CONGRESSIONAL MALPRACTICE: MICHAEL COHEN EDITION

Why bother holding congressional hearings?

The intended purpose of a Congressional hearing is to hear testimony which informs the members of Congress about subjects related to legislation. It is not a court of law, and there are no evidentiary standards. If you are sworn, and many witnesses like Al Gore (testifying about Global Warming) are not sworn, you can be charged with perjury or held in contempt of Congress. A meaningless gesture if you think about what happened to potential presidential candidate and former Attorney General Eric Holder or other like James Comey and James Clapper who have lied to Congress. Congress cannot directly charge you with a crime or indict you as they are limited to passing along a criminal referral to the Department of Justice. And, due to the imposed rules on time, there is barely enough time to ask substantive questions and receive substantive answers.

So what is so crucial about hearing former Trump attorney Michael Cohen testify?

RACISM AND POLITICAL THEATRE

Is it worth the time, money, and effort to hear a proven liar accuse Donald Trump, without proof or evidence of any kind, of being a racist or having used the N-word sometimes in the past 50 or so years? It is for the progressive socialist democrats whose political calculus is based on identity politics and the necessity to capture a majority of certain minority constituent communities to win an election.

With Trump’s economic policies yielding historical employment growth for Blacks, Hispanics, and others – the prime objective of the Democrats on the panel is to paint President Trump as a racist to curtail Trump’s inroads into the minority communities prior to the 2020 election, and secondarily to capture the news cycle when President Trump may be on the verge of a historical anti-nuclear agreement with our nemesis North Korea.

If this hearing was an honest attempt to determine if Trump or any of his associated “colluded” (which is not a crime) with Russia or is a covert agent of Moscow, one wonders why Hillary Clinton is not testifying about paying a series of cut-outs to gather and use Russian intelligence from known Russian agents to pursue a bogus dossier and interfere with a presidential election?

It should come as no surprise that this hearing was orchestrated by a long-time Clinton operative, Lanny Davis…

h2

House Oversight Committee ranking member Jim Jordan (R-OH) delivered a fiery speech Wednesday, charging that “Clinton operative” Lanny Davis orchestrated the House Oversight hearing with Michael Cohen to push the Donald Trump impeachment narrative.

I want everyone to think about this: Michael Cohen, the first announced witness for the 116th Congress, is a guy who’s going to prison in two months for lying to Congress. Mr. Chairman, your chairman will always be identified with this hearing and we all need to know what this is: This is the Michael Cohen hearing presented by Lanny Davis.

That’s right. Lanny Davis choreographed the whole thing, the Clintons’ best friend, loyalist, operative, Lanny Davis put this all together.

He said the hearing was his idea, he selected this hearing, he had to talk Michael Cohen into coming and most importantly he had to persuade the chairman to actually have it.

The Ohio representative said that this was likely the first time a “convicted perjurer” as well as a “fraudster, cheat, and convicted felon” was the “star witness” in a hearing.

“We’re supposed to pursue the truth, but you have stacked the deck against the truth, we’re only allowed to ask certain questions, even with that amendment you told us about,” Jordan added.

Jordan then said that Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) limited the questions that members can ask Cohen, in which they cannot ask about Robert Mueller’s special counsel or the alleged Russian collusion during the 2016 presidential election.

“You said we could not talk about special counsel, we can’t talk about the southern district of New York, can’t ask questions about Russia, nope,” Rep. Jordan said. “The only subject we can talk about are ones you think are going to be harmful to the President of the United States.” <Source>

The real perpetrators, racists, cons, and thieves that are destroying our nation…

Can you spot the worst offenders and the feckless Republicans?

oversightLook for hysterical reporting of “ho-hum” testimony…

vf-spin-1

How is it possible that the media ignored real world events like India and Pakistan, both nuclear powers, might be on the brink of war over a skirmish over Kashmir which left one downed Indian fighter jet and a captured Indian pilot or President Donald Trump negotiating disarmament with a hostile and nuclearized North Korea  to spend an overwhelming amount of time on a dog-and-pony show orchestrated by Clintonistas and the progressive socialist democrats in the House of Representatives?

And, then people wonder why the media appears to be trapped in a death spiral when the need to fill 24/7 time slots allows almost anyone with a title and an opinion to opine on things they know little or nothing about. Hence they need the bloody and bizarre to capture an audience and a never-ending series of "Breaking News" bulletins for manufactured stories that are anything but news.

Another example of a dishonest Democrat-biased progressive media.

Bottom line…

The one thing that I find amusing is that a hearing reveals the real character and ignorance of some of the participants. Asking long, convoluted questions that were staff-written and they barely understand well enough to ask a pertinent follow-up question before moving on to the next question. Sometimes the result is tragically comical.

And while this dog-and-pony show was capturing the media’s attention, the House of Representatives further eroded the Second Amendment by passing House Resolution H.R. 8 that demands a federal background check for all gun sales, gifts, and transfers, including those at gun shows, online purchases, or simply passing them to a relative. Effectively you are either “registered” or you are a felon – with no leniency or tolerance for errors. A slippery slope which is sure to lead to a national database that will allow gun confiscation for certain pre-crime activities, spousal abuse, etc. Of course, criminals, crazies, and terrorists, both foreign and domestic, do not purchase guns – they steal them or purchase them on the black market. These are people that do not respect nor obey the law. So once again, Congress is attempting to punish law-abiding Americans while releasing adjudicated criminals back into our communities. Crazy-making with the purpose of magnifying the threat to ordinary citizens so they will raise a hue and cry for a larger and more powerful government presence to protect them. The one high spot was that the Republicans got their amendment to notify ICE when illegal aliens attempt to purchase guns included in the final House version of the bill.

Consider carefully the words of Benjamin Franklin, “ Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

We are so screwed when Congressional clowns spew forth their racism and political nonsense.

MICHAEL COHEN: LYING, RAT, CRIMINAL, SCUMBAG DOING THE BIDDING OF HIS PROGRESSIVE SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT MASTERS

MC

With a Hillary Clinton confidant, Lanny Davis, by his side, Michael Cohen attempts to please his progressive socialist masters by attacking President Trump…

I am not surprised or shocked to see that the New York Times leaked Michael’s Cohen’s opening statement …

TESTIMONY OF MICHAEL D. COHEN
COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT AND REFORM
U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
FEBRUARY 27, 2019

Chairman Cummings, Ranking Member Jordan, and Members of the Committee, thank you for inviting me here today.

