First, the contextual background on net neutrality …

All files, be they text, audio, or video, are comprised of digital bits (ones and zeros) that are transmitted point-to-point to convey a message. All net neutrality means is that these indistinguishable bits are treated equally by common carriers and internet service providers. That is, there is no surcharge based on the type of content (movie vs.manuscript) and that users are not disadvantaged by time delays because others appear to be willing to pay additional charges to bump their messages to the front of the line for timely delivery. This is distinguishable from charges associated with the type of connection (dial-up, DSL, satellite, cable, etc.), and the connection transfer capacity and speed (Megabits/Second).

Second, political corruption abounds …

Politicians are lobbied by the special interests who trade campaign funding, media assistance, and voter support in return for monopolies and tiered pricing that disadvantages the consumer and keeps profit margins high. How else can you explain the complex pricing schemes and packages – all offering the same commodity transmission of bits – that confuse consumers into paying more money for less service?

Third, what the progressive socialists want …

As the regime in power, the progressive socialist democrats want to gain or maintain their political power. Given the disastrous consequences of their domestic and foreign policies – not to mention the abject failure of Obamacare, the progressive socialist democrats will need record amounts of money in order to run attack ads that may save their advantage in the United States Senate. A corrupt Senate presided over by Harry Reid who has used legislative tricks (aka rules) to see that unelectable and inappropriate nominees for high office and judgeships are confirmed by the Senate and that dishonest treaties are ratified.

To this end, they care nothing about selling out the United States and its citizens to the special interests …

F.C.C., in ‘Net Neutrality’ Turnaround, Plans to Allow Fast Lane

The Federal Communications Commission will propose new rules that allow Internet service providers to offer a faster lane through which to send video and other content to consumers, as long as a content company is willing to pay for it, according to people briefed on the proposals.

The proposed rules are a complete turnaround for the F.C.C. on the subject of so-called net neutrality, the principle that Internet users should have equal ability to see any content they choose, and that no content providers should be discriminated against in providing their offerings to consumers.  Source: F.C.C., in ‘Net Neutrality’ Turnaround, Plans to Allow Fast Lane - NYTimes.com

And, even worse, they want plausible deniability when it comes to taxing the internet and possibly controlling “political hate speech” …

NTIA Announces Intent to Transition Key Internet Domain Name Functions

To support and enhance the multistakeholder model of Internet policymaking and governance, the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) today announces its intent to transition key Internet domain name functions to the global multistakeholder community.  As the first step, NTIA is asking the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to convene global stakeholders to develop a proposal to transition the current role played by NTIA in the coordination of the Internet’s domain name system (DNS).

NTIA’s responsibility includes the procedural role of administering changes to the authoritative root zone file – the database containing the lists of names and addresses of all top-level domains – as well as serving as the historic steward of the DNS.  NTIA currently contracts with ICANN to carry out the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions and has a Cooperative Agreement with Verisign under which it performs related root zone management functions.  <Source>

Essentially, the United States Government, under President Barack Hussein Obama and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats is willing to hand over the keys to the kingdom – the communications infrastructure that controls much of the critical command and control of critical U.S. enterprises over to a so-called “international committee without cost or concern. This is a clear and present danger to America and all Americans.

Bottom line …

  • Are you really that stupid to believe that the increased costs of content-based carriage fees will not be passed along to the American consumer as higher prices for audio and video programming?
  • Are you really that stupid to believe that the Obama Administration – or any Administration for that matter – is consumer friendly at any time other than elections?
  • And, are you so stupid as to believe that foreign sources cannot buy political support – far cheaper than attacking the United States, to advance their anti-America agenda. Mexico has done it for years?

It is time to restore Constitutional checks and balances and limit the power of the President. Throw the progressive socialist democrats and their RINO cohorts out of office before they can do further damage to America and Americans.
