PUBLIC EMPLOYEE UNIONS MUST BE OUTLAWED TO PREVENT POLITICAL CORRUPTION

Once again, we see the public employee unions attempting to legally bribe politicians with promises of campaign support for future “quid pro quo” deals that disadvantage the taxpayers and residents.

According to the Los Angeles Times …

Labor leaders have plans of their own. Working Californians, a political action committee tied to the union that represents Department of Water and Power employees, has announced plans for an independent spending campaign on behalf of four council candidates. Last year, the DWP union spent $527,000 in just one race, the election to replace Councilwoman Janice Hahn. More than a third went to the man who ultimately won, Joe Buscaino, records show.

The Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, looking to extend its City Hall influence, is backing seven candidates. One goal for the county labor group is to secure an ordinance requiring large hotels across Los Angeles to pay a "living wage." It also wants city leaders to spend more on renewable energy — wind, solar and geothermal power — and impose new regulations on commercial trash companies, from the types of trucks they use to how much their employees earn. The federation is looking to bring four more state lawmakers to the council, for a total of seven representatives who previously served in Sacramento — more than at any time in city history. "Los Angeles needs a council that will have the courage to move forward with initiatives that benefits workers," said Maria Elena Durazo, the federation's top official, in a statement.

The socialist unions are a clear and present danger to Los Angeles, California and the nation as the support continuing corruption of public officials, demand sweetheart deals – wages, benefits and pensions that are bankrupting municipalities and states – as well as supporting an unlawful illegal alien invasion to confer economic, social and political advantages to a foreign sovereign power.

Bottom line …

Enough is enough. Unions have now corrupted the political process and should be eliminated from organizing public employees. They have destroyed education, increased taxes and reduced services.

A DOSE OF REALITY: OBAMA AND HIS FELLOW TRAVELERS ARE SMALL, SMALL PEOPLE

As I wrote today’s tribute to the Space Shuttle Challenger crew, I couldn’t help but think of those who loved the United States, mankind, and pushed forward so that we may know our planet and the stars beyond. People willing to sacrifice everything for a noble achievement that benefits all. Backed by thousands of employees with pride in their nation and their assistance in moving mankind forward into space.

And, I couldn’t help but think of President Barack Obama, Joseph Biden, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner and all of the other politicians who claim credit for great things by virtue of funding them with the taxpayer’s money. Whose names are placed on schools, public buildings and other infrastructure in remembrance of their political activities in the same manner that former Vice President claimed credit for inventing (or at least funding) the Internet. As if Jon Postal, Vint Cerf, Tim Berners-Lee and many, many others didn’t exist.

I couldn’t help but think of the day when astronaut Charlie Bolden, the Director of NASA, explained to Al-Jazeera that one of his "foremost" tasks was to reach out to the Muslim world.

"When I became the NASA administrator, (President Obama) charged me with three things," Bolden said in the interview which aired last week. "One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math and engineering."

I was unaware that the United States space program included feel-good self-esteem conditioning for foreign people who contributed virtually nothing to the world in modern times other than chaos and terrorism.

I am embarrassed that we are paying Russia $43.4 MILLION for each astronaut ferried to the International Space Station. (up to $63 MILLION in 2016) while NASA slowly cripples America’s space capabilities and flushes talented people into unwanted retirement.

And if NASA wants to claim credit for anything other than funding JPL's exploration of MARS, remember it is the politicians who are talking.

Take a moment and remember those aboard the Challenger on its last flight.

Remember those who are fighting in foreign lands to keep the United States safe and secure.

And, ask yourself, if any politician is worth supporting today.

STEVE KROFT THROWS 60 MINUTES INTERVIEW WITH BARACK OBAMA AND HILLARY CLINTON

Once again, the mainstream media fails to ask hardball questions as infotainment becomes the modus operandi of the working press …

Here is a portion of the 60 minutes transcript that proves that 60 Minutes is no longer the journalistic powerhouse it was with Mike Wallace.

When we come back, the President and Secretary Clinton discuss the disaster in Benghazi and the state of her health.

