It is beyond ironic that a progressive socialist democrat, State Senator Roderick Wright, CONVICTED of eight felonies, introduced legislation two days later that would allow those in similar circumstances to have their crimes reduced to misdemeanors. Perhaps setting the stage for future legislators to continue their wicked ways?

January 28, 2014 -- Roderick convicted of 8  felonies …

State Sen. Roderick Wright found guilty of perjury, voter fraud

A jury finds that the Democrat lied about his address on voter registration and candidacy papers in 2007 and 2008 and voted fraudulently in five elections. He could get more than eight years in prison.

A Los Angeles jury Tuesday found state Sen. Roderick D. Wright, a fixture in area Democratic politics, guilty on eight felony counts of perjury and voter fraud.

January 30, 2014 -- Roderick introduced Senate Bill SB 929 to convert felonies into misdemeanors …

SB 929, as introduced, Wright. Nonviolent felonies.

Existing law provides that a crime punishable with death, by imprisonment in the state prison, or by imprisonment in a county jail for more than one year is a felony and all other offenses, except those that are classified as infractions, are misdemeanors.

Existing law further provides that a crime that is punishable, in the discretion of the court, as a felony or as a misdemeanor is a misdemeanor under certain circumstances, including when the court grants a defendant probation without imposing a sentence and, at the time of granting probation or on application of the defendant or probation officer thereafter, the court declares the offense to be a misdemeanor.

This bill would require, upon application of a defendant, a felony offense to be deemed a misdemeanor for all purposes, except as specified, if the court finds that certain circumstances apply, including that the defendant was not imprisoned in the state prison for the offense, the offense for which the defendant was convicted was not a serious or violent felony, as defined, the offense does not require registration as a sex offender, the defendant is not currently charged with and has not been convicted of an offense in the preceding 5 years, except as specified, and the defendant presents clear and convincing evidence that he or she has been rehabilitated.

Bottom line …

How can you have any faith in the legislative process when a legislator is convicted of serious crimes on a Tuesday, flies back to Sacramento, and puts forth his own “get out of jail” card?

Corrupt and shameless, another progressive socialist democrat finds himself in trouble and tries to legislate his way out of a bind. It is almost like he knows that more California progressive socialist democrat legislators will be found guilty of non-violent felonies in the future and can have their sentences reduced – to the point where they can continue to sponge off the state, either as elected or appointed officials.

Remember this when you vote in the upcoming 2014 election and have an opportunity to toss the progressive socialist democrats at local, state, and federal levels out of office before the destroy America.

The progressive socialist democrats who dominate education have made political correctness a part of the educational mandate and curriculum. Spending more time, effort, and money in ensuring equal outcomes rather than allowing talented individuals to excel within the system. Even to the point of dumbing-down tests and pass/fail requirements to mask the massive failure of the educational system that produces decade after decade of functional illiterates. Students who cannot tell time without a digital watch, cannot use a library to research a paper off-line, and produce a term paper without the cut-and-paste ability of a computer. Not to mention requiring calculators to perform ordinary arithmetic. No wonder so many fast-food franchises and banks have installed change-making coin systems to avoid overtaxing the mental capacities of their workers.

When diversity trumps excellence in education …

NYC school cuts popular gifted program over lack of diversity: report

A popular gifted-student program at a New York City elementary school is getting the ax after school officials decided it lacked diversity.

"Our Kindergarten classes will be heterogeneously grouped to reflect the diversity of our student body and the community we live in," Miss McDonald said in the letter posted on

In a follow-up letter sent to parents Monday, Miss McDonald wrote: "At PS 193, we believe that all children can learn and achieve high standards. We also know that we want all children at PS 193 to have equal access to high quality, challenging curriculum, and to have ample opportunities to master complex material and build academic and personal self-confidence. We also want our classes to reflect the diversity of our community. We believe we can have both: classrooms characterized by rigor and diversity."  Source: NYC school cuts popular gifted program over lack of diversity: report - Washington Times

The progressive agenda of proportionality …

Success in America is not allocated in proportion to the class, race, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender, or sexual orientation of its population. But that is exactly what the progressive socialist democrats believe. That 9 people on the United States Supreme Court should mirror the numerical proportion of the greater American population – as if that were even possible. They, the progressive socialist democrats, promise every voting minority classification that their struggle will not be over until their class is proportionately represented everywhere. Like socialist unions, merit and native ability is trumped by seniority.

And, then there is the rhetoric …

“We also know that we want all children at PS 193 to have equal access to high quality, challenging curriculum, and to have ample opportunities to master complex material and build academic and personal self-confidence.”

If it were about high quality education and challenging curriculum, the teachers’ unions would be long gone – along with the bloated and over-paid bureaucracies that run most school systems. School boards would be more concerned with educating the children rather than promoting their own future political agenda and feathering their own nests by pandering to the special interests that insure pencils cost $1, books cost $50-$100, and that all of the necessary pensions and perks continue to be funded.

Bottom line …

Progressive socialist democrats and their pursuit of politically correct diversity insures that society manifests a downward spiral of mediocrity and ignorance as we educate our children to the “lowest common denominator” to insure that all students – regardless of their physical and intellectual abilities – are treated as “educational units” in a factory. And, when the outcomes are dismal and the product is a failure, it becomes times to, once again, lower the standards to insure diversity – but mostly to hide the failure of the teachers to do their jobs. Pretty much why the unions and their paid political hacks fear school voucher programs, testing for teacher competency in the subject matter they teach, and hold teachers accountable for the results they produce.

It is important to note that the teachers unions have been pushing pre-Kindergarten education to expand the ranks of unionized educational workers. Full well knowing that any pre-K education dissipates quickly and is functionally worthless in producing a superior student or a superior educational experience.

Does Prekindergarten Improve School Preparation and Performance?

The share of children attending early education programs in the United States has risen dramatically in recent years. Some 66 percent of four-year olds were enrolled in a pre-kindergarten center or a school-based preschool program in 2001. That's up from 23 percent thirty years earlier. Particularly striking, early education programs sponsored by school districts now serve one in seven four-year-olds. One frequent motivation for this early education is to insure that disadvantaged children with academic skill deficits are better prepared when they start school. But is it worth all the money and effort being spent in advancing children's school readiness?

Using a new rich source of data, researchers Katherine Magnuson, Christopher Ruhm, and Jane Waldfogel conclude in Does Prekindergarten Improve School Preparation and Performance? (NBER Working Paper No. 10452) that early education does increase reading and mathematics skills at school entry, but it also boosts children's classroom behavioral problems and reduces their self-control. Further, for most children the positive effects of pre-kindergarten on skills largely dissipate by the spring of first grade, although the negative behavioral effects continue. In the study, the authors take account of many factors affecting a child, including family background and neighborhood characteristics. These factors include race/ethnicity, age, health status at birth, height, weight, and gender, family income related to need, language spoken in the home, and so on. <Source>

It is time to do away with political correctness and the progressive socialist democrats at every level (local, state, and federal) who spout this nonsense to pursue their toxic agenda. Especially important is to remove progressive socialist democrats from Congress where they unconstitutionally push programs that deeply affect all Americans and the safety and security of America.

Imagine the following scenario. You are in the proximity of a crime, be it homicide, drug dealing, a bank robbery, and the law enforcement authorities decide you are a potential witness because some electronic device has geo-tagged you at that location. The device can be your car, or more likely, your phone or computer. And, if the police can get this information, so can the lawyers defending the bad guys – potentially sparking an investigation into your past with the purpose of discrediting you as a witness.

Unlikely you say? Look at these two new Google patents …

United States Patent Application 20140025754  -- MOB SOURCE PHONE VIDEO COLLABORATION

Methods and systems for identifying video clips in a video clip repository that are of the same event are disclosed. Video clips are identified as being of the same event based on timestamps and geo-location stamps associated with the video clips. In one embodiment, authors of video clips receive messages that notify them of the existence of other video clips of the same event.

Video is becoming pervasive on the World Wide Web. In addition to content providers (e.g., news organizations, media companies, etc.) providing a wealth of video clips on their websites, everyday users are uploading user-generated video clips to various repository websites. In addition, users of such websites may "follow" other users in the same way as users of social networking services and conveniently view video clips uploaded by or recommended by these other users. User-generated video clips are typically recorded with digital video cameras, digital still cameras that have video capability, and increasingly, wireless terminals (e.g., smartphones, etc.) that have still camera and video capabilities.

In an embodiment of the present invention, a computer system identifies video clips of an event (e.g., a wedding, a sports event, an everyday scene, etc.) based on timestamps and geo-location stamps of the video clips, and transmits a message that indicates the existence of the video clips.

United States Patent Application 20140025755 -- INFERRING EVENTS BASED ON MOB SOURCE VIDEO

Methods and systems are disclosed for inferring that an event of interest (e.g., a public gathering, a performance, an accident, etc.) has likely occurred. In particular, when there are at least a given number of video clips with similar timestamps and geo-location stamps uploaded to a repository, it is inferred that an event of interest has likely occurred, and a notification signal is transmitted (e.g., to a law enforcement agency, to a news organization, to a publisher of a periodical, to a public blog, etc.).

