NATIONAL BLUE FALCON AWARD: SENATOR ED MARKEY OF MASSACHUSETTS

Have you ever wondered why certain Senators like Ed Markey (D-MA) appear insanely stupid?

Ed2 Markey-ma

More Trump fear-mongering and a clear and present danger to America’s national security!

Why wouldn’t Markey be concerned about a senile absentee President/Commander-in-Chief whose decisions appear to be crafted by unelected individuals behind the scenes and who are former Communist/Islamist President Obama’s acolytes?

And let us not forget, Markey is a useful idiot acting on behalf of our enemies…

Markey-logo

NONPROLIFERATION

As a founder of the national Nuclear Freeze movement, Senator Markey has worked to end the proliferation of nuclear weapons since the beginning of his career. While in the House of Representatives, Markey co-founded the Congressional Bipartisan Task Force on Nonproliferation and has consistently spearheaded Congressional efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. Recently, Senator Markey has advocated for over billions in budget cuts to our nation’s wasteful and redundant nuclear defense programs.

Senator Markey’s Smarter Approach to Nuclear Expenditures (SANE) Act would cut $75 billion from the nuclear weapons budget and Hold the LYNE (Low-Yield Nuclear Explosive) Act would prevent the Trump administration from developing low-yield nuclear weapons. With oversight and legislation, the Senator has also consistently fought the nuclear ambitions of North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.  <Source>

Bottom line…

Unilaterally disarming the nuclear arsenal of the United States is an exceedingly dangerous and reckless proposition, undermining the very foundation of national security as the U.S. nuclear deterrent serves as a critical safeguard against existential threats, ensuring that potential adversaries think twice before contemplating aggression.

Disarming without reciprocal action from other nuclear-armed nations would create a power vacuum, emboldening hostile states while simultaneously eroding America’s global influence. The idea of disarming in isolation ignores the realities of international politics, where rogue regimes and adversaries like Russia, China, and North Korea continue to advance their own nuclear capabilities.

Such a move would jeopardize national security and global stability, potentially leaving the U.S. vulnerable to coercion and attack while diminishing its ability to influence world affairs.

The insanity of unilateral disarmament lies in Markey’s insane and stupidly naïve assumption that good intentions can outweigh the international stage’s unpredictable and often adversarial dynamics.

We are so screwed when we ignore the prime directive: “peace through strength.”

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: LYING AND LIABILITIES

We should be wary of any government legislation that attempts to protect or indemnify operators of artificial intelligence platforms from the legal consequences of misinformation created by an AI system trained to reject the truth in favor of regime narratives and outright lies.

Ai-lie

In a conversation with Bari Weiss of The Free Press, iconic tech entrepreneur Marc Andreessen explains the government-corporation symbiotic relationship and how regulation can be used to implement AI censorship machines that intentionally lie to their public users and advance the government narrative of the day.

Marc Andreessen explains that AI is following a path similar to social media, becoming a "censorship machine" right from the start, as AI companies intentionally incorporate censorship practices learned from social media. He emphasizes that these decisions are "100% intentional," with companies hiring individuals from the social media sector to implement these policies. Andreessen argues that AI, unlike social media, is much more dangerous because it could become the "control layer for everything" in the future, including healthcare, education, and government. If AI systems are biased or politically controlled, it could lead to a "hyper Orwellian" society. He also points out that the push for AI regulation by large companies is a tactic of "regulatory capture," where big companies use regulations to secure a monopoly and prevent new competitors from emerging. This, he believes, is a dangerous and strategic move that must be resisted.

This is an example of a government disinformation campaign that cost American lives.

We have already witnessed the extreme consequences of government censorship and lying in the suppression of cheap, available, and effective COVID therapies like Ivermectin in favor of expensive government-subsidized experimental vaccines which were not vaccines and did not prevent or cure the “disease” the purported to cure. We have sworn testimony and documentary evidence that the government coerced social media platform operators into suppressing accurate information that the government later acknowledged as truthful.

Review of the Emerging Evidence Demonstrating the Efficacy of Ivermectin in the Prophylaxis and Treatment of COVID-19

Since 2012, a growing number of cellular studies have demonstrated that Ivermectin has antiviral properties against an increasing number of RNA viruses, including influenza, Zika, HIV, Dengue, and most importantly, SARS-CoV-2. Insights into the mechanisms of action by which Ivermectin both interferes with the entrance and replication of SARS-CoV-2 within human cells are mounting.

Data are also now available showing large and statistically significant decreases in the transmission of COVID-19 among human subjects based on data from 3 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 5 observational controlled trials (OCTs) with 4 of the 8 (2 of them RCTs) published in peer-reviewed journals.

