Armed Suspect Shot, Killed by MPD Officer

A Milwaukee Police officer shot and killed an armed suspect fleeing from a car on Milwaukee’s North Side.

The incident began when two uniformed MPD officers stopped two suspects in a car in the 3200 block of N. 44th Street at about 3:30 p.m. on August 13. Shortly after stopping the suspects, both occupants fled from the car on foot. The officers pursued the suspects, and during the foot pursuit one officer shot one suspect, armed with a semiautomatic handgun, in a yard also in the 3200 block of N. 44th Street. The suspect died from his injuries at the scene.

The suspect is a 23-year-old Milwaukee man with lengthy arrest record. The handgun he was armed with was taken in a burglary in Waukesha in March of this year. The victim of that burglary reported 500 rounds of ammunition were also stolen with the handgun.

The officer is a 24-year-old, male, assigned to MPD’s District 7. He has six years of service with MPD, three years as an officer. He was not injured and, as is standard practice, will be placed on administrative duty during the investigation and subsequent review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

The Milwaukee Police Department has contained the scene and, pursuant to State Law, the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigation has been contacted to lead the investigation. <Source: MPD>

City Alderman Khalif Rainey said the area has been a “powder keg” for potential violence throughout the summer.

[Has anyone noticed that there seems to be a hard-core cadre of socialists, communists, anarchists, and black separatists that continue to engage in “organizing” activities in these black areas? Often augmented by “outsiders” who are pushing their “revolutionary” cause?]

“What happened tonight may not have been right and I am not justifying that but no one can deny the fact that there are problems, racial problems in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, that need to be rectified,” Rainey said.

[How quick these progressive politicians are to seemingly condemn in the weakest possible terms the violence, looting, and destruction of public and private property before segueing into their socialist victimhood rhetoric. Yes, there are problems, including racial problems in any community that is governed by progressive socialist democrats because that is what they need to build their coalition of victims; always promising a redress of grievances in return for political power. And, after the election, the same old political corruption and continuing decay as public funds are siphoned-off to special interests and political power brokers. The people be damned.] 

“This community of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has become the worst place to live for African Americans in the entire country.”

[If this is true, perhaps Khalif and his fellow politicians should bear most of the responsibility for the political corruption, failure to eliminate non-productive unionization, and failure to prosecute minority criminals above and beyond their percentage representation in the general population.]

Rainey said Saturday’s violence was a byproduct of inequities, injustice, unemployment and under-education.

[There will always be inequities as long as there are strong people and weak people. Pretty much the complaint of the progressive socialist democrats who promise equality of outcome under socialism (shared misery of declining resources) rather than promote equality of opportunity (enlarging the pie under capitalism) that demands hard work.

Injustice is allowing armed thugs to roam the community while disarming law-abiding citizens. To give retroactive passes to drug dealers who poison the community and to minority thugs who terrorize neighborhoods. To denigrate and disadvantage law enforcement and make them the scapegoats for political failures. Real injustice is a community that gives a pass to the men who shirk their responsibilities; watching women with ten children from eight fathers become discouraged, depressed, and who never have a chance to earn an acceptable living outside of government support systems.

Unemployment is a direct result of making life difficult for small businesses with onerous administrative rules, regulations, and taxes; demanding large employers be unionized or denied zoning and building permits.

Under-education is the fault of the teachers’ unions, and their captive politicians, who allow unionized teachers to crank out another generation of functional illiterates who are given a pass by lowering test requirements rather than angering parents, embarrass the teachers and the politicians.]

“Something has to be done to address these issues,” he said. “The black people of Milwaukee are tired, they are tired of living under this oppression, this is their life.”

[Oppression? If these people are oppressed, it is by corrupt politicians and their special interests. Progressive socialist democrats who want to slice the pie thinner and thinner instead of demanding the hard work to create more pies. Politicians who believe in collectivism – stupid people needing an enlightened elite to govern them – rather than individualism. What is wrong is progressive socialist democrats like Khalif Rainey whose political power comes from anger, despair, and victimhood rather than progress and prosperity.]