Video is becoming pervasive on the World Wide Web. In addition to content providers (e.g., news organizations, media companies, etc.) providing a wealth of video clips on their websites, everyday users are uploading user-generated video clips to various repository websites. User-generated video clips are typically recorded with digital video cameras, digital still cameras that have video capability, and increasingly, wireless terminals (e.g., smartphones, etc.) that have still camera and video capabilities.

In an embodiment of the present invention, a computer system infers that an event of interest (e.g., a public gathering, a performance, an accident, etc.) has likely occurred when there are at least a given number of video clips with similar timestamps and geo-location stamps uploaded to a repository. The computer system, in response to the inference, transmits a notification (e.g., to a law enforcement agency, to a news organization, to a publisher of a periodical, to a public blog, etc.) that indicates the likely occurrence of an event, as well as a time and geo-location associated with the event.

Of course, the patent applications do not mention that a number of people at a sporting event, or even a family picnic, might have their uploaded photos and other information automatically sent to law enforcement, the media, and others who have no legitimate interest in private activities that may be occurring on private property.

Bottom line …

Another example of how we are losing our privacy one device at a time. Let us not forget that Google has recently purchased Nest, the maker of intelligent thermostats and smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, and that many televisions now contain surveillance devices that can record audio, video, and provide further information (pulse rate, etc.) on people in proximity to the device – witting or unwitting.

It is time to insure that we update our Constitutional rights to due process and against unreasonable search and seizure in this digital age. We have surpassed anything that George Orwell may have imagined in his iconic work, 1984.

My parents, both democrats and now deceased, looked upon Henry Waxman as a friend, a supporter of Israel, and a man who looked out for the common man. Being relatively apolitical, my hardworking father avoided most political discussions – unlike me, his errant son – as being unproductive, especially because there was essentially nothing anyone could do about the politicians or their legislation. I had met Henry and his progressive partner Howard Berman (aka the Waxman-Berman team) on a number of occasions and found them both to be polite, but pragmatic.

As I grew older, I came to realize that the democrat party of my father was rapidly changing into something that did not bode well for the nation. Reluctantly, I switched my party affiliation in college. Not so reluctantly, I switched my Republican registration to independent. Complete with a picture of my arm placing the new registration request in the postbox.

Now, we find that the GOP is leaderless and without real direction. But, the old time democrats, many of whom moved toward radical progressive socialism, are retiring. Thus, providing hope for the country and our future. The opportunity to bring about a younger leadership – and possibly one that is not so entrenched and corrupt.

The self-congratulatory announcement from Waxman’s office …

Rep. Henry A. Waxman Announces Plans to Retire from Congress

Congressman Henry A. Waxman, a senior Democrat from California, who has played a leading role in the enactment of major health, consumer protection, environmental, telecommunications, and good government laws, released the following statement announcing his decision not to seek reelection to the House this fall:

In 1974, I announced my first campaign for Congress.  Today, I am announcing that I have run my last campaign.  I will not seek reelection to the Congress and will leave after 40 years in office at the end of this year.

As I reflect on my career, I am filled with gratitude.  I am grateful for the support of my constituents, who have entrusted me to represent them and encouraged me to become a leader on national and international issues.  I am grateful for my supporters and allies, who have worked side-by-side with me to fight for issues we care about:  health, environmental protection, women’s and gay rights, and strengthening the ties between the United States and our most important ally, the State of Israel.

I am grateful for the friendship of my colleagues in Congress on both sides of the aisle.  And I am honored that I served under the leadership of my friend, Nancy Pelosi, the first female Leader and Speaker of the House.

I have long believed that a member of Congress is only as effective as his or her staff.  I have been lucky to have a brilliant and committed staff who have labored tirelessly for me and the public good.  I thank them deeply.

And most of all, I want to thank my family.  My wife Janet has supported me, cared for me, and made my life a blessing for over 40 years.  And my children, Shai and Michael, and my grandchildren have given my life purpose and meaning.

I first ran for office because I believe government can be a force for good in people’s lives.  I have held this view throughout my career in Congress.  And I will leave the House of Representatives with my conviction intact.  I have learned that progress is not always easy.  It can take years of dedication and struggle.  But it’s worth fighting for.

My parents were scarred by the Great Depression and as a result they were ardent Democrats.  They believed in the ideals of this wonderful country and made sure that I had the opportunity to be the first in the family to get a college education.  They taught me that the special interests have plenty of advocates; it’s the poor, the sick, and the powerless who need a champion in Congress.  And that’s what I’ve strived to be.

I take pride in my legislative accomplishments.

I took on the pharmaceutical companies that did not want competition and joined with Senator Orrin Hatch to write the law that created the generic drug industry, saving families over $1 trillion in the last decade alone.  My orphan drug legislation led to treatments for hundreds of rare diseases.

My investigations into the tobacco industry called the CEOs to account and exposed the industry’s duplicity.  After more than a decade of effort, President Obama signed into law my legislation to give FDA jurisdiction over tobacco products.

I held hearings to expose flagrant abuses in nursing homes and passed legislation to protect nursing home residents and create a resident’s ‘Bill of Rights.’  And I spoke out early to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS, holding over 30 hearings to draw attention to a disease no one wanted to discuss.  These efforts culminated in the passage of the Ryan White CARE Act, the law that provides medical care and services to Americans living with HIV/AIDS.

To protect consumers, I wrote three major food safety laws.  The first law created the nutrition labels that millions of families rely on every day.  The second removed dangerous pesticides from fruits and vegetables.  And the third will help make imported food safer.

Expanding health coverage to those in need has been one of my driving passions.  In the 1980s, I led the fight to expand Medicaid, providing health coverage to millions of low-income children, pregnant women, and seniors.  In the 1990s, I worked with Senator Ted Kennedy to provide coverage to the children of working families through the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

“And in 2010, when I was chair of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, one of my lifelong dreams was finally achieved:  Congress passed the Affordable Care Act, which guarantees access to affordable health coverage to all Americans.

I've also worked throughout my career to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.  I have traveled to Israel on numerous occasions and will never forget the times Janet and I were there to greet President Sadat of Egypt and to see the arrival of the airlift carrying Ethiopian refugees.  I fought for the right of Soviet Jews to emigrate and took great satisfaction in seeing Refusenicks that I had met in the former Soviet Union achieve their dream of living in the Jewish State of Israel.  I authored the Middle East Regional Cooperation Program for scientific exchanges between the U.S., Israel, and the Arab countries.  And it is with pride that I have seen my daughter thrive in Israel and my grandchildren serve in the Israeli army.

[This is the one area that Waxman has remained true to his original vision!]

In perhaps no area have the special interests held more sway than environmental policy, and I have battled them to protect clean air and safe drinking water throughout my career.  It took a decade of effort to pass the landmark Clean Air Act of 1990, but the controls on urban smog, toxic air pollution, acid rain, and ozone-depleting chemicals have saved lives and vastly improved our air quality.

In recent years, I have been leading the fight in Congress for limits on the carbon pollution that is causing global climate change.  In 2009, I joined with now Senator Ed Markey to pass the Waxman-Markey climate bill through the House.  Last Congress, I formed a Safe Climate Caucus in the House and a Bicameral Task Force with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse to build public support for the effort to protect our fragile atmosphere for our children and grandchildren.

Even if Congress won’t act on climate, President Obama can.  The President has laid out a plan to reduce emissions by 17% by 2020, the goal we set in the House legislation.  And he is working with other nations to set an ambitious target for post-2020 reductions.  Whether Congress acts or not, the Clean Air Act gives President Obama – and future Presidents – ample authority to achieve these emission reductions.

Most of the public thinks of Congress as a legislative body.  But Congress can also serve the public through oversight.  The investigations I led on the Oversight Committee with Tom Davis, a Virginia Republican, identified procurement abuses that cost taxpayers billions of dollars, especially in Iraq.  Our hearings on steroids in baseball prompted reforms that cut steroid use by teens in half and pushed all sports leagues to strengthen their drug policies. We also held hearings to reveal the causes of the mortgage meltdown and Wall Street crash.

When I was first elected to the House – in 1974 – I hoped to be able to serve 20 years and leave a mark on some important issues.  I never imagined I would be in the House for 40 years and be able to advance every issue I care deeply about.  But in what feels like a blink of an eye, it has been 40 years and I've devoted most of my life to the House of Representatives.

It has been an extraordinary experience.  The House is a remarkable institution and it is an honor to have a chance – every day – to make a difference in the lives of my constituents and families across our country.

I want to add a few comments about my decision.

There are elements of Congress today that I do not like.  I abhor the extremism of the Tea Party Republicans.  I am embarrassed that the greatest legislative body in the world too often operates in a partisan intellectual vacuum, denying science, refusing to listen to experts, and ignoring facts.

