ARE YOU TIRED OF POLITICS YET?

The goal of the politicians, both in the Administration and Congress is to push so much confusing legislation into the shortest possible time, that the average citizen will simply throw-up their hands and walk away – accepting whatever these political poltroons dish up.

The way triangulation works …

 triangulation

The way it all works:  the larger circles are all about enlarging the bureacracy, raising tax revenues and exerting political control. The smaller areas where there is a primary overlap indicates the potential for the special interests to carve out profits. All parties trying desperately to avoid the “dead center” where legislation dies and politicians lose their jobs.

How it needs to work to save America from these self-serving leeches …

Steve Poizner playing politics during business hours?

According to the pundits at the Sacramento Bee, it appears that California Insurance Commissioner, Steve Poizner, is attempting to play politics in an effort to bolster his name recognition for an upcoming 2010 governor’s race.

According to the Sacramento Bee’s AM Alert …

“State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner has called a news conference in Los Angeles this morning -- and it's not about the budget.

Poizner, a likely 2010 candidate for governor, is taking on Iran.”

“The GOP hopeful will order insurers in California to disclose investments they may have in foreign companies that do business in the oil and weapons industry with Iran.”

Adding hundreds of man-hours and significant costs to the insurers as they comb through investments in mutual funds and other investments which may be linked to multi-national companies who may be under no restrictions on doing business in Iran.

“Department of Insurance officials suspect the probe eventually will turn up billions of dollars of such indirect investments.”

Poizner has no power to make the companies divest, but he can (and will) disseminate the information they provide him. (Perhaps at another news conference....)”

A shameless ploy to attract media attention to his future race for governor?

“Poizner also aims to enforce a new California law that prohibits California-based companies from making direct investments in Iran, one of the countries designated by the U.S. Department of State as a state sponsor of terrorism.”

Perhaps he should leave the real enforcement of California law to those who are Constitutionally responsible for bringing actions of this type: the California State Attorney General?

Just another ego-driven liberal republican looking more and more like the ineffective Arnold Schwarzenegger as time goes on …

Here we have another billionaire businessman turned liberal legislator ignoring his primary job to regulate insurance companies doing business in California, but attempting to make a broader political statement with his activities.

The United States government already has legislation regarding foreign investments and federal legislation supersedes state legislation. So why is Poizner squandering the time, effort and assets of his office in a critical budget year? Personal politics is the ONLY answer I can find.

This is definitely not a suitable candidate for the California Governor in 2010 – he is simply another republican like Arnold Schwarzenegger, ego-driven and devoid of any real leadership abilities.

He squeaked into office by running unopposed in the primary and faced the much-maligned Cruz Bustamante in the general election.

My opinion …

Healthcare: Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi may be compromising your health; hiding the provisions of their healthcare plan from the legislators and the American Public before the vote?

I cannot believe that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid would deny the American public one week to read their healthcare proposal. A proposal which affects every aspect of American life and promises to be the largest and most costly government power grab in the history of the United States.

Perhaps, we should seek the ouster of both of these politicians by pressuring their fellow democrats with the spectre of being re-called or never being re-elected. Or, even worse, major investigations into their fundraising and commercial activities.

It is unconscionable that the majority of legislators themselves are not allowed time to read, digest and debate the provisions of major bills which are having more of an impact on the functioning of the United States than a terrorist strike with a nuclear weapon.

In fact, one might argue that our enemies have co-opted the democrats and are now waging war against the American people by using their own laws, rules and regulations against them in an effort to cripple the United States’ economy and military activities. On these grounds, it might even be theoretically possible to bring impeachment actions against certain key legislators for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

According to CNSNews.com …

Pelosi Won't Give Public a Week to Review Text of Health-Care Bill Before House Votes on It

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) will not give the public a week to review the final text of a health-care reform bill before it is voted on later this year."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) has also declined to commit to giving the public a week to read and consider the final health-care bill.”

This is not emergency legislation or even legislation which needs to be passed this year. This is supposed to be legislation affecting national policies after careful and thoughtful debate.

“At her press briefing on Thursday, Pelosi was asked whether the health-care bill would be handled differently than the stimulus bill, which came up in February. The 1,071-page final text of that bill was posted on the House Appropriations Committee’s Web site late on a Thursday night and then voted on the next day.”

“When the stimulus bill came out earlier this year, members and citizens had less than two days to review the final version that came out of the conference committee before it was voted on,” CNSNews.com asked Pelosi on Thursday. “Will you commit to giving Americans at least a week to review the full conference version of the health care bill before it is voted on? And also will you commit to submitting the final version to the CBO [Congressional Budget Office] so that they can report the cost to the public?”

“Pelosi would not commit to giving the public a week to review the bill, and did not respond to the question of having the CBO report on the cost of the final bill.”

There is no doubt in my mind that the actions of our legislators has now moved beyond simple greed and incompetence … and may now be approaching treason – action that gives aid and comfort to our ideological enemies on the far-left, the socialists and communists, who do not wish the United States and its citizens well.

There is little likelihood that the members of the House and Senate will investigate themselves and even the Supreme Court may be reluctant to hear a case involving malfeasance in another co-equal branch of government.

We certainly cannot look to the Administration and President Obama for relief as it is his malevolent initiatives that are driving us towards socialism.

