YOU CAR AS A MOBILE SENSOR "THEY" CONTROL?

STELLANTIS

Meet the mobile version of big brother…

In a no-surprise announcement, Stellantis, the multinational automotive manufacturing corporation, has announced the formation of its latest venture, Mobilisights, to spy on you and your neighbors using some of their iconic brands including Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall.

New ‘Mobilisights’ Business Unit Advances Stellantis’ Growing Data and Connected Services Offer

  • Mobilisights will leverage data from Stellantis’ connected vehicles, which are expected to reach 34 million by 2030
  • Mobilisights to operate as an independent business unit, collaborate with data partners and license data to a wide range of customers, including other automakers
  • Consistent with Dare Forward 2030, Mobilisights will be a key contributor to the €20 billion in incremental annual revenues expected from software-related services by 2030

“The vision for Mobilisights is to contribute to a smarter world, leveraging the insights that vehicle data provide to inspire innovative applications and services that can transform and dramatically improve the day-to-day lives of users and businesses,” said Sanjiv Ghate, Mobilisights CEO. “Harnessed effectively, sensor and other data available from connected vehicles can enable a wide range of services and applications with compelling benefits, ranging from personalized usage-based insurance to road hazard detection and traffic management. With its 14 iconic brands and millions of connected vehicles, Stellantis has unmatched global data scale capable of powering this business forward.”

Fully leveraging the data from 34 million connected vehicles the Company plans to reach by the end of the decade, Mobilisights has exclusive access and rights to license vehicle and related data from all Stellantis brands to external customers. Such data density will give Mobilisights a greater level of autonomy when it comes to its reliance on other data suppliers to power applications.

[OCS: Of course, the company will grant themselves access to data collected by your vehicle through a unilateral user’s agreement where you cede all of your rights to the company while holding them harmless for any misuse, negligent or otherwise, of the collected data.]

Stellantis’ software strategy deploys next-generation tech platforms, building on existing connected vehicle capabilities to transform how customers interact with their vehicles. This strategy, detailed during Stellantis’ Software Day in December 2021, is expected to generate approximately €20 billion in incremental annual revenues by 2030. Mobilisights will be a key contributor to those revenues.

[OCS: And, of course, it will all be attributed to improving the user’s experience – the classic corporate coercion of trading convenience for privacy, security, and freedoms. And where billions in revenue are concerned, you can bet your last dollar that the user’s concerns are ignored and trumped by the company’s greed.]

Mobilisights and its partners will operate within a very strict data governance and privacy policy. This includes using anonymized and aggregated data, and only sharing personal data of customers with their consent and only for the specific services of their choosing. Customers also can opt out of information being collected, used or shared, even after they have given their consent.

[OCS: We have heard it all before. Even if some insider with “keys to the kingdom” releases confidential data, the “record fines along with neither admitting nor denying allegations” is just another cost of doing business.

The foundation of this whole business is trust,” said Sanjiv Ghate. “Trust in our custodianship of data and trust that we are here to create a better world.” <Source>

[OCS: Remember when Google’s motto was “Don’t Be Evil?” You can no longer trust the politicized corporatized institutions, filled with former government spies and agents, that have been deputized by the regime to monitor your behavior and activities.]

What does it mean?

The company plans to collect your vehicle’s data to implement its “data-as-a-service business” by developing and licensing products, applications, and services to customers like insurance issuers, law enforcement, and advertisers. It is also possible that onboard cameras could function as remote sensors and be used as license plate readers, roving speed traps, and other intrusive applications.

GM to leverage driver data as it jumps back into the insurance business

General Motors is launching an insurance service, returning to a business that it abandoned more than a decade ago, but this time more in step with the connected-car era.

The service, called OnStar Insurance, will offer bundled auto, home and renters’ insurance, starting this year with GM employees in Arizona. GM’s new insurance agency, OnStar Insurance Services, will be the exclusive agent for OnStar Insurance. Homesite Insurance Group, an affiliate of American Family Insurance, will underwrite the program.

The services will be available to the public nationwide by the end of 2022, including people who drive vehicles outside of GM’s portfolio of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC branded cars, trucks and SUVs. The aim, however, is to leverage the vast amounts of data captured through its OnStar connected car service, which today has more than 16 million members in the United States.

GM’s pitch is that this data can be an asset to drivers and help them cash in on lower insurance rates based on safe driving habits.

[OCS: You can bet any insurance program will continue to soak the customer while the savings flow to the corporation’s bottom line. What they never mention are the implied penalties for acting outside their algorithm or the other uses for data they offer to law enforcement. For years, OnStar swore that their devices could not be used to listen to a passenger’s conversation – until it was exposed in a court case where the device was deliberately used as a bug to grab the occupant’s conversations.]

Our goal is really to create greater transparency and greater control for our customers in influencing what they pay for insurance and their total cost of ownership on the vehicles,” Russell Page, GM’s head of business intelligence said in a recent interview.

[OCS: Marketing bullpucky!]

The data play is substantial. The company has logged more than 121 million GB of data usage across the Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC brands since the launch of 4G LTE in 2014.

