Women: Sen. Bob Menendez paid us for sex in the Dominican Republic | The Daily Caller

Here is the report, as promised by the Daily Caller and touted by Matt Drudge …

Women: Sen. Bob Menendez paid us for sex in the Dominican Republic

Two women from the Dominican Republic told The Daily Caller that Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez paid them for sex earlier this year. In interviews, the two women said they met Menendez around Easter at Casa de Campo, an expensive 7,000 acre resort in the Dominican Republic. They claimed Menendez agreed to pay them $500 for sex acts, but in the end they each received only $100. The women spoke through a translator in the company of their attorney, Melanio Figueroa. Both asked that their identities remain obscured for fear of reprisals in the Dominican Republic.

When shown a photograph of Sen. Menendez, the women said they recognized him as the man with whom they’d had sexual relations at Casa de Campo this spring. Both said they were brought to the resort with the understanding they would be paid for sex. Neither knew the identity of the man at the time. Both claimed to recognize him later as Sen. Menendez.

Menendez, who is 58 and divorced, has represented New Jersey in the U.S. Senate as a Democrat since being appointed to fill a vacancy in 2005. He is up for re-election on Nov. 6. Asked about the allegations, Menendez spokeswoman Tricia Enright refused to answer any questions on the subject. “We’re not going to respond to a completely false accusation,” she wrote by email. More information can be found at Women: Sen. Bob Menendez paid us for sex in the Dominican Republic | The Daily Caller

Bottom line …

That a divorced Senator paid for sex is not a major story … but it is a distraction. Keep you eye on the ball.

Barack Obama and what he has done to America, in both foreign and domestic affairs. And if you want a real scandal to mull over – there is always Benghazi and the President’s refusal to explain why Americans in extremis were deliberately denied aid – and why the cover-up necessitated lying to the American public.

P.S. Wonder if Gloria Allred will involve herself in the case and excoriate the Senator as she has done to Republicans.

Arrogant Senator Feinstein chooses not to debate …

Perhaps the wrong questions are being asked?

Sen. Feinstein explains decision not to debate

U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Wednesday that she hasn't faced off in a debate against her Republican opponent because she's heard nothing from her challenger, Elizabeth Emken, that she needed to debate.

"There's just nothing constructive coming out of their campaign," said the four-term Democratic senator following a meeting with the Register's editorial board. She added that she's been accessible to the public and the media.

Feinstein has a huge financial advantage as well, having spent $12.4 million through Oct. 17 while Emken has spent $745,000, according to federal disclosures. <Source>

On April 22, 2009, I published a blog item, DIANNE FEINSTEIN: OOPS I DID IT AGAIN?, questioning whether or not Dianne Feinstein’s multi-millionaire husband profited from her political activities. So why aren’t these questions being asked? Why doesn’t the challenger ask why Dianne Feinstein quit the MILCON (Military Construction Committee)?

I have always believed that a correctly asked question could make a difference in politics. Apparently in this Republican’s case, they do not know what they are doing.

OCTOBER SURPRISE? DRUDGE REPORT HYPING BREAKING SEX SCANDAL

Update-2: Women: Sen. Bob Menendez paid us for sex in the Dominican Republic | The Daily Caller

Update-1:  STORY SAID TO INVOLVE POWERFUL SENATOR, SOURCES TELL DRUDGE. DAILY CALLER PLANS LATE NIGHT RELEASE...

DRUDGE

Drudge is teasing “SEX SCANDAL TO HIT CAMPAIGN… DEVELOPING ….”

Should Americans pay attention to a sex scandal when our nation is in peril? This is the type of distraction that takes attention off the real issues of our time.

  1. Do we want to reaffirm capitalism, democracy and a free-market economy or do we want larger government patterned on an European socialist-democrat model>
  2. Do we want to continue spending ourselves into oblivion or do we want to implement budgetary reform?
  3. Do we want to allow the special interests to control our destinies?
  4. Do we want jobs?
  5. Do we want a safer America?
  6. Do we want rational healthcare at an affordable price – with medical decisions made by physicians and not bureaucrats acting on behalf of insurance companies?

Whatever it is we want, a sex scandal is just another distraction.

Gingrich on Benghazi Rumor: "This is not a terrorist action. Stand down."