I have asked this Committee to ensure that my family be protected from Presidential threats, and that the Committee be sensitive to the questions pertaining to ongoing investigations. Thank you for your help and for your understanding.

I am here under oath to correct the record, to answer the Committee’s questions truthfully, and to offer the American people what I know about President Trump.

I recognize that some of you may doubt and attack me on my credibility. It is for this reason that I have incorporated into this opening statement documents that are irrefutable, and demonstrate that the information you will hear is accurate and truthful.

Never in a million years did I imagine, when I accepted a job in 2007 to work for Donald Trump, that he would one day run for President, launch a campaign on a platform of hate and intolerance, and actually win. I regret the day I said “yes” to Mr. Trump. I regret all the help and support I gave him along the way.

I am ashamed of my own failings, and I publicly accepted responsibility for them by pleading guilty in the Southern District of New York.

I am ashamed of my weakness and misplaced loyalty – of the things I did for Mr. Trump in an effort to protect and promote him.

I am ashamed that I chose to take part in concealing Mr. Trump’s illicit acts rather than listening to my own conscience.

I am ashamed because I know what Mr. Trump is.
He is a racist. He is a conman. He is a cheat.

He was a presidential candidate who knew that Roger Stone was talking with Julian Assange about a WikiLeaks drop of Democratic National Committee emails.

[OCS: There is nothing illegal about obtaining opposition research from any foreign or domestic source. Just ask Hillary Clinton or the DNC who employed Fusion GPS and former British Spy Christopher Steele to speak with Russian sources.]

I will explain each in a few moments.

I am providing the Committee today with several documents.  These include:

•     A copy of a check Mr. Trump wrote from his personal bank account – after he became president -to reimburse me for the hush money payments I made to cover up his affair with an adult film star and prevent damage to his campaign;

[OCS: There is nothing illegal about the affair or the non-disclosure agreement that was executed on Trump’s behalf. These types of documents are executed every day by thousands of people, including members of Congress.]

•     Copies of financial statements for 2011 – 2013 that he gave to such institutions as Deutsche Bank;

[OCS: How can Michael Cohen provide documents that would normally be held under client-attorney privilege as a work product?]

•     A copy of an article with Mr. Trump’s handwriting on it that reported on the auction of a portrait of himself – he arranged for the bidder ahead of time and then reimbursed the bidder from the account of his non-profit charitable foundation, with the picture now hanging in one of his country clubs; and

[OCS: The use of bidder proxies is not illegal. And, whether or not the foundation gave him the picture is not a matter for Congress, it is a matter for the IRS and is not a criminal act.]

•     Copies of letters I wrote at Mr. Trump’s direction that threatened his high school, colleges, and the College Board not to release his grades or SAT scores.

[OCS: I can’t stop laughing when I think about how many documents former President Barack Obama withheld from the public – including the infamous birth certificate which competent document examiners still question. This is not a criminal act.]

I hope my appearance here today, my guilty plea, and my work with law enforcement agencies are steps along a path of redemption that will restore faith in me and help this country understand our president better.

***
Before going further, I want to apologize to each of you and to Congress as a whole.

The last time I appeared before Congress, I came to protect Mr. Trump.  Today, I’m here to tell the truth about Mr. Trump.

I lied to Congress about when Mr. Trump stopped negotiating the Moscow Tower project in Russia. I stated that we stopped negotiating in January 2016. That was false – our negotiations continued for months later during the campaign.

Mr. Trump did not directly tell me to lie to Congress. That’s not how he operates.

In conversations we had during the campaign, at the same time I was actively negotiating in Russia for him, he would look me in the eye and tell me there’s no business in Russia and .

[OCS: I am willing to bet that Trump did not see himself winning the election and may have simply wanted to continue his business affairs. Such pre-presidency actions should have little or no bearing on the Presidency prior to his inauguration. Then it became a matter of disclosure required by law.]

You need to know that Mr. Trump’s personal lawyers reviewed and edited my statement to Congress about the timing of the Moscow Tower negotiations before I gave it.
To be clear: M

then go out and lie to the American people by saying the same thing. In his way, he was telling me to lie.

[OCS: No deal was pending. There was no money on the table. It was all talk. Trump may have shaded the truth, but he is not required to reveal his company’s proprietary information in any public forum.]

There were at least a half-dozen times between the Iowa Caucus in January 2016 and the end of June when he would ask me “How’s it going in Russia?” – referring to the Moscow Tower project

Mr. Trump knew of and directed the Trump Moscow negotiations throughout the campaign and lied about it. He lied about it because he never expected to win the election. He also lied about it because he stood to make hundreds of millions of dollars on the Moscow real estate project.

And so I lied about it, too – because Mr. Trump had made clear to me, through his personal statements to me that we both knew were false and through his lies to the country, that he wanted me to lie.  And he made it clear to me because his personal attorneys reviewed my statement before I gave it to Congress.

****
Over the past two years, I have been smeared as “a rat” by the President of the United States. The truth is much different, and let me take a brief moment to introduce myself.

[OCS: What else would you call a “snitch” who ratted out his client and compromised the sacred attorney-client privilege to cut a deal on prison time for criminal acts committed prior to the Trump campaign?]

My name is Michael Dean Cohen.

I am a blessed husband of 24 years and a father to an incredible daughter and son. When I married my wife, I promised her that I would love her, cherish her, and protect her. As my father said countless times throughout my childhood, “you my wife, and you my children, are the air that I breathe.” To my Laura, my Sami, and my Jake, there is nothing I wouldn’t do to protect you.

[OCS: What about those rumors of extramarital affairs and girlfriends swirling about the Twitterverse?]

I have always tried to live a life of loyalty, friendship, generosity, and compassion – qualities my parents ingrained in my siblings and me since childhood. My father survived the Holocaust thanks to the compassion and selfless acts of others. He was helped by many who put themselves in harm’s way to do what they knew was right.

[OCS: It is a cheap shot to play the Holocaust card, especially when you are a reprehensible crook, tax cheat, and your crimes pre-date the Trump presidency.]