The increase in internet-connected vehicles has in turn, produced loads of data. GM has been one of the data collection leaders, thanks to its long-established OnStar platform that launched in 1996. But GM is not the first, nor certainly the last automaker, to seek out ways to use that data to provide services such as insurance. Tesla, for instance, launched an insurance service in 2019 that promised to deliver rates 20% and even as high as 30% lower than other insurance providers. <Source>

Bottom line…

With internet-connected cars, you are living in a fish bowl, and that enjoyable Sunday ride becomes an exercise in mind and speech control – because your words are being cataloged in some data warehouse to be used against you retroactively to demonstrate intent or a pattern of prior behavior. Just ask the NSA about their data warehousing of electronic communications.

Is this our future?

Your Data: If You Have Nothing to Hide, You Have Nothing to Fear

Our value is founded on a unique and deep understanding of risks, vulnerabilities, mitigations, and threats. Domestic Surveillance plays a vital role in our national security by using advanced data mining systems to "connect the dots" to identify suspicious patterns.

Why We Collect Your Data

In the past, domestic law enforcement agencies collected data AFTER a suspect had been identified. This often resulted in lost intelligence and missed opportunities. But what if data could be collected in advance, BEFORE the target was known? What if the mere act of collecting data could result in the identification of new targets?

What if we could build a national data warehouse containing information about every person in the United States? Thanks to secret interpretations of the PATRIOT ACT, top-secret Fourth Amendment exceptions allowed by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, and broad cooperation at the local, state, and federal level, we can!

What Data We Collect

Every day, people leave a digital trail of electronic breadcrumbs as they go about their daily routine. They go to work using electronic fare cards; drive through intersections with traffic cameras; walk down the street past security cameras; surf the internet; pay for purchases with credit/debit cards; text or call their friends; and on and on.

There is no way to predict in advance which crucial piece of data will be the key to revealing a potential plot. The standard operating procedure for the Domestic Surveillance Directorate is to "collect all available information from all available sources all the time, every time, always".

In the spirit of openness and transparency, here is a partial list of current and planned future data collection targets:

  • internet searches (ie; here's a collection of searches by Federal Government workers)
  • websites visited
  • emails sent and received
  • social media activity (Facebook, Twitter, etc)
  • blogging activity including posts read, written, and commented on
  • videos watched and/or uploaded online
  • photos viewed and/or uploaded online
  • mobile phone GPS-location data
  • mobile phone apps downloaded
  • phone call records
  • text messages sent and received
  • Skype video calls
  • online purchases and auction transactions
  • credit card/ debit card transactions
  • financial information
  • legal documents
  • travel documents
  • health records
  • cable television shows watched and recorded
  • commuter toll records
  • electronic bus and subway passes / Smartpasses
  • facial recognition data from surveillance cameras
  • educational records
  • arrest records
  • driver license information
  • DNA

Sample Collection Data - In Real Time

The PRISM program is our #1 source of raw intelligence and consists of data extracted from the servers of nine major American internet companies. In the spirit of openness and transparency, we have embedded the Twitter feed from the NSA_PRISMbot which periodically posts random samples of PRISM collection data. <Source>

It’s not quite this bad, but after the Biden Administration, who knows?

WE SHOULD CELEBRATE THE KEVIN McCARTHY BATTLE FOR HOUSE SPEAKER

Km-n

Everything is a deal in Washington; it’s time conservatives used their power to bring sanity to the House of Representatives…

Consider the fact set…

(1)  House Representative Kevin McCarthy is a bland and mediocre establishment deal-maker, often taking direction from his friend Dr. Frank Luntz, the word-meister and pollster.

(2)  It is of little consequence to anyone outside of Washington that the House is not in session and no vital business is being ignored.

(3)  This is the first time in decades that the party’s conservative wing has wielded actual power against the establishment to force a fundamental change in House Rules.

(4)  The commentariat are the only ones freaking out and portraying the speakership issue as a national disaster. Of course, most of those complaining are progressive communist democrats and feckless Republican establishment types. Who cares?

So, ask yourself, what is the downside?

Putting it all in perspective, note that the House has always had bare-knuckle power fights and that in the 1856 election, it took two months and 133 rounds of voting to elect a Speaker.

What are some of the ongoing concession demands being forced?

[OCS: If you are wondering why these rules changes are critical for the GOP to wield oversight on the budget and the behavior of the Biden Administration, you haven’t been paying attention to the damage being wrought by the progressive communist democrats and their absentee leader Biden which allows a cadre of radical Obamacons to run the nation in stealth mode.]

Lowering threshold on motion to vacate the chair

McCarthy made a major concession in lowering the threshold on the motion to vacate the chair — a procedural tool used to oust a sitting speaker that was used by members of the House Freedom Caucus to pressure former Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to step down. Under new rules, just five GOP members could force a vote on ousting the speaker — a compromise from just one member as hardliners wanted but lower than at least half the GOP conference that the House GOP conference initially adopted in November.

Multiple conservatives said the motion to vacate is their “red line” in backing him for the position, with hardliners asserting they believe the rule should be changed back to its original form of a single member holding power.

While McCarthy has caved to bring the number down to five, his defectors have argued that the move does not go far enough in order to hold the leader accountable for the promises made to the conference.

Moderate GOP lawmakers have slammed the change, arguing that lowering the threshold could be weaponized for leverage over key decisions due to the razor-thin majority.

Fiscal changes with bringing back Holman Rule

Cuts to spending and bringing back a mechanism known as the "Holman Rule" to permit members to make targeted cuts to specific bureaucrats’ salaries were key components in conservatives’ demands in exchange for the support of the next speaker of the House.