But I am not leaving out of frustration with Congress.  Even in today’s environment, there are opportunities to make real progress.  Last Congress, I worked with Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate to pass legislation that will ease the nation’s growing spectrum shortage, spur innovation in new ‘Super WiFi’ technologies, and create a national broadband network for first responders.  Just last year, I worked on a bipartisan basis to enact legislation strengthening FDA’s authority to stop dangerous drug compounding and to track pharmaceuticals through the supply chain.

“And I am not leaving because I think House Democrats have no chance to retake the House.  House Republicans have no compelling vision for the future.  The public understands this, and I am confident that the Democrats can regain control of the House.

The reason for my decision is simple.  After 40 years in Congress, it’s time for someone else to have the chance to make his or her mark, ideally someone who is young enough to make the long-term commitment that’s required for real legislative success.  I still feel youthful and energetic, but I recognize if I want to experience a life outside of Congress, I need to start soon.  Public office is not the only way to serve, and I want to explore other avenues while I still can.

I have had a long career and an eventful one – and I wouldn’t trade any of it.  I woke each day looking forward to opportunities to make our country stronger, healthier, and fairer.  And I will always be grateful for this honor and privilege.

A report documenting Rep. Waxman’s record of accomplishment is available online here.

Bottom line …

It’s about time that ossified hyper-partisan progressive socialist democrats leave the stage. Lest they be thrown out of office by those who note that they are corrupt and have done serious damage to the America we love.

I would ordinarily wish Waxman well, but he has produced legislation that is more like the McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, and McCain-Lieberman nonsense than anything helpful. I am sure he is well-fixed in his retirement as are most politicians who have spent decades feathering their own nests, legally trading on their position and inside information that would send us ordinary people to jail.

A clear demonstration of why there should be absolute term limits to keep our politicians from growing even more corrupt as time progresses.

Once again, the GOP is prepared to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory …

There are those in the Republican Party who have absolutely no sense of honor or their duty to America. They are so afraid of losing their positions that they are willing to compromise the safety and security of America in favor of supporting those who tend to support progressive socialist democrat causes and/or have an allegiance to a foreign sovereign nation. It is amazing to me that the United States allows such a thing as "dual citizenship" because it is historically obvious that a person cannot serve two masters with conflicting and competing viewpoints. Likewise, our political leadership cannot serve our nation and continue to pander to the illegal alien special interests, both foreign and domestic.

Top Republicans have circulated a one-page memo on immigration reform that is absolutely worthless … [My comments in blue italic]

Standards for Immigration Reform

Our nation’s immigration system is broken and our laws are not being enforced. Washington’s failure to fix them is hurting our economy and jeopardizing our national security. The overriding purpose of our immigration system is to promote and further America’s national interests and that is not the case today.  The serious problems in our immigration system must be solved, and we are committed to working in a bipartisan manner to solve them. But they cannot be solved with a single, massive piece of legislation that few have read and even fewer understand, and therefore, we will not go to conference with the Senate's immigration bill.  The problems in our immigration system must be solved through a step-by- step, common-sense approach that starts with securing our country’s borders, enforcing our laws, and implementing robust enforcement measures. These are the principles guiding us in that effort:

[Simple question: why are those who are violating their oaths of office not impeached for perjury (violating one’s oath) and/or criminally prosecuted as an aider and abettor of criminal statutes? Why isn’t President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder being impeached for violating existing law by refusing to enforce existing laws and/or making up rules that sanction violating existing laws?]

Border Security and Interior Enforcement Must Come First

It is the fundamental duty of any government to secure its borders, and the United States is failing in this mission. We must secure our borders now and verify that they are secure. In addition, we must ensure now that when immigration reform is enacted, there will be a zero tolerance policy for those who cross the border illegally or overstay their visas in the future. Faced with a consistent pattern of administrations of both parties only selectively enforcing our nation's immigration laws, we must enact reform that ensures that a President cannot unilaterally stop immigration enforcement.

[Bullshit times ten. How many times have we heard politicians say exactly the same thing and then look the other way when they have clearly failed their oath of office?]

Implement Entry-Exit Visa Tracking System

A fully functioning Entry-Exit System has been mandated by eight separate statutes over the last 17 years. At least three of these laws call for this system to be biometric, using technology to verify identity and prevent fraud. We must implement this system so we can identify and track down visitors who abuse our laws.

[Again, this is an example where politicians have violated their oath of office and failed to protect America and Americans based on their own self-interests.]

Employment Verification and Workplace Enforcement

In the 21st century, it is unacceptable that the majority of employees have their work eligibility verified though a paper - based system wrought with fraud. It is past time for this country to fully implement a workable electronic employment verification system.

[We have a workable e-verify system now, unfortunately the politicians claim that 98% reliability is not good enough because it disadvantages a number of people.]

Reforms to the Legal Immigration System

For far too long, the United States has emphasized extended family members and pure luck over employment –based immigration. This is inconsistent with nearly every other developed nation.  Every year thousands of foreign nationals pursue degrees at America’s colleges and universities, particularly in high skilled fields. Many of them want to use their expertise in U.S industries that will spur economic growth and create jobs for Americans. When visas aren’t available, we end up exporting this labor and ingenuity to other countries. Visa and green card allocations need to reflect the needs of employers and the desire for these exceptional individuals to help to grow our economy.

[The United States politicians have a de facto policy that imports illiteracy, poverty, ill-health, and criminal activity because they refuse to uphold and enforce existing laws for political reasons. This is related to the special interest corruption of politicians and the politicians’ willingness to sell-out their nation for their political well-being.]

[The statement that when visas aren’t available … is nonsensical – as these people never come to this nation, so it is impossible that we export this labor and ingenuity to other countries. In fact, many multi-national companies maintain development teams in other countries such as Russia, Israel, Ireland, India, and other countries known for their technological talent. There is little or no need to provide these people with visas unless “working in the United States with a possibility of citizenship is being used to entice their employment.”]

The goal of any temporary worker program should be to address the economic needs of the country and to strengthen our national security by allowing for realistic, enforceable, usable, legal paths for entry into the United States.  Of particular concern are the needs of the agricultural industry, among others. It is imperative that these temporary workers are able to meet the economic needs of the country and do not displace or disadvantage American workers.

[There is no need to provide temporary workers with a path to amnesty, only to insure they leave when their visas expire.]

One of the great founding principles of our country was that children would not be punished for the mistakes of their parents. It is time to provide an opportunity for legal residence and citizenship for those who were brought to this country as children through no fault of their own, those who know no other place as home. For those who meet certain eligibility standards, and serve honorably in our military or attain a college degree, we will do just that.

[This is backdoor amnesty that is exploited on behalf of children not born in the United States and is another attractive magnet for the illegal violation of our nation’s sovereignty. Many activists are demanding that the parents also be allowed to remain in this country because they want to avoid “breaking up the illegal alien family.” And, by the way, when parents are deported, they can take their children with them.]

Individuals Living Outside the Rule of Law

Our national and economic security depend on requiring people who are living and working here illegally to come forward and get right with the law. There will be no special path to citizenship for individuals who broke our nation’s immigration laws - that would be unfair to those immigrants who have played by the rules and harmful to promoting the rule of law. Rather, these persons could live legally and without fear in the U.S., but only if they were willing to admit their culpability, pass rigorous background checks, pay significant fines and back taxes, develop proficiency in English and American civics, and be able to support themselves and their families (without access to public benefits). Criminal aliens, gang members and sex offenders and those who do not meet the above requirements will not be eligible for this program. Finally, none of this can happen before specific enforcement triggers have been implemented to fulfill our promise to the American people that from here on, our immigration laws will indeed be enforced.

[This is de facto amnesty, period!]

What to make of this wishy-washy working paper that is long on a historically corrupt philosophy and pattern of action and shot on actionable details? Beats me, as this appears to be one of the efforts put forth by our fair-haired Speaker of the House, John Boehner, a man more at home in a country club than the House of Representatives.

House GOP Immigration Principles Omit the Most Important Principle: Protecting the Interests of the American People

In response to today’s release by the Republican House leadership of their principles for immigration reform, the following statement was issued by Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR):

“Instead of standing up for Americans, House Republicans have unfortunately offered nothing more than a vague set of principles in a seeming effort to satisfy special interests, while wholesale ignoring the American People."

The Republican principles call for illegal aliens to be allowed to ‘live legally and without fear in the U.S.’ of having the law enforced against them. This is clearly and undeniably amnesty. There is one way for illegal aliens to ‘get right with the law,’ and that is to obey the law.

“In addition, the document calls for immediate and unconditional amnesty for younger illegal aliens. The DREAM Act has been repeatedly rejected by Congress and the American people. It is an inducement for millions more parents to send or bring their children to the United States illegally in the future.

“Like the Senate bill they disavow, the House GOP principles would grant immediate legal status to illegal aliens before any enforcement provisions are in place.

The Republican principles reiterate enforcement promises that have already been enacted and routinely ignored by both Democratic and Republican administrations.

