IS "SONIC SOAK" A RE-BRAND, A KNOCK-OFF, AN INDIEGOGO SCAM?

As the owner of an ultrasonic pen cleaner, I saw this allegedly new ultrasonic cleaning product and was intrigued …

IGG-header

Sounds great (pun intended) …

ss-picture

At a reasonable price …

ss-cost

But then I found this on Amazon …

sonic-2

WTF?

It looks like the same unit, the cost is $86.09, not $150.00, and it is “in stock” and available now (February 16, 2018) not in March? So I decided to look a little further.

Of course, it’ appears to be a re-brand of a product available from China – no innovation required …

aki-1

Bottom line …

Caveat Emptor – Let the Buyer Beware!

And there does not appear to be any incentive for some of these fundraising sites to investigate the offers as they get a “piece of the action.”

We are so screwed.

MSNBC: SHAMELESS FAKE NEWS AND COMMENTARY

No matter what the channel, most of the contributors and guests are pre-screened for their point of view and provocative nature. However, with MSNBC, they are totally completely ignorant of history, tone deaf, and without shame. Therefore, it is supremely ironic that they would invite former President Bill Clinton’s Chief of Staff, Mack McLarty to discuss the scandal of Rob Porter’s alleged spousal abuse in the Trump White House. Especially since Bill Clinton is known as a sexual predator and alleged rapist.

MSNBC

Hallie Jackson: “In your view, Mack, these allegations against him, this physical, verbal abuse of his ex-wives, the allegations that have come up, would that have been disqualifying on day one in any other administration?”

[OCS: Bill Clinton’s outrageous sexual behavior as the Governor of Arkansas was well-known before he ran for the presidency, yet few in the mainstream media even bothered to mention that he appeared to be a sexual predator.]

Mack McLarty: “It certainly would have immediately raised red flags, serious issues. When you get into spousal abuse, any inappropriate behavior with children, sexual harassment – Hallie, these are just red lines.”

[OCS: How McLarty could even say the words “sexual harassment” with a straight face is a testimony to his progressive roots and loyalty to a pervert and predator. And given Bill Clinton’s friendship with the pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his own flights on the “Lolita Express,” it becomes doubly ironic.]

Hallie Jackson: “Mack, I want to get to one final point here, because you’re right that this is a human story...When do you think, Mack, we will see a stronger message from President Trump?”

[OCS: Trump has already commented, condemned spousal abuse, mentioned that Porter has denied the allegations, and removed him from the White House. What more can President Trump do – especially in the face of real issues such as those surrounding Russia, China, North Korea, and elsewhere in the world.]

Mack McLarty: “I think the basic point is one that your story there suggested, it’s a moral issue, it’s a red line, as I noted earlier. It goes also, you just have to have basic ethical behavior in a White House.”

[OCS: There is absolutely no doubt that there was no ethical behavior in the Clinton White House and President Clinton personally befouled the Oval Office with his sexual behavior.]

This appears to be little more than a chance to distract the public from Hillary Clinton’s criminality and the grossly unconstitutional and criminal behavior on former President Obama’s watch. All of the major scandals appear to have deep roots in the Obama Administration – many pointing directly to members of Obama’s staff such as Valerie Jarrett, Ben Rhodes, Susan Rice, and other close associates. In fact, I would not be surprised to find that Hillary Clinton and Sidney Blumenthal had created the Steele Dossier out of Cody Shearer’s original work.

Bottom line …

You don’t comment on the bad behavior of one party, by asking someone complicit in covering up the bad behavior of another party to opine on the subject. At least without the proper introduction, disclosures, and disclaimers.

We are so screwed.

FLORIDA REPUBLICANS "TRIANGULATING" DEMOCRATS USING SHOOTING DISASTER FOR MEDIA ATTENTION ...

It appears that Republicans are adopting the tactics of progressive socialist democrats in an act of triangulation – the Dick Morris term for one political party co-opting and pre-empting the issues of the opposition. So why shouldn’t we expect Florida Republicans to display fiscal conservatism when they can run out to spend more than 25 million dollars to signal their compassion for the snowflake’s (I mean students) mental health?