Likewise, we cannot rely on the media to accurately assess and report the news without an ideological bias. It seems many in the mainstream media have compromised their journalistic ethics in favor of supporting the Obama regime.  Not to mention that General Electric may have a company directive to support the Obama Administration as a corporate business model; trading media support at NBC and its affiliates for the potential of government contracts in healthcare, energy production and defense contracting.

It’s your life at stake  …

Call your elected officials and let them know that you do not care for the way they are treating the American people when it comes to critical issues which will affect each and every citizen for years to come – perhaps being the difference between life and death, comfort and pain.

Steve Poizner: Poizon for California's future? (updated)

UPDATE: 07-01-09  Fuel tax could be replaced with by-the-mile road tax

Kansas City.com is reporting ...

"The year is 2020 and the gasoline tax is history. In its place you get a monthly tax bill based on each mile you drove — tracked by a Global Positioning System device in your car and uploaded to a billing center."

"What once was science fiction is being field-tested by the University of Iowa to iron out the wrinkles should a by-the-mile road tax ever be enacted."

"Besides the technological advances making such a tax possible, the idea is getting a hard push from a growing number of transportation experts and officials. That is because the traditional by-the-gallon fuel tax, struggling to keep up with road building and maintenance demands, could fall even farther behind as vehicles’ gas mileage rises and more alternative-fuel vehicles come on line."

"The idea of shifting to a by-the-mile tax has been discussed for years, but it now appears to be getting more serious attention. A federal commission, after a two-year study, concluded earlier this year that the road tax was the “best path forward” to keep revenues flowing to highway and transportation projects, and could be an important new tool to help manage traffic and relieve congestion."

Fuel tax by the mile, insurance by the mile, surcharges for parking, driving non-energy efficient cars, congestion traffic pricing on freeways and city streets -- money transfered directly to the government from your checking account or credit card ???

Original blog entry ...

Sometimes I wonder if I am the only one who seems to “connect the dots” to find a plausible conspiracy theory embedded in ordinary events? Or even cares?

Today’s conspiracy involves a billionaire businessman turned politician and the encroachment of a political “big brother” on our Constitutional freedoms.

Let’s give it a whirl and see what you think …

Dot 1:   We have Steve Poizner, a well-educated, high-technology entrepreneur that has seemingly purchased himself a political position as the California State Insurance Commissioner. A man with political aspirations to become California’s governor in 2010.

Dot 2:   This particular entrepreneur is said to have earned his fortune by managing and selling high-technology companies.

“In 1983, Poizner founded and served as chief executive officer of Strategic Mapping Inc., a software company that developed a program to display geographic data on digital maps, assisting police departments, utilities, transportation companies, banks and retailers with selecting new locations and plotting distribution logistics.”

“In 1995, Poizner founded SnapTrack, Inc., which pioneered technology that put GPS receivers into cell phones. Poizner served as its chief executive officer until he sold the privately held company to Qualcomm in 2000 for a reported $1.0 billion.” <Source>

Dot 3:   As Insurance Commissioner, Steve Poizner is promoting an insurance scheme which would allow insurance companies to “charge by the mile.”

According to the Los Angeles Times …

“Under regulations proposed Friday by state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, insurers could offer so-called pay-as-you-drive policies for drivers, who could cut their insurance bills by spending less time behind the wheel.”Pay-as-you-drive' auto policies could become option by year's end”

Dot 4:  The “pay as you drive” scheme requires GPS and tracking technologies to allow the insurance companies to calculate the proper insurance premiums.

“Poizner did not say how much the average motorist could save under such a plan. Similar products, which have been tried on a limited basis in 34 states as well as in Canada, Japan and Europe, have saved policyholders money. Premiums dropped by 13% to 54% for GMAC Insurance policyholders, whose mileage was monitored by parent General Motors Corp.'s OnStar satellite tracking system.”

Dot 5:  The “pay as you drive” technology could also be used for (pause for drum roll), the government to implement its “fair use energy tax” on gasoline, possibly surcharging the use of larger, less energy-efficient vehicles. Possibly using the very same OnStar satellite tracking system that is now owned by General Motors (also now known as Government Motors).

Dot 6:   Not to be left in the dust, all law enforcement authorities would also have access to your whereabouts on a 24/7 basis as well as access to conversations that occur inside your vehicle – whether or not the OnStar system is being used.

Even though OnStar vehemently denied being able to listen to in-vehicle conversations (and not just telephone calls), their denial was rendered moot in a dramatic court case in which it was found that surreptitious listening by government agencies would disable the emergency functions of the OnStar system to the detriment of the vehicle’s occupants. It is also a well-known fact that CALEA (Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act) mandates all providers of telecommunications networks to provide the government with an easy-to-access  “monitoring” interface.

So  what am I to make of the progression of events when I connect the dots?

First, I suspect that Steve Poizner is just another in a long line of self-serving liberals who portray themselves as Republicans to cut in front of the political line when it comes to party politics. That is, they can achieve faster results from being a Republican than they could if they were forced to go through the same steps as a democrat. Same political philosophy, just a different more expedient route.

When Poizner speaks of the benefits of a “pay as you drive” system, I see another liberal asking you to surrender another portion of your freedom, telling you how to live your life as a socialist and making a profit from their legislation.

