Global warming: what legislation is needed to stop this anti-climate change activity?

Not only do I want to know what legislation crafted by the United States Congress will halt this shameful assault on our global climate – but I want to know which evil energy corporations and their energy-wasting, meat-eating consumers will be surcharged to mitigate any widespread damage that is done to our planetary ecosphere? Are travelers going to be further surcharged for the monitoring and control of these flight-impacting events?

Reuters is reporting …

“A volcanic eruption in Iceland, which has thrown up a 6-km (3.7 mile) high plume of ash and disrupted air traffic across northern Europe, has grown more intense, an expert said on Thursday.”

“The eruption under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier continued to spew large amounts of ash and smoke into the air and showed no signs of abating after 40 hours of activity, said Pall Einarsson, a geophysicist at the University of Iceland".”

What no mention of the dastardly increase in that most important of greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide?

“Carbon dioxide is released when magma rises from the depths of the Earth on its way to the surface. Our studies here at Kilauea show that the eruption discharges between 8,000 and 30,000 metric tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each day. Actively erupting volcanoes release much more CO2 than sleeping ones do.” <Source|USGS>

It’s a healthcare issue too!

“Even non-explosive basaltic volcanoes (Hawaii, Iceland) can release damaging quantities of pollutants in the form of ‘vogâ,’ or volcanic smog.  The Hawaii volcano observatory has recently issued warnings for sulfur dioxide emissions and restricted access to areas around Kilauea.  The 1783 Icelandic basalt eruption resulted in emission of over 100 tons of SO2 in less than 8 months- killing humans, livestock and damaging crops in both Iceland and Europe.  Gas emissions during the eruption of the Siberian traps may have caused the great Permian extinction 250 million years ago.  Volcanic SO2 emissions can range up to 10 million tonnes per day.” <Source>

It’s a continuing problem …

"The seismographs are showing that since this morning the intensity of the eruption seems to be growing."

“Another scientist said the eruption was 10 times more powerful than one which occurred last month on the flank of the volcano, though the two were part of the same event.”

“Einarsson, who described the eruption as ‘reasonably powerful,’ said it was the most significant volcanic event in Iceland since a huge eruption in 1996, when an eruption under the Grimsvotn lakes led to widespread flooding.”

“He said scientists were still concerned the ongoing eruption could trigger Mt Katla, a more powerful volcano nearby covered by a thicker ice sheet, but had not picked up any clear signs of brewing activity.”

Action at last …

US Senate climate bill to be unveiled April 26

The legislative language to be sketched out in 11 days, according to government and environmental sources, is being drafted by Democratic Senator John Kerry, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and independent Senator Joseph Lieberman. <Source>

Lindsey Graham, the new Republican collaborator/turncoat to replace his BFF, the aging John McCain, is in the forefront of selling out the United States to the socialist/communist-infiltrated far-left environmental movement. Will they mandate meatless Mondays like that being considered by the liberals in San Francisco? Will their be fines and jail time for not complying with energy restrictions? Or as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says, “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.” Especially since the bill is like to be over 1000+ pages – which nobody will read nor understand; least of all those who are voting it into law.

Bottom line …

Even though carbon dioxide from volcanic sources may be quite insignificant when measured against other CO2-emitting sources, that has never stopped those pushing public policy on the back of science from claiming spinning the news and claiming that their computer models produce realistic scenarios of a planetary catastrophe.

Like all natural phenomena, I believe we should continue to study nature and prepare to adapt to whatever nature may throw our way. Truth is that climate appears to be cyclical and we do not know the frequency, maxima or minima amplitude of these events. Nor do we know exactly where in the cycle we might be. It is theoretically possible that we are seeing ourselves at the tail end of a warming event which was preceded by an ice age and which may very well be followed by another ice age.

However, lest you become alarmed, the global time scales for these events are so large as to be inconsequential to public policy. But for the politicians, never having to produce proof of their position nor measurement of their progress presents the perfect opportunity to increase the size of government, enlarge its effects on its citizens, raise taxes and restrict personal freedoms. All-in-all, a very bad thing … and all based on overly-hyped computer models with their questionable assumptions and highly manipulated data.

We need to stop these liberals from subverting the Constitution of the United States, curb their wild spending on behalf of the special interests, stop them from enlarging government, raising taxes and curtailing personal freedoms. We need to vote these people out of office in November or face the dreaded prospect of turning into a socialist Europe – controlled by the politicians, organized crime and the unions; which some think are all one in the same.

What legislation will stop the volcanic activity that is reminiscent of the toxic gas emanating from Congress?
