Benghazi: The Obama swamp just gets deeper and deeper ...

The closer we come to Congressional hearings on Benghazi, the more ambivalent I become …

  1. I believe the members of the Obama Administration, including the President himself, deliberately lied to the American public about the 9/11 attack on our facility in Benghazi, Libya for political purposes prior to a presidential election. President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, and others had access to classified real-time intelligence indicating that the 9/11 attack which left Ambassador Stevens and three other people dead and an unknown number injured was not caused by a protest over a little-seen anti-Islamic  video.
  2. We have some indication that the primary attack was not on a consulate, but a U.S. facility supporting a joint CIA/State Department covert operation.
  3. We have some indication that our Ambassador and this and other facilities may have been involved in transferring or arranging access to military-grade weaponry that was ultimately destined to Islamic jihadists who were fighting in Egypt and Syria.

Instead of claiming that there was an ongoing covert operation, the details of which could not be made public due to security and safety considerations, something that would have been forgiven by the American public, the Administration blatantly lied to Congress and the American people.

I can understand how the Obama Administration might be extremely embarrassed about a foreign gun-running operation to the contras in light of the “Fast and Furious” gun-walking debacle and its ongoing cover-up from Congress and the American people. An ongoing affair that saw Attorney General Eric Holder cited for Contempt of Congress. But, unless there is specific and credible evidence of criminal wrongdoing by members of the Obama Administration or its agencies, there is no reason to keep information from Congress.

The ambivalence comes from not wanting to jeopardize ongoing CIA covert operations that have a significant impact on our positions in the Middle East.

As the Benghazi hearings approach, it is disturbing and disconcerting to hear …

Benghazi Whistleblowers Were Threatened By Obama Administration

America has been demanding answers in the Benghazi cover-up and it seems we may be getting closer to the truth as Benghazi whistleblowers are coming forward and talking to Congress. It has now been reported that at least four career officials, at the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), have retained attorneys, as Rep. Darrell Issa suggested they do, as they prepare to provide sensitive information to Congress regarding the September 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya. Reports are coming forth that some of these witness are being threatened by Barack Obama’s administration officials.

“Some witnesses may be required to retain personal counsel to represent them before the committee and in the event the agency subsequently retaliates against them for cooperating with the committee’s investigation,” Issa wrote to the CIA and other government officials on Wednesday of last week.  “Additional witnesses may be compelled by subpoena to give testimony to the committee and can be reasonably expected to retain personal counsel at that time,” he added. <Source>

Credible threats?

Fox News reports …

At least four career officials at the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency have retained lawyers or are in the process of doing so, as they prepare to provide sensitive information about the Benghazi attacks to Congress, Fox News has learned.

Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official and Republican counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, is now representing one of the State Department employees. She told Fox News her client and some of the others, who consider themselves whistle-blowers, have been threatened by unnamed Obama administration officials.

“I'm not talking generally, I'm talking specifically about Benghazi – that people have been threatened,” Toensing said in an interview Monday. “And not just the State Department. People have been threatened at the CIA.”   <Source>

Bottom line …

So much of the Obama Administration is a lie: starting with their statement about being the most ethical, open and honest Administration and without being influenced by special interest lobbyists. If the Administration is found to have committed illegal acts, Obama should be impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate. With the rest of the agency heads and operatives being fined or jailed for their part in any illegal actions

Nothing will bring the dead back to life, but at least the American public can better understand their sacrifice if the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, is known. .