The principles clearly bear the fingerprints of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other corporate interests that have been aggressively lobbying the House leadership for more cheap foreign labor, both permanent and temporary.

Moreover, while criticizing the current family chain migration policy, the Republican principles do not call for the elimination of immigration entitlements for extended family members.

Like President Obama, the House leadership’s principles would put a dagger through the heart of the struggling American middle class by flooding our already saturated labor market with millions of new workers who will compete against them for jobs and undercut wages.

Like President Obama, the House leadership’s plan for immigration reform would place unsustainable burdens on our already overburdened and underfunded social safety net.

In short, the principles offered by the House leadership not only ignore the core interests of the American people, they willingly sacrifice those interests to satisfy the demands of powerful special interest groups.

Decibels, Dollars, and Democracy ...

It appears that those with the loudest voices, the pro-immigration activists and the government bureaucracy that has developed over time to serve the interests of these mostly poor minorities, all clamor for things that will promote their self-interests with an open-borders entitlement agenda. Promising a massive voting block to the party that gives them what they are demanding. Even if such voting block is unlikely to sway an election.

They are supported by the GOP RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) who tend to support the progressive socialist democrats as a way to hold their jobs in progressive states and districts -- their country be damned. They are supported by big business who sees a source of cheap labor. And, they are supported by some of the rank-and-file GOP members because they see an increasing supply of tax revenue from people now made legal and accountable to the IRS for previous under-the-table income -- thus adding more money to Social Security and Medicare.

Unfortunately, the credit for any action will only accrue to the progressive socialist democrats no matter what the GOP says or does. It will be a progressive socialist democrat president who signs the law into effect, surrounded by progressive socialist democrat congress members and progressive socialist activists. If there will be any GOP presence, it will a the leadership, most of whom reside in inconsequential districts.

Bottom line ...

WHY? Why does the GOPS continue to seek the Hispanic vote that will not result in the support of the party and ultimately result in the promotion of progressive socialist democrats?

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the corruption in political parties and among the politicians themselves is a clear and present danger to America and all Americans. Solving problematical social issues by legalizing the illegal  is not any more acceptable than excusing bad behavior by pointing to other bad behavior.

Unfortunately, Americans cannot trust the President, those who operate from the White House, nor can they trust much of Congress. Corruption abounds and many of our elected officials are willing to sell out America and Americans in favor of those special interests that provide them with post-office profits, perks, and privileges, as well as current campaign funding, media and voter support.

We are so screwed. That is, unless "We the People" rise above apathy and are willing to send a clear message to Congress by removing progressive socialist democrats from both chambers of Congress and restoring the constitutional checks and balances envisioned by our Founding Fathers.

Vote wisely in 2014 -- it might be the last time you are able to vote!

Passing through my e-mail and worth passing along ...

From a Marine Corps Colonel in Afghanistan:

"So with all the kindness I can muster, I give this one piece of advice to the next pop star who is asked to sing the national anthem at a sporting event: save the vocal gymnastics and the physical gyrations for your concerts.

Just sing this song the way you were taught to sing it in kindergarten - straight up, no styling.

"Sing it with the constant awareness that there are soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines watching you from bases and outposts all over the world.

Don't make them cringe with your self-centered ego gratification.

Sing it as if you are standing before a row of 86-year-old WWII vets wearing their Purple Hearts, Silver Stars and flag pins on their cardigans and you want them to be proud of you for honoring them and the country they love - not because you want them to think you are a superstar musician. They could see that from your costume, makeup and your entourage.

Sing 'The Star Spangled Banner' with the courtesy and humility that tells the audience that it is about America, not you. And please remember, not everything has to be sung as a Negro spiritual. We're getting a little weary of that.

Francis Scott Key does not need any help."

I don’t know if this was said before about other sporting events. I don’t care if Snopes can claim it is misattributed. It rings true to me and I couldn’t have said it any better!

We appear to be lucky that an accomplished singer, Renée Fleming, will do the honors …

In an era when our political leadership disrespects the military and the majority of useful idiots worship celebrity, there comes a time when tradition should surpass entertainment and make us reflect on who we are, why we are here, and who keeps us safe at night.

A senseless killing …

Kim Pham

January 19, 2014, about 12:30 a.m. at a Santa Ana club, a young Vietnamese woman, Kim Pham, was assaulted for allegedly walking in front of a group having their pictures taken. Unknown words were exchanged and it appears two or more suspects beat and kicked 23-year old Kim Pham so viciously that she was later declared brain dead. People around her, possibly friends and others, used their phones to capture video of the horrific event. There does not appear to be anyone who effectively intervened and prevented a beat-down from turning into a killing.

The police were originally seeking five people of interest that were described as being two males and three females, all Hispanic between 20 and 25 years of age. Two females believed to be involved in the brutal assault – now murder – are in custody and have been charged.

The “Wall of Silence”

According to the Los Angeles Times, the investigation has been impeded by a reluctance of witnesses to come forward. Something that is being, in my opinion, falsely ascribed to a social pattern of behavior and practice that is being linked to communist oppression.

Investigation into Santa Ana beating death hits a wall of silence -- Some of Kim Pham's friends may hold the clues that could bring her killers to justice. But so far, nobody is talking.

But as Santa Ana police detectives try to make sense of the melee that led to her death, the investigation is running into a wall of silence. Pham's friends have failed to come forward. One flatly refused to meet with law enforcement, despite pleas from the police.

Longtime observers of Orange County's sprawling Vietnamese population say the dynamic doesn't surprise them in a community where distrust of authority — and reluctance to cooperate with police — still runs through generations. Many arrived in America with fresh memories of the deeply corrupt government back home. "People worry that there will be retaliation," said Cmdr. Tim Vu, the highest-ranking Vietnamese American in law enforcement in Orange County. "They don't know the court system and are intimidated by it."

Vu said it is hard to convince some in the community that retaliation against witnesses is rare. "We need to reassure immigrants or potential witnesses that it's not about them," he said. "It's about all the evidence and all other witnesses."

<Source: L.A.Times>

What the Los Angeles Times appear to have gotten wrong about the Pham murder is that there were others in attendance who were not Vietnamese. And, what the law enforcement authorities are reluctant to say out loud is that many of these potential witnesses may fear Hispanic gang-style retaliation against anyone who provides information to the authorities.

Many people believe that members of the Vietnamese community are reluctant to testify because they were victims of police and political oppression in Vietnam. What people do not realize is that the majority of these immigrants – and now loyal, law-abiding citizens -- came from South Vietnam and fled as the South was being invaded from the communist North. Americans were forced to pull out due to a lack of political will – mostly ginned up by the progressive socialist democrats -- to sustain the fight for liberty and freedom. Leaving millions of innocents to be slaughtered by the repressive regimes of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Much like the current conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It appears that the progressive-biased mainstream media is extremely reluctant to admit is that many inner city areas, most governed by progressive socialist democrats, are cesspools of decay, poverty, illiteracy, ill-health, and most disturbing, feature armed criminal gangs that prey upon citizens like domestic terrorists. (Ironic that Vietnamese gangs who would traditionally protect the community from outsiders, are massively outnumbered and out-gunned by the Hispanic gangs and can no longer protect their community.)

Bottom line …

That Santa Ana law enforcement agencies cannot offer some measure of safety and security to area residents who might be willing to testify is an ugly, ugly truth. An absolute argument for the Second Amendment and one’s right to self-defense in a time when California politicians are attempting to disarm the law-abiding citizen and creating even larger pools of victims.

Remember those California politicians when you stand in the voting booth – the corrupt, radical progressive socialist democrats who are trying to disarm you and make you a victim that requires bigger government to keep you safe.

Here is a clear demonstration that the police cannot protect you when you need that protection the most.

One might even say that the progressive socialist democrats in California have declared a war on women by denying them any means for self-defense against larger or more numerous attackers.

All is not well in our nation with five years of failure …

On the day that Barack Obama delivers the State of the Union Address in front of a joint session of Congress, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows that:

  • Obama’s job approval is low, with 51% (+/- 3.5%) of those surveyed disapproving of his performance. (43% – approve, 6% – not sure)
  • Congressional job approval is abysmally low, with 81% of those surveyed disapproving of Congressional performance. (13% – approve, 6% – not sure)
  • 63% of those surveyed believe the nation is heading in the wrong direction. (28% believe we are heading in the right direction)
  • 3% of Americans believe that America is a strong nation as it stands today.

