Obama: Whining about Bush legacy ... what will history prove?

Say all you will about former President Bush, but you never questioned his patriotism or his love for America …

You could say that he seemed detached and unwilling to engage with the public or the media. You could say that he appointed incompetent advisors based on cronyism. You could say that his spending policies were outrageous. And you would be right. But you could not question his patriotism or his love for his country. And he certainly was not a whiner, taking unprecedented abuse and disdain from both the public and the media with good-natured “it’s part of being President” affect.

Whining …

Reuters is reporting …

“One year on, Obama cites struggle with Bush legacy”

“A year after his historic election, President Barack Obama sought to remind Americans on Wednesday the biggest problems he is grappling with -- from the economy to the war in Afghanistan -- are the legacy of his predecessor, George W. Bush.”

Why, you might ask, did Barack Obama keep many of the Bush policies and some of the Bush advisors in place? And while you are asking questions, since when did George Bush allow the Congress to draft his bills – presenting outrageous legislation which sought to subvert the very nature of the United States with a healthcare bill that was not about preserving and extending the health of Americans and an energy bill that was not about energy independence. Legislative initiatives that were designed to obtain and maintain political control over America by a party which has resulted in chaos, confusion and corruption in every venue it touches.

“With his approval ratings down from once-lofty levels and Tuesday's Democratic election losses raising questions about his political clout, Obama held no special ceremony to mark the anniversary of his election as America's first black president.”

Don’t think we didn’t also notice that Barack Obama did not intend to participate in the anniversary of the demolition of the Berlin Wall and the defeat of cold-war Communism. And don’t think we didn’t notice that the Norwegian Nobel Committee bestowed a Nobel Peace Prize on a person with absolutely no accomplishment while overlooking a true hero deserving of the Prize, Ronald Reagan.

The TelePrompTer President shielded by the media …

“He instead traveled to Wisconsin to appear before a friendly audience in a school gymnasium and promote education as a pillar of his economic recovery efforts.”

Instead of grappling with important issues such as troop allocation in Afghanistan – a war he pronounced as being the “right war” and headed by his hand-picked generals, Obama retreated behind the skirts of the media and delivered one of his famous “tightly controlled messages” to a friendly audience – including the sycophantic media who checked their balls at the door.

Whoops: America wakes up and discovers that this is not the change that they were expecting and the hope they were sold on the campaign trail …

“Obama was elected on a promise of sweeping change after eight years under Bush, but many Americans are increasingly expressing impatience that his pledge has yet to bear fruit.”

The American people voted against Bush, they did not vote for the destruction of capitalism and the institution of European style socialism. The did not vote to have the President fill the White House with political thugs from Chicago and radical activists that include self-described Marxists and communists.

What successes?

“He used the preamble of his speech to insist his administration had indeed had important successes and also to remind Americans of the litany of daunting challenges he inherited when he took office in January.”

"One year ago, Americans all across this country went to the polls and cast ballots for the future they wanted to see," Obama said.

“But he said his administration was also confronted with a ‘financial crisis that threatened to plunge our economy into a Great Depression, the worst that we've seen in generations’."

A financial crisis made worse by those who created the original crisis in the first place. A crisis prolonged by those who eventually admitted that they pulled the funding numbers out of their ass – with no factual basis. A crisis being managed by those who are insuring that the friends that they left in the financial sector are profiting mightily.

"’We had record deficits, two wars, frayed alliances around the world,’ Obama added.”

Let’s review: he is enlarging the deficits with spending packages laden with pork even after he promised there would be no more pork; enlarging the deficits with a healthcare and cap-and-trade initiative that threatens to bankrupt America. Frayed alliances? The dictators to which he panders seem to recognize that he is a empty suit, a paper tiger. Obama is the appeasement candidate. Willing to say or do anything to create a media image. But then again, perhaps he admires these dictators and thugs who are pursuing a leftist agenda?

“He said his administration had acted swiftly to save the economy from ‘imminent collapse.’”

The recovery was underway when he took office and that the “imminent collapse” he mentions was not as severe as portrayed and that the real crisis was more about saving the big firms in Wall Street rather than letting the smaller firms grow to take up the slack.

"’While we still have a long way to go, we have made meaningful progress toward achieving that goal,’ he said.”

I call bullshit! The housing market, underpinning much of our financial system and our jobs market underpinning our economy have not improved. In fact, the stimulus that they passed to avoid job loss – has already been proven a failure with even higher job losses than they anticipated. It was government, with a loose monetary policy and lack of regulatory oversight that created the financial crisis which burdens us all and threatens to destroy the economic underpinning of America.

“Nine months into his term, Obama's Republican critics have accused him of overplaying the ‘blame card’ against Bush, a Republican who left office with one of the lowest poll ratings of any modern president.”

True enough and well-deserved. President Obama remains and empty suit, picking and choosing among advisors who will be thrown under the bus when, not if, they fail.

“Obama has seen his own approval numbers fall to the 50 percent range from above 70 percent as he struggles to push through a healthcare overhaul, reverse massive job losses and decide whether to send more troops to an increasingly unpopular war in Afghanistan.”

Again I call bullshit. It is not a healthcare overhaul – it is the destruction of the current healthcare system which is serving 85% of Americans in favor of a system which gives him political control and the ability to extend healthcare to illegal aliens. His administration is fudging the numbers by including mythical “saved jobs” which cannot be proven or measures – and under scrutiny, his job successes are much less than advertised. Let us not forget: the Afghan war is Obama’s war – the right war as he claimed during his continual campaigning.

The Americans are waking up and are horrified with what they see …

“He took another hit to his political standing on Tuesday when voters elected Republicans in state governors' races in Virginia and New Jersey despite his personal campaigning for the Democratic candidates. The White House denied the election losses were in any way a referendum on the president.”

Bottom line …

History will determine whether Obama is a hero or a zero. Myself, I think that he is the Dorian Gray of Perpetual Campaigning … forever promising, never delivering.

Time to make up your mind how the country is going and what the Obama Administration’s end game will be …

Be well, be safe and take care of yourself and your family first.
