It appears that Donald Trump wants to feature celebrities and sports icons at the GOP convention – apparently willing to do anything to distract and misdirect the media from posing those pesky policy issues that go beyond talking points.

Donald Trump’s campaign aides are lining up a slate of iconic sports figures to appear at the national convention in Cleveland next month—including former undisputed world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, legendary Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka, former Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight and NASCAR chief Brian France, people familiar with the planning told Bloomberg Politics. In what media universe, does a rational politician cater to aging sports enthusiasts while turning off a large number of women by giving the stage to a convicted rapist and registered sex offender who is willing to say nice things about you?
What the hell has the GOP done by turning their backs on Ted Cruz, the only constitutional conservative in the race with a clean record and a chance to beat Hillary Clinton? Now we face a choice between Hillary and Hillary-Lite.
