Readout of Vice President Harris’s Meeting with President Mohamed bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates

Vice President Kamala Harris met today with President Mohammed bin Zayed of the United Arab Emirates in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates on the sidelines of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). The Vice President congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on the success of COP28 and welcomed the creation of the UAE’s $30 billion ALTERRA Fund.

The leaders discussed the latest developments in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The Vice President emphasized the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to secure the release of all hostages who are being held in Gaza, and to ensure there is a sustained flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza. The Vice President emphasized the importance of the recent deal that led to an extended pause in the fighting, noting that it, before it was violated by Hamas, successfully got more than 100 hostages out while substantially increasing vital humanitarian assistance. 

[OCS: Where has Vice President Harris, President Joe Biden, or the Biden Administration called for the unconditional surrender of Hamas, an immediate cessation of hostilities, and the destruction of all rockets and weaponry? Never!

Notice Hamas resumed firing rockets into Israel and perpetrating another terror attack to break the ceasefire when they ran out of viable hostages to return? Israel should have leveled the entirety of Gaza city and then bemoaned “collateral damage.”

The humanitarian aid continues to be stolen and redirected to Hamas use. Who provides material aid and comfort to their enemies?]

The Vice President discussed U.S. ideas for post-conflict planning in Gaza including efforts on reconstruction, security, and governance, and accelerated U.S.-UAE coordination on day-after planning. 

[OCS: The United States should play no role in the reconstruction, security, or governance of Gaza as they are incapable of doing anything more than shoveling money into terrorist causes.]

She emphasized that these efforts can only succeed if they are pursued in the context of a clear political horizon for the Palestinian people towards a state of their own led by a revitalized Palestinian Authority and have significant support from the international community and the countries of the region.

[OCS: There is no clear political horizon for the Arab residents of Gaza as their elected leadership has rejected a two-state solution each time it has been offered, elected terrorists to govern them, and has continued to teach Jew Hatred in their schools and in their media. It isn’t a two-state solution, but a Caliphate that would expunge Israel (From the River to the Sea) from the region.

As for the Palestinian Authority, they are a politically weak terrorist organization that has never renounced violence or the annihilations of Israel. To revitalize a known terrorist group is dangerous and nonsensical.

The international community has pumped billions into the Palestinian-Arab areas and has seen much of the aid siphoned off by corrupt leadership living in Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar or spent on war-related weapons and infrastructure. An entire organization, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, is dedicated to pumping money into this corrupt region – falsely labeling third- or fourth-generation residents as “refugees” and mislabeling housing facilities as “refugee camps.” Let the wealthier Arab counties, like the UAE, support their bothers and sisters in Gaza – even while denying them access to their respective nations.The IDF has uncovered dozens of Hamas missiles hidden underneath UNRWA equipment, ]

The Vice President made clear that Hamas cannot control Gaza, which is untenable for Israel’s security, the well-being of the Palestinian people, and regional security. 

[Neither can any other terrorist group.]

The leaders also discussed the importance of deterring any state or non-state actors from seeking to expand the conflict. The Vice President also raised other regional issues, including her concerns about the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in Sudan.