Obama appears to have lost the trust of the nation and has little or no personal credibility when it comes to his policies …

  • President Obama is a proven liar. So nothing he says can be trusted!
  • President Obama is a Marxist ideologue who favors those who we are fighting on foreign shores. Disadvantaging our friends and allies and giving aid and comfort to our enemies. Possibly allowing Iran to go nuclear and threaten the entire Middle East.
  • President Obama’s policies, both domestic and foreign have been failures.
  • President Obama exhibits little or no leadership, leaving the heavy lifting to others who he is willing to throw under the bus should their be an adverse result. Preferring to campaign, fundraise, and vacation rather than govern. That is, when he is not blaming his predecessor or others for his leadership failures or the failure of his policies, both foreign and domestic. He is known to allow his Administration to stonewall legitimate congressional inquiry, allowing a scandal to “age,” and then claiming it is old news and not worthy of discussion while he concentrates on moving forward.
  • President Obama refuses to engage with Congress, especially avoiding members of the opposition who still represent 47% of the nation’s constituency.
  • Obama is a divider, not a uniter when it comes to the progressive socialist democrats dividing America into groups based on race, class, income, gender, etc.
  • President Obama is corrupt, with special interests and cronies receiving hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money; many enterprises declaring bankruptcy shortly after being funded by the government.
  • President Obama has become increasingly lawless, breaching the law-making function of Congress and refusing to uphold the laws of the land.
  • President Obama has nationalized one-sixth of our economy and placed the health of Americans at significant and serious risk with this wealth re-distribution scheme.
  • President Obama and his Administration has squandered billions of the taxpayer’s money, using funds to purchase votes and political support and insure that unionized government workers are protected from the downturn in our economy. The tax code under Obama contains inexplicable provisions that harm the middle class and provide tax benefits to special interests. Using fees rather than taxes to grab even more of a citizen’s income.
  • President Obama touts illegal aliens who are taking American jobs and crippling our social safety nets.
  • Obama uses environmental policies to control and curb the economy with unnecessary and unconstitutional rules and regulations.
  • President Obama has politicized regulatory agencies, especially the IRS, and made them instruments of political persuasion and punishment.

What do Americans want from this President and Congress?

The simple answer is leadership. Keeping our country strong, creating jobs and reducing government spending. Less ideology and more bipartisan cooperation.

President Obama represents a clear and present danger to our nation when he threatens to breach the Constitution and take unilateral action on his policies …

From the speech excerpts …

“But what I offer tonight is a set of concrete, practical proposals to speed up growth, strengthen the middle class, and build new ladders of opportunity into the middle class.  Some require Congressional action, and I’m eager to work with all of you.  But America does not stand still – and neither will I.”

“So wherever and whenever I can take steps without legislation to expand opportunity for more American families, that’s what I’m going to do.”

“After four years of economic growth, corporate profits and stock prices have rarely been higher, and those at the top have never done better.  But average wages have barely budged.”  “Inequality has deepened. Upward mobility has stalled. The cold, hard fact is that even in the midst of recovery, too many Americans are working more than ever just to get by – let alone get ahead.  And too many still aren’t working at all.”

Text of full address as prepared for delivery.

Lies, half-truths, distortion, and misdirection …

And it is American diplomacy, backed by pressure, that has halted the progress of Iran’s nuclear program – and rolled parts of that program back – for the very first time in a decade.

As we gather here tonight, Iran has begun to eliminate its stockpile of higher levels of enriched uranium.  It is not installing advanced centrifuges.

Unprecedented inspections help the world verify, every day, that Iran is not building a bomb.

And with our allies and partners, we’re engaged in negotiations to see if we can peacefully achieve a goal we all share: preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. These negotiations will be difficult.  They may not succeed.

We are clear-eyed about Iran’s support for terrorist organizations like Hezbollah, which threaten our allies; and the mistrust between our nations cannot be wished away.

But these negotiations do not rely on trust; any long-term deal we agree to must be based on verifiable action that convinces us and the international community that Iran is not building a nuclear bomb.

If John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan could negotiate with the Soviet Union, then surely a strong and confident America can negotiate with less powerful adversaries today.

The sanctions that we put in place helped make this opportunity possible.  But let me be clear: if this Congress sends me a new sanctions bill now that threatens to derail these talks, I will veto it.  For the sake of our national security, we must give diplomacy a chance to succeed.

If Iran’s leaders do not seize this opportunity, then I will be the first to call for more sanctions, and stand ready to exercise all options to make sure Iran does not build a nuclear weapon.
But if Iran’s leaders do seize the chance, then Iran could take an important step to rejoin the community of nations, and we will have resolved one of the leading security challenges of our time without the risks of war.

Text of full address as prepared for delivery.

I call bullshit! First, the Iranians claim that there are few restrictions of the kind that Obama touts as already accomplished. The Obama Administration refuses to release the text of the agreement and the Iranians claim there is a 30-page “side-text.” The sad fact is that you can’t trust the Administration to tell the truth to the American people. Note the internal inconsistency of noting that the negotiations are difficult and they may not succeed. And, yet the President speaks as if the negotiation were complete and Iran nuclear ambitions have been thwarted. Not even close to the truth.

If this man is prepared to sacrifice Israel on the basis of his rhetoric, how can Americans trust him to keep America and Americans safe from the terrorists who are in all likelihood already here. Hiding among the other illegal aliens that the government professes they know nothing about. Not their numbers, not their locations, and certainly not their loyalties to the United States rather than their foreign sovereign national origin.

“Americans understand that some people will earn more than others, and we don’t resent those who, by virtue of their efforts, achieve incredible success.”

Anyone who has been paying attention to Obama’s socialist rhetoric, class warfare is the principal means for sowing dissent among women, the minorities and the poor.

De facto minimum wage by fiat -- an example of the power of the pen …

In the coming weeks, I will issue an Executive Order requiring federal contractors to pay their federally-funded employees a fair wage of at least $10.10 an hour – because if you cook our troops’ meals or wash their dishes, you shouldn’t have to live in poverty.

Of course, to reach millions more, Congress needs to get on board. Today, the federal minimum wage is worth about twenty percent less than it was when Ronald Reagan first stood here.  Tom Harkin and George Miller have a bill to fix that by lifting the minimum wage to $10.10.

This will help families.  It will give businesses customers with more money to spend.  It doesn’t involve any new bureaucratic program.  So join the rest of the country.  Say yes.  Give America a raise.

Considering that the great bulk of federal money provided to industry, education, and other local and state governmental agencies in the form of grants, contracts, etc. will now require those entities to lift the minimum wages beyond the local and state minimum wages. Those who compete for employees will have no choice but to counter this offer. It is possible that all suppliers of goods and services to the government will also be required to meet these standards. Even the big companies that supply goods to be sold in military base exchanges or used in social programs.

Potential government manipulation or confiscation of your money?

That’s why, tomorrow, I will direct the Treasury to create a new way for working Americans to start their own retirement savings: MyRA. It’s a new savings bond that encourages folks to build a nest egg.

MyRA guarantees a decent return with no risk of losing what you put in.  And if this Congress wants to help, work with me to fix an upside-down tax code that gives big tax breaks to help the wealthy save, but does little to nothing for middle-class Americans.

Offer every American access to an automatic IRA on the job, so they can save at work just like everyone in this chamber can.  And since the most important investment many families make is their home, send me legislation that protects taxpayers from footing the bill for a housing crisis ever again, and keeps the dream of homeownership alive for future generations of Americans.
  • You are putting your money in the hands of the government, with the potential for confiscation. You cannot trust a government that steals money from Social Security and Medicare to fund other projects and programs.
  • You are given a rate of interest that is an obligation of the American taxpayer, in essence you are paying the government a premium for allegedly keeping your money safe – because the government does not generate income, they merely redistribute the income of taxpayers. But anyone can plainly see, you can purchase tax-exempt government securities now – and the rate is manipulated by a government that refuses to tell you the truth about inflation.
  • And, let us not forget that government pensions are based on defined benefit – no matter what the cost or economic situation, while those in the private sector are based on defined contribution – where if there is no profit, there is no contribution.
Citizenship means standing up for the lives that gun violence steals from us each day.  I have seen the courage of parents, students, pastors, and police officers all over this country who say “we are not afraid,” and I intend to keep trying, with or without Congress, to help stop more tragedies from visiting innocent Americans in our movie theaters, shopping malls, or schools like Sandy Hook.

Is President Obama crazy? How does disarming legal and law-abiding Americans and creating a greater pool of potential victims make America and Americans safer? How does ignoring the danger posed by the progressive socialist democrat’s governance over the inner cities, reduce the danger from gangs that are little more than domestic terrorists?

When I took office, nearly 180,000 Americans were serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Today, all our troops are out of Iraq.  More than 60,000 of our troops have already come home from Afghanistan.  With Afghan forces now in the lead for their own security, our troops have moved to a support role. Together with our allies, we will complete our mission there by the end of this year, and America’s longest war will finally be over.

After 2014, we will support a unified Afghanistan as it takes responsibility for its own future.  If the Afghan government signs a security agreement that we have negotiated, a small force of Americans could remain in Afghanistan with NATO allies to carry out two narrow missions: training and assisting Afghan forces, and counterterrorism operations to pursue any remnants of al Qaeda.