“Proponents of the 'pay-as-you-drive' proposal contend that it could create a variety of other benefits aside from lower premiums for motorists. Fewer vehicles probably would be on the road, which could curb traffic congestion as well as curtail global warming through the reduced greenhouse gas emissions spewed out of car tailpipes.”

While I do believe in curtailing pollution, I do believe that our current global climate is a function of the natural variability of our weather and that man’s ability to affect the mean global temperature is miniscule. I also believe that science is being perverted for a political agenda that is antithetical to the freedoms we now enjoy in America and is a program sponsored by our enemies, both foreign and domestic – and being pushed by complacent and corrupt politicians.

“Reporting from Sacramento -- By year's end California drivers could start buying automobile insurance by the mile, much as some cellphone users purchase talk time by the minute.”

Perhaps the cellphone analogy is apt. Imagine the proliferation of mileage plans, almost incomprehensible to the average consumer and definitely not easily comparable between companies? What might the consequences be of exceeding your monthly mileage: a penalty that goes directly to the bottom line of the company as incremental profits?

Do you really want insurance plans based on the cellphone business model where everybody is offering the same thing and competing on chaos and confusion in the marketplace?

But drivers who have long work commutes or live in remote or rural areas might find it more economical to stick with conventional rates not based on exact miles driven.”

No one would be forced to buy a pay-as-you-drive policy and no insurance company would be required to offer such a program, Poizner said.”

Yeah, right!

Insurance offerings are not made in a vacuum. When one insurance company seeks a competitive advantage, others are sure to follow; dropping alternative insurance plans to push consumers into their “preferred” programs. Perhaps ceding control over the process to another “czar” -- like those found in socialist central planning programs.

The kiss of death …

Major insurance companies, which over the last year have participated in hearings and workshops that developed the proposed regulations, said they were at least conceptually on board with setting rates by the mile.’

" ‘The proposal has a lot of merit and is definitely something we might want to explore,’ said Brian Dwyer, senior vice president for automobile products at Los Angeles-based Farmers Insurance Group, a unit of Zurich Financial Services Group of Switzerland. (On Friday, Farmers finalized its acquisition of Woodland Hills-based 21st Century Insurance, a leading low-cost carrier.)”

I guess there is one less major insurance carrier to provide that “choice” they are so fond of mentioning.

“Motorists who opt for a pay-as-you-drive policy would have several ways to have their mileage measured under the regulations. Those options include odometer readings taken by insurance companies, auto-repair shops or smog-check stations.”

Another additional charge and more profit for the smog-check stations?

Owners could also agree to install in their vehicles electronic transmitters that automatically report mileage to insurers. Insurers, however, would be prohibited from using such devices to monitor where a customer drives.”

Here it is folks – voluntarily being asked to cede your privacy and freedom for a few saved pennies. Notice that nothing is being said about the other diagnostic information available from the very same system. Perhaps surcharging you for driving above the speed limit? Perhaps electronically fining you for driving in a speed zone? The government can, and will, access this data – with or without a court order as it has done in the past. In fact, your car may contain a black box that will indicate who is “at fault” in an accident (violation of your Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination?) or if you were wearing a seatbelt. Remember, insurance companies can deny your claims and coverage if you knowingly participate in a crime – such as not wearing a seatbelt.

Why is it that I am extremely suspicious of another liberal Republican as the Governor of California?

There is no doubt that our present governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is a liberal – almost to the point of being a far-left liberal democrat. His lack of leadership skills and negotiating ability has helped drive California further into debt; while at the same time, his business, tax and environmental policies have almost insured that California is the worst state in the United States for an entrepreneurial business that involves energy use – including manufacturing and construction.

So what’s up with Poizner’s plan to cripple those of us who must commute long distances to work – and to restrict the driving habits of California’s population?

Considering that Poizner’s has a mathematical background and understands the insurance business, why is he hell-bent on promoting an automobile insurance scheme that will punish productive Californian’s who drive farther distances and reward those, like illegal aliens, who drive comparitively short distances – but whose drinking and driving habits make them a significantly greater risk?

Can anyone disagree?

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that insurance companies have become extraordinarily intrusive in the lives of the average Californian. Some control whether or not you will live or die by regulating the parameters and costs of your health insurance. Some control whether or not you will survive the burden of an automobile accident. And some will control your physical and financial destiny after a natural disaster.

The insurance companies also play “power politics,” to insure that they, rather than the consumer, continue to have the upper hand in all areas affecting your life. They are the prime employer of lobbyists and lawyers to influence legislation that can only be described as self=serving.

And when politicians cozy up to the industry they are sworn to regulate and then start speaking of reducing traffic, global warming and reducing the cost of insurance – watch out!

“Pay as you drive” puts the government in the driver’s seat …

Not only does it sound like a liberal pipe dream, but considering the malevolence of insurance companies, bound to raise the profit margins on productive Californians and enlarge the marketplace as illegal aliens are offered cheaper insurance. Possibly for the purpose of getting Steve Poizner elected governor in 2010.

“The proposal by state Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, which is open for comment until July 9, could help motorists cut their bills by spending less time behind the wheel.”

If there was any way I could spend less time behind the wheel in my daily commute, I certainly would have done it by now. But doesn’t this sound like your typical socialist liberal who wants to further curtail personal transit and force people on to union-controlled transit.