Hillary Clinton's final days as secretary of state included one of her most difficult. On Wednesday, she spent more than five hours being grilled on Capitol Hill for the security failures in Benghazi that led to the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans; the biggest diplomatic disaster of this administration. The Accountability Review led by Admiral Mike Mullen and Ambassador Thomas Pickering found, among many failures, that Stevens' repeated requests for better security never made it to Clinton's desk. And representatives and senators pressed her on whether the administration covered up the nature of the terrorist attack.

[Secretary Clinton: We have four dead Americans, was it because of a protest or was it because of guys going out for a walk and deciding they'll go kill some Americans. What difference-- at this point, what difference does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from happening again, senator.]

Steve Kroft: I want to talk about the hearings this week. You had a very long day. Also, how is your health?

Secretary Clinton: Oh, it's great. It's great. Now, you know, I still have some lingering effects from falling on my head and having the blood clot. But, you know, the doctors tell me that that will all recede. And so thankfully I'm, you know, looking forward to being at full speed.

Steve Kroft: Right, I noticed your glasses are--

Secretary Clinton: Yeah, I have some lingering effects from the concussion that are decreasing and will disappear. But I have a lot of sympathy now when I pick up the paper and read about an athlete or one of our soldiers whose had traumatic brain injury. I'd never had anything like that in my family. And so, you know, I'm very conscious of how lucky I was.

Steve Kroft: You said during the hearings, I mean, you've accepted responsibility. You've accepted the very critical findings of Admiral Mullen and Ambassador Pickering.

As the New York Times put it, you accepted responsibility, but not blame. Do you feel guilty in any way, in-- at a personal level? Do you blame yourself that you didn't know or that you should have known?

Secretary Clinton: Well, Steve, obviously, I deeply regret what happened, as I've said many times. I knew Chris Stevens. I sent him there originally. It was a great personal loss to lose him and three other brave Americans. But I also have looked back and tried to figure out what we could do so that nobody, insofar is possible, would be in this position again. And as the Accountability Review Board pointed out, we did fix responsibility appropriately. And we're taking steps to implement that. But we also live in a dangerous world. And, you know, the people I'm proud to serve and work with in our diplomatic and development personnel ranks, they know it's a dangerous and risky world. We just have to do everything we can to try to make it as secure as possible for them.

Source: Obama and Clinton: The 60 Minutes interview - CBS News

What does “accepting responsibility” mean when we find that the State Department people who were alleged to be punish are still employed and apparently continuing their existing work?

During Wednesday’s House hearing on Benghazi, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) pressed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to explain why the four State Department employees cited for leadership failures prior to the attack were only placed on administrative leave and not fired.

“First, all four individuals have been removed from their jobs,” Clinton began. “Secondly, they have been placed on administrative leave. Thirdly, Ambassador Pickering and Admiral Mullen highlighted the reason why this has been so complicated. Under federal statute and regulations, unsatisfactory leadership is not grounds for finding a breach of duty.” <Source>

What “breach of duty?” How about malfeasance and the responsibility for the unnecessary loss of life of American citizens?

Benghazi penalties are bogus

The four officials supposedly out of jobs because of their blunders in the run-up to the deadly Benghazi terror attack remain on the State Department payroll — and will all be back to work soon, The Post has learned. The highest-ranking official caught up in the scandal, Assistant Secretary of State Eric Boswell, has not “resigned” from government service, as officials said last week. He is just switching desks. And the other three are simply on administrative leave and are expected back.

The four were made out to be sacrificial lambs in the wake of a scathing report issued last week that found that the US compound in Benghazi, Libya, was left vulnerable to attack because of “grossly inadequate” security.

State Department leaders “didn’t come clean about Benghazi and now they’re not coming clean about these staff changes,” a source close to the situation told The Post., adding, the “public would be outraged over this.”

Blah, blah, blah …

Kroft failed to ask simple questions which would have had probative news value.