Obama must be crazy. We left Iraq and it now appears to be under the influence of Iran, with the oil flowing to our enemies, rather than to the United States. If it was about oil, as the progressive socialist democrats claimed, where is the lessening of our energy requirements? As for the kleptocracy known as Afghanistan, how does telling the enemy you are leaving do anything but tell them they have won – just wait until the Americans leave so they can kill those who found with us side-by-side. Osama bin Laden is dead, but it appears that al Qaeda has grown stronger.

Closing Gitmo?

That’s why I’ve imposed prudent limits on the use of drones – for we will not be safer if people abroad believe we strike within their countries without regard for the consequence.  That’s why, working with this Congress, I will reform our surveillance programs – because the vital work of our intelligence community depends on public confidence, here and abroad, that the privacy of ordinary people is not being violated.  And with the Afghan war ending, this needs to be the year Congress lifts the remaining restrictions on detainee transfers and we close the prison at Guantanamo Bay – because we counter terrorism not just through intelligence and military action, but by remaining true to our Constitutional ideals, and setting an example for the rest of the world.

It is bad enough that Obama and his Attorney General, Eric Holder, believe in giving Constitutional rights to enemy combatants, but he also wants to bring terrorists into federal court and try them as they would criminals. War is not committed by criminals, but by enemy combatants that should have no rights other than those accorded to enemy combatants in a time of war.

Support for Israel?

American diplomacy, backed by the threat of force, is why Syria’s chemical weapons are being eliminated, and we will continue to work with the international community to usher in the future the Syrian people deserve – a future free of dictatorship, terror and fear. As we speak, American diplomacy is supporting Israelis and Palestinians as they engage in difficult but necessary talks to end the conflict there; to achieve dignity and an independent state for Palestinians, and lasting peace and security for the State of Israel – a Jewish state that knows America will always be at their side.

Historically, no peace is possible between peoples who have been mortal enemies for decades – made so more by Muslims teaching their children that Israel is the enemy. Even worse, when the Muslims are not attacking Jews, they are attacking their own people – believing the inter-sectarian warfare over who has the more legitimate version of Islam is religiously justified. How do you negotiate with someone who does not respect human life and where everyone’s duty is to preserve and enlarge the Islamic Caliphate without tolerance for any other ideology? Many of Obama’s closest associates are anti-Jew, so it is unbelievable that anyone should trust the continued existence of Israel to the man who prayed as a Muslim. In fact, the conversion of Barack Obama to Christianity marks him as an apostate – worse than an infidel in the eyes of the devout. In the final analysis, you cannot trust Obama and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats with the safety and security of our nation – or any other nation for that matter.

An example of a sound-good half-truth …

But the debate is settled. Climate change is a fact. (Applause.) And when our children's children look us in the eye and ask if we did all we could to leave them a safer, more stable world, with new sources of energy, I want us to be able to say yes, we did. (Cheers, applause.)

Nobody has ever disputed that the climate has changed historically, continues to change, and will change in the future. Notice how Obama ignores the real issue: to what degree does man contribute to climate change, and considering the tremendous forces involved, can man’s contribution to climate change actually be measured against the natural variability of climate? When a single volcano can emit enough particulate matter to cool the planet for two years, trying to combat the Sun’s energy output, deep ocean currents, volcanic activity by curbing our CO2 or use different light bulbs is ludicrous.

What more do you need to know?

Stripped of the political rhetoric, it’s  a political pep rally -- yada, yada, yada and “pen and phone and I am going it alone.”

  • Obama notes Americans are in pain.
  • Obama promises a solution. (at least for his political base)
  • Obama promises to take action unilaterally.

Unfortunately, as we have seen in the past five years, giving a TelePrompTered speech does not equate to effective action, nor does issuing vague orders to Congress. And, it remains a sad fact that the “pen and phone, going it alone’ can challenge the Constitution and lead to his impeachment.

The real issues …

  • Healthcare
  • Jobs
  • Energy
  • Education

Judge for yourself.

Bottom line …

President Obama and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats represent a clear and present danger to our nation. Especially, when President Obama threatens to further breach the Constitution and take unilateral, unconstitutional, and unlawful action to promote his radical policies.

The best defense against this soft tyranny is to remove progressive socialist democrats, especially those who are corrupt racists, from Congress and restore the constitutional checks and balances between the three branches of government as envisioned by our Founding Fathers.

If there was anything decent about Obama’s state of the union address, it was the acknowledgement of one of our soldiers, Sergeant First Class Cory Remsburg.

I first met Cory Remsburg, a proud Army Ranger, at Omaha Beach on the 65th anniversary of D-Day.  Along with some of his fellow Rangers, he walked me through the program – a strong, impressive young man, with an easy manner, sharp as a tack.  We joked around, and took pictures, and I told him to stay in touch. A few months later, on his tenth deployment,

Cory was nearly killed by a massive roadside bomb in Afghanistan. His comrades found him in a canal, face down, underwater, shrapnel in his brain.  For months, he lay in a coma.  The next time I met him, in the hospital, he couldn’t speak; he could barely move.  Over the years, he’s endured dozens of surgeries and procedures, and hours of grueling rehab every day.

Even now, Cory is still blind in one eye.  He still struggles on his left side.  But slowly, steadily, with the support of caregivers like his dad Craig, and the community around him, Cory has grown stronger. Day by day, he’s learned to speak again and stand again and walk again – and he’s working toward the day when he can serve his country again.

“My recovery has not been easy,” he says. “Nothing in life that’s worth anything is easy.”  Cory is here tonight.  And like the Army he loves, like the America he serves, Sergeant First Class Cory Remsburg never gives up, and he does not quit.  My fellow Americans, men and women like Cory remind us that America has never come easy.

Unfortunately, observing Obama and his interaction with the military, I do not believe that Cory means any more to Obama than as a prop to aid his political agenda. Obama has decimated our military leadership – removing strong leaders for minor and forgivable personal flaws. This is the man who just screwed wounded veterans out of their rightful pension increases. He is such an elitist and so damn disingenuous that he cannot even be believed when it comes to the simplest of human gestures.

The real danger of Obama and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats is that they believe they know what is best for you and since the ends (socialism) are beneficial to the masses, any means, fair or foul, are acceptable.

Can you trust the guy who promised you could keep your doctor, period!

Calling out the political thuggery of Obama and his progressive socialist democrat administration ...

Sometimes the work of another blogger, in this case Jim Lakely, resonates with me as a quintessential telling of the truth. Something quite uncommon in today’s progressive media. For those of you who are inclined to give President Obama the benefit of the doubt, based upon his telegenic presence and acting ability to read the spin-tested words of others from his TelePrompTer, perhaps it is time to take a hard look at President Obama and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats.

As a starting point, I suggest that you consider that President Obama is not a man of his word, lying about keeping your doctor and the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi. There is absolutely no wiggle-room here as videotape of the President lying to the American people can be found in a multiplicity of places. That the mainstream media favors a progressive socialist democrat agenda is also not in doubt.

But, the shocking news should be that the President and members of his Administration are openly – and contemptuously – abusing their Constitutional authority and destroying America from within with their ineffective and damaging public policies, both foreign and domestic.

Pretty much why Jim’s blog post resonates with me and should serve as a wakeup call to ALL Americans that are concerned with their country, economy, healthcare, and future standard of living.

The Unceasing Political Thuggery of Obama’s Gangster Government

In the run-up to the 2010 midterm elections, President Obama urged Latinos to “punish our enemies” — meaning anyone who stands in opposition to his agenda. The Obama administration has done its part fulfill that promise, maybe the only promise this president will ever keep.

Thursday night, prominent conservative Dinesh D’Souza — author of The Roots of Obama’s Rage and producer of the documentary 2016: Obama’s Americawas arrested on felony charges of violating campaign finance law. Obama’s Department of Justice seeking a $1 million fine and seven years in prison. This hard approach to “justice” stands in stark contrast to the way Obama’s DOJ handled a prominent Democratic donor who got off with a misdemeanor, a nominal fine, and two months in jail for doing the exact same thing.

What did D’Souza do? He is charged with making “straw donations” by asking friends to give a total of $20,000 to a 2012 U.S. Senate campaign in New York and then reimbursing them. If proven true, that is a violation of America’s Byzantine campaign finance laws, and D’Souza must face the consequences. But this case stinks to high heaven of selective prosecution of the president’s “enemies” — a long-standing pattern of this administration, which Michael Barone aptly dubbed America’s first “gangster government.”

D’Souza was trying to help out an old college friend, Wendy Long, who ran on the Republican ticket against incumbent Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand. Let’s be clear: Long’s campaign was nothing more than a ceremonial campaign so that someone represented the party on the ballot. She had no shot of taking out Gillibrand, who won with 72 percent of the vote to Long’s 27 percent. Furthermore, Gillibrand spent $14.2 million on her campaign to Long’s measly $742,000. Yet we’re supposed to believe that the feds caught D’Souza in their net after simply conducting “a routine review by the FBI of campaign filings with the FEC by various candidates after the 2012 election for United States Senator in New York.” And Gillibrand’s campaign — which collected and spent 1,800 percent more money — had zero sketchy contributions?

