CONDOMS AS DUAL-USE TECHNOLOGY IN GAZA: QUESTIONABLE HUMANITARIAN AID

It was recently disclosed that the United States was about to provide $50 million to NGOs to provide condoms to Palestinians in Gaza.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has been ordered to halt funding to nongovernmental organizations that supply humanitarian aid to foreign countries until such programs can be reviewed for appropriateness, waste, fraud, and abuse. In a White House press conference with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, it was disclosed that $50 million was to be spent supplying condoms to Palestinians in Gaza. This comes after the revelation that the U.S. provided $15 million in condoms for use by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Of course, these payments might be disguised by the Biden Administration as “black money payoffs” to bribe foreign powers for photo ops and other positive media statements.

Condoms, commonly known for their role in contraception and sexual health, have recently emerged as an unexpected tool in the ongoing conflict between Gaza and Israel.

CONDOM1 C2
In a striking example of dual-use technology, Palestinians have been inflating condoms and using them to carry incendiary devices across the border into Israel. These makeshift devices are designed to start fires once they land on Israeli soil, a tactic that has raised concerns about the intersection of everyday products and unconventional military strategies.

While condoms are designed for personal health and safety, their versatility has made them suitable for various applications in times of conflict, from floating fire-starting devices to being used as balloons for smuggling or surveillance. This creative repurposing of everyday items underscores the resourcefulness in war zones and highlights the lengths individuals and groups will go to adapt in the face of adversity.

Though the innovation of using condoms for such purposes may be seen as an unconventional response to an ongoing humanitarian crisis, it also underscores the complexity of modern warfare, where both technology and basic consumer goods can be redefined for strategic use.

Bottom line…

It is time to stop supporting our enemies. Under these circumstances, providing humanitarian aid is little more than aiding and abetting our enemies.

We are so screwed.
