DONALD TRUMP IS LESS THAN HALF-THE-MAN THAT MICHAEL BLOOMBERG IS!
As a constitutional conservative, I am no fan of progressive socialist democrats like former Mayor Michael Bloomberg or “former” progressive socialist democrat Donald Trump. But Trump’s attempt to disparage and diminish Mike Bloomberg for calling out Trump as a “dangerous demagogue” and saying “I’m a New Yorker, and New Yorkers know a con when we see one.” at the Democrat National Convention pisses me off.
I case you haven't noticed, it appears the only way Donald Trump can make himself a bigger man is by diminishing and disparaging others. Using pejoratives to substitute for reasoned comment.
While Bloomberg’s physical stature (5’8”) may be smaller than Donald Trump’s physical stature (6’2” – excluding hair), there is little doubt that Mike Bloomberg stands head and shoulders above Trump when it comes to character, business accomplishments, ethics, and honesty …
While Trump’s name may be on a number of “iconic” properties, Bloomberg’s name is in virtually every important financial center in the world. Either as the ubiquitous “Bloomberg Terminal” or as a source of news from Bloomberg Media.
Whereas Trump’s impact only affects a very limited subset of wealthy clients and office dwellers, Bloomberg’s reach extends around the world. Whereas Trump “claims” to be worth $10 billion, Bloomberg is said to be the 6th richest man in the United States with a reputed net worth of approximately $46.7 billion. And, whereas Trump owns a fancy used helicopter (Sikorsky 1989 S-76B worth a claimed $8 million; owned by DJT Aerospace LLC in Dover, Delaware), Bloomberg has a new helicopter on order (AgustaWestland AW109SP which cost significantly more) and is an avid helicopter pilot himself.
Bottom line …
While both men are progressives with New York values, Bloomberg is open and honest about his ideology and intentions, whereas Trump is guarded, secretive, and – worst of all – mutable; changing what he says to fit the occasion or to support his position. Trump is also a liar – one who lies about lying, claiming he never said the remarks attributed to him, and when confronted with the video of him saying the exact words, he claims he was misunderstood. Even worse, Trump is almost pathologically adverse to apologizing and is always on the attack. Something he learned early on from the loathsome anti-Semitic, anti-gay lawyer, Roy Cohn, who served the loathsome demagogue Senator Joseph McCarthy who died of AIDS after threatening to destroy anyone who mentioned he was gay.
While Bloomberg appears to believe in a “nanny” state, he is open and honest in his intentions. Trump, on the other hand, appears to believe that whatever is good from Trump is also good for America.
We are so screwed.
