Obamacare: Does Obama really think the government is a partner with God in matters of life and death?

Are American citizens being asked to take Obama’s healthcare initiative on faith?

Considering that there are few implementation details in the 1000+ page draft bill – leaving a great deal of rulemaking authority to the Secretary of HHS and unnamed health czars?

Considering that this bill impacts every aspect of an individual’s life outside of healthcare – including finances and lifestyle?

Considering that this bill mandates healthcare for millions of uninsured including persons illegally in the United States – and places this burden squarely on the backs of the American taxpayer?

Considering this bill plans to provide healthcare services for these additional millions with no increase in physicians, facilities, diagnostic tools or medicine?

Considering that this bill will mean healthcare rationing or the denial of healthcare to those judged to be beyond a “best practices” approach?

Considering that NOBODY knows what the final bill may contain or if the democrats plan to push this bill through Congress without considering the 48% of the population that did not vote democrat?

It has been reported that Obama’s goal is to push through his far left activist agenda even though it might result in a one-term presidency. Perhaps he is a malignant narcissist with delusions of grandeur – a megalomaniac who believes he is doing God’s work – just like other nut jobs who hear voices?

This is scary …

There is absolutely no provision in the Constitution which would warrant our government to be this intrusive in the lives of American citizens – and the money they are using to coerce compliance with their unconstitutional mandates belongs to us – not to the government, not to its bureaucracy, not to its elected officials and not to our President.

According to Politico.com

'We are God's partners in matters of life and death'

A reader points out that President Obama's call with the rabbis today — as recorded in Rabbi Jack Moline's and other clerics' Twitter feeds — freights health care reform with a great deal of religious meaning, and veers into the blend of policy and faith that outraged liberals in the last administration.

"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Obama said, according to Moline (paging Sarah Palin...), quoting from the Rosh Hashanah prayer that says that in the holiday period, it is decided "who shall live and who shall die."

The president ended the call by wishing the rabbis "shanah tovah," or happy new year — in reference to the High Holidays a month from now.

Sounding like a preacher man ...

"President Barack Obama participated in a scripted online discussion of his health care overhaul with a friendly audience of religious voters and pastors Wednesday. It ended with him bemoaning those who bear 'false witness' against his plans — and then making a claim of his own that's been widely shown to be false." <Source>

As my 14 year old niece can tell you, there is a great deal of difference between faith and truth. Obama is flat-out lying when he tells you how the system will work because even he does not know the details. They are yet to be written into the House and Senate versions, additional amendments are yet to be attached and the bills still face the reconcilliation process. And there is no way he can know how the Secretary of HHS and the health czars are going to implement policies with the great powered ceded to them by Congress to implement the bill.

They say that the "devil is in the details" and I say that Obama is sounding more and more like the devil incarnate. A man so obsessed with pushing is socialist ideological agenda that he fails to note that he is harming America's citizens and perpetrating a great fraud on the American people.

He can continue to blame the Bush Administration and everyone else under the sun, but the truth remains, the Obama healthcare initiative proves that the cure is worse than the disease.

Stop the madness NOW …

Let your elected officials know that they will be turned out of office in the coming election cycle. What Obama is proposing is unconstitutional, illegal and immoral.

Pay Czar: By what authority?

Who says?

The federal government is limited to the powers enumerated by the United States Constitution. Those powers not held by the people are reserved for the individual states.

So by what constitutional mechanism does Kenneth Feinberg, the unelected, unvetted pay czar, have the right to set aside legal contracts and interfere with private property and legal arrangements outside of the scope of the law.

According to Reuters, “Kenneth Feinberg, the Obama administration's pay czar, said on Sunday he has broad and ‘binding’ authority over executive compensation, including the ability to ‘claw back’ money already paid, and he is weighing how and whether to use that power.”

Perhaps Feinberg is confusing the “Court of Public Opinion” with the United States Federal Court System. If any person, executive or employee, received compensation that was based on fraud, misrepresentation or other institutional slight-of-hand, the matter should be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction. And the person to bring such an action should be the United States Attorney General or one of the fifty state Attorneys General.

The mere fact that an organization received money from the federal government or that an individual’s compensation seems to violate some unwritten public sensibility is not enough to engage in unconstitutional behavior.

What is the other side of the equation?

Without ceding any authority to Feinberg, what about the other side of the equation. What was an executive’s or employee’s impact on the bottom line? How much did this individual contribute to the overall organizational performance in spite of the fact that another part of the company could be deeply underwater? Why should individual initiative and/or performance be penalized by the actions of other people?

Looks like socialism to me …

Are we now institutionalizing the type of socialism which seems to form the basis of unions. Rewarding seniority over merit? Making sure that someone does not earn “too much” lest they stir up political resentment among the rank and file? The democrats and the Obama Administration are all about victimhood, bifurcating the populace into groups of victims by class, race, ethnicity, country of origin and any other characteristics which could lead to political control over the disaffected.

“Feinberg told Reuters that Citigroup Inc included the contract of energy trader Andrew Hall in submissions due Friday by seven major companies still locked in the federal government's TARP Program.”

“Feinberg said he hasn't looked at Hall's contract, which reports have said could pay him as much as $100 million this year.”

"’Whether I have jurisdiction to decide his compensation or not, we will take a look and decide over the next few weeks,’ Feinberg said after speaking at a public forum in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, part of a newsmaker series hosted by the Martha's Vineyard Times newspaper.”