Lawmakers agree to destroy site of school carnage: ‘This building has to come down’

Students will never be returning to Building 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School again.

Florida legislators said Thursday they will provide the resources to help the Broward School District tear down Building 12, the site of the massacre that killed 17 students and teachers. They want to build a new classroom space and replace the site of the murders with a memorial to honor the victims and their families.

“This building has to come down,” Sen. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, told the Miami Herald on Friday after visiting the school the day before. He said the horror was palpable.

“We need to take a serious look at tearing down that building and build a facility that these kids could return to and be proud of,” [Senator Wilton] Simpson [R-Trilby]  said Friday. Early estimates indicate the cost of a replacement building is between $25 million and $30 million, he said.

“It will still be very difficult for students to return,” Galvano said. “But that particular building should be razed, and the memory of the perpetrator erased and a memorial honoring the victims and their families be put in its place.” <Source>

There isn’t a school district or public school in the United States that doesn’t cry poverty, yet this school system is willing to destroy a perfectly good building and spend over $25 million in a show of progressive symbolism. If the children are going to be that traumatized, bus them to a nearby school or better yet send out the “mental health” counselors.

Whoops – don’t do that!! Has anyone noticed that mass school shootings seem to be a problem of the white, middle-class – mostly by children who either are on psychotropic medication or who stopped taking their meds? You do not find similar acts in poor or lower-class neighborhoods awash with semi- and full-automatic weapons, not to mention uncountable semi-automatic pistols favored by gang members. More impoverished parents have neither the money nor the inclination to send their precious darlings to high-priced psychologists. Even though the popular culture is filled with violent lyrics, sounds, and imagery.

Bottom line …

If you want a memorial, put a bronze plaque on the building. If you're going to spend 25 million dollars, why not survey children on psychotropic drugs and monitor their social media feeds? Against their constitutional rights, one (probably the ACLU) might argue. OK, then accept the consequences of an occasional problem in this vast country.

Personally, I believe that the problem lies with the progressive socialist democrats and the pussification of American schools. Fewer male teachers, zero tolerance for corporal punishment, and a legal system willing and eager to destroy a teacher’s career if they even touch a misbehaving student. Modern educational theory seems to favor calling the police, damaging a student’s permanent record, and in some cases, feeding boys psychotropic drugs until they become as docile and compliant as little girls.

Ask yourself what has changed over the past 30- or so years? If you are honest with yourself, the answer will be society’s tolerance for progressive bull-pucky.

SUPREME COURT TAKES ON MANDATORY UNION DUES FROM PUBLIC EMPLOYEES

UNION-BARGAIN

Erwin Chemerinsky, a famed radical leftist constitutional law professor and newly-hired Dean of the University of California, Berkeley, Law School argues that the Supreme Court should “practice judicial restraint” and not overturn “the choices of legislatures in California and elsewhere and no need to overrule four decades of precedents” when it comes to forcing public employees to pay union dues.

There are those who want the Court to uphold existing law “to preserve the collection of “fair share” dues from non-members who benefit from collective bargaining” and those who believe that being forced to pay dues to an organization that does not represent their political sensibilities is tantamount to a denial of their First Amendment free speech rights.

Chemerinsky frames the debate: “The challengers claim that it is unconstitutional compelled speech to force non-union members to pay for union activities, even though they benefit from them. They are urging the Supreme Court to find that forcing them to pay dues for the collective bargaining activities of the union violates their First Amendment rights.

And the proceeds to demolish the opposition argument: “There are many problems with this argument. We all are constantly forced to pay for things where we disagree; that does mean we are being forced to speak. All of us see our tax dollars go to pay for many things we dislike, but no one would think of that as compelled speech. Students are required to pay student activity fees that go for speakers and other things with which they might disagree. But the Supreme Court expressly rejected the argument that this violates the First Amendment.” Summarizing his argument with, “Having our money go to support something we dislike is not compelled speech. Non-union members can say, or not say, anything they want. They have the First Amendment right to not join the union.”

The wrong argument, the wrong issue …

The central issue is not about the public employees and their right to free speech, but the right of “We the People” to be free from mandating the funding an organization that represents a major conflict of interest which promotes political corruption and disadvantages “We the People.”

