WHY DID OBAMA'S DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE BACK OFF LANCE ARMSTRONG?
We have heard a number of things about Eric Holder’s Department of Justice. Among them, incompetence, malfeasance, and sometimes rumors of rank partisanship. So we were wondering, what was it that made the Department of Justice drop their lawsuit? Especially since a non-profit, non-governmental agency known as USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) managed to put together a compelling case, including testimony from Armstrong’s associates.

U.S. Attorney Closes Investigation of Professional Cycling TeamFebruary 3, 2012 LOS ANGELES – United States Attorney André Birotte Jr. today announced that his office is closing an investigation into allegations of federal criminal conduct by members and associates of a professional bicycle racing team owned in part by Lance Armstrong. The United States Attorney determined that a public announcement concerning the closing of the investigation was warranted by numerous reports about the investigation in media outlets around the world. Mr. Birotte commended the joint investigative efforts of his prosecutors and special agents with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Postal Service - Office of the Inspector General. |
Bottom line …
The American public is due an answer to why the United States Department of Justice did not pursue justice in the Lance Armstrong matter. Why did a multi-million dollar, multi-year, multi-agency effort simply stop? Did the Inspector General for the United States Postal Service discover something that was politically unacceptable? What about what the FBI found during the course of their investigation?
Was the American public short-changed once again by a Justice Department who feels that it does not have to answer to the public? When pressed, will Barack Obama exert executive privilege over documents relating to Lance Armstrong as was improperly done (without specific reasons for each document sought by Congress) in the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal?