That is why my first instinct has always been to help those in need. Mom and Dad…I am sorry that I let you down.

[OCS: Boo Hoo! See if they and your family visits you in prison where you belong. Trying to cut a deal by ratting out Trump makes you little more than a “snitch.”]

Read the full statement in context here courtesy of the New York Times.

Bottom line…

Nothing more can be said of this lying rat scumbag.

AN ANSWER TO BILLY BOB STUPID AND HIS CADRE OF PROGRESSIVES

CH

To the economic genius who messaged me about my post COMRADE KAMALA SPEAKS ABOUT THE COST OF THE GREEN NEW DEAL  and suggested that I knew little or nothing about government fiscal finance …

Your position that deficits and the increase in our national debt is perfectly acceptable as long as the nation’s rate of growth surpasses interest rates and that the national debt will shrink of its own accord is intellectually and financially unsound.

(1)  Your assumption that the national debt will shrink of its own accord is falsified by two assumptions, both incorrect.

      (a) With any reduction in interest rates, the cost of servicing the present debt may be cheaper, but this slows the rate of cumulative debt growth and does not necessarily reduce the debt in a significant manner given the levels of debt serviced.

      (b) This scenario assumes that the government spendthrifts will cease or reduce their spending, not drastically increase it for social programs such as those suggested in the Green New Deal made popular by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, but is little more than a revision of the Canadian Socialists Dream of Marxism known as the Leap Manifesto.

(2)  The accrued benefits from this increased social spending are ephemeral and are a function of population growth whereas investments in our crumbling and decaying infrastructure which is in desperate need of repair, replacement, or build-out is longer-lasting and will serve people well into the future. Due to the costs of the first, one might realistically assume that the politicians who are wont to purchase support from the special interests and buy votes with entitlement programs will be loathe to re-direct spending from social programs into infrastructure programs. And if you look at the infrastructure programs in California, the bellwether state for socialism, you will find a multi-billion dollar train to nowhere that will never pay off its costs and is little more than a union work project with massive benefits to politically-connected special interests.

(3)  Even worse, your suggestion would increase the nation’s sensitivity to economic collapse should something cause interest rates (a measure of financial risk/reward) to increase drastically, possibly as soon as the implementation of a China-Russia-Europe replacement for national debts denominated in dollars -- which would reduce the needs of foreign trading counterparties to hold and use dollars for their energy, industrial, and commercial needs. Without this type of dollar support, we cannot just keep printing money like the Weimar Republic. Consider the political havoc a nearly equally divided populace has wrought, where marginal candidates need only win a plurality, not a majority, and assume office.

(4)  You do not anticipate the reactions of the financial markets to the uncertainty inherent in a scheme where fiscal restraint and responsibility is lacking. In uncertain times, the market is less likely to encourage growth and consumers are nervous about spending both on branded necessities and discretionary impulse items.

(5)  Your formulation says nothing about the fraud, waste, and abuse inherent in any government-run financial or social scheme. It appears that the politicians and special interests will continue stealing until someone holds them accountable. And, as we have seen from the Obama-Clinton scandals, it won’t be our government’s regulatory or law enforcement agencies.

How dangerous are the progressive socialist democrats?

Is Your Ship Safe? Help Us Find Out Whether Navy Reforms Are Actually Making a Difference.

The Navy promised to implement reforms in the wake of two deadly 2017 crashes. We’re trying to find out how it’s doing — and we need to hear from sailors in all six of the numbered fleets that patrol the world’s oceans.

The Navy has promised reforms, but detailed information about the progress of those fixes is hard to come by. This is where you come in: We need as many active duty or recently retired Navy service members as possible to fill out the following questionnaire. Help us figure out whether substantive changes have actually been made. Are those changes addressing the problems uncovered by the crashes? How much of a difference are they making? <Source>

Eric Holder calls for an end to the electoral college: 'It's undemocratic'

Former Attorney General Eric Holder, who is considering a 2020 presidential bid, called Tuesday to abolish the electoral college, saying it’s a “vestige of the past.”

It’s undemocratic, forces candidates to ignore majority of the voters and campaign in a small number of states. The presidency is our one national office and should be decided - directly - by the voters,” Mr. Holder said on Twitter.

The potential Democratic presidential candidate issued the tweet while linking to an article from The Washington Post that notes nearly a dozen traditionally blue states have passed legislation to circumvent the electoral college.

The push comes after President Trump won in 2016 by 77 electoral college votes, but lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by more than 2.8 million. <Source>

THREE LETTER RESPONSE TO THE CIA: WTF?

I find it almost inconceivable that the CIA would take to Twitter to live tweet culture-related comments during the televised OSCARS awards show…

It is my belief that the CIA should not interact with the popular culture via the social media and especially attempt to influence public opinion on technology. To the extent that they claim such activities are needed to advertise their mission, improve their favorability among the general public, or recruit qualified employees, I would prefer the CIA to operate as a clandestine operation, meaning their activities are kept secret and performed secretively.

cia-tweets

Apparently this initiative falls under a program called Reel vs Real which was designed to inform the public about things that are fictional Hollywood creations and the “real world.” It is described on the CIA’s webpage.

rvr

Is this classic misdirection to keep the public from considering the broader implications of a silent coup d'état by the Obama Administration and the leadership of some of the U.S. Intelligence Agencies to oust a sitting United States President from Office?

Granted, my opinion of the leadership of the CIA, and the other intelligence agencies, has been severely eroded by the actions of the Obama Administration. Somehow I have a hard time accepting the allegedly non-political, nonpartisan leadership of retired Air Force Lt. General James Clapper who was the Director of National Intelligence, John Brennan who was the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and of course, Robert Mueller (2001 – 2013) and James Comey (2013 – 2017) who were Directors of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

And, I would much rather see the CIA working hard to detect and deter foreign espionage activities in conjunction with the NSA and FBI than commenting on popular culture or managing their public perception by providing covert assistance to the progressive socialist democrat denizens who inhabit Hollywood and who make a hypocrisy-laden fortune exploiting the gun-related violence they decry in real life.

Bottom line …

Now is the time to clean house and quietly reassure the public that the Agency is returning to its non-political, nonpartisan, and invisible role as a protector of the U.S. Constitution and keeping America safe and secure from national security threats originating with foreign sources. No longer does the Agency’s hard-won reputation mean that they will find a pony under a pile of horseshit.

