THE WISDOM OF THE PAST AMERICA IGNORES

Btf

Seventy-two years ago, a Republican Senator, a woman from Maine, stood up for America. Her speech to the Senate, a "Declaration of Conscience," has never been more relevant.

Margaret_Chase_Smith"Declaration of Conscience."

For Release Upon Delivery
Statement of Senator Margaret Chase Smith
June 1, 1950

Mr. President:

I would like to speak briefly and simply about a serious national condition. It is a national feeling of fear and frustration that could result in national suicide and the end of everything that we Americans hold dear. It is a condition that comes from the lack of effective leadership in either the Legislative Branch or the Executive Branch of our Government.

That leadership is so lacking that serious and responsible proposals are being made that national advisory commissions be appointed to provide such critically needed leadership.
I speak as briefly as possible because too much harm has already been done with irresponsible words of bitterness and selfish political opportunism. I speak as simply as possible because the issue is too great to be obscured by eloquence. I speak simply and briefly in the hope that my words will be taken to heart.

I speak as a Republican, I speak as a woman. I speak as a United States Senator. I speak as an American.

The United States Senate has long enjoyed worldwide respect as the greatest deliberative body in the world. But recently that deliberative character has too often been debased to the level of a forum of hate and character assassination sheltered by the shield of congressional immunity.

It is ironical that we Senators can in debate in the Senate directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to any American, who is not a Senator, any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming an American -- and without that non-Senator American having any legal redress against us -- yet if we say the same thing in the Senate about our colleagues we can be stopped on the grounds of being out of order.

It is strange that we can verbally attack anyone else without restraint and with full protection and yet we hold ourselves above the same type of criticism here on the Senate Floor. Surely the United States Senate is big enough to take self-criticism and self-appraisal. Surely we should be able to take the same kind of character attacks that we dish out to outsiders.

I think that it is high time for the United States Senate and its members to do some soul searching -- for us to weigh our consciences -- on the manner in which we are performing our duty to the people of America -- on the manner in which we are using or abusing our individual powers and privileges.

I think that it is high time that we remembered that we have sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution. I think that it is high time that we remembered; that the Constitution, as amended, speaks not only of the freedom of speech but also of trial by jury instead of trial by accusation.

Whether it be a criminal prosecution in court or a character prosecution in the Senate, there is little practical distinction when the life of a person has been ruined.
Those of us who shout the loudest about Americanism in making character assassinations are all too frequently those who, by our own words and acts, ignore some of the basic principles of Americanism –

The right to criticize;
The right to hold unpopular beliefs;
The right to protest;
The right of independent thought.

The exercise of these rights should not cost one single American citizen his reputation or his right to a livelihood nor should he be in danger of losing his reputation or livelihood merely because he happens to know someone who holds unpopular beliefs. Who of us doesn't? Otherwise none of us could call our souls our own. Otherwise thought control would have set in.

The American people are sick and tired of being afraid to speak their minds lest they be politically smeared as "Communists" or "Fascists" by their opponents. Freedom of speech is not what it used to be in America. It has been so abused by some that it is not exercised by others.
The American people are sick and tired of seeing innocent people smeared and guilty people whitewashed. But there have been enough proved cases to cause nationwide distrust and strong suspicion that there may be something to the unproved, sensational accusations.
As a Republican, I say to my colleagues on this side of the aisle that the Republican Party faces a challenge today that is not unlike the challenge that it faced back in Lincoln's day. The Republican Party so successfully met that challenge that it emerged from the Civil War as the champion of a united nation -- in addition to being a Party that unrelentingly fought loose spending and loose programs.

Today our country is being psychologically divided by the confusion and the suspicions that are bred in the United States Senate to spread like cancerous tentacles of "know nothing, suspect everything" attitudes. Today we have a Democratic Administration that has developed a mania for loose spending and loose programs. History is repeating itself -- and the Republican Party again has the opportunity to emerge as the champion of unity and prudence.

The record of the present Democratic Administration has provided us with sufficient campaign issues without the necessity of resorting to political smears. America is rapidly losing its position as leader of the world simply because the Democratic Administration has pitifully failed to provide effective leadership.

The Democratic Administration has completely confused the American people by its daily contradictory grave warnings and optimistic assurances -- that show the people that our Democratic Administration has no idea of where it is going.

