I find it appalling that New York magazine would produce a 59-page special section honoring a black thug, Trayvon Martin, as if he were a civil rights martyr and repeating many of the media-concocted falsehoods of the day.

“On February 26, 2012, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida, because as a Black boy walking in a gated community, he was deemed “suspicious.” Zimmerman’s acquittal appalled a nation often willfully blind to the vulnerability of living while Black. The truth is uncomplicated.

Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old thug with a history of theft and thuggery, was observed by a neighborhood watch member, George Zimmerman, behaving suspiciously (walking between houses) in a gated community that experienced break-ins and property thefts. It appears that Zimmerman did everything right and notified the police. While the police were en route, Martin chose to violently confront an armed Zimmerman who, while fighting on the ground and fearing for his life, shot and killed Martin.

However, seeking a sensational story, the media crafted a false scenario of an armed white wannabe police officer attacking an innocent black teenager. Add the black activists and their bullhorns, the media echo chamber, and a decade of rioting ensued.

Bottom line…

The Trayvon Martin story is not worth telling, nor is the persecution, not prosecution, of George Zimmerman, other than to say that it was a dishonest media and black activists who turned a criminal-citizen encounter into a racial statement. If anything. Zimmerman, whose life was destroyed, was the real victim – followed by a public subjected to falsehoods, riots, and mayhem.

This is what happens when the narrative replaces the news. Something that is increasingly destroying our nation.

We are so screwed.