Conclusions:

Meta-analyses based on 18 randomized controlled treatment trials of Ivermectin in COVID-19 have found large, statistically significant reductions in mortality, time to clinical recovery, and time to viral clearance. Furthermore, results from numerous controlled prophylaxis trials report significantly reduced risks of contracting COVID-19 with the regular use of Ivermectin. Finally, the many examples of ivermectin distribution campaigns leading to rapid population-wide decreases in morbidity and mortality indicate that an oral agent effective in all phases of COVID-19 has been identified. <Source>

Government’s Response…

FDA settles lawsuit over ivermectin content that doctors claimed harmed their practice

The US Food and Drug Administration has settled a lawsuit over some of its posts about Ivermectin, including what may have been one of its more popular pandemic-era social media campaigns.

In August 2021, to discourage people from using Ivermectin to prevent or treat Covid-19, the FDA tweeted “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Serious y’all. Stop It.” and posted a similar message on Instagram. The tweet got nearly 106,000 likes.

The agency added that it has “not admitted any violation of law or any wrongdoing, disagrees with the plaintiffs’ allegation that the agency exceeded its authority in issuing the statements challenged in the lawsuit, and stands by its authority to communicate with the public regarding the products it regulates.

“FDA has not changed its position that currently available clinical trial data do not demonstrate that Ivermectin is effective against COVID-19. The agency has not authorized or approved Ivermectin for use in preventing or treating COVID-19.” <Source>

[OCS: The government rarely admits wrongdoing or assumes responsibility for its egregious actions until decades later when it serves no useful political purpose to hide the truth.]

FDA Sued For Concealing Documents on Government Suppression of Ivermectin And Hydroxychloroquine To Treat COVID-19

America First Legal (AFL) has sued the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as well as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for illegally concealing government records related to the suppression of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and Ivermectin to treat COVID-19, despite multiple requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). <Source>

[OCS: If the government had legitimate authority and scientific evidence reinforcing their claims, why are they hiding documents?]

Bottom line...

We must be extremely wary of our elected officials and scrutinize the backgrounds and actions of their appointees. We must guard against the industry-to-government revolving door and protect against an activist judiciary that implements binding rules and regulations using prearranged lawsuits, capitulations, and consent decrees to sneak past legislators.

We are so screwed.

FTC WANTS TO SCREW YOU IN FAVOR OF LABOR UNIONS

I used to believe that the FTC was one of the government’s most honest and helpful agencies. This is no longer true, as the radical progressive communist democrats on the Commission promoted progressive values and pandered to their pro-union backers.

Ftc-union

The FTC mission…

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) primarily focuses on protecting competition and consumer welfare, ensuring that consumers have access to a wide variety of goods and services at competitive prices rather than directly advocating for or protecting specific groups of workers, including union employees. The FTC’s antitrust enforcement aims to prevent anti-competitive behavior such as monopolies, price-fixing, and anti-competitive mergers, which could harm consumers and stifle market competition.

The perversion of the FTC by the progressive communist democrats pandering to their union backers…

Ftc-hdr
FTC Challenges Kroger’s Acquisition of Albertsons

Today, the Federal Trade Commission sued to block the largest proposed supermarket merger in U.S. history—Kroger Company’s $24.6 billion acquisition of the Albertsons Companies, Inc.—alleging that the deal was anti-competitive.

The FTC charges that the proposed deal will eliminate fierce competition between Kroger and Albertsons, leading to higher prices for groceries and other essential household items for millions of Americans. The loss of competition will also lead to lower quality products and services while narrowing consumers’ choices for where to shop for groceries. For thousands of grocery store workers, Kroger’s proposed acquisition of Albertsons would immediately erase aggressive competition for workers, threatening the ability of employees to secure higher wages, better benefits, and improved working conditions.

Harm to Consumers

In addition to raising grocery prices, the FTC alleges that Kroger’s acquisition of Albertsons would diminish their incentive to compete on quality. Today, Kroger and Albertsons compete to improve their stores in many ways, including offering fresher produce, higher quality products, improved private label offerings, a broader array of in-store services, flexible store and pharmacy hours, and curbside pickup services.

The FTC charges that the deal would eliminate head-to-head price and quality competition, which have driven both supermarkets to lower their prices and improve their product and service offerings. If the merger occurs, grocery prices will increase, and Kroger and Albertsons’ incentive to improve product quality and customer service will decrease, further harming customers.

Harm to Workers

Kroger and Albertsons are the two largest employers of union grocery labor in the United States. They actively compete against one another for workers. The two companies also try to poach grocery workers from each other, especially in local markets where they overlap. Currently, most workers for both supermarket chains are members of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union.