We are so screwed.

COMRADE KAMALA SPEAKS ABOUT THE COST OF THE GREEN NEW DEAL

I wonder if this would be qualified as hate speech because I definitely hate progressive socialist democrats who are trying to buy perpetual political power at the expense of Americans and our Freedoms…

kh-work

In an interview with CNN's John King, presidential aspirant Kamala Harris refused to discuss the projected cost of "The New Green Deal" and retreated into bafflegab and bullshit.

“It’s not about a cost.”

“One of the things that I admire and respect is the measurement that is captured in three letters: ROI. What’s the return on investment? People in the private sector understand this really well. It’s not about a cost. It’s about an investment. And then the question should be, is it worth the cost in terms of the investment potential? Are we going to get back more than we put in?”

No, Kamala, it's not an investment because you and your ilk have no capital to invest.

No, Kamala, it's about confiscating money from individuals and redistributing it to others.

No, Kamala, it's not about the ROI because you would have to divide the benefit, which cannot be quantified, by the cost, which also cannot be quantified.

No, Kamala, it's not about the environment, it is about Marxism and those who want to de-growth, divide, and destroy the American economy.

Is it really "The New Green Deal" or the "The Green New Deal?" Because it certainly is not green, nor is it a deal for the American people.

And that's the problem ... You cannot tell us the benefits, you cannot tell us the costs, but you want us to trust you and your ilk based on what? Your legislative track record -- which is murky, muddled, and conflicting? Your ability to manage large projects like the Pentagon, the Veterans' Hospitals, the bloated government with its inbred waste, fraud, and abuse? Or perhaps it is your ability to pick winners and losers like solar panel manufacturer Solyndra, battery maker A123, or any of the other failed and bankrupt clean energy programs?

I know the progressive socialist democrats embedded in education have dumbed down the curriculum to the point that students can perform simple math problems without a calculator or even tell time with an analog watch -- but there comes a point when someone should stand up and yell "bullshit, your numbers don't make sense." The reality is that all of your numbers are created in an environment where up is down, black is white, evil is good, and the big government knows best, freedom be damned.

Bottom line…

Green is the new RED! Marxism disguised as environmentalism.

I am reminded of two quotes. The first from a sleazy California Democrat Jesse Unruh who famously noted that “Money is the mother’s milk of politics.” And the second from the late Republican Senator Everett Dirksen who reminded Congress that “A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon it adds up to real money.”

We are living in an age of the professional politician where self-serving agendas and party politics takes precedence over our Constitution, our America, and the lives of ALL Americans.

We are well and truly screwed.

THE "JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS OF LYNCHING ACT" IS RACIST AND SHOULD BE RE-TITLED "JUSSIE'S ACT"

Let us not forget it was the Democrat Party that was for slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, anti-civil rights, and the KKK whereas the GOP, the party of Lincoln, not only reversed the practice of slavery but brought forth – against Democrat opposition – the modern civil rights legislation. Now the progressive socialist democrats want to advance the false impression that they are watching out for blacks in America. Nothing could be further from the truth if one looks at the inner cities, mostly governed by progressive socialist democrats and in many cases fronted by minority officials.

Pretty much why I am offended by Kamala Harris’ email…

Making History

Friend,

As Black History Month comes to a close, I'd like to point out the history that was made just last week when the Senate unanimously passed the Justice for Victims of Lynching Act.
Lynching is a murder. It’s torture
. But after a century of trying, it’s still not a federal crime. We must speak the truth about our past. These were horrendous acts of violence motivated by racism. And victims and families never received justice.

I'm so proud we were able to get this done. With this bill we finally have a chance to offer some long overdue healing, justice and recognition to the victims of lynching and their families.

We’re now one step closer to getting this bill finally signed into law. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "The time is always right to do what is right."

Sincerely,

Kamala

kh-sig

I do not care how you are killed, all murders, and those which involve some measure of torture should be treated the same no matter what instrument was used to bring about your death.

As far as I am concerned, murder, with the exception of murder on federal property or in the military, should be a state matter and not federalized because of race. That is the constitutional manner where everyone is treated equally under the law. By federalizing this criminal act, one might wonder where all of this nonsense stops. It is as wrong as being tried for a crime, being found not guilty, and then being prosecuted for a civil rights violation to allow grandstanding politicians to point their fingers and say, “See, we are doing something.”

By classifying lynching and attempted lynching as a federal hate crime, the legislation enables judges to impose additional sentencing enhancements on top of any other charges when determining the punishment for those convicted of such crimes. How soon will it be before someone, probably a Moslim Congress member introduces a bill claiming that defaming Allah is a federal hate crime?

You will notice it is the Democrat Party that appears to be pro-criminal, allowing criminals to plea-bargain away the more serious charges in return for an assured “politically valuable” conviction. It is the Democrat Party that advocates the early release of criminals into our community. And it is the Democrats who fight against legislation enhancing sentences for drug- and gang-related shootings in the inner cities, especially for illegal alien perpetrators.

And, you will notice that it is predominantly the Democrat Party that is against the death penalty, even in the clearest of cases where evidence assures the jury that the defendant committed the crime.

Bottom line…

If I am killed, I do not want my killer to get a lesser sentence or preferential treatment because of what they used to kill me or what they may have shouted when I was killed. Justice demands equality. The Constitution demands equality.

We are so screwed.

TODAY'S AMERICAN BOY: CONFUSED AND EXPLOITED BY THE MEDIA?

I started reading an online version of “The Life of an American Boy at 17” which was published by Esquire and written by Jennifer Percy, a contributing writer at the uber-progressive New York Times Magazine. What caught my eye was the URL that indicated that Esquire filed this piece under “news-politics” which is a rather odd designator for a story on an American boy. Until you look at the excerpts and the way the author appears to have use the subject to express her views on what can only be described as progressive socialist democrat politics.

[Excerpts from] The Life of an American Boy at 17

Ryan Morgan is a high school senior from West Bend, Wisconsin. Like all seventeen-year-olds, he thinks a lot about what he wants to do with his life, because everyone keeps telling him he’s supposed to have it figured out. He’d rather just talk about his girlfriend or cool sneakers or the Packers. But life is never that simple.

