Eric Adams Says Vote Counting Raises ‘Serious Questions’ after Losing Ground In NYC Mayor’s Race
The NYC mayoral ranked-choice update is promising for the Garcia campaign and represents a significant improvement in her election performance, given that she only garnered 19.5 percent of the vote with 84 percent of ballots tallied last Wednesday.
As of early evening Tuesday, presumably in response to the Adams statement, NYC Board of Elections (NYCBOE) tweeted a notice acknowledging a discrepancy in the “unofficial RCV round by round elimination report.”
“We are aware there is a discrepancy in the unofficial RCV round by round elimination report. We are working with our RCV technical staff to identify where the discrepancy occurred. We ask the public, elected officials and candidates to have patience,” NYCBOE said.
[OCS: Playing the race card…] “Everyone knows that every layer you put in place in the process, you lose Black and brown voters and participation,” Adams said in an interview with Politico in November 2020. “We can’t disenfranchise those voters.” <Source>
But how can this be?
New York is a majority Democrat stronghold. Democrats control almost all political matters. Democrats are honest and ethical, incapable of running a dirty election or tampering with the vote. Comrade Bill de Blasio governs the City of New York, a progressive communist democrat whose policies (or should I say his wife’s policies) have destroyed much of the City.
Ranked voting is an abomination that needs to be outlawed…
A ranked-choice voting system (RCV) is an electoral system in which voters rank candidates by preference on their ballots. If a candidate wins a majority of first-preference votes, he or she is declared the winner. If no candidate wins a majority of first-preference votes, the candidate with the fewest first-preference votes is eliminated. First-preference votes cast for the failed candidate are eliminated, lifting the second-preference choices indicated on those ballots. A new tally is conducted to determine whether any candidate has won a majority of the adjusted votes. The process is repeated until a candidate wins an outright majority.
Proponents of RCV claim that RCV ensures that candidates with the most votes and broadest support win, so voters get what they want. Candidates who are opposed by a majority of voters can never win ranked choice voting elections. The goal is to eliminate “fringe candidates” who may win a plurality as the top-tier candidates split the majority of the vote. It also ensures minorities win in heavily minority areas … if they can mobilize and control the vote with absentee ballots, unsupervised ballot boxes, and ballot harvesting.
Because the winner is determined by calculation rather than simple counting, the system may be prone to manipulation by corrupt election officials and workers.
New York City used ranked-choice voting for the first time in a mayoral primary election on June 22, 2021
Unofficial election night results for the Democratic primary were released on June 22, 2021. On June 29, the New York City Board of Elections released an unofficial round of RCV results, but later issued a statement saying it had erroneously counted 135,000 sample ballot images as votes. The statement said that revised results would be posted on June 30. More than 207,000 absentee ballots were distributed in the Democratic primary. As of June 28, approximately 125,000 had been returned.
Adams, boo effin hoo!
Let the New York elite Democrats reap the plague that they sow.
My personal belief is that Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, would be perfect for the New York mayor's job. He protects the weak, knows the city, works with all types of people, and has the rare gift of common sense.