UFCW and other unions today leverage the fact that Kroger and Albertsons are separate and competing companies. Unions push for both supermarket chains to negotiate better employment terms for union grocery workers, especially when negotiating over collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).

However, a combined Kroger/Albertsons would gain increased leverage over workers and their unions—to the detriment of workers, the FTC alleges. The combined Kroger and Albertsons would have more leverage to impose subpar terms on union grocery workers that slow improvements to wages, worsen benefits, and potentially degrade working conditions. In some regions, such as in Denver, the combined Kroger/Albertsons would be the only employer of union grocery labor. Union grocery workers’ ability to leverage the threat of a boycott or strike to negotiate better CBA terms would also be weakened.

<Source>

[OCS: Instead of allowing two compatible companies to combine to respond to increasing competition from companies such as Amazon, Walmart, and Costco, the FTC is ignoring efficiencies of scale and lowering operational costs to artificially increase the cost of labor.]

Thank heaven for Donald Trump…

Lina Khan, the current chair of the Federal Trade Commission, is associated with a radical shift in antitrust and regulatory policies, primarily due to her leftist, pro-labor viewpoint.

Her approach to antitrust enforcement diverges from traditional economic views, advocating for stronger regulation of large corporations, particularly tech giants, to promote competition, fairness, consumer protection, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Khan’s radicalism stems from her belief that unchecked corporate power exacerbates inequality, undermines democracy, and harms workers. This perspective aligns her with the broader progressive movement, where she has garnered approval from influential leftist figures like Senator Elizabeth Warren and Senator Bernie Sanders.

Warren and Sanders have long championed antitrust reforms and labor protections, supporting Khan’s initiatives to promote economic justice for workers. Together, they represent a growing push for more robust government intervention to dismantle concentrated corporate power and ensure that pro-union policies supersede the need for profits.

From a podcast appearance...

[Lena Khan]

One thing that our lawsuit alleged was that if this merger goes through, it’s going to mean higher grocery prices for shoppers, but it’s also going to be worse for the workers. And this is the first time that the FTC has ever sought to block a merger, not just because it will be bad for consumers, but also because it will be bad for workers. And especially in recent decades, antitrust enforcers had not really been focused on the worker harms as much.

And that’s something we’ve really looked to change. So the complaint lays out how previously, when there has been competition between Kroger and Albertsons, that the workers at each store were able to use that competition as leverage when they were trying to bargain. And that if you allow these two companies to merge, that leverage that comes from having a potential alternative employer or an alternative store where customers can go if there’s a strike, but eliminating that leverage point and bargaining leverage would ultimately be bad for workers.

So again, this is still being litigated, but that was in the complaint as an explanation for why this merger would be bad for workers. When the FTC team put on the trial, they actually had on the stand some of the workers that are currently employed by these stores so that they could also share their experience. And just generally, I mean, there’s a lot of empirical evidence that now shows that after mergers, workers have seen pay cuts or a limit in any pay rises.

You often see layoffs. You can see workers have less negotiation power to figure out, will I even have a stable, predictable schedule? And so these are all dimensions of competition on the labor front that are important to protect for people.

Bottom line...

I am not a fan of labor unions whose value to society has outstripped their original function of protecting workers against grievous safety concerns and rapacious corporations exploiting workers. With all the government and legal resources available to employees, unions are little more than self-serving sources of political corruption and a clear and present danger to society.

They artificially inflate labor costs without a corresponding increase in productivity. They refuse to implement automated labor-saving devices. They are about graft and ghost jobs. And they have turned against their members by allowing their progressive communist democrat pals to flood the labor market with illegal aliens and foreign workers.

We are doubly screwed by public service labor unions who duplicate built-in employee protections.

NationalpublicdataNational Public Data Published Its Own Passwords

New details are emerging about a breach at National Public Data (NPD), a consumer data broker that recently spilled hundreds of millions of Americans’ Social Security Numbers, addresses, and phone numbers online. KrebsOnSecurity has learned that another NPD data broker which shares access to the same consumer records inadvertently published the passwords to its back-end database in a file that was freely available from its homepage until today.

In April, a cybercriminal named USDoD began selling data stolen from NPD. In July, someone leaked what was taken, including the names, addresses, phone numbers and in some cases email addresses for more than 272 million people (including many who are now deceased).

NPD acknowledged the intrusion on Aug. 12, saying it dates back to a security incident in December 2023. In an interview last week, USDoD blamed the July data leak on another malicious hacker who also had access to the company’s database, which they claimed has been floating around the underground since December 2023.