The new rules package unveiled late Sunday evening requires the Congressional Budget Office to provide an analysis on bills’ impact on inflation and will reinstate the “three-fifths supermajority in the House to approve any increases in tax rates.”

A “cut-as-you-go,” or CUTGO, rule will be put back into place if the package passes, which requires spending increases to be offset by equal or greater cuts in mandatory spending and "eliminating the budget gimmicks caused by Democrat PAYGO.”

The Democrats' "Gephardt Rule" would also be scrapped in an effort to block the lower chamber from automatically suspending the debt ceiling after passing a budget resolution.

[OCS: Also considered are separate appropriations bills that would eliminate 4,000+ page omnibus bills with their 2,500+ companion explainers.]

New sub- and select committees/changes to committee process

The package calls for the creation of a Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, which would fall under the jurisdiction of the House Judiciary Committee.

A Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party would also be established, and modifications would be made to the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic to focus its investigation on the origins of the virus, gain-of-function research, and the impact it had on society.

Panels will be required to “establish oversight plans detailing how they will hold the Biden administration accountable.”

The House Committee on Education and Labor would also be renamed the House Committee on Education and the Workforce.

The House Ethics Committee would see a new process put in place to receive complaints from the public, and a bipartisan task force would be directed to “conduct a comprehensive review of House ethics rules and regulation.”

The rules would also reinstate “Calendar Wednesday” — which permits committee chairs “to bring reported bills directly to the House floor for consideration under an open amendment process, and reform the process by ensuring the same 72-hour notice that is required on all other measures is provided."

[OCS: Conservatives may get three seats on the all important rules committee.]

Reopening the Capitol and elimination of pandemic protocols

Pandemic-era changes put in place during the 117th Congress will largely go away, with remote committee work and proxy voting slated to be axed.

Republicans have long railed against proxy voting despite many members using the mechanism, with critics arguing that lawmakers should have to be present at work and not “phone it in.”

A return to two-minute votes is also set to make a comeback as Republicans take control, with the votes having been elongated to allow for social distancing during the height of the pandemic.

Fines for not complying with mask mandates will also be eliminated, and the magnetometers around the House chamber, which were put in place after the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, will also be removed.

Eliminating staff labor unions

Democrats allowed congressional offices to unionize last year, with proponents arguing it was a step in the right direction for workers' rights.

[OCS: An up-or-down vote on term limits is pending. Of course, the downside is that while politicians may come and go, the staff bureaucracy remains and often runs the show.]

<Source>

Bottom line…

In another positive move for the conservatives, the Congressional Leadership Fund (the super PAC endorsed by Kevin McCarthy and the House establishment leadership) has agreed with the Club for Growth (the conservative PAC) to stay out of the 2024 open-GOP safe primaries. This may tip the scales against squishy RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) who vote against conservative interests – and by extension, against what’s often best for the nation.

Thank heaven that some conservatives have the courage to challenge the GOP establishment wing. It’s time for conservatives to wield the power their constituents have handed them.

But remember, we are still dealing with self-serving politicians who often place their needs above those of the nation – and if both conditions coincide – hooray. If you look at some of those fighting the hardest against the conservatives, it’s all about committee and sub-committee chairmanships that were promised to McCarthy-supporting members.

We are still screwed.

FBI OFFERS $500,000 REWARD FOR JAN 6 BOMBER

Fbi-clouseuSorry to say, but the FBI upping the reward for an alleged pipe bomber to $500,000 after almost two years of investigation is ludicrous…

Especially in light of the FBI’s former activities, which makes me suspect a staged false flag operation designed to prevent the presentation of alternative elector slates in the now infamous January 6, 2021, joint session of Congress. Or, as an equally plausible theory, a diversion from the Jan 6 activities in the Capitol complex.

From the scarcity of released footage covering the event, the possible alteration of photos released to the public, the ability of the suspect to plant two undetected devices without a trace, the ludicrous construction of the devices themselves using kitchen-style timers, and other factors, something stinks.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), on January 5, 2021 between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., an individual placed two pipe bombs in Washington, D.C. – one near the Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters and another near the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters. The next day, on January 6, 2021, then-Vice President-elect Harris reportedly arrived at the DNC headquarters at 11:30 a.m. Prior to Harris’ arrival, the Secret Service reportedly “swept the interior of the [DNC headquarters], the driveway, parking deck and entrances and exits.” Reports indicate that at 1:07 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police began investigating the pipe bomb at that location, and at 1:14 p.m., an unnamed Secret Service protectee – presumably Harris – was removed from the DNC. The bomb threat was cleared at 4:36 p.m.5 To date, law enforcement has not been able to identify or locate the suspect who allegedly planted the pipe bombs at the RNC and DNC headquarters. Given that Secret Service reportedly swept the areas in and around the DNC headquarters prior to Harris’ arrival on January 6, 2021, it seems odd that agents did not immediately discover the pipe bomb that was reportedly located next to a park bench at that location.  [Office of Senator Ron Johnson – Secret Service Letter]

Given that the FBI has been caught in a web of lies and cover-ups at the highest levels of FBI leadership and that FBI Director Christopher Wray has been resistant to congressional oversight, I must ask why won’t the FBI release the camera footage of the pipe bomber planting the bomb after two years?