“The proposed rules are open for comment from drivers, consumer advocates, environmentalists and insurance companies until July 9. Under California law, the insurance commissioner must approve all changes in how rates are set. Poizner said the new regulations could be in effect by mid-November.”

This is another way to circumvent the California State Constitution and impose laws by Administrative fiat rather than the vote of “we the people.”

Enter the Liberal mantra …

“Proponents contend that the plan could create a variety of other benefits. Fewer vehicles probably would be on the road, which could curb traffic congestion as well as curtail global warming through the reduced greenhouse gas emissions spewed out of car tailpipes.”

“Rather, California's extremely competitive auto-insurance market should create ‘the right kind of financial incentives for insurance companies and consumers to begin to take some bold steps to reduce the number of miles driven,’ he said.”

For many of us, the miles actually driven are a function of our employment, not based on some random whim. Even if we do drive on a whim, is Poizner trying to restrict our freedom to take an out-of-state vacati0n? Driving up costs by penalizing those drivers who choose freedom over socialistic conformity.

The far-left liberal mantra …

" ‘Research shows that with greater customer participation, the benefits to the environment, accidents and savings that can be offered all increase dramatically,’ said Lauren Navarro, an attorney with the Environmental Defense Fund. ‘Most households would save money with widespread adoption of pay as you drive, and even more will see no increased costs but benefit from cleaner air.’”

“Doug Heller, executive director of Consumer Watchdog, a Santa Monica advocacy group, complained that Poizner's proposal would give insurance companies too much leeway to decide whether or not to offer a pay-as-you-drive option to potential customers.
He said he feared that the regulations would allow companies to offer smaller discounts than they should for people who cut their driving by only modest amounts.
’It may be unrealistic to ask people to stop driving three days a week when maybe they could only carpool twice a month,’ Heller said. ‘These are flawed rules that could be made better.’"

Far-left lawyers, lobbyists and activists are promoting an ideology, insurers are piggybacking for commercial advantage and profit – and the politicians are doing what they are paid (by them, not us) to do. And “we the people” get screwed.

Bottom line …

There is no doubt that we are facing the loss of our freedoms to a government that has become increasingly self-serving, corrupt and out of control. There is also no doubt that the financial institutions, including the insurance companies, have decimated our economy with little or no consequences to the executives with political clout.

There is no doubt that Poizner is extremely rich, well-educated and has a record of achievement in both the private and public sector. Unfortunately, these are also the characteristics of many liberals who are isolated by money, position and privilege from the effects of the idealistic or ideological goals that they try to impose on the general public.

So, how is it that a Republican that is said to be running for Governorship of California in 2010 comes out looking like a liberal socialist pandering to those moneyed interests that are hell-bent on ruining California’s economy?

 What can YOU do?

Pessimists Vs. Optimists

Why am I mean to President Obama and his Administration?

One of my readers asked why I was so pessimistic in my viewpoint involving the Obama Administration. Asking me to give the President a chance to achieve some meaningful gains before unloading on him. The reader went so far as to cite the media’s self-imposed  honeymoon period as an example.

I have a problem …

My problem is that I am conditioned, by training and profession, to indentify and anticipate negative consequences which may affect an enterprise. It is therefore with a somewhat jaundiced eye that I view individual and institutional actions; assigning almost equal weights to motivation for action as well as to the action itself.

I cannot overlook human nature, history or common sense …

My viewpoint is conditioned by the very nature of human behavior which dictates, except in a few rare instances, that a person will act in their own self-interest before considering society as a whole.

Also by the fact that I do not consider our government, be it local, state or federal to be monolithic. It’s actions are the sum total of the actions of its people, as directed by the individual layers of leadership. The bureacracy can serve as an anchor to weigh-down the over-broad initiatives of the leadership as well as a sail that increases the motion toward a designated goal.

I ask myself, in what parallel universe does Orwellian speech (wrong is right, down is up, evil is good) and the appointment of a 31 year old “almost lawyer” to lead the negotiations over the car industry occur?

The Obama Administration …

When I view the Obama Administration, I see a number of Clintonistas pushing their personal agendas. I see a number of professional politicians making a personal calculation that their personal self-interest would be better served by “going along to get along” – and thus be entitled to a share of the spoils. I see a far-left agenda pushed by a socialist coalition that wants to enlarge their power base and funding while weakening the United States, both domestically and on the foreign stage.

But most of all, I see a telegenic, glib leader who uses a TelePrompTer to stay on message, lest he reveal he is not the magnificent extemporaneous orator that people think him to be or says something that reveals his true agenda.

Believing what you see as opposed to what you are told …

Part of my skepticism is hearing President Obama and his Administration say that they don’t want to own and run a car company. Only to see both Congress and the Administration interfere in the matter. Dictating, through legislative standards and Administration directives  regarding fuel efficiency and emissions control what type of cars must be developed and sold. I see that there is a disregard of the 5th Amendment in regards to taking the private property of individuals without just compensation. I see the gross disregard of common and contractual law to force the senior secured bond holders to receive less money for their investment than the unsecured claims of the unions who are receiving a disproportionate amount of money and control over the new company. I see a subversion of the bankruptcy rules – telling the public that they must invest billions in taxpayer dollars in car companies to prevent a damaging bankruptcy, only to provide for a stage-managed bankruptcy which subverts the power of the court to set aside onerous and toxic union and vendor contracts. I see a firm taking billions of dollars in aid, only to convey some of that aid to a private investment company to purchase one of the firm’s ailing vendors – all on behalf of the unions who also provided some of the additional investment funds.