What law?

“Feinberg said on Sunday that decisions he makes will be ‘binding,’ but the law limits his power over contracts signed before February 11, 2009.”

“He also said he has the authority to use a ‘clawback’ provision to go after compensation for executives from any company that received money from the U.S. Treasury's Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).”

"’I have the discretion, conferred upon by Congress, to attempt to recover compensation that has already been paid to executives not only in these companies, but in any company that received federal assistance,’ Feinberg said during his remarks.”

Here I must protest …

Under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution,

“The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, protects against abuse of government authority in a legal procedure. Its guarantees stem from English common law which traces back to the Magna Carta in 1215. For instance, grand juries and the phrase ‘due process’ both trace their origin to the Magna Carta.”

“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.” <Source>

Certainly money taken from an individual, which is his private property, cannot be taken for public use – without just compensation. So how can the pay czar’s actions be legal if he represents an extra-legal act of Congress. Just because Congress passes legislation does not automatically mean that it is fair, just, legal and constitutional.

“Asked by Reuters if he could use that ability to target a firm like Goldman Sachs Group Inc, which paid back $10 billion in bailout money, Feinberg said: ‘Anything is possible under the law.’"

"’I can claw back, but we haven't focused on that at all,’" he said.”

Under whose law?

"’There have been some tough disagreements, but everyone is trying to get to an end place in compensation that makes sense in a post-TARP world,’ Feinberg said.”

Excuse me, but did I miss some announcement that the Administration or Congress had the right to alter the compensation of private individuals working under contract for private or public organization – somehow subverting the role of the Board of Directors which has a fiduciary responsibility to the organization’s owners – be they shareholders or a single individual. Unless the company is owned by the United States and has Board representation, one would think that their powers are extremely limited or nonexistent.

Free will or will the czar mandate employees stay at the company after being subject to a forced haircut?

Will the government attempt to, once again, violate the Constitution and re-consider slavery and involuntary servitude?

“Citigroup, in particular, has concerns about pay restrictions causing its top employees to leave, Feinberg said.”

"’Citibank says if you don't pay us x or y, the going rate for our senior officials, they will leave,’ Feinberg said. ‘They will go to Goldman Sachs. They will go to JPMorgan Chase & Co. Worse, they'll go to UBS or the Royal Bank of Scotland, or foreign banks.’"

“Feinberg said the law requires him to take market forces into account, but also to consider performance and past deals between a company and an employee.”

Unlimited authority by an un-elected public official with vast discretionary powers …

"’The statute provides these guideposts, but the statute ultimately says I have discretion to decide what it is that these people should make and that my determination will be final,’ Feinberg said.”

Welcome to old-time Russia!

Complete and utter bullshit …

"’The officials can't run to the Secretary of Treasury. The officials can't run to the court house or a local court. My decision is final on those individuals,’ Feinberg added.”

The United States Constitution provides that an individual may seek redress from the egregious actions of his government and that everybody has access to a court of law to seek a remedy for injustice.

“The right to petition the government for redress of grievances is the freedom of individuals (and sometimes groups and corporations) to petition their government for a correction or repair of some form of injustice without fear of punishment for doing so. Although often overlooked in favour of other more famous freedoms and sometimes taken for granted, many other civil liberties are enforceable against the government only by exercising this basic right.” <Source>

It is now time to take back our government …

Time has proven that both political parties are manifestly corrupt and that modern politics has led to an erosion of our rights under the Constitution. To allow these politicians, on both sides of the aisle to continue to practice their version of special interest crony capitalism and to halt the spread of creeping socialism.

Our politicians have become a clear and present danger to our country and to our way of life. The system is not broken, it is being ignored. Both sides of the aisle claim they want to eliminate waste, fraud and corruption in government – and yet they do nothing, receiving tribute in the form of outrageous perks and campaign funds.

The democrats have, once again, proved they are as irresponsible as incompetent as they destroy out national infrastructure with their “politically correct” multi-cultural and morally-equivalent nonsense.

There is but one cure …

BARACK OBAMA IS A POSER ... a Trojan horse for those who want socialism!

Human nature makes it abundantly clear that in both emerging and stable societies, certain people will tend to amass power by owning resources or acting as gatekeepers to those resources.

In essence, true justice cannot exist in a system where their are inequalities of power because the powerful will always exploit the weak to create and/or maintain their advantage.

Which points to the brilliance of our founding fathers as they created a system of checks and balances.

Unfortunately, the very people needing the protection of these checks and balances, whether through complacency or corruption have ceded power to a single political entity which now threatens to circumvent those checks and balances.

Even the mainstream media, arguably granted special privileges to protect those who “speak truth to power,” have sacrificed their journalistic ethics in favor of corporate masters who appear to be selling journalistic favors in return for corporate support.

Obama, presented by his handlers and the media as a new-age, post-partisan and post-racial politician who will serve as a uniter rather than a divider, is now exposed as the emperor without clothes. Surrounded by a cadre of political operatives trained in systemic manipulation. Some for a political ideology. Some for self-interest enrichment. And some because they believe in a “non-existent” cause.

One need only look around and see what this corrupt Administration has achieved.

They have purchased political support from corporations with special favors, privileges and the taxpayer’s money.

They have purchased political support from institutions with special favors, privileges and the taxpayer’s money.

They have purchased political support from community organizers and activists with special favors, privileges and the taxpayer’s money.