About the bomb’s timers…

    1. The pipe bomber used an old-fashioned mechanical timer with a one hour max time setting, but planted the bombs at roughly 8 p.m. the night before January 6 — 17 hours before they were found.
    2. The pipe bombs were constructed with no remote detonation ability, meaning their purpose as a diversion relied solely on the “luck” of being found at the right time, between noon and 1 p.m., to match the one-hour timer appearing to target the 1 p.m. Congressional certification vote.
    3. The first pipe bomb was found at 12:40 p.m., with 20 minutes left on the timer, perfectly matching the exact timing needed both to “divert” police as the breach began at 12:50 p.m., and to convince police the bomb was timed to the 1 p.m. Congressional vote.
    4. The timer didn’t just have 20 minutes left. It was left stuck on the 20 minute dial.

Suspicious or an indicator of a staged false flag operation?

FBI Washington Field Office, ATF Washington Field Division, and Metropolitan Police Department Raise Reward for Information About Capitol Hill Pipe Bomber to $500,000

The FBI Washington Field Office; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) Washington Field Division; and the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) have raised the reward to $500,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect who placed pipe bombs near the headquarters of the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C., in January 2021.

Two years into the investigation, identifying the perpetrator of this attempted attack remains a priority for the FBI, ATF, MPD, and the U.S. Capitol Police.

The suspect placed pipe bombs in a Capitol Hill neighborhood near the Republican National Committee Headquarters, located at 310 First St. SE, and the Democratic National Committee Headquarters, located at 430 South Capitol St. SE, #3, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, between approximately 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.—the night before the riots at the U.S. Capitol.

"For two years, a dedicated team of FBI agents, analysts, and law enforcement partners have been tirelessly reviewing evidence and digital media related to this case," said David Sundberg, assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office.

To date, the FBI and our partners have conducted approximately 1,000 interviews, visited more than 1,200 residences and businesses, collected more than 39,000 video files, and assessed nearly 500 tips.

"We remain grateful to the American people, who have provided invaluable tips that have helped us advance the investigation," Sundberg said. "With the significantly increased reward, we urge those who may have previously hesitated to contact us—or who may not have realized they had important information—to review the information on our website and come forward with anything relevant," Sundberg said. "Despite the unprecedented volume of data review involved in this case, the FBI and our partners continue to work relentlessly to bring the perpetrator of these dangerous attempted attacks to justice."

"We are proud to stand alongside our partners as we increase our reward contribution to help identify the person or persons responsible for placing these pipe bombs and threatening our community," said ATF Washington Field Division acting Special Agent in Charge Christopher Amon. "The ATF’s determination and commitment to this investigation will not waver. Public safety is of the utmost priority in this ongoing investigation, and we remain dedicated to making sure those responsible are brought to justice."

D.C. Police Chief Robert J. Contee III said, "MPD continues to work alongside our federal partners to locate the individual or individuals behind these heinous attempted acts. We know our most powerful tool is information from our community. With your help and our federal partnerships, the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department will remain focused on bringing this matter to closure—for the safety of our entire community."

Although these bombs did not detonate, it is important to remember the suspect walked along residential and commercial areas in Capitol Hill just blocks from the U.S. Capitol with viable pipe bombs that could have seriously injured or killed innocent bystanders. Moreover, the suspect may still pose a danger to the public or themselves.

In raising the reward for information about the pipe bomb suspect from $100,000 to as much as $500,000, the FBI and our partners are seeking to encourage the American public to take a fresh look at our Seeking Information website, which includes images and video of the suspect, the suspect’s backpack, the suspect’s shoes, the explosive devices, and a map of the route the suspect walked the night the pipe bombs were placed. We note that many of the components used to build the pipe bombs were widely available for purchase in-store and online. Some of the components used to construct these devices include 1x8-inch threaded galvanized pipes, end caps, kitchen timers, wires, metal clips, and homemade black powder.

While additional details cannot be released to maintain the investigation's integrity, the FBI strongly encourages the public to come forward with any relevant information. We ask those providing tips about potentially relevant persons of interest to compile and provide as many details as possible (biographic info, contact info, demographic info, proximity to Washington, D.C., in early January 2021, and access to pipe bomb components) to ensure the FBI can adequately vet the information. If you have any information, please call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (225-5324) or submit tips online at tips.fbi.gov. Tips can remain anonymous. <Source>

[OCS: Nothing is anonymous in the FBI’s Washington D.C. field office if a leak suits a political purpose.]

Bottom line…

Will the perpetrator be a disgruntled partisan? Unlikely since bombs were planted at both Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee offices? Will it turn out to be a government employee, contractor, “confidential informant,” or an unwitting stooge? Given the unprofessional nature of the bombs and the spot-on evasion of detection during placement, most likely, it is an operative.

We are so screwed when we cannot trust our formerly premier intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

China’s nukes use U.S. technology

Beijing’s rapid buildup of nuclear forces has been assisted by American nuclear and missile technology obtained by Chinese spies and through U.S. space and nuclear cooperation in the 1990s, according to a review of Chinese technology records and internal U.S. government documents.

The Pentagon disclosed last month that China’s stockpile will have at least 1,500 strategic nuclear warheads by 2035, up from 200 just a few years ago and 400 warheads today.

Peter Huessy, the president of GeoStrategic Analysis who has studied China’s nuclear buildup, said the expansion of China’s nuclear arsenal is alarming and based substantially on American know-how that Beijing obtained legally and illegally over the decades.

