TRUMP -- BIDEN DEBATE: A VIEW FROM THE SOUNDBOARD
The morning after the debate…
Reading the usual plethora of pontificating partisan pundits, we see that their particular candidate dominated the debate and should be declared the winner. Other than the varying degrees of dissatisfaction with the opposition candidate, the only thing that was universally evident is that the moderator, Fox News host Mike Wallace, did a piss-poor job and appeared to favor the Democrat candidate—often appearing to directly engage with Trump and side with Biden.
But the most transparent view of the debate is probably that from the sound mixer’s console…
No matter how you viewed the debate, it was mostly a cacophony of disrespectful and discordant noise as the three ranted, raved, and talked over each other. Nothing was said that you hadn’t heard before. The key takeaway was Joe Biden’s open and blatant disrespect for the President of the United States.
Even the Debate Commission was displeased with the results of the first debate…
“The Commission on Presidential Debates sponsors televised debates for the benefit of the American electorate. Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues. The CPD will be carefully considering the changes that it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly. The Commission is grateful to Chris Wallace for the professionalism and skill he brought to last night’s debate and intends to ensure that additional tools to maintain order are in place for the remaining debates.”
One suggestion would be cutting off the microphones after the pre-determined time and allowing only one microphone to be live at a time, with the moderator’s microphone overriding those of the candidates. Of course, this would reduce the entertainment value of the debate and lower the ratings.
How crazy are the pundits?
Consider that George Will, characterized as an American libertarian-conservative political commentator, suggests that the remaining two presidential debates be canceled. Of course, this should come as no surprise since Will is employed by the uber-progressive Washington Post.
For the sake of the country, cancel the remaining debates
"The putrescence of America’s public life was pitilessly displayed Tuesday when, for 98 minutes, whatever remains of the nation’s domestic confidence and international stature shriveled like a brittle autumn leaf. The national interest — actually, national security — demands that the other two scheduled mortifications, fraudulently advertised as presidential debates, should be canceled..."
"Presidential debates test next to nothing that is germane to the performance of presidential duties. Biden’s ungraceful scrum with someone unhinged and uninformed was an event with no analogue in a well-managed presidency." <Source>
What an elitist schmuck -- a member of the media trying to censor the debate participants to deny the American people an opportunity to see an unfiltered view of the candidates.
Bottom line…
Unfortunately, there was no clear winner unless you give former Vice President Biden credit for remaining upright and mostly lucid during the 90-minute debate. However, there was a clear loser, the American voter.
I am looking forward to the single debate between mild-mannered Vice President and sharp-tongued Kamala Harris, who is likely to finish out the Biden presidency as the President of the United States should Biden win the 2020 election.
On Wednesday, October 7th, the debate will be at 9:00 EDT and take place at Kingsbury Hall, a performing arts center located on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City, Utah. The moderator will be USA Today's Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page.
Once again, you can plainly see that the debate deck is stacked against conservatives in favor of the progressives. For those of you pointing to Fox News’ Chris Wallace, he is among the most progressive members of the Fox Team – next to Juan Williams and Judge Andrew Napolitano.
We are so screwed.