They have purchased political support from the media by granting selective access to those in powerful position.

And they are busy attempting to purchase votes from the illegal aliens, the normally disenfranchised and those who want even greater entitlements.

They have attempted to control the entire economy of the United States by controlling the financial sector and the underpinnings of production with their stimulus programs, and “cap and trade” legislation. And now they are attempting to control each individual life with their healthcare initiative.

And for those who believe that only the democrats are to blame, consider that the other side of the aisle has sat idly by while this is all happening. Showing no leadership. No major opposition. And apparently sharing in spoils.

Words of wisdom from Ronald Reagan in 1961 …

One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project.

… Most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who can’t possibly afford it.

In Reagan’s own words  -- hear his entire speech …

Obama and his minions …

They demonize the insurance companies, the drug companies. The demonize you as a racist, a rube, a yahoo and a hick. And that’s all they can do – they can’t explain their proposition, they refuse to debate it – so they demonize the opposition.

Can we allow this to happen? I think not. Therefore, there is but one answer …

Government and media continue to misrepresent the healthcare argument …

Want to see government and media manipulation up close and personal?

Only in an Orwellian world where up is down, wrong is right and evil is good … can the government proclaim that Obama’s healthcare option contains a “public option.”

Totally misleading …

  • it is conceived by the government;
  • it is legislated by the government;
  • it is funded by the government; and
  • it is managed by the government;

so why is it not called the “government” option!

  • Because the government is now engaged in trying to create a healthcare crisis where none really exists.
  • Because the government is now demanding that the legislation be rushed through the Congress without allowing people to thoroughly understand what is really contained in the bill.
  • Because it allows the Secretary of HHS and unnamed czars unlimited power to re-define the healthcare program with administrative rules, regulations and requirements that bypass Congress.
  • And because when it is called the “public option,” people are confused – and when it is called the “government option” they are dead set against it.

Stop this government madness …

If there “experts” can’t control the waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare, what hope is there that they can manage this new healthcare initiative?

How many uninsured people are in the United States and how many deserve to be covered?

In today’s healthcare debate, we see President Barack Obama and members of Congress claiming that there are approximately 46 million people uninsured in the United States. So I was curious to find the real number – or at least the best approximation of the operative number.

For an approximate answer which can be relied upon for purposes of making public policy, we turn to the United States Census Bureau and a report issued in August, 2008 …

Capture8-17-2009-8.04.32 PM

According to the U.S. Census Bureau …

32.920 million uninsured citizens

09.737 million uninsured foreign nationals

For a combined total of 45.657 million total uninsured people in the United States.

So, roughly 1/3 of the uninsured people are illegal aliens. Which begs the question, why are they being counted if they are illegal – unless that is, the Obama Administration plans to provide them with citizenship and taxpayer paid entitlements in order to secure their vote for the democrats.

Even this number is suspect as other estimates of the number of illegal aliens in the United States ranges from 12 – 20 million based on the sampling methodology employed.

These numbers exclude people who are eligible for social security.

So let’s ask some good questions of our politicians based on our findings …

  • If the present Medicare system is broken and/or fraught with waste, fraud, corruption and abuse, why wouldn’t the government make the reform of this system a major priority; both to contain costs and render superior service to the seniors who have paid into this system over their lifetime and who are relying on it to serve their medical needs?
  • Why would the Administration and Congress destroy the existing healthcare system which services approximately 85% of the public in order to serve an additional 33 million uninsured citizens?
  • Wouldn’t it make sense to extend the present system to cover the additional uninsured rather than destroy the current system and impose an unknown and untested system which is currently ill-defined and cedes a great deal of regulatory power to the Secretary of Health and Human Services and various unnamed health czars?
  • How can we expand the current system without expanding the number of physicians, facilities, diagnostic tools and medicines to cover the additional uninsured?
  • And if we maintain the status quo in terms of physicians, facilities and diagnostic tools, doesn’t that demand prioritization of services by rationing healthcare or extending the amount of waiting time until services become available?

And these are but the basic questions that should come to mind in any discussion. Forget politics and concentrate on both human nature and the laws of supply and demand.

But my most important questions are saved for last …

  • Why would we accept a democrat program whose foundation is based on managing scarcity and politically manipulating outcomes rather than expand our healthcare delivery system to accommodate additional others? Are we Americans not the richest, smartest and most ingenious people on the face of the planet?
  • Why would the democrats, often referred to as the party of lawyers, refuse to contain the costs of the present system by enacting “tort reform” which will reduce the massive and outlandish payments which force doctors to maintain outrageous amounts of insurance coverage?
  • Why would the democrats, who are so quick to demonize the insurance industry, refuse to allow for national competition; allowing insurance pools to spread risks across all of the fifty states?
  • Why would the democrats not legislate that individuals who can afford healthcare premiums not be allowed to access employer “pool rates?” And why are COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) after-employment continuation healthcare insurance rates outrageously larger than the amount paid by the combined employer/employee when employed?

My conclusions …

The Obama Administration and democrat Congress want to gain and maintain political power over Americans by using healthcare to control their finances and access to healthcare. Inserting government into every major life circumstance and decision.

The Obama Administration and democrat Congress want to continue their pattern of extorting campaign funds and voter support from special interest lobbyists who are complicit in writing the democrat healthcare initiative.