“The spectacular growth in Chinese nuclear forces as described recently by Adm. Richard highlights two things: First, the Chinese ambition to become a world military hegemon, and two, the unfortunate role of the often reckless transfer of nuclear applicable technology from the United States to China that facilitated this extraordinary growth,” Mr. Huessy said.

China’s long-range missile force included seven relatively inaccurate single-warhead intercontinental ballistic missiles just three decades ago, according to an internal 1993 White House document. The document, known as Presidential Review 31, said China would have 24 to 28 ICBMs capable of reaching the United States by 2000, “some of which may be MIRVed” — the term for multiple, independently targetable reentry vehicles.

Two Chinese coups targeting advanced American technology significantly accelerated the buildup of nuclear forces during the 1990s.

The first was a large-scale espionage program to steal nuclear warhead secrets. The CIA concluded in a public assessment that China had obtained information on every deployed U.S. warhead, particularly the compact W-88, which can be used on multiple-warhead missiles.

The second coup involved knowledge gleaned from U.S.-Chinese space cooperation during the Clinton administration. It resulted from a policy that loosened national security export controls to permit joint efforts with Beijing in space. Under the policy, U.S.-based Motorola and China’s Great Wall Industry Corp. agreed in 1993 to launch Iridium satellites on Chinese rockets.

Under the deal, China built a “smart dispenser” to Motorola’s specifications that allowed two satellites to be launched on a single rocket. Motorola denied that it improperly helped the Chinese build the dispenser.

A 1996 report by the National Air and Space Intelligence Center found that the smart dispenser could be used as a post-boost vehicle for China’s DF-5 ICBM.

The report concluded that the smart dispenser, with minimal modifications, “could be used to deploy multiple reentry vehicles” for ICBMs. By 2015, the Pentagon’s annual report revealed that the once single-warhead DF-5 included a modified version with multiple warheads.

Adm. Richard said he believes China’s strategic breakout is for use in a “coercive nuclear strategy.” Such a strategy could allow Beijing to intimidate the U.S. and its regional allies in standoffs over issues such as the future of Taiwan and control of the South China Sea and East China Sea.

As it accumulates wealth and technological expertise, China is moving away from single-warhead missiles, the Pentagon says. The latest annual report says the People’s Liberation Army will place multiple warheads on its 20 DF-5s and will add at least three warheads to the DF-31AG and DF-41 land-based missiles and the new JL-3 submarine-launched missile.

Critics say the progress is especially galling because Chinese nuclear warhead technology was greatly assisted by espionage that targeted U.S. nuclear weapons laboratories and through another Clinton administration program that promoted exchanges between U.S. nuclear scientists and their Chinese counterparts.

In September, a study by the private intelligence firm Strider revealed that China’s targeting of nuclear laboratories for secrets began in the 1980s and was later modified to recruit nuclear scientists more efficiently. From 1987 to 2021, at least 162 scientists who had worked at Los Alamos traveled to China to assist with sensitive projects. Fifteen of them were formerly on the staff at the lab.

“The Los Alamos case shows how China’s rapid advances in certain key military technologies are being aided by individuals who participated in sensitive U.S. government-funded research,” the report said.

The loss of W-88 warhead design information first came to the attention of U.S. counterintelligence officials at the Energy Department in 1992 after China tested a nuclear warhead that appeared similar in design to the W-88. Three years later, a nuclear defector gave the CIA an official classified Chinese document that revealed specific design information on the W-88 and other warheads.

The revelations led to an uproar on Capitol Hill. A special congressional investigative committee led by Rep. Christopher Cox, California Republican, concluded in its 1999 final report that Chinese intelligence agents had obtained secrets on seven U.S. thermonuclear bombs, including the W-88.

The PRC stole classified information on every currently deployed U.S. intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) and submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM),” the congressional committee report said. <Read more of this troubling report...>

Economic spy who gave General Electric secrets to Chinese govt. sentenced to 24 months in prison

From 2008 to 2018, Xiaoqing Zheng of Niskayuna, New York, worked for GE Power as an engineer specializing in the sealing of turbines. In that role, Zheng accessed and stole information on turbine production, which was to be used by the Chinese state and affiliated entities in order to reproduce the turbines themselves.

“This is a case of textbook economic espionage. Zheng exploited his position of trust, betrayed his employer and conspired with the government of China to steal innovative American technology,” Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen said.

Zheng was a member of the Thousand Talents Program, a Chinese government initiative to bring foreign experts and researchers to China in order to boost the country’s scientific capabilities.

Zheng joined the program in 2012, according to the Albany-area newspaper the Times Union.

“American ingenuity is an integral part of the United States economic security - it is what has guided the U.S. to become the global leader, even as China seeks to topple our status. Xiaoqing Zheng was a Thousand Talents Program member and willingly stole proprietary technology and sent it back to the PRC,” said FBI Counterintelligence Division Assistant Director Alan Kohler Jr.

Zheng will also have to pay a $7,500 fine and undergo a year of supervised release after the completion of his two-year sentence. Prosecutors had originally asked for a 97-month sentence for Zheng, according to the Albany Times Union. <Source>

I cannot think of more traitorous behavior than that exhibited by the Clintons, both Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, and the Bidens, who sold favors and access to their respective offices for multi-million dollar payments from our enemies. Our congressional intelligence, law enforcement oversight committees, and specialized agencies ignored or facilitated the ongoing threat.

