Chris Christie FAILS first test of 2016 Presidential Race

The other day I wrote a blog post, “Chris Christie's First Presidential Test: Who will he appoint to replace Senator Frank Lautenberg?,” and it appears that CHRISTIE FAILED the test …

While Christie did not appoint a democrat to fill the vacant seat of the recently departed liberal Senator, Frank Lautenberg, her did something equally egregious. He appointed a RINO (Republican In Name Only), New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chisea. A rabid anti-gun anti-Second Amendment radical who has spearheaded the state’s gun buy-back program.

Attorney General Reminds Cumberland County Residents About Gun Buyback This Weekend, Safe Transport of Firearms

“As we all recognize, there are just too many firearms circulating out there and too many innocent people dying or being critically wounded,” Attorney General Chiesa said.   “I urge the residents of Cumberland County to join us in making communities safer by coming out the first weekend in June and selling back their firearms.”

“I would like to thank the Attorney General for bringing the Gun Buyback program to Cumberland County,” said Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae.   “I’d also like to thank our law enforcement and community partners.  Their collaborative support directly serves to make Cumberland County a stronger, safer place to live.“

Added Prosecutor Webb-McRae, “I encourage the public to spread the word about this very important program.  Every firearm that is turned in is a weapon that will never harm another by falling into the wrong hands.”

This weekend’s gun buyback – the seventh state-led “Guns for Cash” buyback event since last December -- is a cooperative effort involving the Attorney General’s Office, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the state Division of Criminal Justice, the New Jersey State Police in Bridgeton and Port Norris, the Vineland, Millville and Bridgeton police departments, and the faith-based community in Cumberland County.

And the progressive socialist democrats cheer the appointment …

New Senator Supports Program To Take ‘Lethal Weapons Out Of Circulation,’ Opposes Death Penalty

New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa (R), who Gov. Chris Christie (R) just announced will temporarily fill the U.S. Senate vacancy left by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), supports a gun buyback program that took thousands of guns off of New Jersey’s streets and he says that reinstating the death penalty in his state is not a “good idea.”

Chiesa indicated his opposition to the death penalty in an interview with New Jersey’s public media network. While the incoming senator explained that he supported the death penalty when he was younger, he now opposes it because “in the one instance where you’re not right about that, there’s no way in any way to remedy that decision and the consequences of administering that decision.”

Christie’s choice for the U.S. Senate is also a strong supporter of a gun buyback program, testifying before a state legislative committee that “gun buybacks are helping to make New Jersey safer, and because they’re paid for with criminal forfeiture funds, they don’t cost the taxpayers a penny.” The state’s buyback program, which Chiesa described as “a valuable part of a broader anti-gun-violence strategy,” netted 10,000 firearms as of last month.

The guns purchased in this anti-gun violence program are destroyed. As Chiesa explained, “[t]he weapons we take in are melted down. They can never be stolen and used in a street crime. They can never kill a curious child. They can never turn a traffic dispute into a tragedy, and they can never claim the life of one of our brave police officers.”

He added that “[i]t is sobering to contemplate the amount of lethal firepower that’s out there in our communities just waiting to fall into the wrong hands.”

And, they can never be used to save the life of a senior citizen confronting a stronger, well-armed intruder, protect a mother with a child crouching in fear of being robbed and raped, and they can never be used by a spouse about to be battered by their mate, or keep someone from committing an egregious crime.

While I deplore the number of guns in the hands of criminals and crazies, I am not so damn stupid as to want to disarm the law-abiding citizens of this nation AND CREATE A LARGER POOL OF POTENTIAL VICTIMS. People who will be killed while others wait for the “authorities” to arrive. People who will be forced to cower in fear, whimpering and begging as an armed assailant picks and chooses their victims … or perhaps people who are destined to be killed because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnessed a crime being committed.

Bottom line …

While Chris Christie’s outspokenness may be attractive to the rebel in us, he is not speaking truth to power, he is the power. He is an establishment attorney who supports the rights of unions to collectively bargain and threaten further corruption of the political system. He has proven he has no compunction to jump across the political divide, like a larger John McCain or Lindsay Graham when it suits his self-serving political purpose.

Christie is not an ideologue, he is a pragmatist willing to say or do anything to obtain or maintain his political power. The fact that he is popular is not a reason to vote him into the highest office in the nation. I am a single issue voter – upholding the Constitution of the United States – and nowhere in the Constitution does it say it is a suicide pact to allow our enemies, both foreign and domestic, to run wild in our streets without providing Americans with a means for self-survival or to protect their loved ones. Or, for that matter, to resist government tyranny should the progressives continue to destroy America from within.
