A little Obama humor ...

Does anybody really believe that the President is really in charge … since he is off vacationing in Chicago?

Does anybody really believe that “all hands are on deck” when they can plainly see that key Louisiana officials were begging to get government permits approved to build protective berms and stop the oil from flowing onshore?

And does anyone not really believe that “those responsible” will be held accountable … especially those in the government who waived environmental impact reports and full emergency response plans for the stricken drilling rig.

And does anyone believe that Obama and his socialist crew are going to use this single incident to move the United States farther away from energy independence, with more takes on oil and gasoline and heavier environmental regulations which is going to further cripple the nation’s economy?

This is so typical of the Obama Administration and their “a speech will make it better” philosophy, that I do not know whether to laugh, cry or scream in frustration.

For those who want to see what might be going on underwater, here is a great link to BP’s ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) underwater camera coverage.

BP -- Corporate Crime and Punishment: Who are we kidding?

Starting with the basics …

It often helps to define the key concepts of our discussion.

Definition: Corporation – an entity granted a government charter recognizing it as a separate legal entity having its own rights, privileges, and liabilities; some of which are similar to those enjoyed by a “natural person.”
Definition: Anthropomorphism -- the attribution of human characteristics to inanimate objects.

My point being that many people actually consider corporations as people. That is, they overlook the reality of the situation and either hate or love the corporation. Showing loyalty in defending an organization or heaping disdain on the corporation as if it were a person.

Reality Check …

Organizations are comprised of human beings acting in concert to achieve a particular purpose. The primary goal of most organizations, especially those which have moved beyond their founders and have existed for at least a few generations, is to protect, at all costs, the organization. The secondary goals being to reward and advance the agenda of its directors and executives, provide a return to its owners (shareholders) and to garner positive public relations.

And, no matter how much the members of the public want to “punish” a corporation, it cannot really be done. You may punish or sanction individuals, but as for the corporation – it is impossible to punish a corporation that does not feel pain, understand remorse or has any memory of what is being done under its charter.

The corporation doesn’t pay, “we the people” pay …

In response to a commenter on facebook, I wrote …

“You seem to want to punish BP as if it were a person -- which it most decidedly is not. It is a corporation and it does not pay fines, penalties or go to jail. Anything it might pay in the course of its business will be passed along to the consumer and others it does business with as a "cost of doing business."

“To make a case for negligent homicide or the deliberate destruction of the environment is almost impossible. You would necessarily need to resolve the command structure to a single person and their actions. BP was all about money and they could present proof that nobody in their right mind would knowingly invite this type of disaster had they known there was a significant chance of this happening. What we seem to have here is a series of bad decisions and actions by a number of players -- who over time, will be sanctioned.”

Not that BP should not be initially required to pay for the cleanup and mitigation efforts, but that the reality of the situation is that they will simply factor these costs into their product line and they will be passed along to those who eventually pay for everything: “we the people.” In addition, for those who are suggesting massive government fines, let us consider the fact that such fines either go into the general treasury account where they are wantonly dissipated in an orgy of uncontrolled spending or they are credited to particular agencies to support their ongoing activities, most of which is paying for personnel in a burgeoning bureaucracy.

Therefore, there is no doubt in my mind that other than a reputational slur, BP will survive this environmental accident and go on to do what BP does best. However, “we the people” will be picking up the ultimate tab and the Obama Administration will use this crisis, as they have done in the past, to advance their socialist agenda and continue their wealth re-distribution and redistributive change policies.

In effect, we are doubly-screwed as “we the people” will not be allowed to benefit from the exploitation of our natural resources and achieve any degree of energy independence. And perhaps that is the real punishment: America is being punished in such a manner as to reward our enemies with billions of petrodollars which may be used to advance their interests over those of the American public.

Bottom line …

We need to consider this particular crisis differently. And we need to start asking some hard questions:

One, knowing that accidents will happen, do we, as a people, want to demonize those corporations and executives who strive to deliver goods and services to the American public and who may suffer an occasional “catastrophic” accident in the process?

Two, should we assess a greater degree of blame on our government for closing inland oil exploration and drilling sites and pushing oil companies to seek offshore oil in extremely hostile environments?

Three, should we assess a greater degree of blame on our government for politicizing its oversight and enforcement agencies and permitting the regulators to get close to those they regulate?

Four, should we assess a greater degree of blame on our Congress for allowing lobbyists for the special interests to build-in special exemptions and loopholes into regulatory legislation. Especially those lobbyists who formally or informally represent foreign corporations and/or foreign sovereign nations?

Five, should we start punishing political appointees and those bureaucrats who have allowed serious regulatory lapses to occur on their watch. Perhaps barring them from government employment, elective service and pension benefits.

Six, should we assess a degree of blame on those who have infiltrated our nation’s highest offices, governmental bureaucracy and infrastructure institutions to use our own environmental laws against us and to provide aid and comfort to our enemies, both foreign and domestic?

Bottom line …

While the proximate cause of the Gulf Oil spill may have been a confluence of greed, inattention and the lack of regulatory oversight, the accident does set the stage for a wider debate. That of the non-existent energy policy, the infiltration of our government and infrastructure institutions by those who might be regarded as enemies of the American way of life and of course, those who are truly guilty of destroying America’s industry and economic future.

So while the corrupt and complacent media endlessly debates the cause, remedy and punishment of BP, I suggest we look at the far greater picture – the damage which has been caused by both political parties who have sold America in return for political power and personal profits.