Systems and procedures …

Part of my skepticism is based on my knowledge of the systems and procedures which are involved with data processing -- hearing the President and his Administration claim savings where only costs truly accrue.

Corrupt and complacent politicians …

But most of all, I feel that my trust has been violated by a generation of corrupt and complacent politicians and their nominees. People who have failed to uphold their oath of office and their fiduciary responsibilities to the American taxpayer.

I have no respect for the President and his circle of friends which rose from the depths of the Illinois political cesspool. I have no respect for asshats like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid or the great majority of apparently corrupt politicians like House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd. Don’t get me wrong, I also have problems with the other side of the aisle as they sit silently and watch the government screw over the American people. Concentrating on getting their share of the political pork in return for the silence and complicity.

Mainstream news is indistinguishable from propaganda …

Likewise, I have no respect for the mainstream media which has, for the most part, surrendered its journalistic ethics and oversight for some, as yet undetermined, advantage to their corporate owners.

Pushing the cult of celebrity and airheads like Paris Hilton as being newsworthy when Iran is building a nuclear bomb and North Korea is thumbing their nose at America as they allegedly prepare to shoot a long-range missile towards Hawaii.

Pessimistic, you bet …

You show me any real progress in America today that involves a partnership between the government and business? Show me where the government is busy repairing or replacing our crumbling infrastructure instead of paying out dollars to build freeway sound walls?

If you think you are smarter than I am, point out the benefits of carbon cap and trade which sells indulgences to gross polluters to allow them to keep polluting – placing people further at risk – and passing the cost on to their ratepayers and, by extension, the general public?

Show me how CO2 is driving the rise in global temperatures when I can show you research that indicates that CO2 levels lag temperature rise by 600 – 1000 years depending on which datasets are used? Especially when I can tell you that the CO2 phenomena can be simply explained as the outgassing of warmer ocean waters much like a cold beer giving off carbon dioxide to the atmosphere as it warms.

I know enough about modeling to know that one does not accept the output of computer models as scientific fact. Especially when assumptions underlying the models are suspect, the underlying data has been manipulated in order to achieve pre-determined results and the interpretation of the results exceeds common sense and human timeframes. So why is the government listening to those scientists whose opinions have been purchased with billions of dollars of grant money which is likely to stop if it is proven that we cannot mitigate global climate change? Why is the government attempting to enlarge its bureacracy, funding and restrict our personal freedoms, if not for a malignant and corrupt – dare I say evil,  purpose?

Explain to me why we are pushing for strict gun controls to disarm the law-abiding citizen when common sense and your own observations tell you criminals do not abide by any laws? To me, a posted gun-free zone might as well read shooting gallery. Is the American public so stupid as to believe that the police can be everywhere they are needed, when they are needed? Is the public too stupid to realize that crime pays – for the attorney’s, judges, jailers, police, unions, and that the incentive to reduce or eliminate crime is conditioned on public opinion and outcry?

What type of morality in the government allows them to regulate and tax alcohol and cigarettes and draw the line at marijuana? They can see that cigarettes and alcohol produces a quantifiable number of deaths – but look the other way as the tax revenues roll-in.

I cannot even expect the government to correctly administer the death penalty in a timely manner or even trust the actions of the Courts. Self-serving investigators and prosecutors have so-compromised the system as to make me side with those who do not believe the death penalty is fairly administered.

Look at the asshat from Illinois, Roland Burris. You know, they guy that is under investigation in connection with Rod Blagojevich’s alleged sale of Barack Obama’s Senate Seat. How many people know he sent an innocent man to death row for political purposes while running for governor? How many people know that the assistant attorney general and lead investigator resigned in disgust over this mishandled case? Why has the press remained silent on the issue – and the Senate remained silent when they seated this immoral and corrupt individual?

Why is an impeached judge sitting in our legislature? What about those who advocated the violent overthrow of the United States in the sixties?

Why are we giving a pass to criminals and their cohorts – I am speaking about the white collar ones – when they should be prosecuted?

We are not even sure that terrorist events have not been instigated by government officials looking for a high-value, high-publicity arrest. Consider the evidence of Waco and Ruby Ridge.

I am disgusted with the cesspool that has become American politics and even more disgusted with the lowlife bottom-feeding politicians who are bleeding the American public dry.

So before you ask me why I am negative and refuse to give Barack Obama a pass, look around you. The answer will become as apparent to you as it is to me.

The solution …

Michael Jackson: Reverend Jesse Jackson is on the scene, can Gloria Allred and the others be far behind? (updated)

UPDATE:  07-29-09   ANSWERING OUR OWN QUESTION: WE NOW KNOW WHERE AL SHARPTON IS ...

"Michael Jackson's death: Sharpton plans meeting with family to 'preserve and protect Michael's legacy'"

"The Rev. Al Sharpton is scheduled to meet with members of the Jackson family at their Encino compound this evening, making him the second prominent African American civil rights leader to advise the family in the wake of Michael Jackson's death."

"His visit comes a day after the Rev. Jesse Jackson said the family was concerned about the medical care Michael Jackson received at his Holmby Hills home before he died Thursday."