Because the President of the United States refuses to explain why he apparently lied to the American people about the events on 9/11 in Benghazi, Libya – falsely claiming that there was a protest over a little seen YouTube video trailers, we have all manner of rumor and supposition. Among the top-ranked theories are:

The President is trying to cover-up the fact that the Administration misjudged the impact of the anniversary of 9/11 and left an American Consulate understaffed and unprotected.

This is a plausible scenario because it has been known for more than a decade that the State Department was all about appearances, style over substance. Preferring to demonstrate to the host government that we trusted their protective services and did not consider their country to be an abnormal threat. Comments by Richard Marcinko, the Navy Seal who formed the original Seal Team Six and went on to do security assessments at diplomatic and military installations openly speaks about those policies.

The President is trying to cover-up the fact that the death of bin Laden did not really have a significant impact on the organization and that al Qaeda is growing in the region.

This is a plausible scenario if one believes that the bin Laden raid was the centerpiece of Obama’s foreign policy. Given the events in the region, it was merely the one part of the story that focused media attention on Obama as he spiked the ball on bin Laden. Considering that Obama’s political actions may have been the proximate cause for an al Qaeda attack – using the President’s own logic about what riles up terrorists – might have significant political consequences.

The President is trying to cover-up the fact that the White House was micro-managing events and got the situation wrong – believing that it was simply a mirror of an earlier Egyptian protest and that unleashing the full might of the American military might give rise to the unfortunate optics of dead civilian protesters and seen as an overreaction by the White House. This is given credence by a rumor reported by Newt Gingrich on Fox’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren …

“There is a rumor — I want to be clear, it’s a rumor — that at least two networks have emails from the National Security Adviser’s office telling a counterterrorism group to stand down,” Gingrich said. “But they were a group in real-time trying to mobilize marines and C-130s and the fighter aircraft, and they were told explicitly by the White House stand down and do nothing. This is not a terrorist action. If that is true, and I’ve been told this by a fairly reliable U.S. senator, if that is true and comes out, I think it raises enormous questions about the president’s role, and Tom Donilon, the National Security Adviser’s role, the Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, who has taken it on his own shoulders, that he said don’t go. And that is, I think, very dubious, given that the president said he had instructions they are supposed to do everything they could to secure American personnel.” <Source: Gingrich: Senator told me networks may have White House emails commanding counterterrorism group to stand down on Benghazi rescue | The Daily Caller>

The President is trying to cover-up the fact that the administration was gun-running to the contras …

This is a credible scenario because it is alleged that the Americans were arming Syrian rebels through arms deals with Turkey and that this terrorist action would reveal details of arms deals. Since Operation Fast and Furious, providing weapons to the Mexican Drug Cartels – ostensibly for political purposes – and the loss of American lives created such a stink in the media and in Congress, the last thing the Obama Administration is another gun-running event leading to the loss of American lives. Primarily by arming the very same Islamic extremists who were killing Americans elsewhere.

Knowing President Obama’s apparent sympathies with Muslims, this could become a significant factor should anyone in the media accuse him of aiding and abetting enemies of the United States during wartime – thus setting the stage for a Congressional charge of treason.

Obama was being Obama – overthinking and over-lawyering the situation …

It is possible that Obama was considering the legal ramifications of penetrating another country, technically an act of war, to assist Americans. There is some chatter that the CIA facility may not have been accorded diplomatic protection and may have been relatively secret – and now it appears that the Administration is referring to the Consulate as another “facility” rather than a consulate.

Bottom line …

No matter what the operative theory, it was all an Obama cover-up. Obama bald-facedly lied to the American public and ordered his surrogates to lie to the American public. The buck stops at his desk and he should be held accountable for his actions. Remember this when you vote. We can no longer trust Obama to keep America and Americans safe and secure. His domestic and foreign policies are abject failures. He is both corrupt and incompetent – and his fellow travelers are anti-America. Enough said. – steve

UNPRECEDENTED OPPORTUNITY TO SHRINK THE RANKS OF GOVERNMENT COMING ON NOVEMBER 7, 2012

It is against the law to shred documents and destroy hard disks containing information protected by the government’s archival rules …

National Archives and Records Administration’s records management approach is grounded in three principles:

• Federal agencies must economically and effectively create and manage records necessary to meet business needs
• Federal records must be kept long enough to protect rights and assure accountability, and
• Federal records of archival value must be preserved and made available by the National Archives for future generations.

