Swine Flu: WHO can you trust -- another "phony" United Nations crisis in the making?
There is no doubt in my mind that the United Nations will do or say anything to benefit their organization, increase their political influence, secure additional funding and grab the media’s attention. Somewhat like that other far-left liberal organization, the democrat party, and its Rahm Emanuel prescriptive: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste and what I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things you didn't think you could do before.”
In Rahm’s own words …
Enter the WHO – the UN’s World Health Organization …
According to the Associated Press …
“WHO predicts 'explosion' of swine flu cases”
“The global spread of swine flu will endanger more lives as it speeds up in coming months and governments must boost preparations for a swift response, the World Health Organization said Friday.”
“There will soon be a period of further global spread of the virus, and most countries may see swine flu cases double every three to four days for several months until peak transmission is reached, said WHO's Western Pacific director, Shin Young-soo.”
"At a certain point, there will seem to be an explosion in case numbers," Shin told a symposium of health officials and experts in Beijing. "It is certain there will be more cases and more deaths."
Are the numbers to be believed …
This is not the first time that the United Nations has been caught cooking the books. They did it with mistaken assumptions of linear population growth projections and they did it with HIV/AIDS – in both cases predicting dire consequences using their inflated numbers and requesting more money to combat the effects of these phony projections. And I need not remind you about the UN’s global climate change predictions which are beyond the pale.
Pulling back the curtains: here is how they are going to accomplish this slight-of-hand …
As reported by the Los Angeles Times …
“WHO will urge most countries to stop H1N1 testing”
“The group will recommend that nations move away from the burdensome job of confirming flu cases and just assume the virus is the culprit.”
“As the World Health Organization prepares to recommend that most countries simply assume its flu cases are due to the novel H1N1 flu virus, officials are seeing the first signs of resistance to the commonly used antiviral drug Tamiflu -- although none that are particularly disturbing yet.”
“Meanwhile, the virus is continuing its spread through the Northern Hemisphere this summer -- even though flu viruses normally don't spread well in hot weather -- and its effect is escalating in the southern half of the globe, where it is the traditional winter flu season.”
Thus, it appears, that the reported numbers, especially in underdeveloped countries will be conflated and enlarged by the cases of the normally reoccurring flu seasons that normally plague (pun intended) us all.
The story is never complete without a mention of money …
Continuing with the Associated Press coverage …
“Delegates from Bangladesh and Myanmar appealed for help in procuring vaccines or making them more affordable for poorer countries, saying they were left vulnerable while rich nations pre-ordered most of the available stock.”
"’Developing countries like us, we have to fight this war without vaccines,’ said Mya Oo, deputy health minister of Myanmar. He urged pharmaceutical companies to consider selling the vaccines to developing countries at just above cost.”
It should be noted that the leadership of many of the underdeveloped countries is corrupt and that humanitarian aid is often diverted to the black market in exchange for hard currency or provided to the military, friends of the government and to those who are most wealthy in the country. It should also be noted that the United States, reviled by most of these countries, is often the first to step up and provide aid to the sick and suffering.
“WHO's flu chief, Keiji Fukuda, said the agency was working hard on the issue, and noted that two drug makers had pledged to donate 150 million doses of vaccine to poorer countries by the end of October. He said more research was needed to determine how vaccines will be priced.”
A perspective …
“The last pandemic — the Hong Kong flu of 1968 — killed about 1 million people. Ordinary flu kills about 250,000 to 500,000 people each year.”
It should be noted that most of the deaths occurred within the most vulnerable populations: infants with as yet undeveloped resistance to flu, the elderly population susceptible to pulmonary distress, those with compromised immune systems – but most of all, those who live in unsanitary conditions and have little or no access to proper healthcare on a regular basis.
It never ceases to anger me that the United Nations will openly support atrocities, genocide and the behavior of despots while doing little or nothing to insure that humanitarian supplies actually reach their intended destination. It is one thing to waffle on-and-on about global climate change and not commit the same amount of time and attention to providing clean water, cleaner energy sources and decent living conditions for those living in countries where the leadership steals, not only their labor, but also humanitarian aid supplied by generous nations who sincerely want to be of assistance.
In fact, the United Nations, through its global warming initiatives, wants to curb energy production in the developing countries and thus condemn them to a substandard quality of life.
As you might perceive, I have no respect for the United Nations as an institution although I do applaud individual aid workers attempting the impossible: convincing a corrupt leadership to allow their citizens a measure of decency, human rights and access to better living.