The Democratic Administration has greatly lost the confidence of the American people by its complacency to the threat of communism here at home and the leak of vital secrets to Russia through key officials of the Democratic Administration. There are enough proved cases to make this point without diluting our criticism with unproved charges.

Surely these are sufficient reasons to make it clear to the American people that it is time for a change and that a Republican victory is necessary to the security of this country. Surely it is clear that this nation will continue to suffer as long as it is governed by the present ineffective Democratic Administration.

Yet to displace it with a Republican regime embracing a philosophy that lacks political integrity or intellectual honesty would prove equally disastrous to this nation. The nation sorely needs a Republican victory. But I don't want to see the Republican Party ride to political victory on the Four Horsemen of Calumny -- Fear, Ignorance, Bigotry and Smear.

I doubt if the Republican Party could -- simply because I don't believe the American people will uphold any political party that puts political exploitation above national interest. Surely we Republicans aren't that desperate for victory.
I don't want to see the Republican Party win that way. While it might be a fleeting victory for the Republican Party, it would be a more lasting defeat for the American people. Surely it would ultimately be suicide for the Republican Party and the two-party system that has protected our American liberties from the dictatorship of a one party system.

As members of the Minority Party, we do not have the primary authority to formulate the policy of our Government. But we do have the responsibility of rendering constructive criticism, of clarifying issues, of allaying fears by acting as responsible citizens.

As a woman, I wonder how the mothers, wives, sisters and daughters feel about the way in which members of their families have been politically mangled in Senate debate -- and I use the word 'debate' advisedly.

As a United States Senator, I am not proud of the way in which the Senate has been made a publicity platform for irresponsible sensationalism. I am not proud of the reckless abandon in which unproved charges have been hurled from this side of the aisle. I am not proud of the obviously staged, undignified countercharges that have been attempted in retaliation from the other side of the aisle.

I don't like the way the Senate has been made a rendezvous for vilification, for selfish political gain at the sacrifice of individual reputations and national unity. I am not proud of the way we smear outsiders from the Floor of the Senate and hide behind the cloak of congressional immunity and still place ourselves beyond criticism on the Floor of the Senate.

As an American, I am shocked at the way Republicans and Democrats alike are playing directly into the Communist design of "confuse, divide and conquer." As an American, I don't want a Democratic Administration "white wash" or "cover up" any more than I want a Republican smear or witch hunt.

As an American, I condemn a Republican "Fascist" just as much as I condemn a Democrat "Communist." I condemn a Democrat "fascist" just as much as I condemn a Republican "Communist." They are equally dangerous to you and me and to our country.

As an American, I want to see our nation recapture the strength and unity it once had when we fought the enemy instead of ourselves.

It is with these thoughts I have drafted what I call a "Declaration of Conscience." I am gratified that Senator Tobey, Senator Aiken, Senator Morse, Senator Ives, Senator Thye and Senator Hendrickson, have concurred in that declaration and have authorized me to announce their concurrence.

Bottom line…

One of the reasons the progressive communist democrats want to erase history is so that American citizens do not see the mistakes of the past and take corrective action.

It is almost inconceivable that Senator Susan Collins, the current Republican Senator from Maine, also a woman, would have the guts to stand up to the Democrats she often sides with.

Until we start electing principled Senators to the United States Senate, we are so screwed.

THE FAILURE OF UVALDE IS THE FAILURE OF AMERICA

What’s on my mind today…

TODAYS-RANT

THE FAILURE OF UVALDE IS THE FAILURE OF AMERICA

We are learning that sufficient resources were on-scene at the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, to halt and neutralize the shooter in time to save children. Yet, the on-scene commander chose to wait – for what is unclear.

Initiative and courage are dying. A lack of leadership plagues our country. Populated by many jumped-up middle managers who are so afraid of the adverse consequences of being held accountable for their actions, either legally or in the corrupt mainstream media, their natural proclivity is to wait for guidance from someone more senior. And, if there is no one more senior suffering paralysis by analysis.

Part of this is the vilification of law enforcement by communist front groups like Black Lives Matter. And the selection and promotion of critical leadership by progressives who use a check-the-box approach to identity politics where color and gender trump competence.

The failure to learn from the history of the Columbine High School Shooting was apparent.

NRA-BENEFACTOR-1

FOURTEEN REPUBLICAN SENATORS WANT TO IMPOSE GUN RESTRICTIONS  ON LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS THAT ARE INEFFECTIVE AGAINST CRIMINALS, CRAZIES, AND TERRORISTS WHO DO NOT RESPECT NOR OBEY ANY LAW.