Following last week’s story on the breadth of the NPD breach, a reader alerted KrebsOnSecurity that a sister NPD property — the background search service recordscheck.net — was hosting an archive that included the usernames and password for the site’s administrator.

A review of that archive, which was available from the Records Check website until just before publication this morning (August 19), shows it includes the source code and plain text usernames and passwords for different components of recordscheck.net, which is visually similar to nationalpublicdata.com and features identical login pages.

The exposed archive, which was named “members.zip,” indicates RecordsCheck users were all initially assigned the same six-character password and instructed to change it, but many did not. <Source>

Colorado Voting Machine Passwords Posted Online by State Employee: 'The Public Deserves to Know What Happened'

Passwords to Colorado's voting machines have reportedly been online for months after state officials said that they were published accidentally.

The discovery was shared in a mass email Tuesday from Colorado Republican Party Vice Chair Hope Scheppelman. An affidavit included in the email claimed that an unidentified person downloaded a spreadsheet from the Secretary of State's website, which included the passwords, as reported by KUSA.

Secretary of State Jena Griswold said that the "partial" passwords, which are believed to have been online since June, are not enough to access voting machines on their own, as reported by CPR News.

"There are two passwords to get into any voting component, along with physical access. We have layers of security, and out of just an abundance of caution, have staff in the field changing passwords, looking at access logs and looking at the entire situation and continuing our investigation," Griswold told KUSA. <Source>

In today’s digital age, cybersecurity is paramount for organizations of all sizes.

Organizations pour vast resources into building robust defenses—firewalls, encryption, multi-factor authentication, and more—to protect their data from external threats. However, a harsh reality persists: you cannot entirely prevent data breaches from those who hold the keys to the digital kingdom. The insiders, whether they are employees, agents, or even trusted customers, represent a unique and often underestimated threat.

The Insider Threat: When Trust Becomes a Vulnerability

Most companies focus on external threats—hackers, malware, and phishing attacks. While these are certainly critical concerns, the true challenge lies within. Insiders, those with legitimate access to sensitive data, pose a risk that is difficult to mitigate. These individuals have been granted the keys to the kingdom, and with that comes the potential for intentional or accidental misuse.

Imagine a scenario where an employee, out of curiosity or malice, decides to download a massive dataset. While potentially legal and within their access rights, this act could lead to a significant breach if that data falls into the wrong hands. The question then becomes: how do you protect against those who already have access?

Beyond Traditional Defenses: Safeguarding Against Legitimate Access

While traditional cybersecurity measures are essential, they are not enough. Companies must go beyond these defenses to address the threat posed by insiders. Here are some strategies to consider:

  1. Implementing Gross Download Protection: One way to prevent data breaches from legitimate users is to monitor and limit the volume of data that can be downloaded at any given time. Setting thresholds on data extraction can flag suspicious activity, such as gross downloads that deviate from normal behavior patterns. For example, if a customer service agent typically accesses a few records daily, a sudden surge to thousands of records should trigger an alert and initiate an investigation.

  2. Utilizing Timed Requests to Thwart Bots: Bots can be deployed to mimic legitimate users and make numerous, rapid data requests. By implementing timed requests, where data access is throttled or paused after a certain period, companies can make it more difficult for automated processes to scrape large amounts of data undetected. This approach protects against bots and reduces the risk of internal misuse by making it harder to perform mass data extractions quickly.

  3. Isolating Databases via Requester Machines: A more advanced protection method involves isolating databases using the requester’s machine as a reference point. This means that access to certain parts of the database could be restricted based on the machine’s IP address, location, or specific user credentials. By creating isolated segments within the database, companies can ensure that even if an insider has access, they are limited in what they can retrieve at any one time. This compartmentalization of data access is a key strategy in minimizing the impact of any potential breach.

  4. Balancing Security with Accessibility: While these measures can significantly enhance security, it’s crucial to balance them with the need for accessibility. Overly restrictive measures can hinder legitimate work processes, leading to frustration and potential workarounds that might introduce new vulnerabilities. Therefore, the goal is not to create impenetrable walls but to design a system that intelligently monitors and controls access without stifling productivity.

Bottom line...

In the end, the mantra “trust but verify” rings true in the realm of cybersecurity. Companies must acknowledge the reality that those with legitimate access pose a unique challenge to data security. Organizations can better protect themselves from the very people who have the keys to the kingdom by implementing strategies such as gross download protection, timed requests, and database isolation.

However, it’s important to remember that no system is foolproof. Continuous monitoring, regular audits, and a culture of security awareness are essential components of any comprehensive cybersecurity strategy. After all, the best defense is one that evolves with the threat landscape, staying one step ahead of both external attackers and those on the inside.

