If all goes as planned, today, the delegates from each state, in alphabetical order roll call vote, will announce how many delegates they will be delivering to each candidate.
This will be a formality because former President Trump garnered the 1,125 delegates required to become the party's presumptive nominee by the end of the March primary process.
Again, if all goes as planned, Donald J. Trump is expected to officially accept the presidential nomination for the third time since 2016 in an acceptance speech on Thursday night.
The timing of his announcement of his Vice Presidential running mate is still a closely held secret, but it is expected to take place during the convention. The front runners are tipped to be Senator J. D. Vance (R-OH), Governor Doug Burgum (R-ND), and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL). However, Trump being Trump, did not rule out a long shot selection.