I say let’s throw these political bastards out of office, especially the liberal, socialist democrats and elect honest brokers to serve “we the people.” Starting now and continuing until 2014, we must convince the sheeple and the entitlement generation that it is in their best interests to rebuild America in the image of our founding fathers – where individualism and responsibility triumphed over collectivism and governance by a ruling elite.

Go to it … it’s our future and the future of succeeding generations that is being put at risk by corrupt politicians like Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Christopher Dodd, John McCain, Lindsey Graham and the others who see our government not as empowering individuals, but as the instrument for enforcing redistributive political change.

SESTAK & Senate-Gate: Friday document dump, Ex-President Clinton's appearance ...

The Friday before Memorial Day, the best time to bury a headline – away from the public’s attention and scrutiny.

The situation …

It appears from widely-reported news stories that the Obama White House, the self-described most transparent and ethical Administration in history, may have attempted to employ “Chicago Style” politics in convincing a sitting member of the House of Representatives who was running for a Senate seat to drop out of the race in return for a position within the Administration.

The trigger …

In an interview with Larry Kane, Congressman Joe Sestak revealed that he had been offered a position with the Administration to drop out of the race.

Larry Kane Report (February 18, 2010)

“Were you ever offered a job to get out of this race? (The contest against Arlen Specter).

Sestak didn’t flinch .

“Yes,” he answered.

“Was it Navy Secretary?”, I asked

He proceeded to talk about staying in the race but added that “he was called many times” to pull out.

Later, I asked,  “So you were offered a job by someone in the White House?”

He said, “Yes.”

When the taping stopped, Joe Sestak looked surprised .

“You are the first person who ever asked me that question.”

The law …

Clearly it is illegal under federal law to attempt to interfere with an election.

18 U.S.C. § 600 : US Code - Section 600: Promise of employment or other benefit for political activity.

Whoever, directly or indirectly, promises any employment, position, compensation, contract, appointment, or other benefit, provided for or made possible in whole or in part by any Act of Congress, or any special consideration in obtaining any such benefit, to any person as consideration, favor, or reward for any political activity or for the support of or opposition to any candidate or any political party in connection with any general or special election to any political office, or in connection with any primary election or political convention or caucus held to select candidates for any political office, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both. <Source>

It should be noted that this particular law relates more to political appointees and may not have been applied to this particular situation in the past. There are also additional laws which may come into play.

18 USC 211 -- Acceptance or solicitation to obtain appointive public office.

18 USC 595 -- Interference by administrative employees of Federal, State, or Territorial Governments.

Hatch Act of 1939 -- “a United States federal law whose main provision is to prohibit federal employees (civil servants) from engaging in partisan political activity.”

White House Counsel comments …

Robert F. Bauer is the President’s personal lawyer who was given the position of White House Counsel. He is known as an able and highly-skilled “fixer” in democrat circles and is married to the former Mao-worshiping White House Director of Communications, Anita Dunn.

MEMORANDUM FROM ROBERT F. BAUER, WHITE HOUSE COUNSEL

SUBJECT: Review of Discussions Relating to Congressman Sestak Recent press reports have reflected questions and speculation about discussions between White House staff and Congressman Joe Sestak in relation to his plans to run for the United States Senate. Our office has reviewed those discussions and claims made about them, focusing in particular on the suggestion that government positions may have been improperly offered to the Congressman to dissuade him from pursuing a Senate candidacy.

We have concluded that allegations of improper conduct rest on factual errors and lack a basis in the law.

Secretary of the Navy. It has been suggested that the Administration may have offered Congressman Sestak the position of Secretary of the Navy in the hope that he would accept the offer and abandon a Senate candidacy. This is false. The President announced his intent to nominate Ray Mabus to be Secretary of the Navy on March 26,2009, over a month before Senator Specter announced that he was becoming a member of the Democratic Party in late April. Mabus was confirmed in May. At no time was Congressman Sestak offered, nor did he seek, the position of Secretary of the Navy.

Uncompensated Advisory Board Options. We found that, as the Congressman has publicly and accurately stated, options for Executive Branch service were raised with him. Efforts were made in June and July of 2009 to determine whether Congressman Sestak would be interested in service on a Presidential or other Senior Executive Branch Advisory Board, which would avoid a divisive Senate primary, allow him to retain his seat in the House, and provide him with an opportunity for additional service to the public in a high-level advisory capacity for which he was highly qualified. The advisory positions discussed with Congressman Sestak, while important to the work of the Administration, would have been uncompensated.

White House staff did not discuss these options with Congressman Sestak. The White House Chief of Staff enlisted the support of former President Clinton who agreed to raise with Congressman Sestak options of service on a Presidential or other Senior Executive Branch Advisory Board. Congressman Sestak declined the suggested alternatives, remaining committed to his Senate candidacy.

Relationship to Senate Campaign. It has been suggested that discussions of alternatives to the Senate campaign were improperly raised with the Congressman. There was no such impropriety. The Democratic Party leadership had a legitimate interest in averting a divisive primary fight and a similarly legitimate concern about the Congressman vacating his seat in the House. By virtue of his career in public service, including distinguished military service, Congressman Sestak was viewed to be highly qualified to hold a range of advisory positions in which he could, while holding his House seat, have additional responsibilities of considerable potential interest to him and value to the Executive Branch.

There have been numerous, reported instances in the past when prior Administrations -- both Democratic and Republican, and motivated by the same goals -- discussed alternative paths to service for qualified individuals also considering campaigns for public office. Such discussions are fully consistent with the relevant law and ethical requirements. <Source>

Overlooking the fact that an ethically-challenged White House “reviewed” the matter and pronounced it insignificant, I am still wonder about a few thing.