  • Why was Ambassador Stevens in Benghazi on 9/11 after having asked for additional security and noting the inherent danger on the anniversary of 9/11?
  • Why was the outpost classified as a “consulate” when it appeared to be under the control of the CIA?
  • Mr. President, why did you continue to pursue the story about a “video protest” after the basic facts were known by the military, the CIA and the State Department; and Madame Secretary, why did you continue to repeat these obvious falsehoods?
  • Was the United States complicit in providing heavy military weaponry to people who could be considered terrorists?
  • Is it possible that the Administration refuses to investigate the matter fully and seek justice because Iran might be involved?

And, there are a number of additional “Mike Wallace” type questions that Kroft could have asked.

Bottom line …

The American people have been betrayed by the mainstream media which no longer seeks to speak truth to power, but to kiss ass in return for a ratings-making interview.

The cover-up continues and the mainstream media is giving them a pass. And, if anyone watched our so-called congressional leadership on CSPAN – they were more into speechifying and asking questions which were not timely, probing or accurate. The whole bunch of these representatives of “We the People” should not be reelected for: one, failing their oath of office, and two, for being corruptly stupid.

I am no longer sure that part of the government is not blackmailing another part of the government as was alleged to have been done under FBI Director Hoover – the ultimate keeper of “official” dirty secrets involving legislators.

GUN CONTROL: ANOTHER OBAMA LIE TRUMPETED BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA?

Apparently the mainstream media is so stupid as to practice censorship of convenience … promoting those stories which fit Obama’s toxic agenda without critical question or comment. Obama and his fellow travelers lie to the American public and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has the gall to suggest that at this point in time – after stalling, obfuscating and lying – it really doesn’t matter. Yes it does! When our elected officials lie to America and the mainstream media gives them a pass … our freedom is in jeopardy!

Thanks to Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Matt Drudge and others, the hypocrisy of the Presidency and the mainstream media is exposed for all to see. Truly, the emperor has no clothes!

Apple defined by purloined mantra?

As a retired data processor with extensive experience with IBM computers, I couldn’t help but laugh at the background picture hanging on the cubicle overhead cabinet behind Ashton Kutcher who is portraying Steve Jobs …

ak1

Like so much intellectual property that originated with others, especially Xerox’s PARC (Palo Alto Research Center), “Think” was the mantra made famous by IBM. I had desktop think signs in IBM blue, and then later in Red.

think

While Apple has its successes, let us not forget that its key uses on the desktop, spreadsheets and desktop publishing, came with third-party software innovation from outside of Apple. And that it did not and does not represent a significant portion of the marketplace. (Except for being wildly profitable) And that Job’s vaunted taste somehow bypassed the user interface on iTunes. Personally, I considered  Jobs to be a quirky, ill-tempered manager with an extremely confrontational style – taking media credit for the work others performed in the background.

Whatever Apple was or is, and whatever legacy was left by Steve Jobs, he did not deserve to be portrayed by a third-rate actor – personable as he may be – who seemed somehow to diminish both Jobs and Apple. I am not an Jobs’ fanboy, preferring the humble genius  and humanity of co-founder Steve Wozniak, to Jobs’ despotic personality.

It was Wozniak who wanted to bring computers to the world, not Steve Jobs -- all Jobs cared about was money and turning Woz's creations into businesses.

Unfortunately, in the end, Jobs was done in by his own arrogance – believing that his will and hippy-dippy cure for cancer was more powerful than modern medicine. There is no doubt that he was one of the seminal leaders in desktop computing and consumer electronics, but I wonder if his “genius” will continued to be recognized a hundred years from now.

Gun Control: Any GOP compromise with Obama is selling out the Constitution and a deal with the devil! Gang control before Gun Control!

Obama’s “Salami” politics …

Salami tactics, also known as the salami-slice strategy, is a divide and conquer process of threats and alliances used to overcome opposition. With it, an aggressor can influence and eventually dominate a landscape, typically political, piece by piece. In this fashion, the opposition is eliminated "slice by slice" until one realizes (too late) that it's gone in its entirety. In some cases it includes the creation of several factions within the opposing political party and then dismantling that party from the inside, without causing the "sliced" sides to protest. Salami tactics are most likely to succeed when the perpetrators keep their true long-term motives hidden and maintain a posture of cooperativeness and helpfulness while engaged in the intended gradual subversion. <Source>

Any compromise with the democrats on gun control is not a victory for the GOP or the people of America, but just another delay in the achievement of the democrat’s goal: dismantling the Constitution, including the elimination of the Second Amendment and the curtailment of the First Amendment …

Obama suggests Republicans unwilling to compromise in gun control debate

President Obama is suggesting that House Republicans on the issue of gun control appear neither willing to work with him nor listen to the American public on the issue.