Part One in a Series on Growing Up in America Today, from the March issue of Esquire

Ryan Morgan is seventeen and happy to be a guy. To be a girl would mean he’d have to deal with a lot more drama. He’d likely have to deal with mean girls. And he could end up a mom, which he doesn’t ever want, because being a mom is hard. Probably the hardest job in the world. Also, he might not think football was as interesting. He isn’t sure what would be interesting, but if it isn’t football, then he isn’t interested. Other than that, he doesn’t think there are too many reasons it would be better to be a guy than a girl—unless you’re from the Middle East or maybe the inner city.

[OCS: What 17-year-old guy thinks like this, much less expresses it in these terms?]

But there’s this thing that still bothers him. It has to do with an incident last year in the computer lab. It was a Friday, near the end of the period, and Ryan waited by the exit. He began absentmindedly opening and shutting the door. This girl he didn’t really know told him to stop. When he did it again, she smacked him in the face. He smacked her back. She clawed at him, and he fell into a row of computers. The bell rang, and the girl ran off. “The teacher asked me to report it right away,” he tells me, “but I had a bus to catch.”

He took photos of his face and went to the principal’s office first thing on Monday, like his mom told him to. “He was so upset,” the assistant principal tells me. “He didn’t know why he was in trouble.” Ryan spent a couple hours in the in-school suspension room. He got a ticket referring him to the municipal court, where he appeared in August. He pleaded not guilty. At a second meeting, Ryan spoke to a prosecutor. At least, “I think it was a prosecutor,” he says. “I think he felt like it was stupid that I got a ticket for this. The look on his face was kind of like, What the heck is this?” Ryan thinks that if he were a girl, he wouldn’t have been punished. “As long as I don’t get in trouble again for a year, I’m okay,” he tells me. “But I had to deal with it for a few months.” The kids in school, “they called me a woman beater. I don’t think anyone actually thought I was. They were just giving me crap. It was just a stressful time.”

[OCS: How convenient, this particular teenager runs into a “gender” abuse situation and is immediately referred to the authorities. One might ask, was the girl also charged with assault and punished accordingly?]

West Bend is a blue-collar town with a strong German heritage in a county where Donald Trump won 67 percent of the vote. “If you’re a moderate Republican in West Bend, you’re a liberal,” Joe Carlson, a former school-board president, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2011. It’s also overwhelmingly white. Trump held a campaign rally at its conference center in 2016, where he declared, “I’m asking for the vote of every African-American citizen struggling in our country today,” even though only 2 percent of West Bend’s population is African-American. (Whites account for 95 percent.) Milwaukee is thirty miles south, close enough that West Bend is considered an outer suburb but still far enough that not many people consider commuting an option. The counties around Milwaukee are some of the few suburban places in America to remain firmly red

[OCS: Aha! Now I know it is a political hit piece and the author has turned a story of an American teenager into a platform for her political musings.]

After school, Ryan usually goes home. He doesn’t drink or do drugs. “Parties are stupid,” he says, “because it’s where guys get drunk and talk about threesomes. It’s lame.” He isn’t part of any social clique—not the football guys, the volleyball girls, the Pokémon players, the anime lovers, the choir kids, the guys who work on cars, and definitely not the “white guys who all hang out with their trucks and guns and say, ‘Heil Trump’ and all that.” Ryan tried playing sports, but he didn’t like any of them. He just doesn’t care about being popular. “I’m really happy with who I am,” he says.

[OCS: Now I am getting suspicious. Teenagers with trucks and guns saying “Heil Trump?” Perhaps by the end of the story the author will convince the boy he really is a girl trapped in a boy’s body and seriously needs to think about the transgender agenda?]

We talk about how he’s become more interested in politics in the past couple years. Then I ask about why he thinks the altercation with the girl happened last year. He’s still unsure: “The whole situation was crazy. She probably didn’t like that I opened the door.” He says he wasn’t trying to provoke her. “I didn’t process that she was mad at me, and I opened the door again. She hit me. I hit her back because I didn’t know how to react.”

[OCS: I find it interesting that she starts with his interest in politics and morphs to the incident where he hit a girl and then claims “I didn’t know how to react.” Funny, I thought all of the progressives were about gender equality – where the rules apply to all three sexes (male, female, and indeterminate on Tuesday) Perhaps he was just respecting her equal rights when he returned the physical aggression. What is strange is that the author describes this teenager as being 6’5” – and what girl is going to start a physical altercation with someone of that size and be able to do that much damage. The normal reaction would have been to grab her hands to stop the attack – not hit back.]

The fight with the girl was just one of a long string of recent events, most of them politically tinged, that have shaken Ryan’s sense of self. “Last year was really bad,” he says. “I couldn’t say anything without pissing someone off.” He says it started around the time of the presidential election—the liberal students became enraged and the conservative students emboldened. “Lots of drama over politics,” he says. “It ruined friendships and changed social groups. People were making friends based on their politics more than anything.” Kids started advertising their beliefs by hanging flags and posters on their lockers. They wore T-shirts that promoted Hillary for president, or Trump for president, or LGBT rights, or feminism, or Black Lives Matter. The most popular opinion at West Bend seemed to be anti-Trump. Ryan, raised in Republican households, was surprised by the vitriol. “Everyone hates me because I support Trump?” he says. “I couldn’t debate anyone without being shut down and called names. Like, what did I do wrong?”

[OCS: I almost stopped reading here because I was disgusted with the characterization of this poor schmuck who appears to have been played by the author with a progressive agenda in mind. How many 17-year-old boys think and sound like this? And, it gets worse…]

This past year, Ryan ran another gantlet: social media. He does not use Facebook or Twitter, which he thinks are mostly for older people. And he has no interest in Snapchat. But he, like most everyone his age, uses Instagram. “I’d post a comment,” he recalls, “and the replies would all be the same thing: ‘You’re stupid and that’s dumb’ or ‘You suck’ or ‘You’re straight, you can’t talk about something LGBT.’ ” One time, on a post he describes as “a feminist thing that said something about what men do,” he commented, “It’s not true, and that’s really stupid to say that.” The woman who’d posted it responded with something like, “What do you have to say? You’re a white man.” Ryan is still confused by her response. “Doesn’t she promote equal rights?” he says. “What if I posted the same kind of thing but about what women do? Like, if I posted a photo of a feminist march? But wait, feminist people hate when white men talk about stuff like that. That would be the end of me.” He pauses. “I guess they think since I’m not a girl, I don’t have an opinion.”

