In the House … The Republican-dominated House of Representatives (221-212) could not control their own caucus and passed (335-91) a temporary 45-day funding plan to avoid a government shutdown with the assistance of Democrats. 209 Democrats and 126 Republicans voted yes, while 90 Republicans voted no, with only 1 Democrat, Mike Quigley (D-IL), voting no over a lack of Ukraine aid. Like most bills presented at the last minute, there was insufficient time to read and understand the bill thoroughly – even though legislators had months to work out an acceptable deal. The G.O.P. caved to the progressive communist democrats and refused to hold the line, even if it meant a government shutdown. The House bill passed was a “clean” extension of the current year’s funding priorities, which were set by the Democrat-held Congress last year. The alternative bill, proposed by conservative MAGA (Make America Great Again) Republicans, which would have restored a measure of fiscal sanity to the budgeting process, was resisted by both the progressive communist democrats and the establishment Republicans whose power and electoral future relies on pork-barrel spending. The conservative MAGA Republicans in the G.O.P. demanded procedural changes, spending cuts, and immigration enforcement that would have produced meaningful reforms of the broken immigration system, legislative processes, and desperately needed spending cuts. Communist Democrat caught red-handed breaking the law to delay the vote, will Justice prevail?
Communist Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) was caught on video as he pulled a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building in an attempt to delay a vote on the Republican funding bill.
This is a prosecutable crime.
Since a House proceeding was in progress, one wonders if Bowman will be charged with 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2), “(c)Whoever corruptly— (2) otherwise obstructs, influences, or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
This was the same “obstructing an official proceeding” charge used against the January 6 defendants in the United States Capitol riot.
The bullshit excuse given...
Bowman’s office said it was an accident, and the congressman told reporters later Saturday: “I was trying to get to a door. I thought the alarm would open the door, and I pulled the fire alarm to open the door by accident.”
Un--fricken-believable!
Bottom line…
The bad news is that some Republicans are Democrats, but no Democrats are Republicans.
It was disgusting to see the Senate Democrats, notably Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senate President Pro Tem Patty Murray (D-WA), take a victory lap as they celebrate their victory over crucial commonsense legislative reform.
The progressive communist democrats won this round. Will the G.O.P. win the next? Or, will the football be snatched away at the last moment?
We are so screwed.