My thesis is that public employee unions have pushed the people out of the bargaining process. Allowing union-chosen and union-supported politicians to bargain against the union that supports their political activities with campaign funds, voter support, and media attention. A clear and present danger to fair and honest dealing.

There is no doubt in my mind that politicians in the State of California are beholden to the public employee unions and often set up straw man bargaining positions which they then knock down with the compromise that actually represents the union’s position.

How can public officials, in good faith, allow contracts that promote fraudulent manipulation and abuse? Where employees receive defined benefits – at an increased expense to the taxpayer – where defined contributions are the rule in the private sector? Where unfunded pension liabilities threaten to bankrupt our municipalities and eventually cause a revolution in the State of California when the creators and producers have left the state – leaving behind a disproportionate number of takers. And, in many cases, the municipality or state becomes the collection agency for the unions at a great expense to the public – including the denial of jobs to employees who disagree with the corrupt and radical positions of public employee unions. Not to mention tenure and the difficulty in firing incompetent, malfeasant, or criminal employees.

Bottom line …

Should the public allow public employees to support an organization that represents a clear conflict of interests in that it promotes corrupt public officials, wants to increase operating costs, raise taxes to cover unfunded pension liabilities for pensions riddled with manipulative fraud, and rejects operational efficiencies so as to increase membership?

We are so screwed.

QUESTION PRESENTED

Twice in the past five years this Court has questioned its holding in Abood v. Detroit Board of Education, 431 U.S. 209 (1977) that it is constitutional for a government to force its employees to pay agency fees to an exclusive representative for speaking and contracting with the government over policies that affect their profession.

This case presents the same question presented in Friedrichs: should Abood be overruled and public-sector agency fee arrangements declared unconstitutional under the First Amendment?

HOME AUTOMATION: ARE YOU EFFIN CRAZY?

Most of us have some cursory knowledge of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution …

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

There is no specific mention of privacy, and the expectation of privacy test was created by the Supreme Court in 1976 …

Katz v. United States

1. The Government's eavesdropping activities violated the privacy upon which petitioner justifiably relied while using the telephone booth, and thus constituted a "search and seizure" within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment. Pp. 350-353.

(a) The Fourth Amendment governs not only the seizure of tangible items, but extends as well to the recording of oral statements.

(b) Because the Fourth Amendment protects people, rather than places, its reach cannot turn on the presence or absence of a physical intrusion into any given enclosure.

U.S. Supreme Court -- Katz v. United States, 389 U.S. 347 (1967) No. 35; Argued October 17, 1967; Decided December 18, 1967

So, given the current state of technology, are you waiving your constitutional rights when you purchase and use internet-connected electronic devices and operating under some unilateral “terms of use” agreement?

Sengled-Light
  • SMART HOME INTEGRATION: connect the bulb Amazon Echo Plus, as well as Samsung SmartThings and Wink hubs. The bulb can also be added to any Sengled Element Starter Kit. (Classic or Plus, hub sold separately. A hub is required for bulb use.)
  • VOICE CONTROL INTEGRATION: connect the bulb to your favorite hub to use with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant (hub required for use)
  • CONTROL YOUR LIGHTS, AT HOME OR AWAY: use the iOS or Android app to set lighting schedules, dim or turn your lights on and off. Control your lights remotely and have the lights on before you get home at night.
  • MONITOR ENERGY USE: monitor electricity use (kWh) from anywhere from the iOS or Android app. See if you forgot to turn off the lights, then remotely turn off for added savings.
  • ENERGY EFFICIENT: LED bulbs use 80% less energy than incandescent lighting. Sengled bulbs last for over 20 years and are ENERGY STAR certified. Kits and bulbs come with a three-year warranty.

In some “mesh networks,” each device is capable of communicating with its neighbor, and it is possible for information to jump from a protected network element to one that is not protected.  Which is the crux of the matter, can your Smart television, computer, lights, toaster, etc. compromise your security and eliminate any reasonable expectation of privacy?

Bottom line …

While it sounds cool and convenient, ask yourself who is listening to your conversations, is the system encrypted, and can the system be used by various intelligence agencies, both foreign and domestic, without a warrant and your knowledge?