A Sharpton spokesman told Newsday that he was going to "meet with Michael's parents and siblings and to talk about the needs to preserve and protect Michael's legacy."

I am still wondering how long it will take lawyer/media hound (and that's being polite) Gloria Allred before she inserts herself into the child custody/care issues either as a talking head pundit or as an actual party. For those with short memories or no regard for the triva surrounding those who chase the media to enhance their own careers, Gloria Allred filed a complaint with the child welfare services in Santa Barbara over Jackon's dangling his child over a hotel balcony in Berlin, Germany. (November, 2003)

Original Blog Entry ...

The Associated Press has published a picture showing Jesse Jackson with Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson.

Michael Jackson, by all accounts, a tortured, twisted and tragic figure who was exploited throughout his life, will continue to be exploited in death by those seeking media attention and access to whatever may be left of his once-significant fortune.

While feigning some degree of grief, one cannot wonder if those who were close to Jackson are somehow pleased that circumstances have seemingly turned in their favor to yield at least another fabulous payday.

No matter how much Jackson may owe, his estate is assured that the royalties will continue to roll-in and that Jackson’s own profligate spending has come to an end. A net profit for the family members and their “consultants” who will be squabbling over their share of the spoils.

Already memorabilia dealers are anticipating an outstanding haul as even the most mundane items are now so-called “collector’s items.” Perhaps not here in the United States, but certainly elsewhere in the world.

My only questions: Will Jesse Jackson manage to attract world-wide media by officiating at the Michael Jackson ceremony? What part will Michael Jackson’s father, long-rumored to be behind some of Michael’s dysfunction, play in the unfolding drama ? And, of course,  where are Al Sharpton and Gloria Allred?

CALIFORNIA PROBLEMS: SOLVING THE FIVE-SIDED PENTAGRAM ...

With all the fancy manuevering by our worthless governor and corrupt legislature, the solution to solving California’s problems remains hidden; once again proving that the devil is in the details

CAPOWER320

The players …

The special interests who seemingly have purchased their favorite legislators. These are the industry lobbyists, lawyers, consultants, public relations counsel and others who funnel cash and support to the politicians in return for allocating and funding their pet projects.

The assembly, comprised mainly of left-leaning socialists who want to become the "perfect people for a perfect planet." Their social agenda is simple: welcome illegal aliens with open arms, push gay rights to the forefront, provide universal benefits to all while making sure that their families, friends and other special interests are fully employed by the government and their vendors.

The unions, are all about money, power and the expansion of their membership. Ideology of the European socialists comes a distant second. They have purchased their power in the legislature and demand obedience. They have grown strong enough to shut down the government – and devious enough to have representatives in key positions in every branch of government. Their goals are modest: everyone needs to be a dues-paying union member to obtain a job in California, and the wages and benefits must continually rise.

The senate, similar to the assembly in ideological makeup. They are a devious and basically untrustworthy group who conspired against the people of California to raise taxes to cover the legislature’s profligate spending. At least the assembly is more open and honest about their goals.

The governor, an ego-driven movie star with a jet set lifestyle, is perhaps the worst of all. Pretending to be a republican, he has shown no leadership, crawled into bed with the liberal and far-left democrats and only wants to be well-taken care of as he contemplates his next political move.

Combined, these are the asshats who are bankrupting California. Siphoning off billions of dollars for their own purposes. The very people who put funding propositions on the ballot and then obscure the real meaning of the legislation or use Orwellian language so a “yes” vote turns into a “no” vote. The people who believe that large unionized construction projects which take years to fulfill should take precedence over other more immediate needs. Yes, what California needs is a high-speed train from Anaheim, owned and operated by Disneyland, to Las Vegas, owned and operated by the big corporations. Moving illegal alien labor conveniently to their unionized jobs in Las Vegas and providing a means to suck money out of our state to provide a “tax free” haven in Nevada for our expatriates which have moved themselves and their businesses from California to Nevada.

You will notice that the citizens are not represented in the pentagram, the traditional symbol of evil …

The citizens of the State of California appear to be a complacent lot who seem to be content that their leadership and the legislature is thoroughly corrupt and acts in their own best interests by promoting the wants and needs of the unions and the special interests above the interests of the citizens of California.

These are the sheeple who stand idly by while billions of taxpayer dollars are siphoned off into a corrupt educational system which is systematically dumbing down the populace, teaching activism and democrat values rather than life-skills and a history of independence and self-sufficiency. Standing idly by while emergency room after emergency room is closed, bankrupted by the costs of illegal aliens who are openly courted by the churches, the unions and the socialists who are vying for additional political power. Watching while our educational, healthcare, judicial and social, cultural infrastructure is decimated. Watching while California’s population is balkanized and turned into competing groups of victims – no group being so powerful as to upset the apple cart without the formation of a hard-won coalition based on divvying up the political spoils. These are the people who bitch and moan about the crowded freeways while all about them our government is spending money on trivial “feel good” projects which have nothing to do with repairing and replacing our crumbling water, electrical an transportation infrastructure.

Threats of a shutdown …

There is nothing more maddening than to see Governor Shwarzenstupid running around threatening a government shutdown – especially reducing the ranks of the first responders who provide police, fire and medical attention to the citizens of California.