The Obama Administration and democrat Congress, aided an abetted by the republicans across the aisle have no intention on turning their back on the financial, healthcare and insurance industries as they continue to seek special privileges and pricing to rape both the American individual and the Treasury of the United States of America.

There are solutions to the current somewhat “manufactured” health crisis. These solutions can provide  cost-effective healthcare to the entire United States. But it must start somewhere. And I suggest that we start by eliminating waste, fraud, corruption and incompetence – starting with an Administration and Congress that speaks out of both sides of their mouths.

Face the ultimate fact: both the democrats and the republicans claim they want to cut costs and insure everyone – but yet waste, fraud and corruption is still present in the system. Because it is an inescapable fact that they want it there to further exploit the political system for their personal and professional advantage.

General Electric …

Consider the impact of General Electric, a major supplier of healthcare diagnostic equipment, which was accused by the Securities and Exchange Commission of cooking their books and reporting false and misleading information to their shareholders, the investment community and their government regulators.

“The Securities and Exchange Commission today filed civil fraud and other charges against General Electric Company (GE), alleging that it misled investors by reporting materially false and misleading results in its financial statements.” <Source: SEC>

Without admitting guilt and no apparent prosecution from wrongdoing, GE has offered to settle the charge by paying the SEC $50 million. So in exchange for their plea deal, why not take $50 million worth of diagnostic equipment (at cost) and expand the healthcare rendered in backwater locations which would never hope to see such sophisticated equipment? It should be noted that this amount is not coming from the bonuses of the executives who were overseeing GE or the Board Member’s per diem – it’s coming directly from the shareholders and being paid into the black hole we call government.

Again, illustrating yet another example of a corrupt and complicit Administration using the system for their own advantage. There is but one solution to get their attention.

The taxpayer’s/citizen’s term limit act …

Capture2-11-2009-6.54.19 PM

We need to reign in an out of control government: phony stimulus bills with 90% of the money waiting to be spent in the 2010 election year. A “cap and trade” system which will allow the government to control the energy which drives our economy – all based on easily-refuted science. And a manufactured healthcare crisis that will move America closer to socialism.

No thanks. I gave at the office! Use the comment area below or the e-mail link under my picture to tell me what you think. Am I right or wrong? Am I making a mistake?

Arabs and democrats: the real stumbling block to peace in the Middle East …

Unfortunately, no matter how rich we believe the Arab nations to be, the reality is that the wealth of those undemocratic nations resides with their rulers and their cronies. The concept of public wealth or the people’s ownership of the nation’s assets is not recognized by despots and dictators who far often than not deny their citizens the basic human rights.

Which makes a perpetual state of disagreement a fundamental part of their internal politics – as a reason for the actions of the rulers. In some cases, thuggish behavior and the respect for force is more powerful than diplomacy and will continue far into the future.

An prime example of why peace in the Middle East is not forthcoming …

How is it that a nation, any nation, would be allowed to engage in blackmail and extortion in order to pursue its own political agenda?

Here the Arabs are holding out the possibility of recognizing Israel to achieve their political agenda. A promise which is bogus considering the religious fervor in the region, the decades-long teaching that Jews are infidels and which must be killed and the need to have some bogeyman to allow the rulers to redirect any animosity toward the ruling cabal to an external source. To believe that things will be different if Israel, once again agrees to weaken its protections in favor of a specious peace offering is to deny the reality of the region.

Reuters is reporting …

“Mubarak: Arabs won't recognize Israel until after peace deal”

“Arab states will be willing to recognize and normalize ties with Israel only after a just and comprehensive Middle East peace is achieved, but not before, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said on Monday. Mubarak, in Washington for talks with the U.S. administration, told the al-Ahram daily that the Arab experience with stalled peace talks in the wake of the 1991 Madrid peace conference ‘did not encourage’ taking steps towards normalization with Israel.”

The path to peace is relatively simple …

The Arabs need to recognize Israel’s right to exist and mandate that all aggression directed towards Israel will be harshly suppressed.  After a suitable exchange of diplomats and a period of calm, both sides can begin to develop mutually acceptable solutions which are beneficial to the region’s inhabitants – most of who live in the constant fear of being the object of a terror attack.

What is not negotiable needs to be recognized up front. There will be no Arab right of repatriation and access to Israeli citizenship. To do so would mean the instantaneous creation of new citizens which could simply vote the “o;d” government out and a “new” government in. Tantamount to the demographic bombing of Israel to take over Israeli lands.

Note: The United States faces the same situation with respect to the Mexicans pouring over the Southern Border and who are increasing their political support in California and elsewhere. Where it is only a matter of time until they “breed” existing citizens out of power.

Also, not negotiable is providing any further land which could serve as a forward fire base for terrorism and thus compromise Israel’s security.

The United States’ Role in the Middle East …

While we should serve as honest brokers and promote such peace efforts on behalf of the respective parties – and not to win Obama a much-coveted Nobel Peace Prize like Jimmy Carter – the United States could do much to solve the problems in the region by becoming energy independent and not funneling prodigious amounts of power and funding to the region. Money which is used for purchasing more and more arms – sold by willing American, French, Chinese, Russian and South African countries. By going nuclear and generating relatively green energy in a cost-effective manner, we reduce the inducements for terror in the Middle East and can allow them to live in any chosen lifestyle if they want.

But … it has been the democrats and their environmentalist friends who have always blocked a rational energy policy in the United States – based on their toxic political ideology.