One, mentioning factual errors to me also implies a Clintonesque parsing of the exact words of the law and perhaps the statements of those involved. Since these statements were not under oath and available for independent confirmation, I do not believe that this document is worth the paper it is written upon.

Two, why would any sitting Congressman who had a very good chance to win a Senate seat from a disgraced and damaged candidate be interested in a relatively impotent “advisory” board when the real power lies in becoming a Senator?

Three, why would a high-ranking White House Official, the President’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, enlist the services of a known loose cannon, former President Bill Clinton, to make a routine or low level offer to a politician which he would not routinely encounter. And doesn’t the very fact that Rahm Emanuel solicited Bill Clinton for the task speak to prior approval of the President of the United States, Barack Obama.

And four, you cannot excuse bad or illegal behavior by pointing to other bad or illegal behavior. “Because that’s the way it has always been done” is not a defense when one may be charged with breaking a law.

Is there a pattern of behavior here?

Blagojevich … We all laughed at a clown-like, sleazy politician named Rod Blagojevich who has been alleged to attempt to sell his nomination for Barack Obama’s former Senate seat to the highest bidder. Reportedly the Obama Administration wanted the seat for long-time Obama friend Valerie Jarrett, but Blagojevich allegedly felt that the seat was worth more than the administration was willing to provide. He has cunningly subpoenaed the President and Rod Emanuel who may be forced to testify favorably in his behalf or admit to their unsavory behavior.

Romanoff … And there is the little matter of  Andrew Romanoff in Colorado. It seems the Denver Post “article cited top Democratic sources saying the Obama administration ‘suggested a place for Romanoff might be found’ in the executive branch. The implication was that the job would be available if Romanoff dropped any challenge to appointed Sen. Michael Bennet for the Colorado Democratic primary.” <Source>

Jim Messina, President Barack Obama's deputy chief of staff and a storied fixer in the White House political shop, suggested a place for Romanoff might be found in the administration and offered specific suggestions, according to several sources who described the communication to The Denver Post.

Romanoff turned down the overture, which included mention of a job at USAID, the foreign aid agency, sources said. <Source>

Questions remain …

This matter has been festering for months. White House Press Spokesman, Robert Gibbs, has turned into a stuttering oaf as he proclaims “no new information” relating to the so-called “job offer.” And even though Sestak is now shading his story, the White House now has admitted to the basic facts as originally alleged.

Will United States Attorney General Eric Holder have the guts to fulfill his oath of office and appoint an independent counsel or Special Prosecutor  to investigate this matter under oath?

Will Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi or Representative Henry Waxman show any willingness to investigate their own party?

Where is the FBI? Oh I forgot, the FBI is governed by Eric Holder’s Department of Justice.

Why would the Administration employ Bill Clinton as an intermediary if this was a relatively low offer?

Of course they know Bill Clinton is a known perjurer and has been known to lie to the Court and the American people with impunity. This is reminiscent of the charges of  the Clinton Travelgate scandal where the Administration investigated itself and assured the American people that there was nothing illegal involved.

Bottom line …

Something is rotten in Washington and in particular the Obama Administration. An Administration riddled with Chicago-style “bare knuckles” political operatives and socialist/communist political ideologues who will do or say anything to maintain and gain political power in order to pursue their toxic political agenda.

All fine reasons to throw all of the corrupt and/or complacent democrats out of office in November, 2010.

Rand Paul: Tea Party participants beware of who you might be backing ...

I was very much surprised to see that the Kentucky Tea Party movement appeared to throw significant support towards Rand Paul who self-described himself as a traditional-libertarian.

Since I was already suspicious of his father Ron Paul, who openly promotes worldwide financial conspiracy theories, has engaged in a number of dubious newsletters and enterprises and who has refused to disavow support from openly racist and white supremacist groups, I posted an item on my facebook wall …

Am I the only one who feels hinky about Kentucky's Republican Senate nominee Rand Paul? That some of his opinions are based on wild conspiracy theories and that his prescriptions would destroy much of the nation's infrastructure and foreign policy? That some of his followers seem to be as fervent as the old LaRouchies ...or Scientologists. That he welcomes support from known hate groups much like his father?

Of course, it resulted in a spirited debate and one of my facebook friends who provided some interesting links …

Rand Paul and the Perils of Textbook Libertarianism - NYTimes.com

“When Rand Paul, the victor in the Republican Senate primary last week in Kentucky, criticized the Civil Rights Act of 1964, singling out the injustice of non-discriminatory practices it imposed on private businesses, the resulting furor delighted Democrats and unsettled Republicans.”

“His championing of private businesses, ignoring the rights of just about everyone else, places him on the wrong side of history, just like the first opponents of the Civil Rights Act.”

Barefoot and Progressive: Why does Rand Paul's new campaign manager work with a white supremacist?

“As we noted earlier, Rand Paul's new campaign manager/spokesperson is Jesse Benton, the current Senior Vice President of Ron Paul's 501(c)4 lobbying organization Campaign for Liberty.”

“Meet the Fayette County (KY) coordinator for Campaign For Liberty, Basil "Bazz" Childress. He is the state chairman of the Kentucky League of the South. And the Kentucky League of the South is, as the SPLC points out, a White Supremacist Hate Group advocating a second southern secession from the Union.”

Go ahead and add the Kentucky League of the South to Stormfront.org, David Duke, the Ohio Valley Freedom Fighters militia, Randall Terry, and the John Birch Society as groups that support Rand Paul.