NARA regulations affecting Federal agencies and their records management programs are found in Subchapter B of 36 Code of Federal Regulations Chapter XII. Part 1230 is especially important.

Part 1230 - Unlawful or Accidental Removal, Defacing, Alteration, or Destruction of Records

§ 1230.10 Who is responsible for preventing the unlawful or accidental removal, defacing, alteration, or destruction of records?

The heads of Federal agencies must:

(a) Prevent the unlawful or accidental removal, defacing, alteration, or destruction of records. Section 1222.24(a)(6) of this subchapter prohibits removing records from the legal custody of the agency. Records must not be destroyed except under the provisions of NARA-approved agency records schedules or the General Records Schedules issued by NARA;

(b) Take adequate measures to inform all employees and contractors of the provisions of the law relating to unauthorized destruction, removal, alteration or defacement of records;

(c) Implement and disseminate policies and procedures to ensure that records are protected against unlawful or accidental removal, defacing, alteration and destruction; and

(d) Direct that any unauthorized removal, defacing, alteration or destruction be reported to NARA.

§ 1230.12 What are the penalties for unlawful or accidental removal, defacing, alteration, or destruction of records?

The penalties for the unlawful or accidental removal, defacing, alteration, or destruction of Federal records or the attempt to do so, include a fine, imprisonment, or both (18 U.S.C. 641 and 2071).

<Source: Part 1230 - Unlawful or Accidental Removal, Defacing, Alteration, or Destruction of Records>

Bottom line …

With the orgy of document destruction sure to commence on or about November 7, 2012, bureaucrats who order the destruction of documents can be investigated, charged and punished – thus removing them from the ranks of the government. As with all government prosecutions, the little fish will be given opportunities to testify about the activities of the bigger fish, so it is anticipated that many corrupt and incompetent government employees may be caught up in the document destruction scheme.

Now, if only the Republicans have the will to pursue the matter on behalf of “We the People” since they traditionally look the other way in some form of tacit acknowledgement that both parties are equally corrupt and liable to do stupid or criminal things.

DONALD TRUMP: YOU’RE FIRED -- DUMPED AS PROPERTY MANAGER FOR TRUMP PLACE!

Donald Trump sheds criticism like water off the proverbial duck’s back. Always bouncing back with a bigger media story.

But what to make of The Donald’s management company being fired as the manager of a building that bears his name. Could this be the real reason behind Donald Trump’s $5 million offer to charity if President Obama releases his school and travel records. Preempting what could have been an embarrassing news cycle and replacing it with a positive spin of his own. If this is true, you have to love “The Donald” as a master spinmeister and media manipulator.

According to news reports …

Donald Trump fired from management of Trump Place

Effective Nov. 1, AKAM Living Services will take over the management duties of Trump Place. The upscale New York City condominium felt it was time to make a change. Condominium board members said they had given the Trump Organization several years to improve their service. The service did not improve to the board's satisfaction.

The Trump Organization claimed they were unaware of the change in management companies. The board notified Trump that his services would no longer be necessary last week. It was not long after when Trump began spreading word of his 'major announcement'.

Trump's faced his own share of negative headlines over the years. Divorce, bankruptcy, claims of false advertising, and struggling casino investments have all dogged Trump. Despite these negative headlines, he has continued to believe he is the man with the golden touch. Trump Place, which bears the Trump name, believes the change will help the condominium to maintain its reputation as a high end community in New York.

It's fitting irony the man who trademarked "You're Fired!" is being fired from his own building. <Source: Donald Trump fired from management of Trump Place - Baltimore Democrat | Examiner.com>

But Anna Fishbeyn, vice president of the Trump Place board, said the change was a long time in coming. "We've been waiting for their services to improve for years," Fishbeyn told the Huffington Post. "And when they didn't, we started investigating other services." Although Fishbeyn said the decision to replace the Trump company was difficult, especially given the name recognition, the board ultimately made the right call. The Real Deal quoted anonymous sources as saying some residents were displeased by the change, but Fishbeyn countered the claim, saying her office has been flooded with thank you's. "I have received email after email thanking me for the decision," she said. "We were in part responding to [residents who] over the years who had been accruing complaints, and talking about the lack of responsiveness... of maintenance issues." <Source: The Huffington Post>

Bottom line …

I wouldn’t read too much into this story. Residents are wont to fire their property manager for a host of ills, some real and some imagined, so over time, these types of management company changes are seen. Whether or not Trump timed his Obama announcement to coincide with a news cycle is unlikely as Trump himself is often the story and overshadows almost all other coverage.

