systems? Energy storage? Boring. Too “negative.” Much better to aim for headlines about “historic firsts” and hope no one notices the foundations were built out of fairy dust and TED Talks.

Meanwhile, on the ground, it’s chaos. No lights. No trains. No cell service unless you stand on one foot and pray to the telecom gods. Hospitals are running on fumes. Supermarkets are a few days away from medieval barter markets.

But don’t worry, the Ministry of Energy assures us this was a “rare event.” Like it somehow excuses designing a national grid that collapses the moment Mother Nature gets a little moody. Maybe next time they can also plan our emergency response based on horoscopes.

The reality is simple: politicians wanted the photo op. Bureaucrats wanted the promotions. Activist “experts” wanted to see their white papers turned into government mandates without any of that pesky engineering or risk management stuff getting in the way.

And the people, those sitting in the dark, burning candles and losing their frozen food, get to pay for their government’s grand experiment in magical thinking.

Spain deserves renewable energy done right. People deserve a clean future that actually works when the weather doesn’t feel like cooperating. The people deserve better than a government that thinks press releases are an acceptable substitute for power plants.

Bottom line…

The official explanation emerging from government and energy officials is that a “rare atmospheric event” triggered the crisis.

Simply put: there was no backup.

While many are trying to paint this as an unforeseen, one-in-a-million occurrence, the truth feels less comforting. Engineers have long warned that a fully renewable grid needs not just generation capacity, but resilience — energy storage, dispatchable backup power, and smart grids capable of managing sudden fluctuations. In a rush to declare a historic victory, it seems Spain may have skipped some crucial steps.

Of course, renewable energy is essential for our future. No one disputes that. However, the grid catastrophe in Spain exposed a hard truth: ideology and optimism alone cannot keep the lights on. Science, engineering, and humility must guide our energy transitions, not headlines and self-congratulation. Wind, solar, and water are not as reliable as clean nuclear energy, a subject that is mainly ignored by the ideological elites.

We are being screwed by our “experts” who are funded by ignorant and/or malicious politicians.

There is but one response to Thompson’s speech: self-serving bullshit!

For years, the mainstream media has operated not as a watchdog for the American people, but as a loyal attack dog for the progressive communist democrat establishment.

Nowhere is this betrayal more glaring than in their shameless cover-up of President Joe Biden’s obvious cognitive decline — a decline so visible that pretending otherwise was a deliberate act of progressive communist democrat propaganda, not journalism.

The press didn’t “miss” Biden’s decline. They chose to look away. They chose to gaslight the public with laughable excuses — calling serious mental lapses “gaffes,” confused ramblings “stuttering,” and public bewilderment “relatability.” They knew exactly what they were doing: building a false narrative, brick by brick, to drag their chosen candidate across the finish line.

This wasn’t incompetence. It was collusion. It wasn’t a coincidence; it was outright corruption.

And it didn’t start with Biden.

The same progressive communist democrat media cabal spent eight years whitewashing the Obama presidency, declaring it “scandal-free” while running interference on one corruption bombshell after another: IRS political targeting, the Benghazi dead, Fast and Furious gun-running, domestic surveillance of journalists, and backdoor deals that would make any honest reporter’s skin crawl.

When Hunter Biden’s foreign cash grabs threatened to expose the ugly truth about the Biden family racket, the press didn’t investigate; they assassinated the messengers. They blocked the story, censored the truth, and labeled factual reporting as “Russian disinformation” without a shred of evidence.

With Biden visibly deteriorating before the world’s eyes, the same media mouthpieces are scrambling to retcon history. Suddenly, they were “unaware.” Suddenly, they “missed the signs.” Suddenly, it was all just an innocent oversight, not the years-long progressive communist democrat conspiracy it was.

This isn’t damage control.

This is a desperate attempt to scrub their fingerprints off the weapon they used against the American people.

Donald Trump just launched a sham investigation into ActBlue, the top campaign contribution processor for Democratic campaigns, including my own.

And we know why — they want to shut down ActBlue.

This is a classic authoritarian move from the Trump administration. Politicizing and weaponizing the Justice Department to go after voters’ power to make an impact on our democracy.

Coming after grassroots donors’ ability to give through ActBlue and other donation processors is silencing voters. It’s a power grab by the right wing. It’s an affront to our democracy. It won’t surprise you to learn that Trump is taking no action to investigate the Republican equivalent of ActBlue — underscoring what a blatantly partisan attack this is.

Right now, our already rigged political system is giving even more power to Elon Musk and the billionaires who seek to sway elections by making massive contributions. The GOP is consolidating power and trying to kneecap our democracy through sham investigations, executive orders, and policies.

Adam Schiff was in San Francisco when his luggage was stolen from his car. So he went to Target to get new bags, and the cashier told him exactly what she thought of guys like Schiff:

And what was most memorable about the experience for me as I went to this target in South San Francisco, 10 o'clock at night, and I'm getting the the toiletries I'm going to need for my next two days in the city.

And I told her. And she basically said, in not so many words, Democrats are assholes. And I thought, you know, if the cashier in South San Francisco at 10 o'clock at night believes that Democrats are assholes because the shampoo is locked up and my stuff got stolen out of the trunk, we've got a major problem that we have to address.
