We have heard it over and over again, there is nobody worse that Hillary Clinton, a corrupt shrew who lies with impunity, but is it possible that Donald Trump is actually worse or even more dangerous than Hillary Clinton?
From what he has said, Trump appears to lack core values and has a fleeting acquaintance with the truth. He lies with impunity and then, when confronted with his own words, he lies about lying. He promotes the outrageous by phrasing it as a question, often claiming someone told him something, he read something, or someone else asked a question. So he maintains plausible deniability for anything he says. He panders to America’s baser emotions and fails to promote constitutional values.
But my biggest objection to Donald Trump is even greater …
To my way of thinking Trump embodies the worst of all personal character traits in a candidate. He appears to be a ego-maniacal narcissist who surrounds himself with thuggish sycophants and appears to be a total authoritarian when it comes to all matters.
It is not that he is marginally a republican, nor is it that he appears to be a progressive socialist democrat … but that he is the type of charismatic authoritarian that moves us closer to a socialist/communist dictatorship than towards a constitutional republic.
Bottom line …
I am not suggesting that any GOP delegate actually vote for Donald Trump, but to consider the damage to our nation if either one of these wildly inappropriate candidates is actually elected.
Therefore, I suggest that you vote your conscience on the first vote and then nominate Ted Cruz on the second ballot. A candidate who is almost universally hated by the Washington elite for those characteristics which make him a reliable, credible, and trustworthy candidate. Here is a man with core values. A man who has stood up to both the opposition and his own party’s leadership to do what was right and what he promised to the constituency that elected him. He has been vilified and plagued by faux scandals – yet he did not fight back by flinging mud or engaging in gutter politics. Those that accuse him of wrongdoing have proven nothing other than they have louder voices in the media “echo chamber.”
Few of those who claim to be constitutional conservatives, including some of the biggest names who have called for years for another Ronald Reagan, how many tuned tail and failed to endorse Cruz? When presented with a candidate that is more like Reagan than anyone who is running, the big mouths in the media gave him grudging praise -- but failed to endorse him. The one notable constitutional conservative and scholar was Mark Levin. Many of Levin’s most notable friends went with the politically expedient choice and failed to uphold constitutional conservatism.
I no longer watch Fox. Megyn Kelly has become a jumped-up diva, Hannity a soporific waste of time, and O’Reilly a fading joke. Other than Bret Baer and Brit Hume, Fox has little or no credibility when it comes to presidential politics. New Yorkers all.
When the GOP convention is over, many in the GOP whose reputations as a conservative and whose career and livelihood is based on promoting the conservative brand will unmasked as fools, frauds, and phonies. Hopefully to fade into the ash-heap of history as beggars who failed to live up to their promises.
We are so screwed.
P.S. For those readers who have kindly suggested that I can enlarge my readership if I go easy on Trump or become a supporter, might I suggest that the day has come for all men and women to stand up for good over evil, right over wrong, and the Constitution of the United States which has served us well over the years. Do not allow the progressive media to lie – the democrat’s were the party of slavery, the democrats were against civil rights, the democrats have failed the minorities, and even worse, the democrats have failed their constituency.