As Ryan grappled with progressive ideas on social media, he noticed that others did, too. Last summer, James Gunn, the director of Disney’s Guardians of the Galaxy, was sacked for a bunch of tweets he wrote several years ago. “He was fired because he said a shower in a hotel felt like a little kid peeing on him,” Ryan’s friend Andrew says. “Totally stupid and not worth the attention,” says Ryan. “Some jokes are pretty bad. But it depends on the context. If you’re honestly kidding, people shouldn’t get offended.

[OCS: Of course, if you are not a progressive and playing identity politics then shut up appears to be the real message being conveyed to today’s youth. Isolating them, exploiting their squishiness on progressive topics, and molding them into social justice warriors. Now, I did stop. This is crazy and not worth my time.]

Bottom line…

Perhaps we are seeing the manifestation of the pussification of America, where teenagers are indoctrinated in our public schools and the goal is to turn normally active, rambunctious guys into obedient little girls – by medication if necessary? Maybe we are witnessing a trend where the male role models are progressive and non-assertive.

I feel sorry for the kid as he appears to be confused and working things out. Maybe he should be spending more time with his girlfriend. He appears to be engaged in a work-study internship which should provide a bit of grounding. My recommendation, join the military and toughen up buttercup.

We are so screwed.

RACIAL POLITICS: EXCUSING THE BLACK COMMUNITY WHILE BLAMING SOCIETY

In almost every discussion of race in America there appears to be a number of faulty assumptions:

(1)  That racial prejudice can be defined statistically measured by incorrectly assuming that if a quantified percentage occurrence relating to a minority does not approximate that minority's percentage in the general population then it is prima facie evidence of racism and disparate impact.

(2)  That the broader behavior of a race is collectively systemic rather than the result of a summation of individual behaviors. Ignoring the fact that if the claimed systemic racism were truly systemic, the majority of law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, and juries that convict black men would also be racist. And, considering the number of blacks in positions of power where this alleged incarceration issue exists, that is highly unlikely. However, it might be explained when a significant number of those individuals in power belong to one major political party.

(3)  That the discussion of race in America is not tainted by the actions of one major political party whose political power is based on identity politics, the creation of victims (including the systemic absolution for individual blame), and the promise of redress from real or manufactured grievances in return for donations, voter support, and political power.

(4)  That Blacks deserve a pass from acceptable conventional societal and familial because of historic mistreatment of ancestral family members.

So why am I not surprised that a publication aimed at individuals with an association with government activities would ask “Where Have All the Black Man Gone?”

Something is demographically amiss in parts of eastern DeKalb County, just outside of Atlanta. In several predominantly African-American neighborhoods, there are only about three black men for every five black women under age 65. That sort of gender imbalance reflects a number of factors, primarily mass incarceration and high mortality, and it’s present in hundreds of communities across the country. Nationally, the Census Bureau counts 88 black male adults for every 100 black women, while the ratio for whites is a more equal 97 men for every 100 women.

[OCS: Here you see the implicit assumption that something must be amiss if the minority population percentage under measurement does not approximate the percentage of representation in the broader population. You also see that the author is providing a reason for gender imbalance: mass incarceration and high mortality as if someone simply rounded up minorities and placed them in prisons.]

Governing reviewed the latest population estimates for all black adults ages 18 to 64 in Census tracts where they totaled at least 2,000. In those neighborhoods, there were only a median of 81 black men for every 100 black women. The imbalance was greatest in 380 neighborhoods, where there were fewer than two adult black men for every three adult black women under age 65. In contrast to the numbers for adults, Census estimates show that nationally, there are marginally more African-American boys than girls under age 18.

[OCS: Again, you find a local imbalance being measured against a national population. And while it is interesting that younger black males slightly outnumber younger black females “under eighteen,” you find no mention of the proclivity and practice in this minority community of a single male having multiple children with multiple women without any stigma of historical disapproval or shame. Thus one might draw the conclusion that a smaller number of men are responsible for a larger number of children born into impoverished circumstances and lacking proper role models that would, perhaps, mitigate the greater prevalence of drugs and crime that lead to incarceration.]

Communities where large numbers of black men appear to have vanished aren’t confined to a few regions, but found in states throughout the country. And disparities aren’t present just in isolated enclaves, but in many cases span entire small cities. Among these are Calumet City, Ill., and Douglasville, Ga., two suburban jurisdictions with sizable black populations, where there are about two-thirds as many black men as women.

[OCS: I am unaware of any scientific law that specifies that the percentage of men and women should be at or near parity. Also one might add one single relevant dimension to this analysis. How many of these areas are governed by the single political party that is incentivized to accept poor societal behavior as a means of creating jobs and maintaining political power]

The single biggest driver behind the absence of many black men is mass incarceration. A few academics have held up ratios of black men to women as a proxy for incarceration. Despite recent declines in prison populations, disparities remain massive. African-American males are imprisoned in state and federal facilities at six times the rate of white men, and about 25 times that of black women, according to figures from the Bureau of Justice Statistics.

[OCS: Academics are fond of using any proxy that tends to prove their central thesis, even though the use of the proxy includes massive systemic errors which are almost never mentioned in the popularized accounts of their research.]

Black men, underrepresented in the overwhelming majority of neighborhoods, are instead heavily concentrated in relatively few places, and those tend to be home to prisons. We identified 79 such Census tracts with more than twice as many black men as women.

[OCS: It appears to me that the gravity feed model of site selection would suggest that one would build prisons where they are needed and in proximity to the largest number of inmates. Especially if those that govern the prison system want to encourage family connections and visits as part of the rehabilitative process.]

Black men are further subject to high mortality. Homicides drive up rates, along with higher risks of dying from diabetes, kidney disease and sepsis than other men. In all, the latest average life expectancy at birth for black men, 71.5 years as measured by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, trails the expectancy for white men by nearly five years and for black women by more than six years.

