States get more time to comply with Real ID

“The Obama administration will abandon a Dec. 31 deadline for states to tighten security requirements for driver's licenses, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced Friday.”

Does anyone notice, or even care, that the democrats have proven that they are soft on terrorism and will do everything in their power to avoid any legislation which could be used to identify illegal aliens and tighten election procedures to reduce the amount of election fraud – the very type of election fraud perpetrated by ACORN on behalf of the democrats?

“Delaying the requirement, which faces opposition from governors and Senate Republicans over how it should be implemented, jeopardizes an immigration and security measure adopted after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. But it also removes concerns that tens of thousands of holiday travelers could have been subjected to heightened airport security checks if they lacked the new licenses.”

“Under a controversial 2005 domestic security program passed by Congress and known as Real ID, states were required to issue more secure licenses by the end of 2009. Those would be the only licenses accepted by federal officials for such purposes as boarding commercial aircraft. Instead, states now have until May 11, 2011, to comply with Real ID, Napolitano said.”

The democrats believe that terrorism is not a military issue and that terrorists should be prosecuted in federal courts by civilian lawyers. 

The democrats are attempting to subvert the Real ID requirements by putting out their own initiative called PASS ID which has less stringent requirements.

For the civil libertarians who oppose REAL ID on the basis that it’s data exchange provisions creates a “national identification card,” please consider what the Obama Administration is doing with its healthcare initiative which mandates EVERYONE – man, women,children, legal, illegal, etc. – have insurance and be entered into a government database. And that additional health, employment and financial information be tracked. NOW THAT’S BIG BROTHER and it proves that REAL ID is a straw-man argument.

“After opponents fought the Bush administration to a standstill, Obama security officials and governors jointly asked Congress last spring to replace Real ID with a new program called Pass ID, which would cost half as much, be less stringent and come with federal grants.”

“That plan would give states five years to include in their IDs a digital photograph and machine-readable features such as a bar code. It would also require states to verify applicants' identities and legal status by checking federal immigration, Social Security and State Department databases and original birth certificate records.”

“It would add stronger privacy controls than contained in the Real ID program and drop a demand for new databases.”

“Supporters hoped the year-end deadline would push Congress to approve Pass ID. But opponents refused to yield, with some Republicans accusing the administration of gutting the earlier plan and backsliding on security. Privacy groups continue to fight what they have called a ‘Real ID-lite.’"

Bottom line …

The democrats are preparing to track each and every person in the United States – without suitable systemic safeguards and with little or no penalties for the misuse of this information for political or commercial purposes.

It appears that you cannot have security and safety within the United States without honest brokers to insure that the government does not subvert protection to pursue their own political ideology. One that resists identifying illegal aliens and controlling the voting process.

Truth-be-told, our present democrat-run government doesn’t care about the safety and security of the United States or they would be proposing a reform of the social security numbering system which has been compromised by illegal aliens and identity thieves. It is time to elect honest brokers who recognize the sovereignty of the United States and who will defend this country and its constitution from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.