But, more importantly, have you given up your “reasonable right to privacy” and provided permission to disclose any and all information to unknown third-parties as a result of an administrative letter, subpoena, or court discovery order?

So before you make that internet-connected device, consider whether or not your constitutional rights and privacy are more important than your convenience.

TAXAFORNIA: ELECTIONS ARE COMING AGAIN ...

CA-TAX

There was once a time when General Motors was not only the leading industrial corporation in America, but it was an authentic automobile company producing cars. Sadly, it is no longer an auto company, but a pension fund that happens to use an auto company as a funding mechanism.

In the same vein, we are seeing California’s municipalities transition between being cities collecting taxes for providing its residents with essential services and infrastructure to merely an entity raising taxes for the purposes of meeting its pension obligations.

How is it that California cities are still using “defined benefit” programs rather than “defined contribution” programs like the 401(k) programs in the private sector?

  • How come pension costs are rising far beyond the inflation rate?
  • Why are pension tricks like converting overtime into salary for pension purposes still allowed?
  • Why do public employee unions seem to dominate California’s political system when they overwhelmingly support a single party and use their unified strength to ensure that the State, its municipalities, and its legal residents are continually disadvantaged by union make-work programs, scheduling issues, inflated costs, quality control problems, and late deliveries?
  • How can a corporation that makes a hundred million dollar mess out of an IT project, rebate ten percent of the monies spent and then qualify for additional contracts?

All good questions with few good answers.

In a time of rising taxes, reduced services, perhaps it is time for Californians to set aside their differences and agree on one thing: the progressive socialist democrats and their unions are killing the golden goose. Driving productive individuals and corporations out of California.

Bottom line …

While politicians are spinning tales of increased taxes necessary for maintaining quality police, fire, medical, and core services, repairing, replacing, or building out infrastructure, providing for the needs of the homeless, welcoming illegal aliens, and subsidizing nonsensical “arts” programs – the truth is that most of the tax increase will be consumed by pension fund increases, with little or no improvement in anything. The very same police and fire “heroes” we see feted in the progressive media are the very same ones bilking the pension and medical programs with impunity. You cannot tell me that a janitor – even if you refer to them as environmental engineers – needs $100,000/year as a “living wage.”

We are truly screwed. Both by the progressive socialist democrats and their “go along to get along” RINO (Republican In Name Only” cohorts. The progressive socialists are always talking about a revolution. How about a revolutionary idea: quit rewards those very people who have nearly destroyed our state with their nonsense and throw the bums out of office.

THE GOP TURNS PROGRESSIVE AND IS LYING TO AMERICA

How many people remember when the Republican Party stood for fiscal conservatism, smaller government, and lower taxes?

gop-logo-pig

What the leadership said …

“Americans know we face a fiscal crisis not because we tax too little, but because we spend too much.” ~ Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

“As Chairman of the House Budget Committee, I assure you that we want to work with the President to restrain federal spending.” ~ House Speaker Paul Ryan

“President Obama has almost doubled our national debt to more than $19 trillion and growing. And yet, what do we have to show for it? Our roads and bridges are falling apart, our airports are in Third World condition, and forty-three million Americans are on food stamps.” ~ President Donald J. Trump

“We are not looking to fill all of those positions. Don't need many of them — reduce the size of government.” ~ President Donald J. Trump

And yet, the Republicans have given the progressives everything they want – and then some …

The U.S. Deficit was $587 billion in Obama’s last year, and it grew to $666 billion in President Trump’s first year in office, mainly due to locked-in Congressional spending in the previous years.

Now we see that the Trump Administration is projected to generate a deficit of $1 TRILLION, not including Trump’s proposal to spend another $1 TRILLION on infrastructure projects; most of which are governed by political considerations and are subject to cost-overruns and time delays. Some are little more than overpriced union make-work projects that will never meet their re-payment or usefulness objectives.

The slimeball politicians on both sides are lying …

How many people understand that funding for Social Security, the US Postal Service, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, disaster relief, and some military expenses are treated as off-budget expenditures and never make their way into highly publicized discussions and media reports. Not to mention one of the biggest items, unfunded liabilities which morph into real costs in the future. These are items manipulated away from the public view by unelected bureaucrats. Budgets usually turn into floor amounts that are increased in future years.