Removing the socialist democrat influence from the equation is not only good for the United States, but will be good for the Middle East – and by extension – the world.

Obama: playing politics with healthcare and bargaining away your rights for a political win?

There is no doubt in my mind that President Barack Obama is a corrupt politician, bred out of the political cesspools of Chicago – and who is willing to say or do anything to secure additional power and to make himself look good.

So what does it mean when a far-left website, the Huffington Post, exposes a deal between the special interests and the White House in a quid-pro-quo effort that is adverse to the interests of all American citizens?

In this case, the Pharmaceutical industry has allegedly received certain assurances from the White House that they would be protected against cost containment efforts in exchange for a bogus $80 billion credit. Something that can be widely touted by the Obama Administration as a great win – even if that win comes at the expense of the American public.

When the light is on, the cockroaches take cover …

Now that the details of such a quid-pro-quo deal have come to light, the lobbyists and the Administration are now claiming that there was no deal, this is a draft document and all of the other dodges that they use to give themselves plausible deniability. All while unnamed sources are reportedly confirming the deal between the White House and the Pharmaceutical lobby.

Per the Huffington Post, here are some of the provisions in this agreement:

The deal, as outlined in the memo:

Commitment of up to $80 billion, but not more than $80 billion.

1. Agree to increase of Medicaid rebate from 15.1 - 23.1% ($34 billion)

2. Agree to get FOBs done (but no agreement on details -- express disagreement on data exclusivity which both sides say does not affect the score of the legislation.) ($9 billion)

3. Sell drugs to patients in the donut hole at 50% discount ($25 billion) This totals $68 billion

4. Companies will be assessed a tax or fee that will score at $12 billion. There was no agreement as to how or on what this tax/fee will be based.

Total: $80 billion

In exchange for these items, the White House agreed to:

1. Oppose importation

2. Oppose rebates in Medicare Part D

3. Oppose repeal of non-interference

4. Oppose opening Medicare Part B

What does this mean …

"Non-interference" is the industry term for the status quo, in which government-driven price negotiations are barred. In other words, the government is "interfering" in the market if it negotiates lower prices. The ban on negotiating was led through Congress in 2003 by then-Rep. Billy Tauzin (R-La.), who is now the head of PhRMA.

The rebates reference is to Medicare overpayments Big Pharma managed to wrangle from the Republican Congress that Democrats are trying to recoup. The House bill would require Big Pharma to return some of that money. The rebate proposal would save $63 billion over ten years, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The White House, given the chance, declined to tell the Wall Street Journal for a July 17th article that it supported the effort to pursue the rebates.

The Medicare Part B item refers to "infusion drugs," which can be administered at home. If they fall under Part B, Big Pharma gets paid more than under Part D. The agreement would leave infusion drugs in Part B.

In the section on Big Pharma's concessions, "FOBs" refers to follow-on biological drugs. Democrats have pushed to make it easier to allow generic drug makers to produce cheaper versions of such drugs, an effort Big Pharma has resisted. The Senate health committee bill gives drug makers 12 years of market exclusivity, five more than the White House proposed.

Politics as usual … or something more sinister?

Could such collusive agreements, if proved to be authentic and executed with the express knowledge of the President of the United States, rise to the status of “high crimes and misdemeanors” for defrauding the public out of substantial sums of money and violating the trust and faith that is implicit in one’s Oath of Office?

It is one thing to push cost containment on the backs of senior citizens using a “best practices” protocol which merges statistical outcome probabilities with denial of payments for procedures and drugs – while it is quite another thing to allow an industry, any industry, to artificially maintain high pricing  to preserve their profit margins; especially to the detriment of American citizens.

Something happened …

In spite of denials by the White House and other parties to the alleged transaction, according to the Huffington Post …

“The new uncertainty surrounding the deal comes after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has repeatedly said that her chamber is not bound by any agreement it is not a party to. On July 8th, the day after the Journal reported some elements of the deal, Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) said in a public speech that his committee would not be tied down by the agreement.”

… and it stinks to high heaven!

The Obamacare program was negotiated by the democrats, behind closed doors and is incomplete at the present time. Only draft copies with paragraph headers sketching the broadest of concepts is being passed around. A great deal of the power resides with Agency Secretaries and un-elected czars who will be responsible to crafting the exact rules and regulations that will implement the program. Combine this unknowability with large documents that nobody reads – and can hardly understand, and you have a prescription (pun intended) for disaster.

The evidence is now clear …

President Barack Obama, a telegenic, well-spoken actor lacks any real experience or ability to lead this nation. Whether on foreign or domestic issues, Obama uses an almost religious-like rhetoric that is oratorically pleasing as a performance, but one which is completely devoid of details.

The mainstream media, who did not properly vet Obama, is now responsible for a President who is slowly crumbling under the pressure of national and international events. His political philosophy, based on bare-knuckles corrupt Chicago politics and socialist community organizing tactics is producing a toxic brew which is slowly inflaming the citizens of the United States, be they democrats, independents or republicans.

We the people are now in trouble …

We thought that the Bush Administration was bad, with its bumbling efforts at communicating with the American people and its crony capitalism which brought about a national financial disaster, but we are now facing something much worse.

A socialist coup d'état which is destroying America with a proposed “cap and trade system” to curtail the effectiveness of the economy and a “healthcare” system which will exert control over every citizen in America.