[OCS: One might naturally expect that men living in or near areas of criminal activity might be subjected to the consequences of increased crime. And that disproportionate drug or gang related impact would be directed significantly against those participating in those activities.

As for physiological issues relating to traditional high-salt, high-sugar, and high-fat diets, that too can be explained by factors having little or nothing to do with mass incarceration. One might want to examine prison diets and available medical care as legitimate issues to be studied – but those studies might conflict with the operational practices of those that govern the prisons (again examining whether those that govern are affiliated with a single political party.)]

But mortality and incarceration rates alone don’t explain why so many black men seem to be missing in communities. Alford Young, a sociology professor at the University of Michigan, notes that they frequently lack permanent addresses. Women, particularly those with children, are likely to obtain support services, and thus to get counted, while black men are not and may become homeless. Young also says a subset prefers to be mobile and undocumented, mostly stemming from fears of law enforcement. “It’s really a challenge with official counts to make sense of where black men are,” he says.

[OCS: Here is an alternative and complementary reason for the missing black men, you simply cannot count those who are mobile or do not wish to be counted, for whatever the reason. I might suggest that a great proportion are not afraid of traditional law enforcement per se, but those who are seeking to bring them before the courts on domestic issues such as domestic violence, the determination of parentage, or simply to collect child support in arrears and to enforce parental responsibilities.

And, lest us not forget that it was the consequences of “The Great Society’s” welfare programs that drove men out of the house as a condition before a woman could collect welfare benefits for herself or her children. It did not matter whether or not a man in the house was the father of one or more of the children. Again, a consequence of one particular political party.]

The ramifications of all this are far-reaching. Partners and families of the “missing men” face a host of negative social and economic consequences, such as a shortage of income and assets. Huge numbers of women have ties to incarcerated family members: One in every 2.5 black women has a family member in prison, more than three times the number for white women, according to a Scholars Strategy Network report. For children, research suggests growing up with an incarcerated parent increases the likelihood of learning disabilities, behavioral problems and other challenges.

[OCS: What the academics never seem to adequately explain is why women knowingly have children that they cannot support in the absence of a primary breadwinner and in the absence of social welfare benefits. A woman who is forced to care for her children, cannot always work. Hence, the solution of that one particular party is to institute nationalized babysitting in the form of “guaranteed child care for all.” Another Band-Aid on a festering wound that demands a thorough cleaning, antiseptic, and not just a bandage.]

But the consequences of all this extend beyond families. The absence of adult males means fewer constructive relationships for local children and fewer resources for communities in general. “It’s not simply large numbers of men not being present around their children or their partners,” Young says, “but what it means in a community context to be invisible.”

[OCS: Please spare me “It’s for the children” nonsense. If this were literally true, there would be societal restraints on having children you could not afford or to properly care for. Whenever I heard “it’s for the children,” I immediately think of unfunded pension liabilities, unionized workers, and the skimming of billions of dollars from those whose allocated funding is being stolen by politicians belonging to a certain political party and their special interest friends who fund their campaigns, provide voter support, and generate media attention.]

If you are really interested in the subject, you may wish to read my 2008 blog post “The African-American Disorder: Failed Leadership” which is a book review of a book written by Dr. Lenton Aikins, a civil rights attorney and a well-credential academic whose education includes a B.A. and MA in Political Science from California State University, Los Angeles, a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Southern California, and a J.D. Degree from Western States University College of Law. The post explores not only Dr. Aikin’s book but my own thoughts about race.

Bottom line…

The Democrat Party, the party of slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, anti-civil rights movement, and the KKK has done more harm to blacks than any other systemic cause. They practice identity politics and believe they own the black vote.  They  project all of the party’s historical and current shortcomings on the GOP – a party that lacks the cojones to call them out and fight back against their egregious assertions.

Even those who are calling for “reparations” cannot explain how any amount of money, affirmative action, or universal childcare can remedy the societal problem of out-of-wedlock children or the lack of parental responsibility by black males. For those who decry “mass incarceration of black males,” perhaps we should look at the black community which accepts criminal activity as the norm and refuse to aid the police, even on a confidential basis, when they have credible and specific knowledge of criminal activity. The fact that the gangs dominate the community while black leaders demonize and denigrate those who are trying to keep the community safe, is another symptom of a dysfunctional community – not a dysfunctional society.

BOOKER & HARRIS: PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES PLAY RACE CARD -- UNFIT FOR OFFICE (Updated)

UPDATE MARCH 26, 2019 -- IT APPEARS THAT ALL ALL CHARGES AGAINST EMPIRE ACTOR JUSSIE SMOLLETT HAVE BEEN DROPPED

He forfeited his $10,000 bond and walks free???? It appears that the police may have misinterpreted a key piece of evidence, the payment check to the two alleged co-conspirators who were said to have been paid by Smollett to attack him. Something smells.

Original post...

Two prominent progressive social democrats and declared candidates for the Democrat party nomination for the presidency, couldn’t wait before they jumped the shark and played the race card. Labeling the alleged attack on Empire actor Jussie Smollett as a “modern-day lynching.”

BOOKER-HARRIS

TWEETS

The facts (he was charged, not convicted) from the Chicago Police Department…

cpd[3]

EDDIE JOHNSON, CHICAGO POLICE SUPERINTENDENT: As I look out into the crowd, I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention because that’s who really deserves the amount of attention that we are giving to this particular incident.

This morning, I come to you not only as the superintendent of the Chicago Police Department but also as a black man who has spent his entire life living in the city of Chicago.

I know the racial divide that exists here, I know how hard it has been for our city and our nation to come together. I also know the disparities and I know the history.

This announcement today recognizes that 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career. I’m left hanging my head and asking why.

Why would anyone, especially an African-American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations?

How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile?

How can an individual who has been embraced by the city of Chicago turn around and slap everyone in this city in the face by making these false claims?

Bogus police reports cause real harm. They do harm to every legitimate victim who is in need of support by police and investigators as well as the citizens of this city.

Chicago hosts one of the largest Pride parades in the world, and we’re proud of that as a police department and also as a city. We do not nor do we ever tolerate hate in our city, whether that hate is based on an individual’s sexual orientation, race or anything else. So I’m offended by what has happened and I’m also angry.
I love the city of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department, warts and all, but this publicity stunt was a scar that Chicago didn't earn and certainly didn't deserve.