Not so coincidently, these are the RINO (Republican In Name Only) squishes who vote to advance the progressive communist democrat agenda killing the Constitution and the America we love.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Todd Young (R-IN), John Cornyn (R-TX), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Richard Burr (R-NC), Susan Collins (R-ME), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Rob Portman (R-OH), Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO).

All chameleons who will do or say anything to preserve their perks, privileges, and purloined profits.

OUR ECONOMY IS NO BUENO AS ILLEGAL ALIENS POUR OVER THE BORDER

We are seeing the implementation of the Cloward–Piven strategy, designed by socialist sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and his wife, Frances Fox Piven. The plan is to overload the healthcare, educational, and welfare systems to precipitate a fiscal crisis that would lead to a more progressive government and replace the welfare system with “a guaranteed annual income” and other benefits administered by an authoritarian socialist system.

Precisely what we see implemented by the progressive communist democrats and their refusal to protect our Constitutional sovereignty and defend our nation’s borders.

THE ONLY THING BEING PUMPED IN BIDEN’S AMERICA IS BULLSHIT, AND THE LIFEBLOOD OF AMERICA

It is unconscionable that the Biden Administration is asking Saudi Arabia and Venezuela to pump more oil while restricting the energy development and production that made America energy independent eighteen months ago. It is beyond unconscionable; it is traitorous, especially when facing a multi-front war and depleting our petroleum reserves. This should be unacceptable as we see the Biden Administration caving to the faux unscientific climate change demands of the progressive communist democrats and their globalist alliance that appears to be little more than international socialism.

Bottom line...

The longer the progressive communist democrats are in power, the more destruction and pain we will experience.

We are so screwed.

ARE WE AT WAR WITH THE RUSSIANS IN UKRAINE OR THE DEMOCRATS AT HOME?

Uk-afI’m sorry. I am a constitutional conservative and an America First type of guy. Therefore, I have no desire to virtue signal my support for the Ukraine-Russia war other than to note it was not an unprovoked attack but appears to be a continuation of the U.S. State Department/CIA policy.

The Bush/Cheney effort marked the initial attempt to alter Ukraine/Russia relations with the CIA-led 2004 “Orange Revolution,” which led to the removal of the Yushchenko and his corrupt prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko.

In 2010, Yanukovych made a political comeback, won the presidential election, and reestablished closer ties with Moscow.

In 2013-2014, the Obama/Biden/Clinton State Department/CIA forces tried again, with a campaign nicknamed the “revolution of the Maidan,” named for the central square in Kyiv occupied by anti-government protesters.

A notorious leaked phone call between Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt documented Washington’s role in directing the right-wing campaign that ultimately drove Yanukovych into exile. Nuland boasted that the United States had expended $5 billion in Ukraine to promote its interests.

Ukraine: The Mess that Victoria Nuland Made

Victoria Nuland engineered Ukraine’s “regime change” in early 2014 without weighing the likely chaos and consequences.

As the Ukrainian army squares off against ultra-right and neo-Nazi militias in the west and violence against ethnic Russians continues in the east, the obvious folly of the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy has come into focus even for many who tried to ignore the facts, or what you might call “the mess that Victoria Nuland made.”

Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs “Toria” Nuland was the “mastermind” behind the Feb. 22, 2014 “regime change” in Ukraine, plotting the overthrow of the democratically elected government of President Viktor Yanukovych while convincing the ever-gullible U.S. mainstream media that the coup wasn’t really a coup but a victory for “democracy.”

To sell this latest neocon-driven “regime change” to the American people, the ugliness of the coup-makers had to be systematically airbrushed, particularly the key role of neo-Nazis and other ultra-nationalists from the Right Sektor. For the U.S.-organized propaganda campaign to work, the coup-makers had to wear white hats, not brown shirts. <Source>

For those who do not recognize Victoria Nuland’s name, she was a significant part of the proceedings during the impeachment of Donald Trump when he asked Ukraine President Zelensky to investigate Biden-related corruption in Ukraine.

Following what I believe is the Democrat-staged loss of an estimated $80 billion in U.S. infrastructure and weapons during the Biden Administration’s surrender of Afghanistan, the U.S. military-industrial complex, including cadres of well-paid mercenary contractors, needed another government teat -- a long-term source of continuing revenue.