How does a Chinese Communist Spy remain embedded in Diane Feinstein’s office for nearly twenty years while she sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee – only be retired with a U.S. pension rather than jailed when discovered?

How does Representative Eric Swalwell (D-CA) sleep with a Chinese spy and retain his position on the House Intelligence Committee? How does Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell retain his powerful office when his wife’s family owes their fortunes to the Communist Chinese government? How did President Trump appoint McConnell’s wife as his Transportation Secretary?

A lesson from Vladimir Lenin…

They [the capitalists] will furnish credits which will serve us for the support of the Communist Party in their countries and, by supplying us materials and technical equipment which we lack, will restore our military industry necessary for our future attacks against our suppliers. To put it in other words, they will work on the preparation of their own suicide.” (Reported by I. U. Annenkov in an article entitled, "Remembrances of Lenin", Novyi Zhurnal/New Review (September 1961), p. 147.)

Bottom line…

It is time that our politicians are pre-vetted and subject to pre-candidacy security reviews.

It is also time to bifurcate the FBI and transfer its counter-intelligence operations to a new, non-political agency, not susceptible to the whims of corrupt political appointees.

And to severely punish traitorous behavior, both foreign and domestic.

It is not racist to profile and target our likely enemies. No longer should our enemies be able to hide behind the charges of racism, bigotry, and xenophobia.

Until we clean the house, we remain vulnerable.

We are so screwed.

PAUL EHRLICH: END OF TIMES BULLSHIT ARTIST

60-ERLICH

Has the CBS News feature "60 Minutes" gone so far left to ignore science and history?

How else can you explain the appearance of Stanford University biologist Paul Ehrlich, 90, whose predictions of unchecked population growth, resource shortages, and global famine have been debunked over the preceding decades since his 1968 bestseller, The Population Bomb?

Ignoring history, science, and engineering, Ehrlich is back with more nonsense, that the world is undergoing a Sixth Mass Extinction owing to humanity's rising population and resource consumption.

Of course, one only need to consider the gross falsity of Ehrlich’s base assumption that man is incapable of adapting to new circumstances, be they natural or man-made disasters.

On the issue of resources, Ehrlich posits…

PELLEY: You seem to be saying that humanity is not sustainable.

EHRLICH: Humanity is not sustainable. To maintain our lifestyle, yours and mine, basically, for the entire planet, you’d need five more earths. Not clear where they’re going to come from.

PELLEY: Just in terms of the resources that would be required.

EHRLICH: Resources that would be required, the systems that support our lives, which of course are the biodiversity that we’re wiping out. Humanity is very busily sitting on a limb that we’re sawing off.

With Ehrlich, two things remain the same. One, he overlooks his past predictive failures and speaks with the certitude of a scientifically-credentialed prophet.   And two, all of his prescriptives lead to the necessity of a strong authoritarian government with central planning to manage the use and re-distribution of resources-- personal freedoms be damned.

Bottom line…

Ehrlich provides no scientifically-based reasons why anybody should look past his gross failures and accept his recent predictions of doom.

And it seems that 60 Minutes remains incurious and unwilling to push back with equally credentialed and experienced guests who could point out the falsity or, more scientifically, the low probability of Ehrlich’s dire outcomes. Instead, 60 Minutes presented two of Ehrlich’s like-minded Stanford colleagues, Tony Barnosky and Liz Hadly, aging senior citizens who are married to each other.

He is a zero-growth redistributionist who once pointed out that “You have to get the death rate and birth rate in balance. And there are only two ways to do it. One is to bring the birth rate down, the other is to push the death rate up.” At 90, one might wonder if he views the man-made Communist Chinese Virus as a partial solution to the world’s woes.

We are so screwed when formerly reputable programs push progressive communist democrat propaganda and prescriptions.

DANGEROUS DELUSIONS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE

Kevin_McCarthy-frank_luntz

The fact that the House Republicans cannot select a Speaker of the House on the first vote of a new Congress points to the future failure of the GOP to manage the affairs of the nation effectively…

House Adjourns after McCarthy Loses Three Speaker Votes

The House voted to adjourn on Tuesday evening until noon on Wednesday after three failed attempts at electing a speaker.

The decision to adjourn came shortly after House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) failed to win the speakership in a third vote on Tuesday. A handful of Republican holdouts coalesced around Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) instead. <Source>

Matt Gaetz's Words About Kevin McCarthy Define the Current State of the Republican Party

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is one such man looking to stop McCarthy from obtaining the gavel. Earlier Tuesday, he gave a short speech to reporters about why he’s resisting the GOP’s main pick, and embedded in his words was something that might have defined the Republican Party in its current state better than any other.

Gaetz began by revealing that he and others were threatened to be taken off committee spots if they didn’t vote for McCarthy, but Gaetz said his position was that if someone like McCarthy were in charge then there wouldn’t be any teeth to bite. If all Republicans have is the ability to bark then the committee assignments mean nothing anyway.

He then said something very poignant.

“I don’t want to relive the Benghazi experience where it’s just theatre pretending to be oversight,” said Gaetz.

Right now, the Republican Party is about as dangerous as a revolver without any bullets in it. It just looks threatening. The GOP is all flash and noise, but it doesn’t have the willingness to fight meaningfully against a Democrat Party that has become unquestioningly radicalized. McCarthy is, for all intents and purposes, a perfect reflection of the Republican Party as Gaetz described.