We are so screwed.

DEREK CHAUVIN: TIME TO RIGHT A MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE

Derek-chauvin

Justice Delayed is Justice Denied.
The system has taken away this man's money, life, freedom, and health after being stabbed 22 times in prison.

The former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter in April 2021 in connection with the in-custody death of George Floyd.

But was Derek Chauvin genuinely guilty of murder? Or was the conviction influenced by political pressure and a public outcry, distorting justice in the process?

In Chauvin’s case, the pressure of the national spotlight overshadowed the legal process. The prosecution’s approach was undeniably influenced by the goal of securing a conviction that would satisfy widespread and violent calls for accountability rather than solely focusing on the evidence.

This political atmosphere created an urgency to deliver a conviction, clouding the decision-making process. There was too much focus on appeasing public demand for justice, driven by political agendas, rather than on the clear and objective application of legal principles. In any criminal case involving such heightened emotion, the delicate balance between public sentiment and legal fairness was breached.

Judicial Misconduct.

Judicial misconduct was evident, particularly in handling pretrial publicity, requests for a change of venue, jury sequestration, and other decisions made regarding the presentation of evidence. The Judge ignored that the City of Minneapolis prematurely settled the civil aspects of the case with a multi-million dollar settlement to Floyd’s estate, further reinforcing the perception of Chauvin’s guilt.

Prosecutorial Misconduct.

The prosecutors pushed beyond the evidentiary boundaries to overemphasize certain aspects of the case to strengthen their narrative and create a false impression that was unacceptably prejudicial to Chauvin, in part with the Judge’s rulings, which were not recorded and made part of the record.

The Evidence: A Matter of Manipulation?

Experts testified that George Floyd’s cause of death was complicated, with factors such as significant pre-existing health conditions, the immediate ingestion of a lethal amount of fentanyl, a prolonged struggle while resisting arrest, and objective evidence that did not match the narrative explaining Floyd’s death.

Significant issues were insufficiently addressed during the trial, making the case appear to hinge too heavily on the emotional weight of the video shot from a sub-optimal angle that distorted the arrest action.

A Scared and Panicked Jury.

Jurors were not isolated from the media and protests. Jurors were driven daily through the damaged riot area and ongoing protest and who were threatened with public backlash, additional unrest, and even personal harm. All of which clouded their ability to make an independent, unbiased decision based purely on the evidence.

Chauvin’s guilt was presumed before the trial even began.

The trial became a political theater stage, where the true nature of justice and the law seemed to take a backseat to the greater societal movements. This shift from legal procedure to political symbolism skewed the conviction, as the case became about achieving social outcomes rather than determining culpability based on the law.

Minnesota Fails.

The Minnesota State Supreme Court neglected its duty to review the Chauvin matter in light of prosecutorial misconduct, a biased judge, a false media narrative, and general circumstances that led to a lynch mob rather than a reasoned resolution of the case.

Bottom line…

Community activists effectively lynched Chauvin, along with the assistance of a corrupt headline-seeking media, a city looking for a fast conviction, and a manifestly incompetent judge.

Is it any wonder that good and decent men and women are avoiding law enforcement as a profession – where the media and politicians can politicize a split-second mistake into a life-altering event that can see a decent officer jailed, bankrupted, and their family destroyed?

It is time for Derek Chauvin to receive a pardon or, at the very least, a new trial for Chauvin to be ordered. However, considering the inappropriate elevation of thug George Floyd, a drug-addled felon, to an iconic civil rights hero by the media, extensive political issues must be overcome.

We are so screwed.

Hurricane Helene reached North Carolina on Friday, September 27, 2024, bringing historic rainfall and resulting floods and landslides, strong winds, and tornadoes generated by the storm. On December 06, 2024, President Biden announced an increase in the paltry federal assistance for those stricken in North Carolina.

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Amends North Carolina Major Disaster Declaration

Today, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available to the State of North Carolina by authorizing an increase in the level of federal funding for debris removal and emergency projective measures undertaken in the State of North Carolina as a result of Tropical Storm Helene.

Under the President’s major disaster declaration issued for the North Carolina on September 28, 2024, federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance at 75 percent of the total eligible costs.

Under the President’s order today, the federal share for Public Assistance has been increased to 90 percent of the total eligible costs, except assistance previously approved at 100 percent for a time limited period <Source>

However, on December 8, 2024, barely one day after Syria was overthrown, the rebels took Damascus. Dictator Bashar al-Assad, the “butcher of Damascus,” fled to Moscow and was granted asylum on “humanitarian grounds,” we see President Biden or his Obama acolyte handlers offering up taxpayer money to what is clearly another terrorist regime, an offshoot of ISIS.