So what I am now seeing is a continuation of that effort as the war in Ukraine…

NATO chief says Ukraine war could last ‘years’ and require long-term support.

The head of NATO cautioned on Sunday that the war in Ukraine could last years and urged Western nations to continue to provide military and humanitarian assistance in its fight against Russia.

Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said providing state-of-the-art weaponry to Ukrainian troops is critical in their effort to free the eastern Donbas region from Russian control, Bild am Sonntag reported. “We must prepare for the fact that it could take years. We must not let up in supporting Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said.

“Even if the costs are high, not only for military support, also because of rising energy and food prices,” he said.

Russia launched its invasion in Ukraine on Feb. 24 and set out to quickly take the capital Kyiv, but determined Ukrainian forces deterred the onslaught.Since then, the battlefield has shifted. <Source>

Should we care?

The Ukraine war appears to be a long-haul war of attrition where Russian manpower and Russia-manufactured weaponry will eventually succeed unless countered by weaponry and Western support. The gravest consequence of the war of attrition is that Ukraine will run out of fighters before Russia and will need NATO or American forces (one and the same) to fight Russia in the near future.

From January through June, the U.S. has provided more financial assistance and military aid ($40 - $60 billion) to Ukraine -- more than all other countries combined. Other than continuing U.S. employment and profits, I am hard-pressed to see a benefit to the American taxpayer.

Bottom line...

Are we prepared to spend $100 billion annually, more than the budget of the Department of Homeland Security, to defend the American Homeland? Protecting Ukraine’s borders and not ours -- which is the U.S. gateway to an invading hoard of illegal aliens, including criminals, crazies, and terrorists.

And, that’s not the worst part -- we will have to prop up the Ukraine government, including their salaries, pensions, and other benefits.

Not to mention that China controls 7% of Ukraine’s farmland and would be the direct beneficiaries of our generosity.

If Trump were the President, at least we might be getting oil, wheat, and other commodities in return.

Something stinks -- and I believe it is the Democrat Party which has consistently weakened the leadership of the U.S. military by purging highly-experienced leadership down to the non-com level.

Let us not forget that a corrupt Ukraine served as the piggy bank for many high-ranking U.S. politicians, former Vice President and now President Joe Biden included and that records and witnesses to the criminal activities of U.S. politicians and agencies can quickly disappear in the “fog of war.”

Where is the diplomacy? What can the combatants do to end the conflict? I say attack the oligarchs and make the continuing war unprofitable for both sides.

We are so screwed when there is no transparent foreign policy and our Democrat-run government is corrupt and compromised by the evildoers.

WHY AMERICAN POLITICIANS ARE FAILING

What is wrong with our political parties…

I find it impossible to believe that either of the major parties cares more about our beloved nation than they do about winning political power.

Americans do not have a choice of candidates; we have a choice between candidates—pre-selected by the parties based on the political popularity of the candidates, not necessarily their abilities or patriotism; and in the case of the progressive communist democrats, additionally by race and gender.

I find it offensive that the progressive communist democrats would even consider offering up an aging, feeble, incoherent Joe Biden, or the GOP would offer a highly polarizing Donald Trump – even though Trump has the best track record of any modern-day president. My fundamental objection to Trump is that he has abundant energy but is lazy and disorganized. He lacks the attention to detail necessary to do a deep dive to radically eliminate the embedded communist Clintonistas and Obamacons in the bureaucracy. It was this bureaucratic opposition that resisted his candidacy, retarded his ongoing Administration, and gave us Joe Biden.

FLAG-GBUSA

While politicians and their preferred ideologies and pet projects come and go, few recognize and analyze the cumulative effects on our economy, culture, and national defense. Few things in America are based on the "long game," with individuals and organizations concentrating on maximizing short-term gains.

Because America, as a whole, is productive and relatively affluent, some use this disparity between countries and individuals to stick their collective fingers into America's pie with little or no pushback from the politicians -- especially politicians on the take as unofficial foreign lobbyists.

It is now time to get tough.

Demand background checks for politicians and their staff. Improve asset disclosures. Eliminate insider trading protections. Demand that lobbyists, consultants, lawyers, accountants, and foreign-owned companies register under the FARA (Foreign Agents Registration Act). Punish violators with restrictions on doing business with the government and fines and other penalties. Restore accountability to leaders for the actions of their subordinates.

Back words with actions, being prepared and willing to punch back twice as hard as an attacker. Power, respect, and fear should be the goal -- not love and kind words in the media.