While citizens are entitled to their own opinion on the Second Amendment, it should be an informed opinion and not an opinion fashioned by socialists and communists who represent a clear and present danger to our Constitution from our enemies, both foreign and domestic. What rhetoric and political pressure can be exerted on politicians to make them sellout their country and constituency without applying the designation “traitor” to their behavior?

“The House Republican majority is made up mostly of members who are in sharply gerrymandered districts that are very safely Republican and may not feel compelled to pay attention to broad-based public opinion, because what they're really concerned about is the opinions of their specific Republican constituencies,” the president said in an interview with The New Republic.

Obama also said he can get 50 percent of public support for many of his upcoming initiatives, but “I can't get enough votes out of the House of Representatives to actually get something passed. … I think there is still shock on the part of some in the party that I won re-election.”

The president said he has a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that date back for generations. He said that moving forward on the topic means understanding that the realities of guns in urban areas are very different from the realities of guns in rural areas.

If the President were an honest broker, he would be cracking down on minority gangs and drug dealers in democrat-controlled areas …

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting and everything to do with preserving your God-given freedoms. The Second Amendment merely acknowledges those God-given freedoms to self-defense and does serve as the source of those freedoms.

Yes, if the President were an honest broker representing “We the People,” he would note that the realities of guns in urban areas mostly involve his core constituency, the minorities, in democrat-controlled areas with strict gun control already in place. And, that rather than point out that most of the gun-related violence is the result of law enforcement activity or the work of gang turf and drug operations, he points to a relatively few children and demands that the majority of law-abiding citizens be denied “adequate and effective” weapons to protect themselves against a rising criminal population – and according to the Second Amendment, tyrannical actions of an increasingly repressive government.

And, as for the necessity of anyone to own a so-called assault rifle, in reality a semi-automatic weapon with a clip larger that ten rounds, let us consider someone facing a raging mob after a natural disaster or civil insurrection with a pea shooter. There are situations that call for rapid-fire, high-capacity weaponry – and those situations were recently seen in racially-motivated riots and when law enforcement abandoned their post in a natural disaster – some in law enforcement becoming the “enemy of the people” as they shot and killed innocent and defenseless citizens.

He said it's understandable that people are protective of their family traditions when it comes to hunting so “gun-control advocates also need to do “a little more listening than they do sometimes” in the debate.

Not protective of their family traditions – but protective of themselves, their families and their neighbors.

Obama also said one of the biggest factors in the gun-control debate will be how it is shaped by the media.

“If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News or by Rush Limbaugh for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you’ll see more of them doing it,” he said. “I think John Boehner genuinely wanted to get a deal done, but it was hard to do in part because his caucus is more conservative probably than most Republican leaders are, and partly because he is vulnerable to attack for compromising Republican principles and working with Obama.”

The president argued  that “the more left-leaning media outlets recognize that compromise is not a dirty word” and that party leaders, including Senate Majority Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, are “willing to buck the more absolutist-wing elements in our party to try to get stuff done.” Source: Obama suggests Republicans unwilling to compromise in gun control debate | Fox News

With the majority of the mainstream media in the tank for President Obama and his fellow travelers, only a courageous few are willing to stand up and tell the world that not only does the emperor have no clothes, but that he is a malignant lying socialist who wants to fundamentally transform America into a socialist democracy with a permanent democrat ruling class.

And yes, the word “compromise” is a dirty word – a treasonous word – when it refers to the elimination and/or reduction of your ability to protect yourself or your family from crazies or criminals that roam our nation at will.