Truth be told, these people should have first priority at funding. The repair and replacement of critical infrastructure second. Education next – but only on a severely reduced basis that cuts back on wasteful administration and building huge schools for a declining enrollment. And then parks and recreation. The programs nearest and dearest to the hearts of the governor and the legislature – those involving the so-called “arts” should be eliminated altogether during a fiscal crisis. No more spending millions in public money on special interest community redevelopment for the benefit of the developers and those who anticipate greater tax revenues. No more paying corrupt gang members for gang intervention programs which don’t work. No more paying off churches and other “community” organizations whose accounting is highly suspicious.

Time to cut the salaries and benefits of government employees back to a level commensurate with the private sector or outsource the jobs to the private sector. No more paying a premium for unionized workers with their “can’t be fired” and “reward seniority, not merit” attitudes. We need to downsize government, not find additional revenue sources.

Take Wall Street out of the equation by reducing our debt service on borrowing. Put people in jail for playing games with the people’s money.

How many citizens know that governmental agencies took designated funds and converted them into unrestricted funds by purchasing land and equipment with the designated funds, sold them off to private investors at a loss – and then leased back the very same land and equipment with a handsome rate of return from the state’s treasury? And then spent the unrestricted funds on their private projects?

We need to demand that the legislature start passing single-issue legislation and quit hiding important issues among tons of paper. Giving six-figure salaries to past politicians to work two-days per month. Here you can thank the ideologically-twisted news media for not reporting the whole truth and supporting the far-left agenda which has nearly bankrupted the State of California.

The solution …

Instead of the asshats cutting off our water supply to drive prices higher and imposing far-left liberal conservation efforts, let’s cut off their money. Better yet, let’s fire all of them. No picking sides. Vote for anyone except an incumbent or a returning professional politician.

Example: While California struggles to overcome a $24 BILLION deficit, the "California ssembly approves AB 627, a bill that would set minimum standards for food in licensed child-care centers, requiring a vegetable to be part of lunch and supper and forbidding whole milk for children 2 or older." Now it moves to the Senate. A collection of Neros fiddling while Rome burns.

Global Warming and the Economy: the fallacy of mathematics and computers …

As one who has worked extensively with IBM equipment, from EAMs (Electronic Accounting Machines using punched cards) to heavy-duty mainframes, I used to believe that IBM could do no wrong. That is until I discovered their favorite marketing ploy using FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) to decimate their competition and watched closely how they destroyed their chances of becoming a leader in the personal computer marketplace with irrational market assumptions.

Since I no longer believe in the magic of IBM, I was intrigued by this commercial and could not help but consider it’s implications.

The commercial …

IBM commercial ...

Math is the only language all human beings share.
Math can better predict financial markets.
   Stop a pandemic.
Tell us how jets fly before we even build them.
Math can help us make the world work better.
Here's an equation that can help you get to work on time.
Math can do anything.
   Predict mutations.
   Fix the economy.
   Protein foldings.
   Telematics.
Math can make the world smarter.
   Smarter houses.
   Smarter medicine.
   Smarter systems.
   Grocery stores.
   Supply chains.
Math solves problems.
That's what we're working on.
I'm an IBMer.
  Let's build
Let's build a smarter planet.

The disturbing truth …

Mathematics means little or nothing in a society where political interests and emotions far outweigh logic and rationality.

Mathematics is partially responsible for the current financial crisis:

where the rocket scientists assisting the Wall Street Wizards to hedge risks were unable to account for the consequences of a major downturn in the housing market or predict the value of securities when no counterparties were willing to accept the valuation no matter what the price

where the rating agencies were using historical data which did not account for relaxed underwriting standards and the creation of new products which multiplied risk exponentially.

where the government, by design or accident, cannot track billions of dollars lost in a closed loop system.

Like the financial problems which caused the downfall of  Long Term Capital Management that  relied on mathematical models to conduct their statistical arbitrage.

Mathematics cannot stop a pandemic if the politicians are unwilling or unable to isolate the infectious agent from the general population.

Mathematics cannot fix the economy. There is no mathematical methodology to compute the total sum of the illogical self-serving behaviors of politicians and their supporters any more than mathematical models can predict the long-term movements of the financial markets.

And, because mathematical models can produce a two-dimension representation of what appears to be a leaf or a shell, does not mean that the model can describe the essential essence of the underlying biologic process which produces the shape or governs the actions of the subject being modeled.

Here is a mathematical puzzle that illustrates my point …

1. It is a given: two terms are set equal to each other X = Y
2.  Multiply both sides of the equation by X (Equals multiplied by equals, the result will still be equal) X^2 = YX

note:  ^ the caret symbol indicates exponentiation
3.  Subtract Y^2 from each side (Equals subtracted from equals, the results will still be equal) X^2 - Y^2 = XY - Y^2
4.  Using your elementary algebra factor both sides of the equation (X+Y)(X-Y) = Y(X-Y)
5.  Divide both sides by X-Y (Equals may be divided by equals and the results will still be equal) X + Y = Y
6.  Since X = Y, substitute X for Y Y + Y = Y
7.  Divide both sides by Y 1 + 1 = 1
PROOF 2 = 1

Every step of our procedure is completely logical and appear to be correct. Of course, common sense tells you that in the real world two cannot possibly equal one.

So what’s the problem?

For those of you with mathematical backgrounds, you may have noticed that in step five, we divided both sides by X-Y. If X = Y, X – Y = 0 … which is a mathematical no-no that produces infinite results.

