NSA SCANDAL: EDWARD SNOWDEN PLACES BIGGER TARGET ON HIS BACK

How stupid do you have to be to sign your own death warrant? Suggesting that there are encrypted files that will be useful to the enemies of the United States which will be released upon your death. Giving all of our enemies a chance to obtain valuable intelligence and damage the United States by killing you?

Greenwald: Snowden’s Files Are Out There if ‘Anything Happens’ to Him -- Snowden has shared encoded copies of all the documents he took so that they won’t disappear if he does, Glenn Greenwald tells Eli Lake.

As the U.S. government presses Moscow to extradite former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden, America’s most wanted leaker has a plan B. The former NSA systems administrator has already given encoded files containing an archive of the secrets he lifted from his old employer to several people. If anything happens to Snowden, the files will be unlocked.

Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist who Snowden first contacted in February, told The Daily Beast on Tuesday that Snowden “has taken extreme precautions to make sure many different people around the world have these archives to insure the stories will inevitably be published.” Greenwald added that the people in possession of these files “cannot access them yet because they are highly encrypted and they do not have the passwords.” But, Greenwald said, “if anything happens at all to Edward Snowden, he told me he has arranged for them to get access to the full archives.”

The fact that Snowden has made digital copies of the documents he accessed while working at the NSA poses a new challenge to the U.S. intelligence community that has scrambled in recent days to recover them and assess the full damage of the breach. Even if U.S. authorities catch up with Snowden and the four classified laptops the Guardian reported he brought with him to Hong Kong the secrets Snowden hopes to expose will still likely be published.

A former U.S. counterintelligence officer following the Snowden saga closely said his contacts inside the U.S. intelligence community “think Snowden has been planning this for years and has stashed files all over the Internet.” This source added, “At this point there is very little anyone can do about this.”

The arrangement to entrust encrypted archives of his files with others also sheds light on a cryptic statement Snowden made on June 17 during a live chat with The Guardian. In the online session he said, “All I can say right now is the U.S. government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me. Truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped.” Source: Greenwald: Snowden’s Files Are Out There if “Anything Happens” To Him - The Daily Beast

If you love freedom, why shelter in place in areas controlled by the enemies of the United States?

Snowden flees to Hong Kong, controlled by China, operated by a Communist government known for its intelligence activities in stealing U.S. military and commercial secrets. And, the Snowden apparently visits Russia, operated by a Communist government known for its intelligence activities in stealing U.S. military and commercial secrets.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden was still in the transit area of Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, was free to leave and should do so as soon as possible.

Putin told a news conference during a visit to Finland that he hoped the affair would not affect relations with Washington, which wants Russia to send him to the United States, but indicated Moscow would not hand him over.

"We can only hand over foreign citizens to countries with which we have an appropriate international agreement on the extradition of criminals," Putin said, adding that Snowden has committed no crime in Russia.

He dismissed U.S. accusations against Moscow over the case as "ravings and rubbish", saying that Russian security agencies had not worked with Snowden but added that he hoped the affair would not hurt relations with the United States. <Source>

Bottom line …

With all of their snooping abilities, will the NSA now inspect every encrypted file passing over the internet, using Snowden’s security breach as a cause célèbre? Is Snowden a plant, an NSA operative sent to provide disinformation to our enemies or to infect and map their intelligence systems?

One thing is sure, his appears to be confident, well-trained, articulate, and always on-message with no signs of emotion, the nervousness of a person who has just created havoc within his country.

Can’t wait to see how the story unfolds as there still is the possibility that Snowden is actually a whistleblower and pointing out that a bipartisan cabal has been using government offices to manipulate the broader government, the economy, and the citizens of the United States.
