All of our enemies talk about killing Americans. Yet, many of our politicians, celebrities, academics, elites, and others are openly accepting of Hamas terrorism and urging Israel to show restraint when attempting to punish Hamas and prevent another terrorist strike.
Substituting progressive moral equivalency, the notion that all moral claims are equally valid, for common sense and historical antecedents.
As I write this, I see that Hamas rockets are still falling in the Israeli area known as the Gaza Envelope.
It is crucial to recognize that moral equivalency can be a double-edged sword, leading to unforeseen consequences and fatal outcomes.
Moral equivalency blurs the lines between good and evil and right and wrong, making it easier for individuals or groups to justify acts of violence in the name of religion, ideology, or politics.
When all moral beliefs are considered equally valid, even those rooted in intolerance, hatred, and bigotry, it becomes challenging for those in leadership or prominent positions to condemn shocking and horrifying actions unequivocally. This moral ambiguity can allow the spread and normalization of extremist ideologies and dangerous radicalization.
Likewise, when moral equivalency is allowed to flourish, accountability is degraded, which allows dangerous and harmful behaviors to go unchecked, often escalating into broader conflicts and the loss of life.
Moreover, if all moral beliefs are considered equally valid, it fosters apathy and indifference and erases the distinction between good and evil and right and wrong. Obliterating concerns for inalienable human rights, such as the right to live unmolested by aggressors, be they individuals, organizations, or nations.
There is no doubt that promoting moral equivalency, when extreme and harmful beliefs are given the same weight as tolerant and inclusive ones, intensifies the polarization and division within communities, escalating tensions and conflicts and creating an environment susceptible to hostility and violence.
Starting the story in the middle…
It is a common tactic for the progressive communist democrats to start the story in the middle, ignoring horrendous acts of violence that preceded a retaliatory strike meant to protect genuine victims from further aggression.
I find it reprehensible that Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) did not demand the release of all hostages kidnapped by Hamas, including young women and children, before demanding that the United States intervene in the Middle East to demand an Israeli cease-fire. Or before the rockets stop falling on Israel and deliberately ignoring the heinous act that saw the largest loss of Jewish lives since the Holocaust.
"How do you look at one atrocity and say, 'This is wrong,' but you watch as bodies pile up as neighborhoods are leveled? Israel has dropped more bombs in the last 10 days then we dropped in a whole year in Afghanistan. Where is your humanity? Where is your outrage? Where is your care for people?" Omar said at a press conference.
[OCS: This is moral equivalency. A majority of Gazans supported the attack on Israeli. A majority of Gazans elected Hamas, a known terrorist group, to be their representatives. And, the Isralis are making an extraordinary effort to target Hamas terrorists who often hide behind human shields.]
"You can harass me, you can threaten me, you can follow me around, but I am never going to stop saying, 'Palestinians deserve freedom that we need to free Palestine,' and I am never going to stop saying that there is no way that we should allow in sending more bombardments to kill Palestinians," Omar said.
[OCS: Free Palestine is an Islamic code phrase meaning an area free of Jews – from the River (Jordan) to the Sea (Mediterranean).
You don’t hear Omar condemning Hamas for slaughtering innocents in Israel, many horrifically tortured to death. Nor do you hear Omar condemning Hamas for holding their own people hostage and placing weapons next to private homes, hospitals, schools, and Mosques to deter retaliatory fire or to create dead individuals that can be exploited for media attention.
It was Omar who rushed before media cameras to denounce Israel for an airstrike against a Gaza hospital that left 500 dead, including doctors, nurses, women, and children. Truth be told, it was a Hamas propaganda ploy. The source of the explosion was a faulty rocket targeted at Israel. It did not strike the hospital but a nearby parking lot. If anyone was killed, it was less than twenty-five individuals. The missile launchers were located behind the hospital.
Progressive communist democrats cannot be trusted with the safety and security of the United States.
We are so screwed.