To make things worse, accusations within this phony attack received national attention for weeks. Celebrities, news commentators, and even presidential candidates weighed in on something that was choreographed by an actor.

First, Smollett attempted to gain attention by sending a false letter that relied on racial, homophobic, and political language.

When that didn't work, Smollett paid $3500 to stage this attack and drag Chicago's reputation through the mud in the process. And why? This stunt was orchestrated by Smollett because he was dissatisfied with his salary. So he concocted a story about being attacked.

Smollett surrendered to authorities and was arrested in Chicago. He faces one felony count of filing a false police report. He was back on the Fox set of Empire to finish the season’s final episodes.

You will note that the Chicago Police Superintendent, Eddie Johnson, a progressive socialist democrat, is doing more than reciting the allegations and apparent facts from the police viewpoint. He appears to be grandstanding -- especially when surrounded by the other doofuses at the podium -- and convicting Smollett in the court of public opinion although he adds the line "That said, Smollett was treated as a victim throughout this investigation until we received evidence that led detectives in another direction."  By all rights, any expanded statement should have come from the District Attorney's office, not the Police Department.

Bottom line…

Both Kamala Harris and Cory Booker have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are not qualified for the Presidency of the United States because of the narrow-minded vision of race and the tendency to see everything through the self-serving prism of racial identity.

As for Jussie Smollett, it is the progressive socialist democrats who do not believe in "innocent until proven guilty," but, as we saw in the Kavanaugh hearings, the progressives are quite eager to move directly from allegation to sentencing with nary a heartbeat in between. Except, of course, in the defense of illegal aliens.

Even though he appears guilty, let Smollett experience his constitutional rights of "due process" and his trial and conviction by a judge or jury of his peers.

I am wondering when his stint in rehab will begin and if he has already booked the ministers for his redemption tour?

We are so screwed.

THE REAL PURPOSE OF THE "NEW GREEN DEAL"

Does anyone in their right mind believe that humans can significantly alter the climate or provide a host of social benefits to the entire population in the United States within ten years? Does anyone believe that gross polluters like Russia, China, India, and third-world emerging nations will set aside fossil fuel to their disadvantage while the United States imposes draconian measures on its people?

So, if not even the authors of this socialist wish list believe that we will have unicorns and self-licking lollipops in ten years, why did they propose this non-binding resolution and why are they crying foul now that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to bring it up for a vote in the Senate – forcing Senators to record their position for posterity?

Why?

On its face, the legislation titled “Recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal,” is not only unrealistic, impossible to fund, but un-American in its impositions which deeply impact the freedoms of all Americans. But, no matter, its real purpose is not to immediately change the environment and culture of the United States, its purpose is to shift the Overton Window leftward.

OVERTON-WINDOW-2

Subjects, like the replacement of our capitalist system with socialism, which were once unthinkable in normal conversations, are now becoming topics of discussion in the mainstream media. Just a decade ago, almost no one in the general population, outside of radical activists, would have suggested that some version of socialism is an acceptable moral or economic equivalent of capitalism.

It’s not "that" socialism…

The younger generation has little familiarity with socialism other than what they have been taught, or should I say indoctrinated, in school by progressive instructors. They create semantic excuses for the name, pointing out that we are talking about “economic socialism” or "democratic" not Marxist socialism – the kind that leads to totalitarian governments, mass misery, death, decay, and the destruction of societies. Certainly not the type of Venezuelan socialism that saw one of the world’s most vibrant economies decimated in less than a decade in the name of “the people.” Certainly not the type of socialism that saw the Castro brothers execute or imprison dissidents while the country continued to decay into a previous century, These are the same people who tell you that the government is not going to seize the means of production and private property, never mentioning the de facto takeover with rules, regulations, and confiscatory taxation. You may own something, but effectively you will be renting your assets from the government and producing what is required by the latest centrally-planned economy.

But the truth is that socialism is socialism. With socialism, the endpoint is more socialism or communism to the point where the government must implement stricter and stricter rules and regulations at the point of a gun to prevent the eventual revolutionary overthrow that is certain to come in an uncertain future when everyone is equally miserable. With capitalism, at least the endpoint is more capitalism and more freedom.

What is it really?

Explain to me what you would call a system where the government controls the economy through a demonstrably phony need to save the planet from an emergency nobody can detect without phony computer models? Or controls individuals through the provision, denial, or delay of their healthcare? Or manages the population’s behavior and food intake for the health of the system? If that is not socialism, where the needs of the collective outweigh the needs of the individual, what might it be?

Max Planck, the eminent Nobel Prize Laureate and physicist maintained that “A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.” It is the same thing with socialism.

It has been decades since those who have directly experienced the ravages of communism have died off or aged out of the power structure. The newer generations having no direct experience with the past horrors and are inclined to believe the revisionist history taught by “trusted” teachers who themselves are inexperienced or ignorant of the very political systems they teach.

One might consider that the political puppet-masters are capitalizing on human nature and selling socialism to the youth of America as the cool way of rebelling against their parent’s generation in a way that provides them with peer acceptance and social opportunities. Ask most any young person to define capitalism, socialism, and communism – and the results will amaze you. They will deride capitalism and describe socialism in terms of its benevolent effects on society – that is, they will describe the promises of socialism and ignore the historic reality of death, destruction, and near-universal misery. They cannot explain how it is that the leadership of socialist and communist countries become billionaires and live like royalty while people starve outside their gates and high walls.

Bottom line…

One need only look at California to see that its citizens suffer confiscatory taxes and pay more for everything that is labeled "green"– and yet the only thing that appears to have changed is the number of illegal aliens who are said to become future democrats. People are leaving the state and eroding the tax base – leaving the remaining citizens to support the importation of more people in need of housing, employment, medical care, and education. It is not a sustainable system. So where will you go when the entire United States is run like California.

Claim that it will never happen. Think again – that’s exactly what most Californian’s believed a few decades ago. Want to see it for yourself? Just read any of the current high school history texts to see a version of history that is unbelievable. A history where the Founders of this nation are slave-owning misogynists steeped in patriarchal white privilege. You will hardly recognize your country.

We are so screwed.