Even worse is the "front-loading" of spending while explaining that the benefits will occur in years 7 through 10 -- full well knowing that the details of the legislation will have been forgotten in the sands of time or modified by subsequent legislation. With many of the marginal politicians out of office.

Bottom line …

Donald Trump, who has acted rather conservatively up to this point, is about to throw GOP tradition under the bus. Will the GOP even begin to articulate what it really stands for in the 2018 and 2020 elections? Or will it, hell-bent on “triangulating” Democrat positions, simply advance the progressive agenda at an unbelievable pace?

I can’t help but recall comedian George Carlin’s rules …

9. “Beware of intuition and gut instincts, they are completely unreliable. Instead develop preconceived notions and don’t waiver unless someone tells you to. Then change your mind and adopt their point of view. But only if they seem to know what they are talking about.”

10. “Never give up on an idea simply because it is bad and doesn’t work. Cling to it even when it is hopeless. Anyone can cut and run, but it takes a very special person to stay with something that is stupid and harmful.”

14. “Beware also of the dangerous trap of looking ahead; it will only get you in trouble. Instead try to drift along from day to day in a meandering fashion. don’t get sidetracked with some foolish ‘plan.”

15.  “Finally, enjoy yourself all of the time, and do whatever you want. Don’t be seduced by that mindless chatter going around about ‘responsibility.’ That’s exactly the sort of thing that can ruin your life.”

We are so screwed.

OLYMPICS 2018: IT'S ABOUT SPORT -- NOT GAY VIRTUE SIGNALING

It appears that Freeskier Gus Kenworthy and figure skater Adam Rippon, labeled as the first two openly gay males participating in the 2018 Winder Olympics in North Korea have decided to politicize the Olympics and criticize the sitting United States Vice President while on foreign soil.

g-usa

I was not aware that the LGBTQ community is an official sponsor of the U.S. Olympic efforts and for Kenworthy to claim he is so proud to be representing that community at the Olympics is wrong. He either represents the United States of America and ALL Americans or he should be sanctioned and given a trip home. As for the hashtag “TeamUSGay”, there is no such thing.

You may notice that these two said nothing about any of the Middle Eastern countries that severely repress homosexuality to the point of executing gays. But, then again, you don’t get progressive points for virtue signaling unless you denigrate President Trump or any member of his administration.

And, if you believe actions speak louder than words, one need only consider that numerous ice skaters have been flamboyantly gay and leaving no doubt as to their sexuality.

Bottom line …

If Olympic Athletes are allowed to make their causes public at the Olympics, where does it end? Would a Christian refuse to meet someone who supports abortion? Would there have been an uprising among the progressives is an Olympian refused to meet a Democrat President? Will all of the pet advocates make a point of the Korean dog meat industry or that dog meat is openly served at Korean venues?

The social and political divide is growing wider each year, with the progressive socialist democrats following the socialist/communist agenda of promoting class warfare in order to gain or maintain political power. At the Olympics, athletes should set aside their political agendas and concentrate on their sport and represent all Americans.

Speech is a powerful tool. But not when it promotes the tyranny of the minority. The truth is that it is unlikely that the minority will ever become the majority and to allow them the leverage to destroy the institutions of the majority is counterproductive. One can treat everybody fairly and equally under the law without becoming a progressive socialist democrat.

The progressives have destroyed too many of our American institutions with their political correctness, multiculturalism, and moral equivalency. In the final analysis, you join the U.S. Team knowing you are going to represent ALL Americans and not politicize sport – or you join some other team from a country that hates America.

We are so screwed.

THE SOFT TYRANNY OF THE MINORITY MAFIA

The way representatives of the United States are usually selected is through a series of local, regional, state, and national competitions supervised under the auspices of individual sports authorities. Other than the age, drug, and genetic testing to ensure fair competition, there are no restrictions on race, religion, color, or sexual preference. And that’s the way it should be. Sport should not be compromised by the minority mafia to advance their particular political agendas, and sports should be free from social engineering. End of story!