Bottom line …

The fight against Obama and his fellow travelers is an existential battle. We are losing our freedoms, slice-by-slice, under Congressional legislation, under the President’s executive orders, under the Administration’s rules and regulations, and under an activist judiciary that routinely usurps the sole lawmaking power of Congress to put for “bright line” rules.

It is time to recognize that those who kill children or engage in mass murder are mentally-ill – not something that can be cured by disarming the law-abiding citizens who are on the scene and can neutralize the threat or mitigate the damage. Most of the mass killings have been in “gun-free” zones. When mass murder was attempted elsewhere, it was not a case of mass murder, because the threat was neutralized before the body count could rise.

It is time to recognize that much of the gun death that Obama deplores actually occurs in democrat-controlled inner cities with gang-related gunplay responsible for killing themselves and innocent bystanders. Perhaps the gun statistics should be re-calculated with breakouts for minority-based crime (a racist thought according to the democrats) and gun-crime in democrat controlled areas with strict gun control. Then replace the corrupt governing officials and unionized law enforcement in those areas.

If Obama was serious about crime, how about dealing with the gangs before guns.

Obama's class warfare breaks out in Dianne Feinstein's Compton, California (Blacks versus Latinos)

For all of the Blacks that believed Obama’s socialist class warfare bullpucky …

It is one thing to lie to the American public, to attempt to disarm law-abiding Americans who are facing criminals and crazies, and to provide guns to Mexican drug cartels and terrorists in Benghazi, but it is a far different matter to allow minority gangs to take over American cities.

Attack on family in Compton latest incident in wave of anti-black violence -- A Latino gang is intimidating blacks into leaving the city that was once an African American enclave. It's part of a violent trend seen in other parts of the L.A. area.

The trouble began soon after they arrived. The black family—a mother, three teenage children and a 10-year-old boy—moved into a little yellow home in Compton over Christmas vacation. When a friend came to visit, four men in a black SUV pulled up and called him a "nigger," saying black people were barred from the neighborhood, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies. They jumped out, drew a gun on him and beat him with metal pipes.

It was just the beginning of what detectives said was a campaign by a Latino street gang to force an African American family to leave. The attacks on the family are the latest in a series of violent incidents in which Latino gangs targeted blacks in parts of greater Los Angeles over the last decade.

Compton, with a population of about 97,000, was predominantly black for many years. It is now 65% Latino and 33% black, according to the 2010 U.S. census. But it's not only historically black areas that have been targeted.

Federal authorities have alleged in several indictments in the last decade that the Mexican Mafia prison gang has ordered street gangs under its control to attack African Americans. Leaders of the Azusa 13 gang were sentenced to lengthy prison terms earlier this month for leading a policy of attacking African American residents and expelling them from the town.

Similar attacks have taken place in Harbor Gateway, Highland Park, Pacoima, San Bernardino, Canoga Park and Wilmington, among other places. In the Compton case, sheriff's officials say the gang appears to have been acting on its own initiative. <Source: Attack on family in Compton latest incident in wave of anti-black violence - latimes.com>

Bottom line …

This story is a tale which is being repeated in the inner cities, often ruled by corrupt democrats who are stealing the very funds the local, state and federal taxpayers are providing to clean up a cesspool of crime, poverty, disease and decay in favor of the special interests (including the unions) which keep these corrupt politicians in office.

  • Disarming the law-abiding American public or determining what kind of weapons they can use to face this type of gang threat is not only unconstitutional, but “dead” wrong.
  • Not vigorously prosecuting gang and drug crime until the public becomes understandably outraged is a criminal dereliction of duty. It appears that many government institutions actually welcome crime and drugs because it allows them to enlarge their bureaucracy, funding and personnel. You think that the government bureacracy that deals with crime and the support of disadvantaged communities and the unionized law enforcement and prison guards want to see less crime?
  • Pandering to any class of people – be they illegal aliens, Hispanics, Blacks – to secure their vote is both disingenuous and racist.
  • Continuing to ignore the societal impact of fatherless Black families is morally reprehensible; especially when Black fathers refuse to support their children and impregnate multiple women with few consequences. Where is a protective father in the above story? And, had he been armed, would he and his family become gun-violence statistics – not because of the gun, but because of the gang?
  • Allowing the hyper-partisan democrat-controlled unions to spend billions of dollars on a facility and personnel infrastructure without adequately educating children is also a gross dereliction of duty.
  • Demand an accounting for your funds. Fight the bureaucracy and hold them responsible for your declining, decaying, drug-ridden, gang-infested neighborhoods.