Does Rand Paul Have Something To Hide?

“Guess how much a successful ophthalmologist like Rand Paul makes in a year? Just $46,143, according to his personal financial disclosure.”

“Rand lists himself as president of Alchemy, LLC, a Bowling Green entity through which much of his income seems to flow (related note: his U.S. Senate campaign uses the Alchemy address as its headquarters, yet it’s never paid rent and has never reported an in-kind contribution from Alchemy). His wife, Kelley, his father, Ron, and Ronnie Paul are all members. Interestingly, though, Ron hasn’t listed Alchemy, LLC on his own financial disclosure in the last five years.”

“Rand loves to tout that he founded Kentucky Taxpayers United. And on the campaign trail, he’s quick to point out that KTU has raised tons of cash and given it to candidates over the years. So why was the organization dissolved ten years ago and why has it never filed a 990?”

“Rand doesn’t list that he’s President of the National Board of Ophthalmology, Inc. – a Kentucky Non-Profit Corporation. His wife, Kelley, is listed as Vice President and Hilton Ashby (his father-in-law) is listed as Secretary. His financial disclosure indicates that he owes Ashby up to $250,000.”

Rand Paul's Upstart Ophthalmology Group Leaves Little Mark

Rand Paul's reputation for marching to his own drummer may extend to his medical career. The GOP Senate candidate is the founder and president of a certifying board for eye doctors, which he appears to have set up as a rival to the existing certification board. But his organization has left little public record, and the legitimacy with which it's viewed remains unclear at best.

Personally, when dealing with my eyes, I want a trained, Board Certified Ophthalmologist – the traditional Board, American Board of Ophthalmology, with their rigorous exams and other requirements.

With serious financial, ethical and support questions swirling around the candidate, I would just as soon reserve my support for a more traditional candidate; placing Ron Paul and Rand Paul in a niche category with the likes of Lyndon LaRouche, Lew Rockwell and Pat Buchanan. They are all well-spoken, conversant in their subject matter and all seem to leave me with the impression that it’s all an act and that they are as self-serving as any other elected official.

Bottom line …

Yes, someone has to organize the hall, pay for the utilities, provide insurance and signage along with all of the other necessities of promoting an event. But that does not mean that we should not look behind the curtain to the people who are funding – and capitalizing on this populist movement.

At some level, charismatic leaders attract enough of a following to not only keep their cause alive, but to provide a vigorous defense of their “leader/hero/guru” when others question his philosophy or personal lifestyle. This can be seen in any number of religious leaders and even among the political cognoscenti like the old Lyndon LaRouche movement. And it almost always starts with a conspiracy theory, some knowledge only known to the supreme leader or the masterful use of a subject which resonates with some segment of their audience. Add the hoopla of national media attention and you have succeeded in building a support mechanism to secure additional funding and political power.

But we have seen, clearly and convincingly, what happens when a man with dubious associations and few people questioning  his beliefs enters the public arena. I would be extremely wary of trading one wing-nut for another at this critical juncture of our historical development.

Schwarzenegger: See a governor with balls ... standing up to the teachers!

Here is a governor who should be an object lesson for our girly-man governor who lacks the balls or the will to stand up against democrats, unions and the special interests. Who only talks tough in his movies and when in front of a favorable crowd. A governor whose balls appear to be in his liberal democrat wife’s pocket.

See what New Jersey’s Chris Christie tells this teacher who protests his attempts to save New Jersey from bankruptcy…

Say what you will about the State of New Jersey, this is the type of governor we deserve – and possibly the next President of the United States. Someone who speaks plain English and knows when to tell the special interests, such as the teachers’ union to step off.

Well worth watching.

Funny, Jesse James doesn't look like a liberal ...

Just another lying, cheating scum-bucket that got caught …

What are we to make of a tattooed hard-core biker who cheats on his wife with multiple partners and now embarks upon a media redemption tour – proclaiming himself to be a “victim” of child abuse?

The evidence is clear: the man did not honor his wedding vows and the man is a stone-cold liar; offering no compelling reason to believe anything that he says. All presented for America’s entertainment on a once-respected program.

I don’t know about you, but I could care less about the lives of wealthy celebrities whose wealth, power and public recognition lets them lead lives that are foreign to the lives led by most Americans.

Why should a short stint in rehab suddenly mark you as a “changed” person?

We have all been taught that real psychological change takes years of therapy, both to understand one’s self and to change self-destructive behaviors, so why should anyone believe that a short stay in a rehab facility would make a difference in a severely-damaged person.

That is unless you go to “celebrity rehab” which is little more than a convenient “out” for those who are caught and seeking to mitigate the legal, financial and public relations damage that they themselves caused.

Boo Hoo …

When it came time to talk about rehab, the interview broke some news. While he said ‘sex addiction’ and ‘anger management’ were reasons he went, ‘the main thing I went there for was being a victim of childhood abuse.’ This became the emotional core of the interview – James said he ‘was a terrorized kid,’ and later, describing his young daughter, ‘Sunny’s the age I was when my dad broke my arm.’”

“He broke down at this point, asking to stop the interview, fighting back tears. This was teased in the preview on Good Morning America earlier this week, although many would have probably thought the tears came while discussing Bullock.”

By the way, who appoints “America’s Sweetheart?”

I have always been curious about just who officially names America’s sweetheart, the King of Pop or other such titles. Now I come to find that Sandra Bullock is America’s Sweetheart. Did I miss the passing of the crown from America’s former sweetheart, Meg Ryan? Or is this an example of more media fluff and foolishness in serious times?