But then there is the well-known intolerance of the progressive socialist democrats and their minority mafia that has perverted our culture with their political correctness, multiculturalism, and most of all, moral equivalence. They and their activist/agitators shout down anyone with an opposing opinion. They physically threaten those who would dare speak in a public forum. And, now they are trying to silence those who speak for the purity of sport and competition.

There have always been gays in sport – one look at some of the male figure skaters left little or no doubt about their sexual preferences away from competition. And, that’s the point: “away from competition.” Occasionally you will find someone using the awards podium to advance their own political agenda – and they should be sanctioned. Let them speak out away from sports venues.

There is little or no doubt that Fox News, since a change in ownership to the more liberal sons (and their wives) of media magnate Rupert Murdoch, has moved left. And, it may be only a matter of time until they become another tool of the progressive socialist democrats and their march towards totalitarianism.

Fox News removes executive's controversial column that criticized USA Olympics team for becoming 'darker, gayer'

Fox News removed an opinion column written by one of its top executives, John Moody, on Friday after critics called it "racist and homophobic."  "John Moody's column does not reflect the views or values of FOX News and has been removed," the network said in a statement to Business Insider on Friday.

In the piece, Moody, an executive vice president and executive editor at Fox News called efforts by the US Olympics Committee to attract more diverse athletes an attempt to become "darker" and "gayer."

"Unless it's changed overnight, the motto of the Olympics, since 1894, has been 'Faster, Higher, Stronger.' It appears the U.S. Olympic Committee would like to change that to 'Darker, Gayer, Different,'" he wrote on Wednesday. "If your goal is to win medals, that won't work."

"No sport that we are aware of awards points ― or medals ― for skin color or sexual orientation," he wrote. "So, while uncomfortable, the question probably needs to be asked: were our Olympians selected because they're the best at what they do, or because they're the best publicity for our current obsession with having one each from Column A, B and C?"  <Source>

What I wrote last week …

PROGRESSIVE SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS ARE INFECTING U.S. ATHLETICS

There is a malignant belief held by many progressive socialist democrats that to be fair, inclusive, and diverse, organizations need to employ people by class. With the number of people in each class representing their class’s proportional representation in the general population. There are genetic and environmental factors that influence performance. And you select and support the best of the best, not look for athletes on the basis of their color or sexual identity. And for the militant feminists, there is a physical reason that most sports separate men and women. And it has nothing to do with disadvantaging women athletes over their male counterparts when it comes to performance in the arena.

The idea that you should field any team based on any criteria other than absolute excellence is an anathema to a sport.

Diversity is fine for the USOC as an organization, but when it bleeds over into a sport, we are in deep, deep trouble.

“Diversity and inclusion are core values at the USOC because they make us better as an organization, ensuring that we’re capable of solving our complex business needs and equipped to provide the kind of support America’s athletes need. The more we include diverse perspectives and experiences in our work and thinking, the more likely we’ll be able to thrive in an incredibly competitive world.” – USOC CEO Scott Blackmun <Source>

Every person at the USOC should be about winning – fielding the best team available, supporting the athletes with the best medical and conditioning programs available, and subsidizing those who forego regular employment to engage in strict and grueling training regimens. Replace virtue signaling bureaucrats like Jason Thompson, who earned a master's and bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Wyoming and is a graduate of Harvard's John F. Kennedy School executive training program, with actual athletes. Let the USOC mine the group of talented, educated elite athletes that bring excellence and actual knowledge to the table.

If the USOC wants more diversity, let them promote sport – not classes of people along characteristics that have little or nothing to do with size, speed, agility, and mental toughness and everything to do with politics and media publicity. If you want to make people feel better about themselves, do it somewhere else, and leave the purity of competition alone. Those who want to compete will find a way to compete. <Source>

Bottom line …

In this age of Orwell and politico-speak, up is down, right is wrong, evil is good, and words have been tortured and redefined for political purposes. When class warfare is pervasive and classes of people “own” words and “symbols,” anything else is condemned as “cultural appropriation.” Instead of assimilation and assuming the best of all cultures, the progressives balkanize and reduce us to the lowest common denominator: unexceptional political units to be managed like livestock.

We are so screwed.