We are to believe that D’Souza’s status as one of the president’s sharpest and most-prominent critics had absolutely nothing to do with DOJ taking a sledgehammer to kill a gnat that over-contributed to a nuisance candidate an amount that probably matches the tip money for Gillibrand’s 2012 campaign luncheons? That is beyond absurd — especially in light of what the FBI and DOJ have found not worthy of any investigation, let alone indictment.

In 2012, the Obama re-election campaign’s online donation form did not require that the billing address match the card, or that the security code on the back be entered, or even that the state match the ZIP code. This allowed at least one British citizen to illegally contribute to Obama’s campaign, and likely many thousand more non-US citizens to do the same. (It is, again, an insult to our intelligence that the most tech-savvy campaign ever didn’t set up its donation page for that very purpose.)

In October 2012, the Federal Elections Commission announced that it identified more than $2 million in donations at Obama’s campaign website in which no ZIP codes were entered or the ZIP codes were incomplete — an error that requires the donation to be voided, and a feature that was in place on Romney’s campaign site. The FBI didn’t even have to do any “routine review” of the Obama campaign to take action on lawbreaking on a much greater scale than that alleged of D’Souza. Yet, it is merely a coincidence that no Obama campaign staffer or donor was investigated, let alone arrested?

Here are more coincidences we’re supposed to take at face value, and not as evidence of a corrupt Obama administration determined to “punish” the president’s “enemies”:

  • King Street Patriots founder Catherine Engelbrecht was investigated by the FBI, audited by the IRS, and also saw her spotless family business put under close scrutiny by the IRS, OSHA, and the ATF — all just months after she applied for nonprofit status for her “Truth the Vote” group to battle rampant election fraud. Among the information the IRS demanded was “every Facebook post and Tweet she had ever written,” detailed information about her family, and whether she or any of her relatives had ever run (or thought about running) for political office. Liberal members of Congress also publicly accused her of being part of a “criminal conspiracy” and demanded DOJ investigate.
  • The IRS systematically gave similar bureaucratic proctal exams to countless other Tea Party groups seeking nonprofit status — thus chilling the speech and political participation of right-leaning groups, but not those on the left.
  • The appointment by the Obama administration of a long-time campaign donor to “investigate” the IRS abuses, which resulted in an “investigation” that considered talking to the victims an afterthought.
  • An IRS, unchastened by the public exposure of its corruption, deciding to “legalize” its practice of chilling of non-leftist speech with a new rule that will establish a policy of harassing Tea Party groups while leaving unions and leftist outfits alone. According to this post at, not a single public comment about the rule (as of January 21) was in favor. I doubt something as insignificant to the IRS as the public will has a chance of stopping its plans.
  • The Obama administration and its Democratic allies in Congress sacrificing cherished spending priorities in 2014 to ensure the IRS could still institute its rule to put “Tea Party groups out of business” as the 2014 midterm elections approach.
  • An SWAT-team federal raid on Gibson Guitars — whose CEO is a Republican donor — for allegedly breaking the century-old and almost-never-enforced Lacey Act for using the same “illegal” wood its competitors use. (The executives of Gibson’s competitors, not subject to similar raids for that “crime,” happen to be big Democratic donors.)
  • Intense IRS scrutiny of the only conservative organization in Hollywood, “Friends of Abe,” which included a demand for a complete donor list — something the IRS does not typically ask for in a “routine” audit. Leftist Hollywood nonprofits, such as Norman Lear’s People for the American Way, have never cited cause to complain about similar IRS harassment.
  • The auditing of James O’Keefe and his Project Veritas, which exposed the genuine abuse of nonprofit status by the leftist ACORN — a group Obama worked with closely before he ran for political office. Now, out of the blue, the New York State Department of Labor has demanded O’Keefe appear before them with all his papers in order on Tuesday — including all “copies of Social Security returns, unemployment insurance (state and federal), check stubs and canceled checks, and any other records pertaining to payments for services.” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo wasn’t kidding, it appears, when he said conservatives are not welcome in “his” state.
  • Billionaire Frank VanderSloot, a decades-long big Republican donor, getting audited by the Obama’s IRS for the first time in his life after giving generously to the “Super PAC” of the Mitt Romney campaign. The Obama Labor Department was kind enough to follow up with an audit of all the workers on VanderSloot’s Idaho cattle ranch. Billionaire leftist George Soros — the “Daddy Warbucks” for countless left-leaning groups, creator of his own leftist nonprofits, and big donor to Democratic campaigns — has never had reason to complain about such scrutiny.
  • Conservative journalist Wayne Allen Root being audited twice by Obama’s IRS, and reporting that he personally knows of at least 15 people who were subject to IRS audits within 90 days of writing big checks to the Mitt Romney campaign. (Chilling detail: Root says the IRS agent who called him said he knew who he was, and knew that he served as a guest host for a conservative radio show.)
  • And while we’re talking about politicized “justice,” I must mention the fact that Obama’s DOJ has still refused to pursue criminal charges against global warming activist Peter Gleick. He publicly admitted to impersonating a director of The Heartland Institute via email, stealing Heartland’s confidential and private property (its budget and planning documents), and distributing them to leftist allies for the purpose of harassing Heartland donors. He has not yet copped to creating his own version of a Heartland “planning document,” anobviousfake, intended to defame the organization and distort the purpose of its work in climate science. A criminal trial that is not likely to happen — despite the open-and-shut case laid out to federal prosecutors by Heartland, as well as Gleick’s public confession — would do a lot to clarify that point. [Full background here.]

Are those examples enough to establish a pattern? To establish that these are not mere coincidences or “bad luck” on the part of conservatives and right-leaning groups? That there are countless more examples that are not publicly known?

Never in the history of this country have we seen such a broad and coordinated abuse of the government’s power to threaten criminal prosecution and ruin the lives and livelihoods of people the president and his party see as political “enemies.” None of the victims above did anything that even smelled like a criminal act act (except, perhaps, D’Souza) before the state came crashing down with the inevitable and purposeful result of ruining their lives. Their only “offense” was publicly opposing the president’s agenda, and putting those dissenters through the government's paces was the whole point.

As columnist Mark Steyn has often noted, the process is the punishment. Exercising your rights of free speech and free assembly will put you on “the list.” So think twice before daring to oppose the statist agenda. Don’t speak out. Obey … or else. The Obama administration’s intimidation tactics are encouraging the president’s powerful allies in Congress to join in even more heartily. This week, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) delivered a despicable, un-American speech to the leftist nonprofit Center for American Progress. He urged the IRS to “redouble” its intimidation tactics against the Tea Party, and anyone else who dares to “attack government” through peaceful political outreach and speech.

This should be the political scandal of the century — if only we had an honorable and competent MSM press corps in this country. Alas, it is more interested in Justin Bieber’s arrest. If President Obama deigns to give the MSM an audience for questioning, we are treated to gems such as “What is your New Year’s Resolution?” (Obama’s answer: Be nicer to the White House Press Corps!)

When George W. Bush was president, Hillary Clinton famously shouted:

I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.

But apparently not this administration. Hillary Clinton was right. But she and those who cheered her are nowhere to be found now that the sideshow of Dixie Chicks protests have been replaced by the infinitely more threatening governmental suppression of principled public dissent. Today, left-leaning America — as well as the constitutionally protected MSM — have no interest in standing up for the patriotic right to “debate and disagree” with the Chicago-style thuggery of the Obama administration. That is tragic for the cause of liberty, our politics, and our increasingly fragile republic.

Bottom line …

While I have little or no doubt that Republicans in the Bush Administration did similar things in terms of corruption and cronyism, you never, for even a minute, doubted former President Bush’s patriotism, love of country, or being strong enough to do what it takes to keep America and Americans safe. No apology tours, no aid and comfort to our “undeclared” enemies, no disavowal of our friends and allies. Yes, there was cronyism, secrecy, and a healthy dose of the type of incompetence that is found when campaign donors and former politicians are placed in leadership roles based on their contributions and support for the president or party. But, unlike the current President and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats, it was not malignant and threatened America or Americans. No nationalization of one-sixth of our economy using a legislative vehicle no one read, nor understood, before they cast their vote. No overtly hyper-partisan showdowns that locked 100% of the opposition out of being able to represent their constituency.

And, unless “We the People” are willing to remove these progressive socialist democrats from Congress and restore some semblance of constitutional checks and balances, America will continue her slide into progressive socialism. Progressive socialism where the misery is shared, scarcity is artificially created to insure political control, and wealth is re-distributed to other nations who do not wish America and Americans well. Unless we are willing to rise above our apathetic, celebrity worshiping sloth, we will reap what we sow: more corrupt and dysfunctional government. To the point that America becomes unrecognizable to those who fought, bled, and died to preserve our nation and our way of life.