House Democrats’ New Leader Doesn’t Believe in Democracy

Hakeem Jeffries has a long history of denying the legitimacy of our elections and governing institutions. He’s entirely unfit for the job he’s been given.

A crucial value in a democratic system of government is the acceptance of defeat under the rules of the system. Elections are held, and the winners are legitimately entitled to exercise the powers of their offices. Losers need not lose with grace or even dignity; they need not treat a defeat as final when there is always another election to come. But it threatens the survival of the system when people in positions of authority tell the voters that elections are rigged and their outcomes are illegitimate. These are extraordinary charges that demand extraordinary evidence, which is typically not provided. That way lies political violence and the rule of rioters, mobs, and coups.

These deniers of the legitimacy of elections have made their case in public speeches and writings about past and upcoming elections, and also in legal and political challenges to election outcomes and efforts to strip elected officials of their power to govern. They’ve told pervasive lies about election law, eagerly bankrolled Republican “election deniers” in primary elections, and offered up endless one-weird-trick arguments for getting around the rules of the system.

Moreover, Jeffries has argued that the Supreme Court’s decisions are “illegitimate” because of Republicans’ “stealing two Supreme Court seats” by means of the votes of Republican senators. He has not specified whether he thinks those senators were not legitimately elected.

As Bonchie at RedState notes, Jeffries already appears to be contesting the legitimacy of the Republicans’ newly elected House majority, tweeting yesterday that because Republicans intend to seat George Santos (who won his election), Democrats “must take back the House. Immediately.”

Democrats and their pundit class have learned nothing from 2020 or January 6. They will continue playing with lit matches while lecturing the rest of us on the dangers of fire. And then they will feign surprise when sooner or later they burn the house down. <Source>

What is Hakeem Jefferies suggesting by “We must take back the House? Immediately?” An armed insurrection, a call to “obstruct an official proceeding,” or, more likely, to coerce a few dissident Republicans to join with all the Democrats to elect a non-Republican speaker?

Nancy Pelosi’s farewell to her Speakership – a legacy of drunken delusions and lies supported by progressive communist democrat propagandists in the media…

Dear Colleague on the Final Day of the 117th Congress – January 2, 2023

Dear Democratic Colleague,

Today, I write to you my last Dear Colleague as Speaker of the House to express my appreciation for the high honor bestowed upon me by House Democrats. I am humbled by the faith placed in me to serve as Speaker.

One final thought that I wanted to leave with you is my belief that the House Democratic Caucus is the greatest collection of intellect, integrity and imagination assembled for the good of the American people.

[OCS: To claim that the “House Democratic Caucus is the greatest collection of intellect, integrity, and imagination assembled for the good of the American people” is a bald-faced lie and beggars the imagination. On the issue of intellect, one can hardly find a better example of collective idiocy and ignorance. As for the subject of integrity, the Democrats of the 117th Congress, including Nancy Pelosi, are some of the most criminally corrupt individuals in the history of the United States.]

During the 117th Congress, President Biden and Congressional Democrats have put forth a shining vision of justice for all. Together, we have worked tirelessly to infuse this value into our legislative efforts. We can all take immense pride in our achievements toward that goal, which is making a real difference in the American people's lives.

[OCS: That “President Biden and Congressional Democrats have put forth a shining vision of justice for all” is another bald-faced lie. We have never, in the history of the United States, witnessed such a distorted version of justice, including, but not limited to, the usurpation of judicial-like actions without judicial authority, the subversion of due process guaranteed to every citizen by the U.S. Constitution, and the use of unconstitutional Bill of Attainders, a legislative act that pronounces a person guilty of a crime and imposes punishment without trial.

One need only look at the civil rights violations committed against some of the January 6 defendants who have been denied bail as simple trespassers, if that, and were treated worse than murderers, kept in horrific sub-human conditions to know that justice died under the Democrats.]

In the 118th Congress, I am confident that the new House Democratic Leadership – led by Hakeem, Katherine and Pete – will do even better, remaining always faithful to our shared mission to safeguard our treasured Democracy For The People.

[OCS: In my opinion, Hakeem Jefferies is an Obama-like radical anti-America, an anti-White, anti-Semitic Black communist activist whose smooth manner is media friendly. As for “remaining always faithful to our shared mission to safeguard our treasured Democracy.” how does one explain…

  • The ongoing collusion with big tech to censor free speech and to de-platform dissenters.
  • The lack of House oversight of the intelligence and law enforcement agencies trying to subvert a presidential election and cripple a presidency.
  • The refusal to investigate Biden’s well-documented extortion and money laundering activities.
  • Subverting long-standing House traditions and norms to empower illegally constituted and operated committees.
  • Ignoring well-documented cases of election tampering.
  • The failure to audit the waste, fraud, and abuse associated with COVID-19 funds.]

With gratitude for your kind wishes to Paul, we send you and your loved ones our warmest personal wishes for a Healthy, Happy New Year!

NANCY

Bottom line…

Where to now?

After the GOP predictions of a “red wave” that was little more than a few droplets and the GOP support of the corrupt trillion-dollar omnibus spending bill, it is no wonder we are seeing pushback against the establishment GOP factotums whose modus operandi appears to be, go along to get along.

Why is this fight occurring at the last possible, most inconvenient time? Indeed, the existing members of the GOP caucus knew about the battle after the election – and did nothing. Sort of like the yearly budget battles with their dire threats to shut down the government.

