A DAY IN SCAMVILLE
It appears yesterday was scam day. Among this text and email missives I received…
Don’t bother replying, merely Googling “AcuPrime” reveals the scam.
Then there is this bogus email intercepted by my anti-virus program…
Another reason to keep your operating system, anti-malware, and applications up to date.
Other than being flagged for its threats, here are the red flags that make it suspicious…
Other than the fact that I do not do business with goldenmotor, ask yourself why any legitimate business with a domain name would have you reply to an individual at a free personal email account.
What can you do?
Nothing! Your communications provider and ISP (Internet Service Provider) view you as an annoyance to be ignored – or sent a form letter at best.
Bottom line…
It is up to you to remain vigilant and turn situational awareness into a habit.
We are so screwed when our service providers refuse to take action against the scammers and hide behind unilateral user agreements, which hold them blameless – even for their own negligence.