Ask what's next?

We are in uncharted waters, an unthinkable political reality-- with an Administration more concerned with managing perceptions through media messaging than taking action to resolve emergent issues.

Consider reality! Will the United States come to the aid of Taiwan, or are we just content to "sell" them weapons that American taxpayers ultimately subsidized and paid for? Walking away if there is a threat made against the American homeland?

While change is inevitable and driven by the rapid advance of technology and globalization, we are seeing the type of change produced by bad actors. Bad actors engaging in open information warfare and propaganda are driving and enlarging divisions between Americans based on identity classes. Chaos is being weaponized, and tolerance for shock troops on the left side of the political spectrum is becoming increasingly apparent.

Unfortunately, there remains a group of individuals, mostly government workers, who are isolated from the worst economic consequences by guaranteed employment, ever-increasing salaries, benefits, and cushy pensions. Conditions not found in the private sector. Unless these individuals are forced to deal with the reality facing most Americans, there will be little or no change.

Unfortunately, much of the chaos and angst is created by the progressive communist democrats and media propagandists -- and enforced by unions that have become little more than communist front groups. Not the rank-and-file, but the thuggish leadership.

The progressive communist democrats have been stress-testing America for decades, with their violations of the law and social norms becoming more egregious as time goes on.

It is almost inconceivable that our enemies are better equipped, better trained, and better prepared, and their leadership is more patriotic and prepared to execute aggressive actions -- but this is where we are heading under a weak American administration..

President Biden is incapable of executing his duties as the President of the United States and the Commander-in-Chief of the military. The idea that Jake Sullivan, Susan Rice, Samantha Power, and other members of Obama's cadre of communists are running our military is shocking. Yet, given the actions of Lloyd Austin, Mark Milley, and our recent surrender in Afghanistan, that's what appears to be happening. How else can you explain what is happening in Iran, Ukraine, and North Korea?

Bottom line...

There can be no American Dream without those who believe in American exceptionalism and who are willing to defend America from its enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Our President's success should be our success. His failure, our failure.

Prepare to fight for suitable candidates and choose wisely.

We are so screwed.

INTERNET SCAM SENT VIA REGULAR MAIL?

Yesterday I received a postcard that is apparently designed to look like an Amazon communication…

Unfortunately, the red flags are flying.

Front

  • Prominent Amazon logo.
  • There is no return address.
  • There is no stamp but a bulk indicia.
  • A non-Amazon email is listed on the card, and the QR code links to a non-Amazon site.

Back

  • Prominent Amazon logo.
  • Plausible “New Product Test Invitation.”
  • No mention of any product purchased.
  • Characterized as a membership “test club.”
  • Free merchandise offer.
  • Commission amount up to $40.
  • You need to register your name and contact information.
  • A non-Amazon email is listed on the card, and the QR code links to a non-Amazon site.

Why this is suspicious…

Amazon, for the most part, is an online operation. As one who allegedly purchased something, Amazon would already have your personal details, including your payment method. Had they decided to make an offer, it would have been as a pop-up screen after a successful log-in to their site or an email with a code to be used after a successful log-in to their site.

Additionally, a check of the domain name associated with the printed address indicates that the site was established by Alibaba Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and the QR code address indicates the site was established by GoDaddy.com, LLC on 2021-11-25 and expires on 2022-11-24 unless renewed. Both sites have hidden information masked by a privacy service.

What this appears to be…

My best guess is this is an email list-building effort to capture your contact details and any information your browser typically forwards when accessing a website.

Is it a scam? Who really knows? But it is deceptive as hell, which makes it a candidate for the shredder.

Bottom line…

The best advice comes from the Better Business Bureau: “Investigate BEFORE you invest.”

We are so screwed.

CLINTONS REACH THE HEIGHTS OF HUBRIS

Hillary-lying

In an ironic and classic display of projection, accusing the opposition of your own behavior, the Clintons make an outrageous statement.

The Clintons claim America is on the edge of losing democracy: Hillary says ‘everything that everybody else cares about’ could ‘go out the window’ and Bill tells James Corden he fears for the ‘structure of government’

  • Bill and Hillary Clinton suggested American democracy is teetering on the edge
  • The pair sat for separate interviews and painted bleak pictures of the future
  • Bill told James Corden that there is a ‘fair chance’ United States could ‘completely lose our constitutional democracy’
  • Hillary then told the Financial Times that the U.S. is on the ‘precipice of losing our democracy’
  • Follows the January 6 committee hearings and polls suggesting voters think American democracy may ‘cease’ to exist

Bill and Hillary Clinton both suggested that American democracy is teetering on the edge of existence in a pair of separate interviews this week.