The corrupt democrats and their socialist agenda is racist, anti-American and will be the downfall of the United States. Being infiltrated by socialists and communists, the democrat party no longer represents America, they represent our enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Time for a change at the local, state and federal level. Vote your neighbors in to office rather than a professional politician or power broker. Hold them accountable.

And for those of you in Compton facing America’s enemy on your home grounds, the above story is proof you cannot trust the police to defend you and your family. Get a gun, learn how to use it, teach your children gun safety – and protect your own lives. In the meantime – throw the corrupt democrat politicians who will not protect you out of office.

Who will monitor and mitigate Obama's "Irresponsible" behavior?

In his weekly address, President Obama spoke about his nomination of Mary Jo White to head the Securities and Exchange Commission and Richard Cordray who was illegally appointed to his position as a recess appointment when the Senate was still in session. The Cordray appointment must be viewed in the light of the recent court ruling that Obama’s recess appointment of the National Labor Relations Board Members under the same conditions was illegal and an abuse of power.

Court says Obama’s NLRB appointments unconstitutional

A federal appeals court ruled Friday that President Obama exceeded his constitutional authority by appointing three members of the National Labor Relations Board while the Senate was in recess.  The court ruled that the NLRB’s decisions during the past year are invalid because the appointees, which included Sharon Block, Terence F. Flynn and Richard E. Griffin, were not properly assigned to their positions. The NLRB said in a statement Friday that it disagreed with the court’s ruling and plans to carry on with its mission. “The parties who come to us seek and expect careful consideration and resolution of their cases, and for that reason, we will continue to perform our statutory duties and issue decisions,” the release said. <Source>

President Obama, Weekly Lie to the American People

Speaking truth to power in blue italics …

Remarks of President Barack Obama -- Weekly Address -- The White House -- January 26, 2013

Hi, everybody.  Here in America, we know the free market is the greatest force for economic progress the world has ever known.  But we also know the free market works best for everyone when we have smart, commonsense rules in place to prevent irresponsible behavior

<<Yet, Obama’s actions demonstrate respect for socialism with its central planning, managed outcomes, wealth redistribution and corrupt leadership pandering to the special interests in return for access to power.>>

That’s why we passed tough reforms to protect consumers and our financial system from the kind of abuse that nearly brought our economy to its knees.  And that’s why we’ve taken steps to end taxpayer-funded bailouts, and make sure businesses and individuals who do the right thing aren’t undermined by those who don’t.

<<Anyone who can add up a column of numbers can see that the “too big to fail” financial institutions which represented a systemic risk to our economy have continued to grow in size until their combined contingent debt obligations overshadow even the national debt.>>

But it’s not enough to change the lawwe also need cops on the beat to enforce the law.  And that’s why, on Thursday, I nominated Mary Jo White to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Richard Cordray to continue leading the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

<<Obama has little or no respect for the law. Witness the illegal activities in Fast and Furious, the Benghazi Affair, the administrative rules and regulations that bypass the Constitutional authority of Congress – and the illegal recess appointment of Richard Cordray while the Senate was still sitting. All done knowingly with the knowledge that the courts may rectify the situation – but by then, Obama’s agenda would have been moved forward.>>

Mary Jo White has decades of experience cracking down on white-collar criminals and bringing mobsters and terrorists to justice.  At the SEC, she will help complete the task of reforming Wall Street and keep going after irresponsible behavior in the financial industry so that taxpayers don’t pay the price.

