There is no doubt in my mind that Representative Jamal Bowman, a radical far-left “Squad” member, attempted to disrupt or obstruct a congressional proceeding, specifically during a debate on a government-funding bill to avert a government shutdown, when he knowingly and deliberately pulled a fire alarm in the Canon House Building.

Instead of a felony charge for violating 18 U.S.C. 1505, Bowman was charged with a local misdemeanor for pulling a fire alarm under false pretenses. Bowman’s representative reached an agreement with the D.C. attorney general for the charges to be withdrawn in three months in exchange for a formal apology and a $1,000 fine.  The D.C. Attorney General's office says Bowman was charged with "the only crime we that we have jurisdiction to prosecute" based on the Capitol Police findings.

Bowman’s complicit proof of guilt lies in a video recording that allegedly shows Bowman pulling the alarm and removing nearby warning signs.

His unbelievably lame excuse at the time was…

"Today, as I was rushing to make a vote, I came to a door that is usually open for votes but today would not open. I am embarrassed to admit that I activated the fire alarm, mistakenly thinking it would open the door. I regret this and sincerely apologize for any confusion this caused."

Bowman’s statement…

"I’m thankful for the quick resolution from the District of Columbia Attorney General’s office on this issue and grateful that the United States Capitol Police General Counsel’s office agreed I did not obstruct nor intend to obstruct any House vote or proceedings. I am responsible for activating a fire alarm, I will be paying the fine issued, and look forward to these charges being ultimately dropped."

Bottom line…

It is unlikely that someone will send a criminal referral to the U.S. Attorney General's office at the Biden Department of Justice or that A.G. Merrick Garland would prosecute Bowman.

It's too bad that the January 6 protestors did not receive the same courtesy.

We are so screwed.