The pair both said the government as we know it is at risk after the third January 6 committee hearing and a new poll saying a majority of both Democrats and Republicans believe America will ‘cease to exist’ as a democracy.

[OCS: There is little or no doubt in anyone’s mind that the illegitimate, one-sided Jan 6 Committee has but four goals: One, to distract the American public from the disastrous outcome of the Obama/Biden domestic and foreign policy failures; two, advance panic using fear porn that suggests the Republicans are out to subvert democracy; three, set the stage for recommending the elimination of the Electoral College, and four, disparage Trump to keep him off the 2024 ballot or preemptively damage his role as a political influencer.]

Former president Bill told CBS’s The Late Late Show host James Corden on Wednesday night that he fears the United States could ‘completely lose our constitutional democracy.’

Hillary painted a similarly bleak picture in an interview with the Financial Times in an interview published less than 48 hours later on Friday.

Reporter Edward Luce suggested to her that the Democrats’ seem to be going out of their way to lose elections by elevating activist causes, notably the transgender debate, which are relevant only to a small minority’.

‘We are standing on the precipice of losing our democracy, and everything that everybody else cares about then goes out the window.’

‘Look, the most important thing is to win the next election. The alternative is so frightening that whatever does not help you win should not be a priority. <Source>

[OCS: Saying the quiet part out loud. Vote Democrat or face destruction – unmindful that America is already experiencing devastation under the progressive communist democrats.]

No two individuals, other than former President Barack Obama, have brought so much corruption and communism to America.

To continue to give these two miscreants and unindicted felons any credibility is to join the ranks of the insane.

We are well and thoroughly screwed.

HOORAY! ELON MUSK PUSHES BACK AGAINST RADICAL LEFTIST TWITS AT SPACEX

Musk-1

I am not a special pleader for mega-entrepreneur Elon Musk and I am appalled that a cadre of radical progressive employees would attack Musk for his personal activities outside the scope of SpaceX. With some degree of pleasure, I note that the officious leftist twerps attacking Musk have been separated from the company.

SpaceX fires at least five for letter criticizing Elon Musk

Private rocket company SpaceX fired at least five employees after it found they had drafted and circulated a letter criticizing founder Elon Musk and urging executives to make the firm's culture more inclusive, two people familiar with the matter said.

SpaceX did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that SpaceX had fired employees associated with the letter, citing three employees with knowledge of the situation. It had not detailed the number of employees who had been dismissed.

SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell sent an email saying the company had investigated and "terminated a number of employees involved" with the letter, the New York Times said.

The newspaper said Shotwell's email said employees involved with circulating the letter had been fired for making other staff feel "uncomfortable, intimidated and bullied, and/or angry because the letter pressured them to sign onto something that did not reflect their views". <Source>

The letter…

An open letter to the Executives of SpaceX,

In light of recent allegations against our CEO and his public disparagement of the situation, we would like to deliver feedback on how these events affect our company’s reputation, and through it, our mission. Employees across the spectra of gender, ethnicity, seniority, and technical roles have collaborated on this letter. We feel it is imperative to maintain honest and open dialogue with each other to effectively reach our company’s primary goals together: making SpaceX a great place to work for all, and making humans a multiplanetary species.

[OCS: It appears that this letter was politically motivated by those who embrace radical far-left positions and are acting in sympathy with those opposing Musk’s attempt to eliminate censorship and return free speech to the Twitter platform.]

As SpaceX employees we are expected to challenge established processes, rapidly innovate to solve complex problems as a team, and use failures as learning opportunities. Commitment to these ideals is fundamental to our identity and is core to how we have redefined our industry. But for all our technical achievements, SpaceX fails to apply these principles to the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion with equal priority across the company, resulting in a workplace culture that remains firmly rooted in the status quo.

[OCS: As employees, you are entitled to your opinion and the right to speak out. However, as employees of  a private company, your comments and writings are not constitutionally protected and comments which defame, denigrate, disparage, or bring undue attention to the company subject you to internal disciplinary actions, including the risk of termination.]