<<This is a true statement, but one should not overlook the fact that the nominee has little or no experience in securities law and that her department, with its purposefully limited budget and personnel resources, will be facing some of the smartest securities legal talent in the nation. And, unfortunately for America, corporations are viewed as artificial persons who cannot be sent to prison, so when a corporation pleads guilty in return for a “record fine” and not admitting nor denying the government’s allegations, the real perpetrators – the executives – walk free. Thus we see $1.2 BILLION in customer funds go missing at Jon Corzine’s MF Global and Corzine skates the responsibility while graciously pointing out that he waived a multi-million dollar severance package should the company have been purchased in a ‘white knight’ bailout.>>

Richard Cordray is a champion for American consumers.  After the Senate refused to allow Richard an up-or-down vote when I nominated him in 2011, I took action to appoint him on my own.  And since then, he’s helped protect Americans from predatory lenders, launched a “Know Before You Owe” campaign to help families make smart decisions about paying for college, and cracked down on credit card companies that charge hidden fees.  But Richard’s appointment runs out at the end of the year, and in order for him to stay on the job, the Senate needs to finally give him the vote he deserves.

<< There is a fundamental flaw in the government’s thinking when it comes to financial crimes. That is, you can get away with egregious behavior which disadvantages the consumer ‘if you disclose it somewhere in the dense legalese that cannot often be understood by lawyers.’ The “Know Before You Owe” was little more than the re-jiggering and combination of two mortgage forms, the misleading and misnamed “Truth in Lending” form and the “Good Faith Estimate” form. One form being a summary of the loan’s terms and conditions and the other a summary of the closing costs. Unfortunately, the mortgage industry has found a way to bypass the closing cost issue by promoting loans whose closing costs are rolled into the interest rate – at many times what the actual closing costs would have been – and therefore do not need to be disclosed individually. As for Cordray’s recess appointment, it was knowingly and blatantly illegal and a slap at the Constitutional authority of the Senate. Because the Senate was controlled by democrats, the opposition could do nothing except sanction the President and nullify the appointment – which they clearly refused to do.>>

As President, my top priority is simple: to do everything in my power to fight for middle-class families and give every American the tools they need to reach the middle class.

<<That must be the reason that the President and his fellow travelers in Congress continue to spend taxpayer funds far in excess of what is needed to run the country, as well as channel taxpayer funds to unproductive and obscenely costly union-dominated projects. And, in the so-called recovery period after the recession, slap additional taxes on the American worker who is struggling under an even greater local, state and federal tax burden. Not to mention the billions of dollars wasted in crony-socialism with Solyndra and other faux-green companies who require government grants, loans, subsidies and usage mandates to exist in the free and competitive market.>>

That means bringing in people like Mary Jo and Richard whose job it is to stand up for you.  It means encouraging businesses to create more jobs and pay higher wages, and improving education and job training so that more people can get the skills that businesses are looking forIt means reforming our immigration system and keeping our children safe from the menace of gun violence.  And it means bringing down our deficit in a balanced way by making necessary reforms and asking every American to pay their fair share.

<<Mary Jo and Richard are agents of the President of the United States and will be carrying out his agenda, even if that means additional rules and regulations that disadvantage consumers and citizens or the type of selective enforcement designed to silence the opposition and provide perks and privileges to the special interests funding Obama’s campaign and party.

It is not the government’s job to create more jobs and pay higher wages. Prices and wages are a function of the ‘free market’, which the President mentioned in his first sentence. However, it is the government’s job to spend the taxpayer’s money wisely and to create a general economic atmosphere which encourages economic growth. The free market will determine what jobs need to be created and what those jobs are worth. Immigration is a matter of enforcing the existing laws, laws that the Administration refuses to enforce and which should represent an impeachable offense for perjury – violating one’s oath of office. We had a workable immigration and guest worker program until both political parties started playing politics to gain favor with voters divided on a class basis. The implementation of gun control does not solve the problem of crazies or criminals, and it certainly does not keep children safe. What it does is disarm law-abiding Americans and enlarge the “gun free” zone in which criminals are safe to ply their trade. As for bringing down our deficit, reforms and paying one’s fair share – the President is a stone cold liar. It is the President and his party that refuses to cut spending in a fiscally prudent way. It is the President and his party that is raising taxes on the disadvantaged middle class. It is the President and his party that are disobeying the Constitution and equality under the law as the continue to divide and conquer American using class envy and warfare against Americans.>>

I am honored and humbled to continue to serve as your President.  And I am more hopeful than ever that four years from now – with your help – this country will be more prosperous, more open, and more committed to the principles on which we were founded.

