One of my readers asked how I prepared to write my blog. As I comb through the news for interesting insights, I take notes in the same format as my blog. Then I choose what I believe we should all know or consider.
Here is an example.
Fact: natural disasters produce horrific tragedies that do not respect people or political agendas...
I am disgusted by those who are exploiting the death and destruction of a series of natural disasters to promote their toxic ideological agenda. I wonder how many people are stupid enough to believe that the solution to these tragedies is paying higher taxes, driving less, using electric cars, using more wind and solar power -- all constructs to manipulate the population and produce profits for the special interests -- most with political connections with access to the taxpayer's funds.
To those who suggest we can alter the output of the Sun, the course of the deep ocean currents, volcanic activity, hurricanes, and such -- you are corrupt liars who cannot be trusted. Want to see corruption up close and personal, look at the developers who have paid the politicians to alter building codes to reduce the cost of construction or issue building permits in places prone to repetitive natural disasters?
To those politicians and media talking heads who are screaming about global warming: show me the proof -- not the output of flawed computer models using dodgy data that are accepted as fact because it advances your political agenda. There were fierce storms prior to the industrial revolution, so STFU!
Why is every solution linked to a bigger government? The so-called climate change provisions in Build Back Better are bullshit! How can you continue to believe Democrats who tell you that our Southern border is closed when you can see with your own eyes that thousands per hay are entering the U.S.?
Biden’s Tariff Hike on Canadian Lumber Is a Mistake
Despite rising shelter costs, the Biden administration has shockingly doubled the tariff on Canadian softwood lumber to 17.9 percent from the current rate of 8.99 percent. This tariff hike will almost surely be passed on to consumers in the form of higher lumber and housing prices and will almost certainly exacerbate current supply-chain problems. Just as lumber prices are beginning to fall from the all-time highs reached this past summer, the Biden tariffs will almost certainly slow the process. Worse, White House policy looks likely to set off a broader trade dispute with Canada. <Source>
[OCS: Let us not forget that a tariff is not a charge against Canada, but a tax imposed by American on its citizens to persuade them to purchase domestic goods instead of foreign goods. Like all cost of goods, including general, administrative, and tax expenses, they are priced into the goods and services and passed along to the consumer.
What is rarely mentioned is that American suppliers will also raise their prices to just under the price of foreign goods and get to blame the “government” for any windfall profits. Additionally, and more importantly, increased prices means increased taxes and the government benefits greatly from another hidden tax that does not appear on your tax return. Not to mention the ripple effect when the cost of materials is surcharged by architects, contractors, and others.]
The SALT (State and Local Tax) deduction from your federal income taxes helps the wealthy and penalizes the middle class. Exactly the opposite of what the progressive communist democrats promised. So why is the head of the teacher's union promoting the SALT deduction?
The teachers union chief wants to give millionaires a tax break.
But in tying that deduction to progressive spending at the state and local levels, participants gave away their real reason for wanting the SALT deduction: It encourages higher state and local spending on teacher pay and pensions. As New York Rep. Tom Suozzi admitted, “We’ve chosen in our states to tax people to do progressive policies.” Which is why Ms. Weingarten was right there beside him. <Source>

Spielberg's Woke Take on "West Side Story" Performs Like You'd Expect Woke Productions Do
Go woke, go broke. It’s a phrase that needs to be slapped onto the first page of the “best business practices” handbook, and yet despite repeated failures from productions and products leaning hard to the left, industries just aren’t getting it. The latest proof is the returns for Steven Spielberg’s latest outing, the “West Side Story” revamp.
Spielberg refused to make the Spanish-speaking parts in the movie subtitled, claiming the reason was that if he did that then he would be giving English power over Spanish. This is in conjunction with refusing to hire anyone who isn’t from, or descended from, a “Latinx” country.
“That was very important and that goes hand-in-hand with my reasoning for not subtitling the Spanish. If I subtitled the Spanish I’d simply be doubling down on the English and giving English the power over the Spanish. This was not going to happen in this film, I needed to respect the language enough not to subtitle it.”