This is not about Sandra Bullock or Jesse James …

I don’t give a rat’s ass about Jesse James, Sandra Bullock, their problems or daily activities. What I do care about, however, is a media which is continually attempting to distract and amuse the American public while America remains in mortal danger from its enemies, both foreign and domestic.

Deifying celebrity to the point where, somehow, their warped opinions matter to the American public as they pontificate on “how things should be done” while continuing to break all social conventions that they expect the rest of us to abide.

Consider for a moment Sean Penn, a privileged little celebrity asshole, cozying up to murderous, thuggish dictators while telling us America is deeply flawed and not respecting the civil rights of its citizens.

A Jane Fonda who sits atop an anti-aircraft gun and openly spews propaganda during a time of war – only miles from where American soldiers are being tortured.

Bono, a person who keeps his money safe in offshore bank accounts, flying around the world in a private jet while lecturing us about how we should live and spend our money.

Or any other of the “elite” who are motivated by self-serving public relations need to speak out on the issues of the day in order to get media “face time” lest they fade out of the public’s consciousness and into irrelevance.

This is a rant about a corrupt media which portrays the Jesse James story as real news – on a program which has previously dealt with hard news issues – while Obama and his merry band of socialists and communists continue to wreak havoc on America.

I am pissed off …

I am hopping mad about the diversion and distraction attempts of the so-called mainstream media to deflect attention away from serious issues affecting our daily lives: employment, taxation and an increasingly corrupt political class which is slowly selling America to its enemies – property by property, bond by bond.

About a mainstream media which is attempting to disparage and subvert the very forms of communications which render their efforts stale and uninteresting.

About a mainstream media which has lost all journalistic integrity when it comes to providing the hard, unbiased news about matters which have a political component.

And which must find something to demonize in every major industrial accident. While I agree that many companies do not follow their own checklists and preferred best practices in the name of profits or expediency, I do not believe that political talking heads appearing on five news shows are part of the solution, rather they are often part of the problem – providing incorrect information to the public, pointing to the need for more legislation instead of calling for existing laws, rules and regulations to be enforced. But most of all, excusing politicians and their politically-connected special interests from real punishment for their transgressions. Moving offending bureaucrats from position to position as if they were Catholic Priest/Pedophiles. But, worst of all, using any excuse to spend more public money, raise taxes and exert greater control over the lives of ordinary citizens.

Bottom line …

America is a one-of-a-kind amazing country. A productive country whose citizens, free from onerous government regulation and political manipulation of the marketplace, can achieve almost anything. All being brought down by a system which does not believe in challenge and growth, but now has turned to restriction and re-distribution of the labor of American workers.

But worst of all, the mainstream media sits idly by – giving us worthless stories of a celebrity’s personal problems rather than telling the truth of an America on the abyss. An America which is under radical assault from within and without. An America which will cease to be America in a relatively short period of time. It is no wonder that the mainstream media has lost marketshare – they no longer tell the truth and the truth they tell is born of their own economic and political reality.

Of course, we need to deal with the corruption in the political arena – starting in November, 2010. But more importantly, we need to deal with the corruption in the mainstream media.

And as a start, I suggest that we demand that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) do their sworn duties as stewards of the public airwaves to insure that all advertising by our government is carried free on all mainstream media outlets. No more tax money should be spent promoting government issues. It’s the people’s government and the people’s airwaves – so why not demand that, as a cost of a public-monopoly, we do not spend our tax revenues on the mainstream media. And, while we are at it, defund all public radio and television. There is absolutely no reason the government should subsidize private organizations which carry an anti-America viewpoint. We now live in an age where channels of communication are available to serve all citizens – no special organizations are necessary. The same should be done with the arts – there is absolutely no public advantage to subsidize art programs – even if they are not being used for promoting Obama’s political agenda.

Time to wake up people. It’s our money and our country. We either protect it from our enemies, both foreign or domestic, or turn into a cross between Mexico and France.

Why I am voting for Chuck DeVore ...

He may not be my perfect candidate, but he is the best we are going to see in this race against Barbara Boxer …

Let’s get something out of the way first: Chuck DeVore is a politician who was present at some of the worst behavior by his Republican party. This is mitigated by his attempt to provide alternative leadership to the party – which ended in abject failure as not a single member of his group would second his nomination during a period when the Republican Party sold out Californians to the democrats and their massive tax plan.

That being said, I am still voting for Chuck DeVore, not because he appears to be a principled conservative, but because the behavior of the leading candidates to replace Barbara Boxer, who I despise as a stupid, vain and corrupt politician, are so much worse.

Carly Fiorina: Dirty tricks and suspect business background …

There is Carly Fiorina who is nothing more than a bay area liberal who is out to extend her ego-driven brand. Far from the successful business leader she portrays in her commercials, I see an executive who is plagued with a poor record of achievement and questionable behavior. Her last stunt, or should I say “dirty trick” was to portray Chuck DeVore’s reserve military service as somehow dishonorable.  Attempting to smear him as Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal was smeared over his Viet Nam comments. Unfortunately, DeVore did no such thing and we can plainly see that Carly Fiorina is devoid of character.

Tom Campbell: Muslim Sympathizer?