To Jim Lakely, thanks for the opportunity to re-post this example of the thuggery of the Obama Administration. Even if some in the media have capitalized on the Seahawk’s Richard Sherman’s assertion that the use of the word “thug” can be likened to the n-word. A continuing meme that any criticism of President Obama and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats must be a racist attack. Another example that Obama’s policies, both foreign and domestic, cannot be justified or defended. That Obama himself believes that giving a speech is a solution to the problems plaguing the nation. And, that people are so apathetic or ignorant that they will overlook what the President and his Administration does in favor of what he says.

Folks, it is up to you. Stay strong. Stay informed. And, above all, be willing to fight for yourself, your family, your neighbors, your community, and your nation.

It appears that both President Obama and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta gave orders to do everything in our power for those stricken in Benghazi ... but that order was mishandled by General Carter Ham, who for reasons unknown, decided to send support to Tripoli and not Benghazi.

Ham was in overall command of military forces when the September 11, 2012 terrorist attacks were launched on the American consulate and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya. Congressman Trey Gowdy who led the Congressional investigation into the attacks stated that Carter Ham acknowledges that he altered President Obama and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's order to deploy to Benghazi to rescue American personnel, and redirected the deployment to Tripoli, Libya instead. <Source>

There is no doubt in my mind that I want the United States to have superiority over all foreign forces and a military that is second to none. But, I also have my doubts that the civilian leadership of our defense effort can be trusted. And make no mistake, by the time a colonel is given their first star, they are on the way to becoming a “finger-in-the-wind” politician.

The problem with Panetta and our President …

Leon Panetta, in my opinion, has always appeared to be a stand-up, no-nonsense type of guy. Right up until the congressional testimony of General Carter Ham that claimed that General Ham notified Leon Panetta that the 9/11 attack in Benghazi was the result of terrorists and that the President of the United States was told about the attack. That the President of the United States, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power told bald-faced lies to the American people about a spontaneous demonstration over a little-seen video speaks to their fundamental dishonesty and untrustworthiness. Even worse, while I can understand the need to preserve operational secrecy about a covert joint CIA/State Department mission, I would suggest that the best response was that the attack was classified to protect an ongoing operation would have sufficed, and even satisfied the progressive mainstream media that is politically biased in favor of the Obama Administration. And, beyond the lies, there is the matter of who in the chain of command told rescue forces to “stand down” and curtailed any rescue attempt.

Minutes after the American consulate in Benghazi came under assault on Sept. 11, 2012, the nation’s top civilian and uniformed defense officials — headed for a previously scheduled Oval Office session with President Obama — were informed that the event was a “terrorist attack,” declassified documents show. The new evidence raises the question of why the top military men, one of whom was a member of the president’s Cabinet, allowed him and other senior Obama administration officials to press a false narrative of the Benghazi attacks for two weeks afterward.

Gen. Carter Ham, who at the time was head of AFRICOM, the Defense Department combatant command with jurisdiction over Libya, told the House in classified testimony last year that it was him who broke the news about the unfolding situation in Benghazi to then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Gen. Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The tense briefing — in which it was already known that U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens had been targeted and had gone missing — occurred just before the two senior officials departed the Pentagon for their session with the commander in chief. <Source>

We have not heard the truth from President Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. Secretary Panetta was replaced with former Senator Chuck Hagel who appears less the trustworthy when it comes to standing up to the President and his cadre of progressive socialist democrats who have openly disparaged and disadvantaged our friends and allies while simultaneously providing some measure of aid and comfort to those who appear to be our enemies.

Pentagon Concerned by China’s New High-Speed Missile -- Hypersonic strike vehicle test is high-tech arms breakthrough that will be difficult for missile defenses to counter

China’s recent test of a new ultra-high speed strike vehicle highlights growing concerns that Chinese military advances will overtake those of the United States in as few as five years, a senior Pentagon official told Congress Tuesday.

Frank Kendall, undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology, and logistics, said during a House Armed Services Committee hearing that he is concerned by large-scale cuts in U.S. defense spending that are undermining efforts to maintain U.S. military superiority.

“On hypersonics, this is a good example of an area of technology that is going to move forward whether we invest in it or not,” Kendall told a hearing on the United States shift toward Asia. “China is doing work in this area.”  Read more at: Pentagon Concerned by China’s New High-Speed Missile | Washington Free Beacon

There is no reason that we should not continue to invest in military R&D, and demanding that weapon systems work as promised. Punishing those who submit lowball bids and earn egregious profits on the “change orders.” It is a time to demand that lobbying activities be reduced or restricted. To bring honesty to the procurement process. To give our soldiers a fighting chance if the technology fails and they find themselves on an unknown battlefield. In fact, the next real battle is one that will be fought by hackers on the battlefield of our economy. Where the infiltration of a fifth-column into the mainstream of American politics and our infrastructure is more effective that all of the ballistic missiles that will never be used. Where the use of our own laws against us – by the environmentalists infiltrated by socialists and communists will do more damage to our economy than any terrorist attack.

The problem with the Pentagon …

It appears that the leadership of the Pentagon are more interested in protecting their collective asses and feathering their personal nests rather than protecting the United States. How else can you explain the continuing warfare among the branches of the armed services for funding and scope of mission? How else can you explain the suspect relationship between the Pentagon, in reality, little more than the headquarters of the military-industrial complex, and the special interests and their intensive political lobbying operations. These are the people who allowed the United States Air Force to foist billion-dollar weapons systems on the Congress, lying about their cost, lying about their effectiveness – and lying about the capabilities of our weapons systems vis–à–vis the capabilities of our enemies.

In fact, if one were to review the biography of Colonel John Boyd, a colorful fighter pilot who developed ways to measure the effectiveness of aircraft, ours and theirs, and to predict the performance of future developments, you would see a perpetual war by the Pentagon, notably the United States Air Force, against truth-tellers and truth-telling. Here was a man virtually ignored by the Air Force, but feted by the United States Marine Corps – for his knowledge and ability to apply that knowledge to provide solutions to important military problems.

So, who is telling the truth in the Pentagon? Is the threat real? Sort of like Colonel Boyd discovering that the overly-hyped Soviet Backfire Bomber was just as crappy as our FB-111. Reliably quoted as having said, “The only good thing about the F-111," he said, "is that the dumbass Soviets believed our propaganda and built their very own piece of useless shit, the Backfire bomber.” Boyd was the one who discovered that the Army was fudging its testing of tanks – and thus putting American soldiers in extreme risk for being horribly maimed or killed, all apparently to keep dollars flowing to the contractors who provided campaign contributions to our political leaders on both sides of the aisle.

Bottom line …

We are living in a time when our political leadership appears to be progressive socialist democrat ideologues who are quick to blame the world’s problems on America and who appear to be doing everything in their power to weaken and disadvantage our military. They are joined in this effort by the internecine warfare in the military, where the results are destructive to both the military posture of the United States and our economy as they push unneeded weapons systems that serve to feather their own nests.

In these days of asymmetric warfare, it appears that we are less likely to use strategic weaponry except as a last resort and a deterrence based on the philosophy of mutually assured destruction. However, it times when the enemy has no face, no uniform, no country, and no massed troops – strategic weaponry is useless unless you are a suicidal dictator with little or no regard for human life. Coincidently, a position that has been exhibited by certain Muslim leaders.

And, as we have seen in recent years, force is projected by boots on the ground, supported by air – and even more importantly the ability to maintain supply lines without paying undue ransom to warlords and others who have their hand out for baksheesh.

What is needed is a political and military leadership that is not afraid of a strong military and the will to use force when and where necessary. A leadership not crippled by pansy-ass rules of engagement that put our own soldiers at risk to preserve the life of enemy civilians. A leadership not beholden to the defense contractors who have delivered a load of high-priced useless crap that is on the books, but virtually unusable. We need a political leadership that understands that technology is great – but it has significant disadvantages if you are unwilling to deploy it against the enemy or if it is not tailored to a specific mission. What is needed is a hard-headed officer corps that is willing to stand-up and put their careers on the line by saying, “Respectfully, you are full of shit!” We know these brave individuals will put their lives on the line in an instant to save their country and comrades, but they are fearful of speaking out or resigning due to the retribution they can expect from the military-industrial complex. We need more whistle-blowers willing to work within the system and not in the media.

But, most of all, what is needed is honest politicians. Not the mealy-mouthed progressive socialist democrats and their republican RINO counterparts who are weakening America in favor of international socialism and our enemies. Look at the suggested 2016 presidential candidacy of Hillary Clinton, a proven liar, a corrupt politician, and a thoroughly committed Marxist. Look at the suggested 2016 presidential candidacy of the republican candidate – if you can even find one!

We are so screwed.

Let’s start by removing the radical and corrupt progressive socialist democrats from Congress in the upcoming election. Restoring checks and balances to our government. Curtailing the appointment of ideological hyper-partisan judges who rubber-stamp clearly illegal and unconstitutional activities. Somehow we need to fight our way back to the middle where our military is strong, our economy booming, and those who continue to create functional illiterates in our school systems and a permanent underclass among our minorities are sent to the ashcan of history.

It’s in your hands.