Individuals and groups of employees at SpaceX have spent significant effort beyond their technical scope to make the company a more inclusive space via conference recruiting, open forums, feedback to leadership, outreach, and more. However, we feel an unequal burden to carry this effort as the company has not applied appropriate urgency and resources to the problem in a manner consistent with our approach to critical path technical projects. To be clear: recent events are not isolated incidents; they are emblematic of a wider culture that underserves many of the people who enable SpaceX’s extraordinary accomplishments. As industry leaders, we bear unique responsibility to address this.

Elon’s behavior in the public sphere is a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment for us, particularly in recent weeks. As our CEO and most prominent spokesperson, Elon is seen as the face of SpaceX—every Tweet that Elon sends is a de facto public statement by the company. It is critical to make clear to our teams and to our potential talent pool that his messaging does not reflect our work, our mission, or our values.

[OCS: What your CEO does or says is none of your concern. There is no concrete evidence that Musk’s behavior or pronouncements have impacted company financing or operations other than annoying a woke cadre of overly-sensitive, politically-motivated snowflakes that need to have their security clearances re-examined for links to potentially hostile threats.]

SpaceX’s current systems and culture do not live up to its stated values, as many employees continue to experience unequal enforcement of our oft-repeated “No Asshole” and “Zero Tolerance” policies. This must change. As a starting point, we are putting forth the following categories of action items, the specifics of which we would like to discuss in person with the executive team within a month:

[OCS: I know of no large company that lives up to its stated values on all levels and encompassing all employees. And, if you were to eliminate driven quirky leadership, there would be few billion-dollar unicorns that employ thounsands of employees.]

Publicly address and condemn Elon’s harmful Twitter behavior. SpaceX must swiftly and explicitly separate itself from Elon’s personal brand.

[OCS: If you are embarrassed or stressed by your CEO’s behavior, which is really none of your concern, or the ethics of your employer – quit! Keep your comments private or suffer the consequences.]

Hold all leadership equally accountable to making SpaceX a great place to work for everyone. Apply a critical eye to issues that prevent employees from fully performing their jobs and meeting their potential, pursuing specific and enduring actions that are well resourced, transparent, and treated with the same rigor and urgency as establishing flight rationale after a hardware anomaly.

[OCS: Companies are not governed by a mobocracy. Few company policies are likely to satisfy all employees all of the time.]

Define and uniformly respond to all forms of unacceptable behavior. Clearly define what exactly is intended by SpaceX’s “no-asshole” and “zero tolerance” policies and enforce them consistently. SpaceX must establish safe avenues for reporting and uphold clear repercussions for all unacceptable behavior, whether from the CEO or an employee starting their first day.

[OCS: And who designed a few outspoken employees to be the morality police.]

We care deeply about SpaceX’s mission to make humanity multiplanetary. But more importantly, we care about each other. The collaboration we need to make life multiplanetary is incompatible with a culture that treats employees as consumable resources. Our unique position requires us to consider how our actions today will shape the experiences of individuals beyond our planet. Is the culture we are fostering now the one which we aim to bring to Mars and beyond?

We have made strides in that direction, but there is so much more to accomplish.

Screw stakeholder capitalism which is little more than soft socialism …

Pressures facing corporations

PLAYERS

Let us consider what corporations owe to the community…

(1)  Above all, corporations have a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to produce an acceptable return on their invested funds. Notice that I said shareholders – not stakeholders who may not contribute to the company's profitability or may not wish the company well.

(2)  Corporations have a duty to produce goods and services that can be profitably merchandised. Not to support controversial issues that introduce unneeded and unacceptable risk into company operations or alienate a large segment of the public.

(3)  Corporations owe their employees a safe working environment that minimizes adverse outcomes and pays employees wages consistent with market norms. Employees are free to accept work and negotiate for better wages or different working conditions -- or quit!

(4)  Corporations have a duty to be good members of the community by following the rule of law, respecting everyone, and paying taxes..

(5)  To the extent a corporation voluntarily engages in community activities, it has a duty to do so without negative consequences to the company or its shareholders. <Source>

Bottom line…

I recognize and respect what Elon Musk has accomplished and care not a whit for what he does or says in his private life.

I am tired of hearing whiney little snowflakes attempt to exert control over enterprises they don’t own are who are but minor cogs in a much larger apparatus. Therefore I am heartened to see that mega-entrepreneur Elon Musk has allegedly fired the employees who attempted to politicize SpaceX and censure its CEO for exercising his free speech rights.

We are so screwed.