We cannot let this stand. We must take action. First in 2010 and then in 2012 …

Capture2-11-2009-6.54.19 PM

It’s the only way – when we have politicians who are acting in their own personal and professional self-interest instead of representing “we the people,” it is time for citizen-imposed term limits. Kick the bastards out of office. Send them a message. NO MORE! No more profligate spending on behalf of the special interests. No more spending to buy votes. No more supporting cockamamie and toxic programs which do little or nothing to help the average American. No more phony crisis pitches.

Be well, be safe and take care of yourself and your family first.

Obama: Will he demand that Congress pass "an" insurance bill to avoid being embarrassed!

It appears the Obama Administration and Congress are willing to become extremely flexible in retreat ...

According to the Associated Press ...

"President Barack Obama's administration signaled on Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run health insurance as part of his ambitious health care proposal."

"Facing mounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left open the chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include health insurance cooperatives. Such a concession is likely to enrage his liberal supporters but could deliver Obama a much-needed win on a top domestic priority opposed by GOP lawmakers."

According to the Associated Press ...

" Key senators are excluding a provision on end-of-life care from health overhaul legislation after language in a House bill caused a furor."

"Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa, top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, said in a statement Thursday that the provision had been dropped from consideration because it could be misinterpreted or implemented incorrectly."

Plan B ...

Rather than be seen as a failure, the democrats are already talking about seeking to pass a weakened healthcare  insurance bill to avoid embarrassment to the party and the president; the equivalent of Clinton bombing an unimportant “aspirin factory” to avoid being seen as a failure.

The question of the democrats pursuing vanity legislation for appearances sake highlights their failure as a political party and as representatives of “we the people.”

The charade …

Perhaps the bill will be minimally disruptive of the existing insurance marketplace or maybe it will demand that “pre-existing conditions” be accepted; thus raising the price of insurance to all citizens?

Why would Obama sign such a bill?

Why would any President that is said to be “of the people” accept such a charade from his party. The answer is simple: President Obama is a mythical creation of his handlers and the media and is the ultimate triumph of style over substance. A classic example of failing upward. He needs to look heroic – to strike a classic pose. Perhaps to distract from the fact that he wants to be the historic leader who brought socialism to America and forever changed the political landscape.

Consider what was being offered …

The democrats attempted to pass a bill which was little more than a set of paragraph headers expressing lofty goals and minimal direction. All of the real implementation details were not contained within the 1,000-page plus bill but were ceded to various administration secretaries and un-elected and unaccountable czars. No one knew what was contained in the actual bill.

Forget about the legislators not reading the bill which was dropped on their desks in the early morning hours, the reality is that the bill was not complete and still subject to great modification by the back-room, secret reconciliation committee that reconciles the differences between the House version and the Senate version. No one knew what it contained – which is also true during the August Congressional recess.

Much like passing the TARP (Troubled Assets Relief Program) which contained little or no transparency or accountability and ceded enormous powers to the Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy “Turbo Tax” Geithner, the former head of the New York Federal Reserve who was complicit in engineering the financial industry response to the crisis under the Bush Administration. Congress did not even demand to know where the funds were actually spent and accepted the mealy-mouthed protestations of the financial institutions that they couldn’t provide an answer because the funds were co-mingled with their normal operational cash. Unfortunately, we later realized that the commercial and consumer lending liquidity was a myth – most of the money went for the acquisition of other financial firms, used to shore up the institution's balance sheet or never left the Fed vault as it was being used to satisfy mandatory reserves lest the institution be judged “unsound” or “insolvent” by its regulators.

What the hell is wrong with the democrat legislators?

One needs only to consider the fundamental stupidity and venality of jet-setting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. With corrupt and/or complacent leadership, we are looking at an entire party that has succumbed to far-left funding and is apparently interested in driving a socialistic agenda to pay-back their donors in order to meet the financial challenges of the 2010/2012 election cycle. All while enlarging government, pandering to the unions, raising taxes and curtailing our freedom.

Can you trust President Obama or the Congressional democrats?

One needs only to see what the democrats have done:

  • Poured billions of dollars into failed and failing financial institutions.
  • Refused to demand transparency and accountability for billions of dollars spent in record time.
  • Pumped money into known organizations with pending investigations or known criminal activity such as ACORN.
  • Used a semantic trick to mask the fact that there were over 9,000 congressional earmarks in a bill which was said to have no earmarks.
  • Continue to play games with the funding and staffing of our military and intelligence agencies.
  • Leaked information that weakens the United States foreign stature and undermines ongoing military operations in a time of war.
  • Failed to stand with our trusted allies while dissing the United States to the great delight of our enemies, both foreign and domestic.
  • Wrote cap-and-trade legislation which would cripple the United States economy and impose major taxes on each and every American citizen. All under the false and misleading banner of global warming.
  • Taking control over every aspect of the functioning of the United States by bringing control of normal state institutions into the White House.
  • Using so-called czars to subvert the Senate confirmation process and establish a shadow government within the Administration. Perhaps because many of the unaccountable and unelected appointees have a questionable past as radical activists or cannot be successfully vetted.

The facts are on my side and I challenge all of those who read my blogs to correct my errors, if you can. By not taking action, we are, once again, going down the democrat path of Jimmy Carter, the man responsible for Islamo-fascism, and Bill Clinton, the man that failed to protect the United States while he was preoccupied with shtuping interns.

The real danger is yet to come ...