The other significant candidate in the race is a professional politician with more than a taint of being a pro-Muslim/terrorist sympathizer. There is no way that I would vote for this man on the grounds that his decisions relative to national defense were severely compromised by his personal philosophy. Yes, he did write a letter in support of a prominent Muslim who has been jailed for providing material support to terrorists. It’s not the letter that I object to. It is having a staff member with ties to terrorist organizations on staff and that Tom Campbell appeared to be trying to subvert “secret” procedures to provide aid and comfort to a suspected terrorist on trial. You can find more about my beliefs in a blog entry I wrote: “IS TOM CAMPBELL FOR SENATE 2010 -- A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO THE USA?

Chuck DeVore wants your vote …

It appears that DeVore does not have the money, at least for the primary race, to spend on media consultants, mass mailings and television advertising. Instead, DeVore has put himself out there – traveling the State seeking support, answering any and all questions and, in general, being more available and open than the other two candidates who are attempting to tightly manage both their media campaigns and public appearances.

Yes, I am worried about Chuck DeVore being able to beat Barbara Boxer …

What makes primary races different from the general election is that it is an opportunity to test a candidates ability to resonate with the people, raise the necessary funding to pursue a well-run campaign and to gather the endorsements of prominent and powerful people. Should the candidate leap this hurdle, then – at least in theory – the party and the special interests will fall in line and provide the additional support that was lacking in the primary campaign. That is, if and only if, the candidate wins.

I am not about to blow smoke up your ass by telling you that Chuck DeVore can win the primary or has a better shot at defeating Barbara Boxer. I just don’t know and it is not a foregone conclusion. I worry about his name recognition, the apparent lack of finances and his taint as a “sitting politician.” But he does appear to be the most principled of the three major candidates and in these perilous times, I would rather have a Chuck DeVore fighting for me than a contentious ego-maniac or somewhat with very suspicious connections to the Muslim world.

I sincerely believe that Chuck DeVore represents the best candidate for both California and the United States of America. Please consider him as a candidate when making your selection to defeat the odious and corrupt Barbara “Call me Senator” Boxer.

Obama's Financial Reform: the emperor has no clothes!

There is no doubt in my mind that the mainstream media gives Barack Obama a pass when it comes to truth-telling. Claiming that he is in “campaign mode” when he is outright lying to the American people.

Here is the substance of an e-mail I received over Barack Obama’s signature. It is filled with lies, distortions, omissions and half-truths.

What Obama is telling his supporters …

OneCitizen --

On Thursday, the Senate passed historic Wall Street reform. This movement proved again that the strongest special interests, who for so long have called the shots in Washington, can be beat.
When opponents in Congress tried to block the legislation altogether, you stood up -- and they backed down. When the lobbyists pushed for loopholes and exemptions just before a final vote, you did not relent -- and we fought them off.

Your support brought us to this day -- and, because of that, we're poised to implement sensible reforms that will provide a stronger foundation for economic growth.

Now, the House and Senate must iron out their differences before I can sign it into law. But the financial industry will not give up. They have already spent more than $1 million per member of Congress, lobbying on this issue. And in the coming days, they will go all in. This is their last shot to stall, weaken, or kill reform, and they are not accustomed to losing.
But this movement has you -- and together, we have beaten the special interests before.

Please donate $5 or more today to help Organizing for America continue to mobilize thousands -- to counter the special interests' attacks and get strong Wall Street reform to my desk.

Every American has a stake in this bill.
If you have ever been treated unfairly by a credit card company, this reform works for you -- never again will Americans be duped by fine print or hidden fees
.

If you ever try to take out a home loan or student loan, this reform works for you -- putting an end to predatory and deceptive lending practices.

And, if you or your small business relies on credit from community banks that are being punished for playing by the rules while their competitors do not, this reform works for you -- reining in the big banks and making sure all our lenders are subject to tough oversight.

These reforms would put in place the strongest consumer financial protections in history. And, by helping safeguard our economy from recklessness on Wall Street, it would ensure that a crisis like the one that caused this recession never happens again.
This is not a zero-sum game where Wall Street loses and Main Street wins. As we have learned, in today's economy, we are all connected. When the economy prospers, we all win. Senators of both parties recognize that fact, and that is why lawmakers stood up to the lobbyists and worked across the aisle to ensure that Wall Street reform passed.

But this fight is not yet over. And it is up to us to overcome this final test and pass reform into law. When we do, the power of this movement to make change in Washington -- despite the best efforts of the special interests -- will no longer be up for debate.

Please donate $5 or more today:

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Congratulations and send more money, we are fighting against the evil special interests and lobbyists …

The biggest lie is that somehow Obama, the Administration, Congressional Democrats and YOU have defeated the evil special interests who were lobbying against Obama’s financial reform initiative. This is pure and utter bullshit. It does not take a blind man to see that this is not a bi-partisan bill; with all of its provisions crafted behind closed doors by far-left and corrupt democrat ideologues such as House Financial Services Chairman Barney Frank and Senate Financial Services Chairman Chris “Friend of Angelo” Dodd. And as such, a torrent of financial campaign contribution and other lobbyist supports was directed directly at these corrupt and/or complacent democrats. The two-faced bastards took the money, made their special deals – and now have the nerve to demonize them in a communication to their followers. Do you remember ANY politician who called a news conference and announced that they were not accepting the lobbyist’s proffered help? I don’t and I don’t think you do either.

Do you really believe President Obama when he says …

When the lobbyists pushed for loopholes and exemptions just before a final vote, you did not relent -- and we fought them off.”

I don’t and neither does any other thinking taxpayer in America. The deals have been made and, as they say, the devil is in the details. Especially the new rules and regulations which will be promulgated by the Executive Branch – even as they usurp the law-making duties of Congress.