SCHIFFING ON LAW-ABIDING GUN OWNERS

What is it about these progressive communist democrats who favor criminals over victims and refuse to prosecute gun-related crimes while trying to disarm law-abiding citizens?

ADAM-SCHIFF-LOGO-2

Stephen,

Every industry in this country is subject to some form of legal liability except for onethe gun industry. And it’s time that survivors of gun violence and the families of victims get their day in court, when gun industry negligence has contributed to the tragedy.

[OCS: This is a bald-faced lie from a reviled liar/leaker who engages in perjury and the manipulation of evidence. Using the same logic, manufacturers of knives, cars, baseball bats, etc.]

The gun industry’s legal liability shield, passed in a 2005 federal law at the NRA’s behest, silences the voices of gun violence victims — even when gun makers and sellers act negligently.

[OCS: What the law does -- The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (15 USC §§ 7901–7903) is a United States law that protects firearms manufacturers and dealers from being held liable when crimes have been committed with their products. Both arms manufacturers and dealers can still be held liable for damages resulting from defective products, breach of contract, criminal misconduct, and other actions for which they are directly responsible. They may also be held liable for negligent entrustment when they have reason to know a gun is intended for use in a crime.]

The NRA called the bill their #1 legislative priority at the time. And no wonder.

Look, I don’t think that people should be able to buy assault weapons, period, and I favor banning them. And if the makers and sellers of these weapons are marketing them to kids, or negligent in how they sell them, and the purchasers go on to commit the kind of attacks we saw two 18-year-olds unleash in Buffalo and Uvalde last month, I don’t want the gun industry getting a pass. They should be held to the same standard of care as every other industry. But until we remove the gun industry’s legal liability shield, the survivors and families of victims can’t do a thing in court.

[OCS: There is no such thing as an “assault weapon” – a scary name used to demonize all semi-automatic rifles.  Fully-automatic military-grade weapons are strictly controlled, and possession is a crime without a federal license. Knowingly selling a weapon to an ineligible underage person, felon, or mentally defective person is already a crime and actionable in court.]

However, there is one way we can change that:

I’ve taken the fight to the gun lobby by introducing the Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act so that victims and their families would have the right to hold gun manufacturers and sellers accountable just like every other American industry — and force them to make their products safer and use best practices when they sell them. President Biden has called this legislation his very top priority when it comes to gun safety.

[OCS: This is nonsensical and a political stunt to disarm law-abiding individuals by decreasing the supply of weapons from manufacturers scared of legal liabilities that could bankrupt their companies. Even an unsuccessful lawsuit is expensive to defend – multiplied by numerous frivolous lawsuits from bad political actors.]

“Most people don’t realize: The only industry in America, billion-dollar industry, that can’t be sued, exempt from being sued, are gun manufacturers…If I get one thing on my list, Lord came down and said, ‘Joe, you get one of these,’ give me that one.” — President Joe Biden.

[OCS: Nice to see a coherent thought from some staffer delivered by an incoherent puppet of the Obama regime. But, like most of what Joe Biden says, it’s based on a lie.]

When you peel back the layers, there is a reason that stopping my bill is also the top priority for gun makers and dealers:

For the gun industry and the Republican senators whose campaigns they sponsor, it’s about money. Dollars and cents. Profits. The bottom line. That’s it. That’s all. Not the safety of our communities or their products. Not kids’ lives. Nothing else matters.

[No! You putz. It’s about freedom, the Constitution, the Second Amendment, and protection against government tyranny.]

So I’m asking for your help to change that, so victims and their families can sue the gun industry for the carnage they are unleashing on innocent folks across our country when they act negligently — the only country that experiences this epidemic of gun violence.

[OCS:  How about a law that limits attorney’s fees in multi-million dollar cases?]

Add your name as a citizen co-sponsor of my Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act today and together, let’s finally hold the gun industry accountable to the victims and families when they act negligently towards the public safety.

[OCS: I would rather be a citizen co-sponsor of a law that held criminals responsible for crime and implemented a three-strikes rule for gun-wielding gang members and criminals.]

ADD YOUR NAME

Thanks for raising your voice on such an important issue.

— Adam

Should a gun manufacturer be held responsible for the actions of the piece of shit that shot two police officers while out on parole because a progressive communist democrat District Attorney, George Gascon, gave him a pass on a gun-related felony charge?

Gg-1

We are so screwed when they demand gun control and ignore crime control.
