In an attempt to rehabilitate his buddy. NBC sportscaster Bob Costas, Bill O’Reilly explains that Costas was referring to a “gun culture” in his halftime rant rather than “gun control.” During the interview, Costas doubles down on stupidity by claiming he was quoting from a column by Jason Whitlock “who was in Kansas City for a long time, now is on the Fox Sports website.”
And here it comes … “In which he mentioned, I think credibly, a gun culture in this country. Now, it plays itself out in many ways, but it is a mentality about and toward guns that almost always leads to tragedy rather than safety.”
I call bullpucky!
First, look at the statistics and you will find that most gun deaths are related to criminal activity, suicide, police confrontation, or the use of drugs and alcohol when handling weapons. And, of course, the occasional accident. Second, only deaths are counted by the authorities and rarely do they segment the numbers by the activities leading to the death; they do not count lives saved or crimes prevented. And third, on-balance, disarming a large number of responsible and law-abiding citizens based on the actions of a few is a political stunt meant to strengthen the government and an individual’s reliance on government.
In the case at hand, the Kansas City Chiefs’ linebacker Jovan Bevan killed his girlfriend with 9 shots and orphaned their child, here was a man who was mean, abusive and allegedly taking prescriptions pills and drinking alcohol. An irresponsible douchebag who should be the poster boy for “you can’t stop crazy people with guns” any more than you can stop crazy people who use knives, baseball bats, fireplace pokers, poison or cars to kill people. Crazy is crazy.
Then Costas continues, “I believe that there should be more comprehensive and effective controls on the sales of guns.” … “Roughly 40% of the guns purchased in this country do not require a background check for purchase.” … “There should be training programs for those who purchase guns. I do not see any reason why someone should be able to purchase military-style artillery and body armor and automatic weapons, only the police or the military.”
This jerk still believes the gunman in the Aurora, Colorado theatre was shooting “military-style artillery.” Ignoring the fact that artillery refers to weapons which can project force beyond the range of personal weapons, the gunman in Aurora was clinically insane, used other weapons such as firebombs and booby traps and the weapons were not automatic weapons such as those used by the military. He appears to be repeating the talking points of the liberals – which is unconscionable since he has had the time to study the subject under discussion.
That folks, is Bob Costas promoting gun control!
Bottom line …
Bob Costas is a liberal weasel who appears to be unwilling to protect himself.
It is important to remember that the sole purpose of the Second Amendment was to reaffirm your God-given right of self-defense and to protect yourself, individually and jointly, against government tyranny. And, not so coincidently, it is the corrupt politicians and government bureaucrats who are trying to disarm you.
“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
It is important to remember that there was no way the lawful authorities could have responded to the situation in order to save a life. The only chance to save a life was if the girlfriend or mother were armed and intervened.
In the words of my friends, it is better to be judged by twelve, than carried to your grave by six.
