Gun Control: OK, MR. PRESIDENT -- YOU WANT GUN REGISTRATION AND VERIFICATION -- HOW ABOUT IMPLEMENTING E-VERIFY TO CHECK IDENTITIES AND PROVIDE FOR PRIORITY PROCESSING FOR MINORITIES IN URBAN AREAS?
President Obama want to improve the process for background checks on gun purchasers, yet President Obama is unwilling to:
- Clean up the visa system so that incoming and outgoing visitors are correctly accounted for – and those who overstay their visas are placed on a watch and hold list.
- Use e-Verify to determine the validity of Social Security identity documents so that illegal aliens – many with stolen, forged or bogus identity documents do not get weapons.
- Change the “optional” use of the Social Security Number as an identifier of a gun purchaser.
- Target (not profile) those minorities in urban areas for priority processing.
Of course, since criminals and crazies do not abide by the law – items three and four have absolutely no value. However, items one and two are of critical importance.
Bottom line …
Except in liberal strongholds where aliens, minorities and women will be issue weapons to insure social justice (just kidding), Obama’s gun control efforts do not materially reduce crime – they enlarge the number of victims.
