A multiple choice question: Why are Obama’s fellow travelers leaving public office?
( A ) They have fallen on their swords to deflect attention and blame away from Obama and his public policies.
( B ) They have been discovered doing something that is, or appears to be, inappropriate, illegal or self-serving.
( C ) They are leaving office as part of an undisclosed settlement with prosecutors who may be forced to pursue criminal charges.
( D ) They want to make money by serving as lobbyists, power-brokers or consultants to wealthy corporations or individuals.
( E ) They want to capitalize on their position in order to secure more permanent employment before people find out their involvement in political corruption.
( F ) Perhaps their incompetence will not be splashed over the pages and airwaves of the mainstream media when the feeding frenzy to prove journalists have ethics becomes mandatory.
( G ) They want to run for another political office.
( H ) Some combination of the above.
The latest failure to resign, Steven Chu …
There is little or no doubt that Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, is a smart man in his chosen field of physics, complete with a real (as opposed to Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize) Nobel Prize. But, when it comes to politics, Chu is both ignorant and incompetent. I say that, because I would hate to say that Chu is totally and thoroughly corrupt.
Chu is the man who supported and promoted the Solyndra loan, even against misgivings from his own administration’s technical and economic experts. Chu is the man who sat idly by while others denigrated and demonized reliable, sustainable, cost-effective nuclear energy in favor of costly, unreliable and unsustainable wind and solar power. Watching the coal-fired energy plants, the backbone of U.S. energy production, were closed on the basis of demonized carbon dioxide and the specious hypothesis of anthropogenic global warming.
Here is a well-credentialed scientist who apparently pretends he never heard of Henry’s Law – and could not manage to bring himself to call bullshit on global warming when the observational facts and science were clear. (1) The Earth had been hotter, colder, with more atmospheric carbon dioxide and with less carbon dioxide, before man’s contribution following the industrial revolution. (2) The rise in temperature lags the rise in atmospheric carbon dioxide by 600 to 1,000 years (depending on the dataset used) and therefore cannot be a substantial causal factor. (3) The rise in carbon dioxide can be simply explained by the outgassing of carbon dioxide dissolved in the oceans to the atmosphere as the oceans warm. (Experimentally proven by opening a cold beer on a warm day) (4) That global warming would be expected as natural as the Earth emerged from the Little Ice Age. (5) That the significant drivers of global climate and weather were beyond man’s ability to influence. Namely, the Sun, the Earth’s distance from the Sun, the Earth’s rotational dynamics, the Earth’s tectonic plate activity and vulcanology, deep ocean currents and the largest greenhouse gas of all, water vapor.
Other departures involve Lisa Jackson, the corrupt hyper-political head of the Environmental Protection Agency; Ken Salazar, Secretary of the Interior; and, Jane Lubchenco of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), the home of politically-massaged research, statistics and data.
But the disaster in the Department of Energy is about to get worse and more political …
It is said that some of the potential replacements for Secretary Chu include disreputable liberal political hacks such as Byron Dorgan (ND), Jennifer Granholm (MI), and, worst of all, Christine Gregoire (WA).
Bottom line …
The joke is on America as Barack Obama fetes Chu’s accomplishments, claiming that Secretary Chu brought a “unique understanding of both the urgent challenge presented by climate change and the tremendous opportunity that clean energy represents for our economy.” Or, the even bigger lie – about helping America toward energy independence. Something that the democrats have been continually fighting as they squander BILLIONS of dollars in tax money for ineffective, unrealistic and corruption-riddled energy projects.
I am afraid the corruption and decline of America will continue under the democrats and their sycophantic GOP supporters until the average citizen wakes up. Let us hope that the awakening occurs before it is at the point of a tyrannical ruler’s gun.
