How can one begin to explain the stunning ignorance and disloyalty of Willard Mitt Romney, who purports to be a Republican Senator from the Great State of Utah?
It can’t be is background because he is a religious Mormon from a conservative state.
It can’t be his education because after graduating from Brigham Young University, he went on to obtain both a Harvard MBA and a law degree from Harvard Law School.
It can’t be his real-world experience because he served as the CEO of Bain Capital, one of the nation’s most successful venture capital firms.
It could be his politics. Romney served a two-and-a-half-year stint as a Mormon Missionary in France where socialist politics are de rigueur. Romney served as the Governor of uber-liberal Massachusetts, where he promoted Romneycare, the forerunner of Obamacare, with Representative Barney Frank and Senator Ted Kennedy, both progressive socialist democrats. He even used a Ted Kennedy-backed trick to fraudulently fund his healthcare program. He is as progressive as any other RINO (Republican In Name Only) in Congress.
But it is most likely his character and Hillary Clinton-like sense of entitlement to the Presidency that urged him to run again. Romney believed that his physical stature, looks, and background best positioned him for the presidency. Losing the GOP presidential nomination to John McCain in 2008, and then suffering the great embarrassment as John McCain ignored the short-listed Romney and chose Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate produced a sense of bitterness. Of course, John McCain lost to Barack Obama, and Romney mused that he could have provided the difference between losing and winning. Of course, Romney was indecisive, always calling for “more data” as he flip-flopped on issues according to polling results.
2012, four years later, another campaign for the nomination as the Republican candidate for the Presidency, which he won with Paul Ryan as his running mate. Shocker: he lost to Barack Obama. Some described Romney as “shell-shocked” because he apparently believed the polling data showing Obama with a slight lead were wrong.
2016, four years later, and there was Mitt Romney again, this time watching a reality television star step into the limelight. He teased his potential candidacy while making disparaging remarks about Trump -- and no surprise, Trump insulted Romney in his unique fashion. While Romney told the media that he wrote in his wife’s name on his ballot, he did publicly congratulate President Trump and wasted no time pitching him to become the Secretary of State, a position that went to Rex Tillerson, the CEO of ExxonMobil.
2018, and in spite of everything that may have occurred between Romney and Trump, President Trump graciously endorsed Mitt Romney for election to the Senate.
Today, it appears that Willard Mitt Romney raised the ultimate middle finger to President Trump by denying him an acquittal in the Senate impeachment trial based on party solidarity. The one GOP member of the Senate to give aid and comfort to the progressive socialist democrats who seek to destroy our Constitution, our nation, and its institutions from within.
While it means nothing in terms of damage to President Trump, Romney will be forever known as a turncoat and face the voter’s wrath on any bid for reelection. Romney cannot be trusted – and in my view is a RAT!
We are so screwed.