Biden offers a blueprint for US support in Syria, announces airstrikes against ISIS targets

Good afternoon. A lot happening in the Middle East. After 13 years of civil war in Syria, and more than half a century of brutal authoritarian rule by Bashar Assad and his father before him, rebel forces have forced Assad to resign his office and flee the country.

We’re not sure where he is, but there’s word that he’s in Moscow. At long last, the Assad regime has fallen. This regime brutalized and tortured and killed literally hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians.

The fall of the regime is a fundamental act of justice. It’s a moment of historic opportunity for the long-suffering people of Syria to build a better future for their proud country. It’s also a moment of risk and uncertainty.

As we all turn to the question of what comes next, the United States will work with our partners and the stakeholders in Syria to help them seize an opportunity to manage the risk. You know, for years, the main backers of Assad have been Iran, Hezbollah, and Russia. But over the last week, their support collapsed, all three of them, because all three of them are far weaker today than they were when I took office.

And let’s remember why. After Hamas attacked Israel on October the 7th, 2023, when much of the world responded with horror, Iran and its proxies chose to launch a multi-front war against Israel. That was a historic mistake on Iran’s part.

Today, Iran’s main territorial proxy, Hezbollah, is also on its back. And only 12 days ago, I spoke from the Rose Garden about the ceasefire deal in Lebanon, a deal that was only possible because Hezbollah has been badly degraded. Meanwhile, Hamas has been badly degraded as well.

Iran’s own military capabilities have been weakened. Iran tried two times to attack Israel and the United States and build a coalition of countries to directly defend Israel and help defeat those attacks. All this made possible for Iran and Hezbollah to continue to prop up as — impossible, I should say — for them to prop up the Assad regime.

Additionally, Russia’s support for Assad also failed. And that’s because Ukraine, backed by our American allies, has put up a wall of resistance against invading Russian forces, inflicting massive damage on the Russian forces. And that has left Russia unable to protect its main ally in the Middle East.

Excuse my cold. The upshot for all this is, for the first time ever, neither Russia, nor Iran, nor Hezbollah could defend this abhorrent regime in Syria. And this is a direct result of the blows that Ukraine, Israel have delivered upon their own self-defense with unflagging support of the United States.

And over the past four years, my administration has pursued a clear and principled policy towards Syria. First, we made clear from the start that sanctions on Assad would remain in place unless he engaged seriously in a political process to end the civil war, as outlined by the U.N. Security Council Resolution passed in 2015. But Assad refused.

So we carried out a comprehensive sanction program against him and all those responsible for atrocities against the Syrian people. Second, we maintained our military presence in Syria. Our counter-ISIS to counter the support of local partners as well on the ground, their partners, never ceding an inch of territory, taking out leaders of ISIS, ensuring that ISIS can never establish a safe haven there again.

Third, we’ve supported Israel’s freedom of action against Iranian networks in Syria and against actors aligned with Iran who transported lethal aid to Lebanon. And when necessary, I ordered the use of military force against Iranian networks to protect U.S. forces. Our approach has shifted the balance of power in the Middle East.

Through this combination of support for our partners, sanctions, diplomacy, and targeted military force when necessary, we now see new opportunities opening up for the people of Syria and for the entire region. Looking ahead, the United States will do the following. First, we’ll support Syria’s neighbors, including Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Israel, should any threat arise from Syria during this period of transition.

I will speak with leaders of the region in the coming days. I had long discussions with all of our people earlier this morning. And I’ll send senior officials from my administration to the region as well.

Second, we will help stability, ensure stability in eastern Syria, protecting any personnel — our personnel against any threats. And we remain our mission against ISIS will remain maintained, including the security of detention facilities where ISIS fighters are being held as prisoners. We’re clear-eyed about the fact that ISIS will try to take advantage of any vacuum to reestablish its capabilities and to create a safe haven.

We will not let that happen. In fact, just today, U.S. forces conducted a dozen of precision strikes — airstrikes within Syria targeting ISIS camps and ISIS operatives. Third, we will engage with all Syrian groups, including within the process led by the United Nations, to establish a transition away from the Assad regime toward independent, sovereign — an independent — independent, I might not say it again — sovereign Syria, with a new constitution, a new government that serves all Syrians.

[OCS: The United States has seen zero success in nation-building within Muslim nations which do not want nor support our concept of democracy.]

And this process will be determined by the Syrian people themselves. And the United States will do whatever we can to support them, including through humanitarian relief to help restore Syria after more than a decade of war and generations of brutality by the Assad family. And finally, we will remain vigilant.