We are so screwed.

RISK, RISK, WHO'S GOT THE RISK?

Dice-whiteHave we learned nothing from the 2008 mortgage meltdown and the near collapse of our financial system?

Essentially, regulators allowed mortgage originators to evade sound lending practices to offer home mortgages to those who couldn’t qualify to purchase a vehicle, let alone a home.

Through a confluence of events, the risk of mortgage default was transferred from the mortgage originator to the Wall Street Wizards, who thought it was an awesome idea to run the mortgage through a shredder and sell off individual strips to investors who were being offered above-market returns to assume the risk of default. Of course, to make this palatable to investors, the same Wall Street Wizards had to invent non-insurance, not based on sound actuarial principles and maintained reserves, but on wonky spreadsheets based on the faulty assumption that real estate valuations only went one way – UP! Of course, with minor market fluctuations.

These two entities Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.  The two mortgage lenders are essentially a "public policy instrument of the government." ~ Barney Frank

Even the House Financial Services Committee Chairman, Representative Barney Frank (D-MA), assured everyone that all was well in the mortgage markets – until weeks later when it wasn’t, and they were placed under conservatorship. But the heavy hand of the regulators ignored sound banking policies as they opposed efforts to reform the government-sponsored mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which were eventually bailed out at great cost to taxpayers.

A not-so-hidden danger…

Of course, following the financial debacle, legislators created the Dodd-Frank Act, named after two of the most corrupt legislators in Congress, and which pretended to limit the size of systemically important financial institutions (surprise, they are bigger than ever) and to limit the risks of another massive taxpayer bailout.

This leads to the “bail-in,” where financial institutions can grab their customers’ money and use it to stave off their potential financial insolvency. Of course, there is the fiction of federal guarantees from FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation), NCUA (National Credit Union Administration), and SIPC (Securities Investor Protection Corporation), whose guarantees do not ensure immediate reimbursements for losses.

Why am I concerned?

Rocket Mortgage Introduces Purchase Plus, Helping Make the American Dream of Homeownership More Attainable

Special purpose credit program offers up to $7,500 in lender credits for first-time buyers in underserved communities to eliminate a significant hurdle to homeownership

DETROIT, December 27, 2022 – Rocket Mortgage, part of Rocket Companies, today introduced Purchase Plus, a special purpose credit program intended to increase accessibility to homeownership in underserved communities. The new initiative offers up to $7,500 in credits for first-time homebuyers to use toward their mortgage costs. Purchase Plus is available in specific census tracts across six major cities where potential homebuyers could benefit the most – Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, Memphis and Philadelphia.

“Homeownership has a significant impact on strong communities and the creation of generational wealth,” said Bob Walters, CEO of Rocket Mortgage. “Our Purchase Plus program is a catalyst that will help narrow the homeownership gap by addressing a concern we’ve heard time and again – the difficulty of saving for out-of-pocket expenses when buying a home.”

Saving for a down payment is often cited as one of the largest barriers to buying a house. Purchase Plus can help alleviate this hurdle by providing eligible homebuyers in one of the six cities a base credit of $5,000 plus an additional lender credit totaling 1% of the home’s purchase price – up to $2,500 – for a potential savings of $7,500.

Another benefit of Purchase Plus is the elimination of exclusions based on area median income, broadening the scope of who can take advantage of the program. The first phase of Purchase Plus will focus on specific census tracts in each of the six cities and their surrounding metropolitan areas – areas where the initiative can make the largest impact in bridging the homeownership gap. <Source>

It should be noted that the ability to provide a down payment, in essence, to have skin in the game, is one of the fundamental indicators of serious first-time borrowers and a severe impediment to those who can take possession of a property with no money down -- only to live rent-free until legal proceedings. Likewise, the ability to pay closing costs upfront is an indicator of individual responsibility.

It should be noted that many areas in the specific census tracts noted in Rocket's plan are declining in value as they age and decay. The cost to repair, restore, and maintain those properties may be a significant factor in upcoming mortgage defaults.

While it may be possible to find prime mortgages among borrowers below the median income, it is unlikely. A condition leading to the creation of more sub-prime loans which use gimmicks to entice borrowers to apply for loans they cannot afford.

Since big companies are about making profits, it is important to follow both the money and the transfer of risk as these behemoths navigate a poor economy. Hoping the practices of the past do not lead us into financial disaster.

Bottom line…

Financial executives, most of whom are personally insulated from the consequences of their policies, as are legislators, appear willing to earn big bonuses by gambling with your money.

Perhaps it is time to remember that some regional banks without massive exposure to certain industry sectors like mortgage and auto lending, may be a safer bet than the banking behemoths who often shade their fiduciary duties to protect their interests at the expense of their customers.

Think like the Better Business Bureau, “Investigate BEFORE you invest.”

We are so screwed.

2023 DID NOT START WELL

My optimism for a great 2023 is fading fast…

Slide

My AT&T landline shorted out somewhere between my residence and the central office. Of course, the 24/7 service representative was kind enough to refer me to the landline repair division, which is closed on weekends and only operates during regular business hours. Seeing the alternative path, I used their online service and submitted a service ticket at 5:58 p.m. on 1/1/2023.

Imagine my surprise when my service ticket was acknowledged and indicated my service would be restored at some random time, on a random day, and by the end of the year…