Disclosure is not regulatory reform …

As for the emotional issue of being mistreated unfairly by credit card companies, who do you think makes this possible if not the politicians who have eased-up on the definitions of usury (excessive interest), allowed credit card issuers to forum shop in the state which provides the “least regulation” on their activities. The sad fact of the matter is that these politicians never mention that their idea of regulation is to demand, DEMAND I TELL YOU, that these credit card issuers clearly state all of their terms and conditions in disclosures, in plain English. But, even though they use common words, it all comes down to a “take it or leave it situation” while they full well know that you may be unlikely to be able to pay off the full balance on your credit card and close the account. So you are screwed – and you know you are being screwed because it says it right there in government-mandated black and white.

Why not cut out the middleman and help the consumer directly?

Consider for a moment that it is this government that would not extend a loan to you at zero to one-quarter of one percent to pay off your credit card balances, but will extend this rate to credit card issuers to allow them to charge you 12-15- 19 –22% or more on the money that they have borrowed. And you will not find Barack Obama telling you that these issuers have packaged this outstanding credit card debt into derivatives and sold them to investors worldwide – just as they have done with mortgage, auto, equipment and leasing loans.

And speaking of derivatives, where is the control over the creation, rating, marketing, and trading of these very, very dangerous securities? Either watered down or missing altogether.  So much for the influence of the Wall Street Wizards and other special interests, especially those from Goldman Sachs and Citicorp.

What Obama refuses to say …

Notice they do not mention the blame that is well deserved by the government … and that most of these conditions have not been resolved by the present financial reform package.

One, congressional legislation removing the barrier which kept bank holding companies from participating in brokerage and insurance operations.

Two, congressional legislation removing the “gambling” restrictions on derivatives.

Three, congressional and administration influence in using Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as political piggybanks, employment for politicians and their special interest friends, and an instrument of liberal public policy.

And four, the failure of existing regulatory agencies to apply existing laws to wayward companies; allowing those caught behaving badly to simply pay a fine while neither admitting or denying the charging allegations.

To say that this legislative reform package “… would ensure that a crisis like the one that caused this recession never happens again, is both false and disingenuous.  This was ostensibly the very reason the Federal Reserve was formed; to prevent recessions and depressions --  and history has shown that both depressions and recessions are mostly caused by loose monetary policy followed by a tightening of the money supply.  And we are in exactly that same position today – with today’s loose monetary policy (government loans at ZERO to one-quarter of one percent) and soon to be followed by a tightening monetary supply which will also spur the growth of inflation.

There is no secret that the government will profit handsomely from inflation – paying off their enormous debts with inflated dollars. Some economists actually believe that this is already the scheme in play.

“If you ever try to take out a home loan or student loan, this reform works for you -- putting an end to predatory and deceptive lending practices.

Has anyone noticed that the Federal government has nationalized the student loan program as part of the healthcare legislation? Of course, it was a dishonest attempt to rig the healthcare accounting to include the profits from the student loan program in the healthcare accounting scheme. And as for predatory lending, which is simply defined as making a loan that is not to the borrower’s advantage, do you really think banks and lenders will be looking to see that borrowers get the best deals possible – forgoing all of that juicy (unearned) revenue stream.

Bottom line …

Just like the stimulus package, healthcare, cap-and-trade and now the financial reform package, it’s all about enhancing the Administration’s power, enlarging government, raising taxes, reducing your personal freedoms and implementing an un-American socialist agenda featuring wealth redistribution and redistributive change.

We need to restore sanity and the constitutional checks and balances envisioned by our forefathers. The commerce clause, intended to promote commerce between the states, have been used by these corrupt politicians into a restrictive and repressive tool to pursue their political agenda. Enough is Enough. Vote these bastards out, starting in November, 2010 and continuing through 2016 to insure the last of the corrupt Senators are gone.

Take care of yourself because your government is about to screw you blind – all in the name of hope and change.

UN’s latest crisis, I mean scheme ...

Now that global warming is no longer resonating with people beleaguered with financial troubles, its scientists under a cloud of suspicion and Al Gore continues to be the punch line of a number of jokes … the question remains: what will the United Nations do to divert attention away from squandered billions of taxpayer dollars and  continue to engage the media and secure funding to promote its global socialist agenda?

Instead of preventing the deaths of millions of people at the hands of murderous warlords and despots, insuring that humanitarian aid is delivered to the people and not the pockets of thugs and to promote freedom around the world … the United Nations is now making another environmental case that leverages junk science, politically-corrupted scientists and another specious hypothesis to pursue their toxic political agenda.

One look at the headlines tells it all …

Capture5-22-2010-5.02.16 PM

I do not even need to read the report to know the prescriptions to prevent this planetary catastrophe …

Increased internationalization of political control using the offices of existing international organizations such as the United Nations, World Bank and the International Court.

The need to control population growth to prevent people from outrunning the planet’s natural resources.

The need to reduce the economies of so-called industrial nations to provide parity with so-called underdeveloped nations.

The need for industrialized economies, principally the United States, to provide subsidies to un-developed or under-developed countries to assist them in boosting their standard of living, managing their energy requirements, obtaining clean water and air … and paying some for of “social justice” reparations for the damages done to these poor, unfortunate countries by the industrialized nations of the world. In other words “wealth redistribution.”

The need to research the subject further, bringing governments and research institutions into a loose confederation of goose-stepping toward a pre-ordained conclusion.

The need to enhance both school educational programs and media outreach programs so that everyone understands that there is a crisis and what role individuals can play in helping their governments to solve the problem.

