TREY GOWDY JOINS FOX NEWS AS ANOTHER TALKING HEAD
There used to be a time when I respected South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy as being smart, articulate, knowledgeable about the law. A serious man willing to ask serious and probing questions during committee meetings on serious matters. Over time I noticed that his efforts as the Chair of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, the Chair of the House Oversight the Government Reform Committee, and when he was a member of the House Intelligence and Judiciary committees, produced reports but little else. Those who slow-walked Committee demands for documents or stone-walled them all together got off without penalty. Those who openly defied the committee or lied under oath were rarely prosecuted.
Pretty much political Kabuki Theatre.
After leaving office, Gowdy, who declined to seek re-election in 2018, joined the law firm of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, where he will help defend White Collar criminals and those involved in government investigations.
And now we find that he has signed a contract to appear on Fox News as a contributor. Joining the ranks of know-nothing blowhards like Judge Andrew Napolitano whose lack of legal knowledge in so many areas, especially constitutional law, is astounding.
Remember the Benghazi hearings – smoke and mirrors – with nobody in the government or on the ground in Benghazi being held accountable for the deaths of four Americans while members of the American government, who knew in real-time what was occurring, declined to send help to save American lives? Possibly to protect an illegal Obama Administration joint gun-running operation to Moslem terrorists as directed by the CIA and Hillary Clinton’s Department of State. Deliberately lying about a bogus video being the root cause of the attack.
Or, how about Gowdy’s interaction with then FBI Director James Comey over his decision not to prosecute Hillary Clinton for various crimes connected with her private email server, destruction of documents, destruction of government property, lying to the government, and obstruction of justice. Nobody has been punished for what amounts to a massive conspiracy and cover-up of the largest political scandal – a seditious attempt to overthrow the lawful government of the United States – in American history.
Even Trey Gowdy admits his ineffectiveness…
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) says he doesn't have "a lot to show for the last seven years" of his time in Congress, adding that the legislative branch is hampered by "ineffectiveness." "To the extent men judge themselves based on what they do for a living, I don't have a lot to show for the last seven years," Gowdy told Vice News Tonight on HBO in an interview. Gowdy acknowledged the hyperpartisan nature of Congress, and that he's not likely to run for political office again after he retires next year. "We've convinced ourselves that we have to win, because the country will go to Hades in a handbasket if my team doesn't win," Gowdy said, later adding that the current state of the Republican Party is rooted simply in a desire to win. In his seven years in Congress, the South Carolina Republican garnered a reputation as a conservative hard-liner. But he has faced the ire of some conservatives recently for defending special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. <Source> |
Bottom line…
What can I say … knowing something is not the same as doing something.
We are so screwed.