[OCS: We owe nothing to Syria or its population. Let other Muslim nations in the region provide humanitarian assistance and an effort to rebuild a nation.]

Make no mistake, some of the rebel groups that took down Assad have their own grim record of terrorism and human — human right abuses. We’ve taken note of statements by the leaders of these rebel groups in recent days. And we’re — they’re saying the right things now.

But as they take on greater responsibility, we will assess not just their words but their actions. And we are mindful — we are mindful that there are Americans in Syria, including those who reside there, as well as Austin Tice, who was taken captive more than 12 years ago. We remain committed to returning him to his family.

[OCS: This cannot stand as an excuse to pump billions of dollars into another failed state. Send in special forces to effect a rescue.]

As I’ve said, this is a moment of considerable risk and uncertainty. But I also believe this is the best opportunity in generations for Syrians to forge their own future, free of opposition. It’s also an opportunity through far-from-certain — for a more secure and prosperous Middle East, where our friends are safe, where enemies are contained.

And it would be a waste of this historic opportunity if one tyrant were toppled, and only to see a new one rise up in its place. So it’s now incumbent upon all the opposition groups to seek a role in governing Syria, to demonstrate their commitment to the rights of all Syrians, the rule of law, and the protection of religious and ethnic minorities. These past few days have been historic.

And, you know, it’s in the days ahead that will determine the future of this country. We intend to approach them with strength, wisdom, and resolve. Thank you very much.

God bless America, and God protect our troops. Thank you.

WTF?

The taxpayers of the United States owe nothing to the terrorists in Syria other than a pledge to destroy them and any infrastructure used against America or its allies in the region. Period. Full stop.

Bottom line…

The U.S. has faced significant failures in nation-building efforts in Muslim-majority regions, particularly in the Middle East and South Asia. Despite substantial investments in military, economic, and diplomatic resources, the efforts to establish stable, democratic governments faltered due to several factors. These include a lack of cultural understanding, the complexity of local political dynamics, resistance from entrenched power structures, and the regions’ deep historical and religious divisions.

In countries like Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. encountered difficulties in fostering governance that was both effective and accepted by local populations, leading to political instability and the rise of insurgencies. The failure to create self-sustaining, autonomous institutions and long-term peace ultimately highlighted the limitations of foreign intervention in deeply rooted socio-political environments.

Thank heaven, literally, that President Trump will replace this senile fool and Obama’s acolytes before we are totally screwed.

WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO AMERICANS: CORRUPT PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS + MEDIA PROPAGANDISTS

Policelights

The tragic murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has left many in the business world in shock, but the broader public’s response has been surprisingly indifferent. Despite the depravity of the crime, Americans seem to show little sympathy for the death of a high-profile corporate leader.

There are several reasons for this lack of empathy. First, Thompson’s role at the helm of one of the nation’s largest health insurers has made him a symbol of the corporate elite, often viewed with suspicion and resentment due to the rising healthcare costs and the industry’s perceived greed. As a result, many Americans may feel disconnected or even apathetic when such figures meet untimely ends.

Additionally, public reactions to high-profile crimes are shaped by relentless progressive communist democrat media propaganda demonizing corporate leaders and corporations to promote narratives about societal issues such as income inequality, healthcare reform, and political polarization. The emotional weight of his death has been diluted by the broader media-created context in which it occurred.

A Man Was Murdered in Cold Blood and You’re Laughing?
What the death of a health-insurance C.E.O. means to America.

The particulars of this murder are strange and remarkable: it occurred in public; the suspected shooter went to Starbucks beforehand; he got away from the scene via bicycle; he has not yet been found. But the public reaction has been even wilder, even more lawless. The jokes came streaming in on every social-media platform, in the comments underneath every news article.

“I’m sorry, prior authorization is required for thoughts and prayers,” someone commented on TikTok, a response that got more than fifteen thousand likes.

“Does he have a history of shootings? Denied coverage,” another person wrote, under an Instagram post from CNN.

On X, someone posted, with the caption “My official response to the UHC CEO’s murder,” an infographic comparing wealth distribution in late eighteenth-century France to wealth distribution in present-day America.

That people are making jokes about how the assassin could’ve won the Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest in Washington Square Park? That when a journalist at the American Prospect called an eighty-eight-year-old woman who was aggravated by her poor Medicare Advantage coverage for comment, she wisecracked that she wasn’t the killer—she can’t even ride a bike?

On LinkedIn, where users post with their real names and employment histories, UnitedHealth Group had to turn off comments on its post about Thompson’s death—thousands of people were liking and hearting it, with a few even giving it the “clapping” reaction. The company also turned off comments on Facebook, where, as of midday Thursday, a post about Thompson had received more than thirty-six thousand “laugh” reactions.