In fact, these are the same prescriptions for global flu pandemics, climate change and all of the other folderol that the United Nations portrays as “planetary emergencies.”

I call bullshit …

Nature appears to take care of itself, with long-trend and short-trend self-regulating feedback loops that are not readily observable to scientists and cannot be modeled with any degree of confidence. In fact, if there is any single man-made phenomena that is readily observable, it is the manipulation of mankind by self-serving politicians who want to control the Earth’s natural resources and the output of those who labor to provide themselves with sustenance.

Why should anyone trust the United Nations?

The United Nations has been cooking the books for years. Self-serving corruption has been rampant throughout the organization and there is no rational reason to believe what they might say.

The were wrong on the population expansion which never came. It seemed that their esteemed scientists did not realize that population growth was not linear and ever-progressing, but there were limits on growth conditioned by the availability of natural resources: water, food, and shelter.

They were wrong on the growth of HIV/Aids, demanding that scientists overlook confirmatory testing and just label everyone presenting with weight loss and malaise be counted as HIV/Aids victims although the same symptoms could apply to the dysentery which is endemic in the region.

The same applies to the recent avian and swine flu outbreaks, overlooking that millions more people (mostly the young, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems) die of  regular and periodic flus than these so-called “crisis” flus.

And I do not even want to get into the charade that is global warming, especially now that we seem to be in a periodic global cooling cycle. The greatest fallacy to be foist on the people of this planet is that the natural weather cycles can be grossly influenced by man’s political or industrial activities rather than accepting that the Solar output, the Earth’s orbital path and rotational dynamics, volcanic activity, ocean currents and water vapor significantly outweigh any man-made input into the system. That the climate is cyclical and we would experience a period of warming after a period of cooling does not give rise to political solutions to alter planetary dynamics. That is, unless you were a corrupt politician seeking to plunder the planet and impose your will on the population.

Turning from the United Nations to the environmental movement …

There is no doubt in my mind that the environmental movement has been infiltrated by the same type of self-serving socialists, communists, anarchists and special interests that comprise the constituency of the United Nations.  Here we find people attempting to use our laws against ourselves to promote global socialism. It is not that I am against the good stewardship of our planet or do not enjoy uncontaminated land, air and water – it is just that these politicians seem to pander to those who are responsible for the polluting. And rather than dealing with the polluters who provide campaign funding, media attention and voter support, they would much rather tax and punish the law-abiding citizen – lest they offend those they really serve.

So what is this new crisis?

It appears that the United Nations wants to play God – deciding to overrule the natural scheme of things and artificially manage plants and animals to insure their survival – and, of course, in the process manage the political system, the financial system, the healthcare system and the people of the planet.

The United Nations is reporting …

“A new biodiversity report released today by two United Nations environmental bodies concluded that unless radical and creative action is taken quickly to conserve the variety of life on Earth, natural systems that support lives and livelihoods are at risk of collapsing.”

Crying wolf -- the United Nations seems to be following a template where they could have inserted any subject between “unless radical and creative action is taken quickly” and “natural systems that support lives and livelihoods are at risk of collapsing and the media would swallow it whole – without critical analysis or comment.

“We need a new vision for biological diversity for a healthy planet and a sustainable future for humankind,” Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon writes in the forward of the report produced by the Convention on Biological Diversity and the UN Environment Programme.”

At least he didn’t mention “social justice.”

“To tackle the root causes of biodiversity loss, we must give it higher priority in all areas of decision-making and in all economic sectors.”

But of course, we must give this a higher priority! Yeah, Right!

Based on scientific assessments, some 110 national reports and future scenarios for biodiversity, Global Biodiversity Outlook  shows that world leaders failed to deliver on their commitment to reduce the global rate of biodiversity loss by this year.”

Bullshit! The world’s scientists are continually discovering new species and their methodology for counting old species is as flawed as the failed methodologies used in tallying the world’s temperatures. I was unaware that world leaders made a commitment to reduce something they have little or no control over. Unless you are referring to efforts like those used to turn the California Condor into a free-flying exotic pet that rely on man’s intervention (feeding and medicine) in order to survive. A species which has no practical value is being preserved as a funding program for institutions and a jobs program for scientists. In fact, why not consider that these scientists should be charged with crimes against humanity for using only three matriarchal blood lines to breed Condors, thus insuring such inbreeding will produce genetic anomalies and weaken the species?

“The five principal pressures directly driving biodiversity loss – habitat change, over-exploitation, pollution, invasive alien species and climate change – are either constant or increasing in intensity, according to the report.”

The usual suspects which demand political intervention leading to greater political control, higher taxes and less personal freedoms while our enlightened leaders pander to the special interests causing the damage.

“Business as usual is no longer an option if we are to avoid irreversible damage to the life-support systems of our planet,” said Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity, calling the report ‘a wake-up call for humanity.’”

Ahmed’s assertion is not scientifically provable, and unlike the faux models which pretend to predict the climate changes based on past temperature fluctuations, there are no models or any other “proof” that Ahmed is correct. Extrapolating from other scientific papers is not the type of science that I would rely on to make public policy.

Bottom line …

Our corrupt, stupid and complacent politicians are once again running another scam scenario on the American public. I say, in these times of social and financial upheaval, that we concentrate on generating “sustainable” employment and rebuilding our damaged economy before allowing these thieving bastards to destroy more of our nation.

Leave the management of nature to God and move mankind forward to their God-given freedoms rather than support corrupt organizations like the United Nations and the present United States Congress and Administration.