It’s a very woke position to take, and like most woke positions, it’s absolute nonsense. If people can’t understand the points of dialogue, it only makes the movie harder to follow. Moreover, putting down subtitles does not give one language power over another…it’s just translation.
But the reference to the Latin community as “Latinx” probably didn’t help. The Latin community has repeatedly made it clear that they don’t like the term, yet the “progressive” left continues to use it as if they know better. <Source>
[OCS: Film is a visual medium where stories are told visually and sound is an enhancement. But anything that detracts from the enjoyment and understanding of the story is clearly a negative as it diverts the audience’s attention. If Spielberg were truly a master of his craft dialogue would be superfluous. However, it appears that the film became a progressive passion project to virtue signal the Academy and woke Hollywood hipsters. I wonder how the investors and distributors feel about the wasted potential of a profitable movie
Only in progressive dogma is the use of language an instrument of oppression rather than understanding]?
El Salvador's President Accuses Biden Administration of Corruption -- and Drops Private Text Messages When Challenged
Apparently, the Biden administration’s relationship with El Salvador is on rocky ground. If you know anything about the history involved, those on the ideological left do not like Nayib Bukele, who is halfway through his first five-year term.
For example, here’s Amnesty International painting him as some kind of horrific dictator. Yet, when you drill down into their arguments, they appear to be that 1) he doesn’t support abortion, 2) he criticizes the press openly, and 3) that his party won a majority and has used that power to constitute their policies.
He took over a country drenched in corruption, carrying the world’s highest homicide rate and a narco-dependent economy.
[OCS: It appears that the Biden Administration is attempting to interfere in the internal affairs of El Salvador.
“US Ambassador to El Salvador asking for the release of a man named Neto Muyshondt. Musyshondt was previously arrested on charges related to using government funds to pay off gang members and drug trafficking. For some reason, the United States is really interested in Muyshondt being released.”
The President of El Salvador complained in a tweet.
The United States complained.
And Nayib Bukele responded with proof…
Notice that the US has not questioned the validity of charges against Muyshondt. So what exactly is going on here? <Source>
Another CIA/State Department off-books operation to generate untraceable funds? An covert coup attempt? Both are known to be historically supported CIA/State Department activities. Since this is the Biden Administration, has anyone checked to see if Hunter Biden in doing business in El Salvador?
Let us not forget, the United States does have a legitimate interest in El Salvador – combatting Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13). the ruthless narco-gang that has spread widely in the United States.]
Derek Chauvin Expected to Plead Guilty to Federal Civil Rights Charges
Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is expected to plead guilty to federal civil rights charges this Wednesday.
Chauvin initially entered a not-guilty plea, but a court entry on Monday showed that a hearing was scheduled for Wednesday to change the plea, the Associated Press reported. The court system notified media outlets of the hearing and told journalists to attend. <Source>
[OCS: This makes little or no sense to me, but then again, its Chauvin’s life and his faith in his attorney to do the right thing. Again, I believe Chauvin is an innocent victim of the propagandists in the progressive communist democrat media and the Democrat racists in the government who are exploiting a predictable death for political purposes.]
Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, channels Orwell…
Facebook (aka “Meta”) tells the truth…
In a defamation case between John Stossel and Facebook et. al, we find two interesting fundamental facts that are almost universally ignored by the progressive propagandists in the mainstream media.
(1) Facebook is a publisher and thus not entitled to Section 230 protections.
“Stossel’s defamation claim takes direct aim at Meta’s First Amendment rights by challenging its editorial decision to publish fact-checks. As numerous courts have recognized, “Facebook [has a] First Amendment right to decide what to publish and what not to publish on its platform.” La'Tiejira v. Facebook, Inc., 272 F. Supp. 3d 981, 991 (S.D. Tex. 2017).”
(2) Fact-checking is really opinion-checking.
“For another, Stossel’s claims focus on the fact-check articles written by Climate Feedback, not the labels affixed through the Facebook platform. The labels themselves are neither false nor defamatory; to the contrary, they constitute protected opinion”
