AARP REALLY DOESN’T WANT TO HEAR FROM SENIOR CITIZENS …
AARP TRIES TO SHAPE THE DEBATE ... WITH THEIR VERSION OF THE TRUTH -- IS AARP SCREWING OVER THEIR SENIOR CITIZEN MEMBERSHIP?

Pure Speculation: Did Florida Senator Mel Martinez resign to allow the appointment of Jeb Bush to the Senate – preparing for a 2012 run at the Presidency?

It is always curious why a healthy Senator, not embroiled in any “about to break” scandal resigns their office without finishing their term. Unlike Sarah Palin who was under assault by the entire democrat party, Martinez’s only apparent fault – other than being a close Bush friend – was to vote to confirm Sonia Sotomayor, a fellow Hispanic for the Supreme Court. Not exactly an earth-shattering event.

We know Martinez announced that he would not be running for re-election as a Florida Senator in 2010, so what’s up with the decision to part ways mid-term?

Perhaps to give the Florida Governor, Charlie Crist, who probably wants the job himself, a chance to appoint ex-Florida Governor Jeb Bush to the Senate.

While the mood of the country makes it unlikely that another Bush will be elected, you never can tell. Especially with Jeb. Known as the smart one that should have been elected President, Jeb’s wife is Hispanic, he knows the culture and speaks the language fluently. And since Hispanics outnumber the blacks, Jeb only needs to demonstrate the common touch that his father lacked, and the communications ability that stymied his brother.

Mel is also free to run the campaign and possibly run as a Vice President, although his time as the Secretary of HUD may work against him. His pension for secrecy and back-room legislation brought a record 40,000+ comment letters when he attempted RESPA (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act) reform.

We wait, we watch, we see and we learn.

Be well, be safe and take care of yourself and your family first.