But it is sort of fun to imagine the President of the Board walking up to Trump and saying “You’re Fired!”

DISNEY ACQUIRES LUCASFILM, IS THIS A THREAT TO YOUR FREEDOM?

The Walt Disney Company has purchased Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound for $4 BILLION and change. But is this a good thing for Americans interested in personal freedom?

From the announcement …

Continuing its strategy of delivering exceptional creative content to audiences around the world, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) has agreed to acquire Lucasfilm Ltd. in a stock and cash transaction. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by Lucasfilm Chairman and Founder, George Lucas.

Under the terms of the agreement and based on the closing price of Disney stock on October 26, 2012, the transaction value is $4.05 billion, with Disney paying approximately half of the consideration in cash and issuing approximately 40 million shares at closing. The final consideration will be subject to customary post-closing balance sheet adjustments. <Source: http://thewaltdisneycompany.com/disney-news/press-releases/2012/10/disney-acquire-lucasfilm-ltd >

What Disney did to your freedom …

It appears that Disney has done more to subvert the personal electronic freedom of individuals using paid industry lobbyists to entice politicians to promote laws, rules and regulations that criminalize the sharing of copyrighted materials even when such materials may be in the public domain. To protect their content creation and distribution powerhouse, they have promoted policies which demanded that every electronic device capable of recording and playback of copyrighted content be equipped with such things as Globally Unique IDentifiers (GUIDs) which allow content to be tracked to individual devices – and often the individuals using such devices. Thus enabling a global “big brother” apparatus capable of being used by governments to monitor its citizen’s activities by stealth and without safeguard.

It has also disadvantaged the American public by breaking the original compact by which content creators cede rights to their creations to the public domain in return for a government-enforced monopoly for a set period of time. By their manipulation of corrupt politicians who were apparently willing to trade their vote in return for campaign contributions, this period of exclusive use has been extended beyond a person’s lifetime – rendering such a compact as a theoretical exercise.

In addition, laws have been passed which allow content in the public domain to be contained in an electronic wrapper – and while the information may belong to the public at large, breaking the wrapper is a federal crime. Not to mention transferring the costs of investigating and prosecuting alleged copyright violations from the content creator/distributors directly to the already overburdened taxpayers. While making a civil issue into a criminal issue.

Bottom line …

Now that Disney is expanding its creative and technology line – are we likely to see more interference in the political denial of rights to American citizens? Are we likely to see more tracking and preventative technology?

While this deal is good for the brand and the shareholders, is it good for the American public at large? I suggest that you join the Electronic Frontier Foundation (www.eff.org) to start preserving your digital rights in this politically corrupt world.

Copyright Wars

If the Brothers Grimm tale about “the fairest one of all” had remained outside of the public domain, the Disney version of “Snow White” may never have lived happily ever after.

On Wednesday, Oct. 5, the Supreme Court heard arguments in Golan v. Holder, a case challenging the copyright provision of the 1994 Congressional Act that restored protections to works that entered the public domain after their copyrights had expired.

Peter Decherney, an associate professor of film studies in Penn’s School of Arts and Sciences, argues in a New York Times op-ed, “Will Copyright Stifle Hollywood?,” that there are many reasons the justices should conclude that Congress has gone too far in altering the U.S. copyright system.

He writes, “For one thing, restoring the copyright of works in the public domain is a different and more profound act than the extension of copyright terms. By removing works from the public domain, Congress has destabilized it. If foreign works can have their copyrights restored, why not works made in the United States? Filmmakers, producers and others who regularly rely on the public domain will become wary of using it.”

Decherney, who wrote an amicus brief for the plaintiff, is author of the forthcoming book “Hollywood’s Copyright Wars.” It explores the history of film piracy, the importance of plagiarism for the studio system, film directors’ campaign for “moral rights,” and Hollywood’s love-hate relationship with fair use, among other topics.