You must remember: all it takes is one paragraph allowing the Secretary of Health and Human Services or an unelected czar to make rules and regulations in implementing the healthcare program ... to bypass Congress and implement those provisions which are not included in the bill because of their political sensitivity.

The only answer is to defeat the ENTIRE legislative initiative and force them to prove that they can reform Medicare and other government programs before granting them the power to disrupt the lives of American citizens to pursue their failed socialist political agenda.

And there is but one answer to return the United States to the correct path: Send a message …

Global Warming: Confusing reporting with importance and relevance ...

Is it intellectually dishonest to report a fact using a headline, which is accurate, but which overstates the importance of the finding or contributes to a misleading impression?

The information may be scientifically accurate, but what if the reporting is skewed to mislead the public into believing the scientific data supports a political agenda?

According to Newswise …

“The global average temperature jumped   0.41 C  from June to July, the largest one-month jump in the 31-year global temperature record, according to Dr. John Christy, director of UAHuntsville’s Earth System Science Center. The global average went from normal in June to the second hottest July on record.”

The average layman would look at this report and might say that “we are experiencing global warming” and it is being proved by reputable well-credentialed scientists. So let’s look a little deeper.

What is the significance of a few monthly measurements which are barely perceivable squiggles in the context of a significantly longer global weather pattern? Individual results which may be masked in the overall variability of nature’s normal climate change? Especially when the directly observed and proxy data (tree rings, etc) has been much hotter and much colder in the Earth’s history. Especially in periods predating industrialization and the use of coal-fired energy plants? This type of reporting is a “big whoop-de-do” of nothingness … designed to obtain media coverage for the reporting institution and its principal investigators. Something to advance the funding of worthy scientific research in the mainstream media.

Caveat …

At least in this case, the reporter was intellectually honest and notes that:

Part of that is an artificial artifact of where we put the calendar boundaries,” Christy said. “Warmth from the new El Nino was not felt at all in June but really got going almost from the first day of July.”

One, nature does not appear to be a respecter of artificial time divisions since global climate is a continuous process and time is only man’s way to make sense of the reported data.

And two, the selection of the reporting interval may be more critical to the story than it is to reality.

“At 0.41 C warmer than seasonal norms, July 2009 was second only to July 1998 (+0.51 C). July 1998 was on the back end of the most powerful El Nino Pacific Ocean warming event of the 20th century. That El Nino also caused the warmest monthly average temperature in the climate record: +0.77 in April 1998.”

What? Someone is reporting that a physical phenomenon (El Nino) is causing warmer temperatures. Not carbon dioxide, not coal-fired energy production, not the bogus destruction of the Amazon rainforest?

El Nino?

I wonder if anyone else noticed that El Nino does not seem to have anything to do with man’s alleged use of coal-fired plants or the production of CO2. The last time I checked, the largest greenhouse gas was water vapor and that the cloud cover in a region was a function of moisture content and atmospheric pressures which drive the winds.

“El Niño-Southern Oscillation [ENSO] is a periodic change in the atmosphere and ocean of the tropical Pacific region. It is manifested in the atmosphere by changes in the pressure difference between Tahiti and Darwin, Australia, and in the ocean by warming or cooling of surface waters of the tropical Eastern Pacific Ocean.” <More>

Must know information?

At 0.61 C warmer than seasonal norms, temperatures in the Southern Hemisphere in July tied May 1998 (during that big El Nino) as the second warmest month south of the equator. It was also the second warmest month on record in the Antarctic, where the average temperature was 3.11 C (about 5.60 degrees Fahrenheit) warmer than seasonal norms for the Antarctic winter. The warmest (compared to seasonal norms) was May 2002, when the continent’s average temperature was 3.30 C warmer than normal.”

“Largest One-Month Change
Monthly Average Temperature
June ‘09 to July ‘09: +0.41 C
Dec. ‘06 to Jan. ‘07: +0.29 C
Dec. ‘04 to Jan. ‘05: +0.29 C
Sep. ‘84 to Oct. ‘84: +0.29 C
Feb. ‘99 to Mar. ‘99: - 0.28 C
Nov. ‘95 to Dec. ‘95: - 0.28 C
Aug. ‘84 to Sep. ‘84: - 0.28 C”

What irritates me is that these findings, while scientifically accurate (for the methodology employed), lead to headlines which seem to say that we are experiencing some form of global warming and that the preponderance of these reports in the mainstream media may mischaracterize the natural variability of nature in such a manner as to support unwarranted and ineffective human intervention in the form of a political agenda.

Let’s look at something quite different …

By the way, please note that the charts below are from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, courtesy of Dr. Roy Spenser – the very same Roy Spenser who is reporting the temperature increase.

Continuing a decade-long trend of declining global temperatures, the year 2008 was significantly colder than 2007, and global temperatures for the year were below the average over the past 30 years.”

The global temperature data, reported by NASA satellite-based temperature measurements, refuted predictions 2008 would be one of the warmest on record.”

“Data show 2008 ranked 14th coldest of the 30 years measured by NASA satellite instruments since they were first launched in 1979. It was the coldest year since 2000.” <Source>

Lower Troposhperic Global Temperatures

A somewhat different picture and a different impression. One that places the above findings in somewhat of a better perspective. Unfortunately, the time scale of this data is still suspect … because the Earth has seen colder temperatures and warmer temperatures – with higher levels of carbon dioxide and lower levels of carbon dioxide – and which occurred before man’s so-called outrageous industrialization.