What on earth, some people must be asking, is happening to our country? Are we really so divided, so used to dehumanizing one another, that people are out here openly celebrating the cold-blooded murder of a hardworking family man? <Source>

Brian Thompson’s death has elicited little sympathy. I don’t need to spell out why
UnitedHealthcare is egregious among US insurers for charging enormous premiums, then denying care

Memeing a murderer

If you spotted the person who shot Brian Thompson, would you a) turn them in to the police or b) continue to go merrily about your day?

Judging by the gleeful reaction to the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s murder, 99% of the United States would choose option b.

There have been a lot of memes after Thompson was gunned down in what appears to have been a targeted attack in Manhattan.

There have been a lot of jokes about pre-existing conditions and denied coverage.

There have been a lot of shocking stories about how UnitedHealthcare has ruined people’s lives by denying coverage.

What there hasn’t been is very much sympathy for the 50-year-old insurance CEO. In a country that can’t agree on much, an awful lot of people seem to agree with the Clarence Darrow quote: “I’ve never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.”

I don’t need to spell out why Thompson’s death has elicited so little sympathy. It doesn’t matter how great a guy he might have been to his friends and family; he was a top executive at a company that has treated millions of people very poorly.

Health insurance in the US is a racket that is more focused on increasing profits than providing care.

And UnitedHealthcare is particularly egregious when it comes to getting its customers to pay enormous premiums, then turning around and denying them care when they desperately need it. <Source>.

In Nazi Germany, it wasn’t just the card-carrying Nazis who played a role in the horrors of the Holocaust.

A large portion of the population stood by, refusing to acknowledge the atrocities that were unfolding before them. Of the 80 million people living in Germany at the time, only a small percentage—roughly 8-10%—were active members of the Nazi Party. Yet, millions more were complicit through inaction or indifference.

Shockingly, some of these bystanders were church members who were supposed to embody morality and virtue. According to historical records, many turned a blind eye to the persecution of the Jews and other minority groups. In some cases, church leaders even quietly supported or justified Nazi policies, claiming they had no choice but to accept the regime’s rule. The apathy of these so-called “good people” is a stark reminder that it isn’t enough simply to refrain from doing evil. You must actively fight against it.

As the world watches crises unfold today, we must remember that inaction is a form of complicity. As Edmund Burke famously said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

A complicit media censoring or de-platforming dissidents.

During World War II, The New York Times faced criticism for its coverage, or lack thereof, of major atrocities like the Holocaust and the famine in Ukraine. The newspaper, under the leadership of its publisher, Arthur Hays Sulzberger, downplayed or ignored significant reports on the systematic extermination of Jews by the Nazis. Despite having access to firsthand accounts and information, The Times failed to give these events the prominence they deserved. Similarly, the paper’s coverage of the Soviet famine in Ukraine in the early 1930s, where millions of Ukrainians died from forced starvation, was minimal at best. Moreover, The New York Times displayed a sympathetic stance toward Joseph Stalin’s regime, which many critics argue was a result of its desire to maintain favorable diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. This selective reporting reveals a pattern of prioritizing political expediency over journalistic integrity, a failure that remains a deeply controversial chapter in the history of American journalism.

Today, The New York Times has been criticized for downplaying or minimizing the rise of anti-Semitism within certain factions of the Democratic Party. While the paper has reported on incidents involving anti-Semitic rhetoric or actions, critics argue that its coverage often fails to fully address the depth of the issue or its growing presence among some progressive circles. This has been especially evident in the wake of controversies surrounding politicians who have made inflammatory remarks about Israel and Jewish people. Yet, The Times’ reporting sometimes frames these incidents in ways that avoid directly confronting the underlying anti-Semitic sentiment. For example, when figures like Ilhan Omar or Rashida Tlaib made controversial statements about Israel, critics felt the paper’s coverage softened the impact, focusing more on the broader context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict rather than acknowledging the troubling implications for Jewish communities. This tendency to downplay or deflect the issue has sparked accusations that The New York Times is more concerned with protecting its political alliances than confronting the uncomfortable reality of anti-Semitism within mainstream political discourse.

Bottom line…

While any loss of life is a tragedy, the lack of public sympathy for Brian Thompson’s murder highlights how deeply polarized and complex public perceptions of corporate leaders, especially in sectors like healthcare, have become in today’s society.

In the face of injustice, silence is not virtuous but dangerous. It’s time to stop looking the other way. We must all take a stand.

Memo to wing-nuts: the right to protest does not include the right to use violence against another individual.

We are so screwed.