<<As far as I can determine, there is nothing honorable or humble about President Obama’s service in office. One of manipulation and an anti-America agenda. The President appears to be an egotistical poseur willing to let others do the work of governing while he vacations, plays golf and continues to campaign. In essence, a movie-star/celebrity like the grossly ineffective and damaging Arnold Schwarzenegger.>>

Thanks, and have a great weekend.

Bottom line …

This is the type of bafflegab that is pre-written, pre-tested and represents nothing by spin. It’s a puff piece that lies to the American public by not stating the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. In reality, more partisan bullpucky.

RECOGNIZING THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE GOP

Last night’s conversation with my best friend Al can only be described as disheartening. Al is a pessimist, or in his viewpoint a realist, who believes that we are doomed because – and I quote – “we are doomed because the people don’t give a shit.” In fact, his only surprise is that this transformation is happening so fast. Even when I remind him of the sanctity of the United States Constitution, Al simply replies that “nobody cares” and that I am living in a world of the past.

But, he did have a useful observation. The democrats have their act together and the GOP doesn’t plan ahead. While, observing the current dysfunction in the GOP, I say that I must agree.

First, there is no clear head of the GOP. While we see RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) like Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) acting as spokesmen for the GOP, both Senators are ultra-liberal and have put forth joint legislation which advances the democrat socialist agenda. One might ask why former President George Bush is not the de facto head of the  republican Party – or at least a guiding hand; as former President Clinton appears to be for the democrats; notwithstanding President Obama’s cadre of Chicago fellow travelers.

Second, there is no clear GOP platform that is acceptable to a majority audience or one that would encourage disaffected democrats, independents, conservatives and libertarians to support the party’s agenda. The GOP refuses to limit their agenda to fiscal and social reforms, thus adding a self-defeating agenda relating to human rights. Pushing the concept of freedom, while interfering with women’s health issues – thus alienating a large segment of the voting population with positions on abortion, contraception and other health issues that should be between a patient and their doctor. The GOP also alienates a large segment of the population by pursuing unwinnable wars – be it the war we should have never fought in Afghanistan or the phony war on drugs. Both involving massive government spending which advantages special interests who have no incentive to improve present conditions. The GOP is afraid to tackle the big issues – explaining how much of the financial chaos in cities and states are the result of corrupt unions corrupting politicians. Then there is the phony stand on so-called “family values” which permits democrats to virtually destroy republicans for the slightest improprieties.

Third, the GOP fails to plan ahead. It appears that all republican activities are ad hoc and without forethought. Unlike the democrats, effective campaign teams are disbanded after an election and are rarely reconstituted again. The GOP does not understand that the democrats have changed the landscape to one of a “perpetual campaign.”

Fourth, the GOP does not control their message, nor their messenger – allowing long-time democrats to run as republicans because it is a convenient way of bypassing a punishing democrat primary. Liberals like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg were RINOS – fiscally and socially liberal. Chris Christie may be a fiscal conservative, but he remains a social liberal and part-time friend of public employee unions and collective bargaining.

Fifth, the Northeastern Liberals who control the GOP are afraid to get down and dirty – using the same tactics as the democrats. How many people remember George Bush, the Yalie who pretended to be a Regan-style cowboy who simply refused to engage his opponents. As if he, the President of the United States, was above the fray – even though he was the de facto head of the Republican Party.

Bottom line …

Maybe my friend Al is right – and that we should try to get everything we can before we die. Forget the Constitution. Forget the future. All is lost. But, somehow, I refuse to buy into that scenario. Believing that, at some point in time, the American people will realize that they have been played for fools by both sides of the political spectrum and simply throw a majority of incumbents out of office. Or, perhaps, revolt in unpredictable ways.

Unless America regains its strength and reinforces the American-way on its citizens, perhaps America as we do know it will be radically transformed by Obama and his fellow travelers. Killing the golden goose which gave so much to humanity at large.