Further details on the report …

“As part of an ongoing joint project between The University of Alabama in Huntsville, NOAA and NASA, Christy and Dr. Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist in the ESSC, use data gathered by microwave sounding units on NOAA and NASA satellites to get accurate temperature readings for almost all regions of the Earth. This includes remote desert, ocean and rain forest areas for which reliable climate data are not otherwise available.”

“The satellite-based instruments measure the temperature of the atmosphere from the surface up to an altitude of about eight kilometers above sea level. Once the monthly temperature data is collected and processed, it is placed in a ‘public’ computer file for immediate access by atmospheric scientists in the U.S. and abroad.”

Politically correct, but possibly dishonest …

Neither Spencer nor Christy receives any research support or funding from oil, coal or industrial companies or organizations, or from any private or special interest groups. All of their climate research funding comes from state and federal grants or contracts.”

While it is common practice to note sponsorships is relatively neutral terms, it seems that this particular “politically correct” notice makes it seem that funding sources other than state or federal grants are suspect. I find such notices make me wonder about the neutrality of the research findings and the veracity of the popularly-reported work.

What annoys me is that this type of notice is also intellectually dishonest because agency funding, whether from state or federal sources, can be both implicitly and explicitly biased. That is, researchers submit research protocols tailored to the agencies predominant biases and beliefs in order to receive funding and may select computational parameters which allows their research to meet perceived agency goals in order to secure additional funding. The parameters which are often used to skew results into an acceptable result include a “selective date range” or key assumptions which are hypothetical rather than experimentally observable. In some instances, actual sensor data is smoothed, averaged or missing data is interpolated. While most scientists scrupulously annotate their work – the caveats, reservations and deviations contained in the footnotes rarely are mentioned in reports carried by the popular press.

Let’s see what the other principal investigator, John Christy, has to say …

Warming Trend Overstated

’The substantial and continuing La Niña cooled the Earth quite a bit in 2008, to the point that it was slightly below the 30-year average [1979-2008] but slightly above the 20-year average [1979-1998],’ said John Christy, distinguished professor of atmospheric science and director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).”

’From research we have published, and more to come soon, we find that land surface air temperatures misrepresent the actual temperature changes in the deep atmosphere—where the greenhouse effect is anticipated to have its easiest impact to measure. Surface thermometers are affected by many influences, especially surface development, so the bulk atmospheric measurements from satellites offer a straightforward indicator of how much heat is or is not accumulating in the air, for whatever reason,’ Christy explained.
’Recent published evidence also supports the long-term trends of UAH as being fairly precise, so the observed rate of warming is noticeably less than that projected by the IPCC ‘Best Estimate’ model simulations which, we hypothesize, are too sensitive to CO2 increases,’ Christy added.” <Source>

A honest scientist … and a little reportorial slight of hand by the mainstream media and you would believe that we have a consensus of scientists endorsing the United Nations IPCC findings and that we must take action now to save the planet.

Bottom line …

With respect to global warming, global cooling and global climate change, the science is far from being settled, the advertised consensus (if that was how one actually determined scientific facts) does not support many of the published findings and that we must regard much of what is being done in the name of science to be, in truth and reality, an attempt to manipulate man’s perceptions to advance a controlling political agenda which will result in bigger government, higher taxes, and the gradual loss of freedom and liberty.

Once again we are being screwed by the politicians and a corrupt mainstream media which refuses to report the situation in a neutral and unbiased manner.

Since this is all ginned-up by politicians, there is but one solution …

P.S.  If I were one of those kooky people who want to put reflectors on sailboats or inject harmful sulfur into the atmosphere, I might suggest we bomb the volcanoes which produced noticeable periods of significantly cooler temperatures.  And given man’s relatively puny efforts in relation to nature’s awesome forces, I doubt that even bombing would help trigger a massive volcanic eruption.

AARP: MISLEADING COMMERCIAL DEMONIZES SPECIAL INTERESTS – LIKE AARP THEMSELVES!

I just saw a AARP-sponsored commercial where an ambulance racing red lights and siren towards a hospital is being blocked at every turn by cars and busses ostensibly driven by the special interests trying to stop healthcare.

A powerful metaphoric picture and one that totally untrue ...

Truth be told, AARP has sold out its senior citizen membership to curry favor of the Obama Administration – perhaps so their “for profit” business selling insurance and drugs to senior citizens continues to profit. Perhaps because their top executive wants a “special” position within the Obama Administration?

AARP has become that evil special interest acting in their own self-interests – abandoning senior citizens to a plan which they loudly claim they do not support.

In his opening remarks Obama said, "We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors." In response to a question from a women concerned about losing her Medicare supplement if something happens to her husband, Obama said, "AARP would not be endorsing a bill if it was undermining Medicare, okay?"’

The AARP has not endorsed any health care plan that is currently being considered by Congress.
Obama's false claim of an AARP endorsement caused the AARP issue a denial:
"While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate." <Source>

LIARS … If they do not support Obamacare, why are they wasting millions of dollars of their member’s money to run a pro-healthcare commercial?

In fact, how the hell can AARP even know what is contained in the bill because the final bill has not been presented to congress. All that exists are draft copies with much of the authority and power being granted to unelected Agency secretaries and czars.

SOMETHING IS WRONG AT AARP … PERHAPS IT IS TIME FOR THEIR MEMBERS TO INVESTIGATE AND TAKE ACTION.
