Why uninformed liberals are dangerous to freedom: James Taylor on gun control: 'We need to make some sacrifice to our freedoms'

Here is a celebrity who openly admits he does not know the facts, but suggests that Americans need to make some sacrifices to our freedoms to protect children …

He appears to be thoughtful, respectful of the President and certainly not a zealot or wing-nut … and yet he is suggesting that Americans give up some portion of their freedoms – won with the blood and treasure of Americans over the years and safeguarded by present-day Americans – to protect children. Even though, mass shootings of children are extremely rare events and that most of the children killed with guns were victims of criminal activity, suicide or stupid accidents.

  • You do not hear anything about demanding that the democrats who govern the inner cities do something about the drug and gang activitiy which leads to the great majority of the shooting deaths.
  • You do not hear anything about the discussion that those cities with strict gun control laws, appear to have the highest crime, drug and murder rates.
  • You do not hear anything about the drugs being dispensed to children like candy by psychologists who believe boys in school should adopt the demeanor of obedient girls.
  • You do not hear anything about black fathers being responsible for their numerous children with different women – and being a role model to prevent gun-related tragedies.
  • You do not hear anything about democrats providing employment in the inner cities other than government jobs. And in some cases, supporting the unions who lobby politically-connected zoning officials to deny permits unless the company is “organized” and part of a union.
  • And, you certainly do not hear about personal responsibility – when the politicians are making excuses for their minority political base and claiming it is a societal issue.

All leading to the nonsensical disarming of law-abiding citizens to create a larger victim pool.

And he is not an informed and unbiased observer …

“Taylor performed during a concert in Obama’s honor at the Lincoln Memorial before his first inauguration in 2009, and sang onstage during the Democratic National Convention in September 2012. Obama presented Taylor with a National Medal of Arts, the highest award given to artists and arts patrons by the United States Government, in 2011.”

In his own words …

“I think that the nation really is very divided on gun control, but I think the majority of us feel strongly -- even the majority of gun owners feel strongly --  that we need to make some sacrifice to our freedoms, if that’s the way to put it. We need to make some sacrifices to what we might want to have, in order to safeguard our children.”

Addressing the issue of gun control, singer-songwriter James Taylor told The Daily Caller that Americans “need to make some sacrifice[s] to our freedoms” in order to keep children safe.

“I think there’s a limit to how much — I think the founding fathers wanted us to be able to arm ourselves, but I don’t think that they would have agreed that we should have the capacity to do the damage that we do have. And we just can’t afford it.”

Taylor told TheDC that he supports the president and sees him as a strong leader.

I love this president for so many reasons,” he said. “I think he’s a true public servant. An amazingly capable and compassionate and intelligent man and a very level-headed citizen.”

I just think we need more like him — not that there’s anyone else like him — but I think it’s great that we have him in government. We are very fortunate to have Barack Obama as our leader.”

TheDC also asked Taylor if he agreed with President Obama’s decision to extend many of former President George W. Bush’s policies, including the War in Afghanistan, keeping the Guantanamo Bay prison open and re-authorizing the Patriot Act.

I wouldn’t second-guess the president, or pretend for a second that I know better than he does,” Taylor said. “He has the information and I trust him to make those important decisions for us. That’s what it means to have faith in a leader.”

Here is a man with a bias – feted by President Obama as a great American – what do you expect him to say. Of course, Taylor and the rest of the world know little about President Obama other than his socialist/communist friends and the fact that his supporters spend millions of dollars to hide his true identity and the personal papers that would resolve the issue of his eligibility once and for all.

Bottom line …

Barack Obama is the Manchurian Candidate – fed TelePrompTered speeches and fronting for his radical socialist advisors. When it comes to true governance, he has done little more than re-name and re-define former President Bush’s policies. And, what his Administration has done with foreign and domestic policy is either inept or anti-American.