So why is this important …

First, this exercise is to demonstrate a mathematical concept to a squirrelly high-IQ teenager who just graduated from the 8th grade named Natalie.

And second, it is a reminder that mathematical models, especially complex models purporting to describe some aspect of nature or human behavior can contain errors related to the  input data or in the underlying assumptions of the models themselves. Errors which are not immediately apparent. Thus creating results which only appears to match the physical results for a given time frame. If the current global climate models work so well, why is it that they can’t be back-tested over significant time frame to yield results which are consistent with the observed data.

Bottom line …

Models are useful for studying that which cannot be readily observed or manipulated. But blindly accepting the output of mathematical models as a substitute for scientific fact is not only idiotic, it becomes exponentially dangerous when politicians use the results to make public policy to drive an ideological agenda.

Just as mathematical models have failed to predict the stock market or have created chaos in the nation’s economy, we should have little or no expectation that mathematical models can describe and/or predict global climate changes.

Or as most data processors know: garbage in, garbage out.

LEGISLATIVE CRIMINALITY: Global Warming Amendment dropped on desks at 3:00 a.m. for vote later in the day ... (updated)

THE GREATEST HOAX IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES IS PERPETRATED BY A NEGLIGENT HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES -- SHOULD PROVE THE DEMOCRATS ARE UNFIT FOR OFFICE ...

Republican Traitors ...  The eight Republicans that joined the corrupt and complacenet democrats to perpetrate this Obamanation of a bill should be severely sanctioned for selling out the American public.

Original Blog Entry ...

In my opinion it is criminal to drop a 300-page amendment on a legislator’s desk at 3:00 a.m. and demand a vote the same day.

“House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) slowed Democrats’ attempt to pass a sweeping climate-change legislation Friday evening, reading page-by-page through a 300-page Democratic amendment before allowing a roll call vote.”

“It was a House version of a Senate filibuster – and a way to protest the addition of the 300-page managers’ amendment at 3 a.m. Friday.”

“Republicans say Democrats are ramming their climate-change legislation through the House without enough time for members to read the bill — let alone to understand it — all in violation of their promises about creating a more transparent legislative process.”

“Rep. Joe Barton (R-Tex.), running the debate for his party, asked repeatedly Friday afternoon if there was even a copy of the current version of the bill anywhere in the House chamber. Democratic Rep. Ellen Tauscher – sitting in the speaker’s chair although she’s already been confirmed as Obama’s undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security — repeatedly dodged the question.”

Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), one of the bill’s sponsors, finally rose to say that a single copy of the current version of the bill was available at the speaker’s desk and on the Internet, which members would have to leave the floor to access.”  <Source>

In my opinion it is criminal to lock out legislators on the other side of the aisle who represent more than 45% of the voting public from participating in the creation of legislation. But it is even more criminal to engage in shenanigans that prevent members from serving the best interests of their constituents.

What we know …

Largest power grab by a political party in the history of the United States.

Largest tax increase by a political party in the history of the United States.

Largest potential loss of jobs attributable to a political party in the history of the United States.

Most legislators did not read the very legislation they are passing.

This disdain and disregard for the American taxpayer/consumer/citizen is unprecedented. And it is being perpetrated by far-left liberal democrats.

Plan for the future ...

House Majority Leader Harry Reid proves my point ...

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D- Nev.) will not commit to giving senators and the public a full week to read and review the final version of a health-care reform bill before he holds a final vote on it."

"Reid confessed at his Thursday news briefing that he did not have “a lot of time” to read the 1,071-page stimulus bill before voting on it in February. He was unapologetic, however, about the way Congress rushed that bill through before it could be reviewed by senators and the public, and declined to commit to giving senators and the public at least a week to read the final version of health-care reform bill before calling a vote on it." <Source: CNSNews.com>

Taxing YOUR healthcare plan, but exempting the unions … democrats void Constitution – again?

On May 1, 2009, a symbolic day in Marxist politics, I wrote a blog entry titled: “Another conspiracy theory: How Obama can use healthcare to grow the unions ...

Just another one of my evil little thoughts …

The conspiracy?

Now for the conspiracy – is it possible that an arrangement may be made between the government and the unions to allow union members, including government employees, to be treated differently than ordinary citizens as part of a negotiated union health plan. This would drive union membership through the stratosphere as people sought to become union members as an act of medial self-defense.”

“It’s a hell of a conspiracy and possibly something for the plot of a novel. But knowing the almost nuclear-strength bond between democrats and the unions, not out of the realm of possibility or probability. Especially since the governments at local, state and federal levels have treated union members under contract different from other workers in terms of “protected jobs and/or minimal layoffs.”

So why am I not surprised when Bloomberg.com reports …

“Unions’ Health Benefits May Avoid Tax Under Senate Proposal”

“The U.S. Senate proposal to impose taxes for the first time on ‘gold-plated’ health plans may bypass generous employee benefits negotiated by unions.”

“Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, [D-MT]the chief congressional advocate of taxing some employer-provided benefits to help pay for a $1 trillion overhaul of the U.S. health system, says any change should exempt perks secured in existing collective-bargaining agreements, which can be in place for as long as five years.”

The exception, which could make the proposal more politically palatable to Democrats from heavily unionized states such as Michigan, is adding controversy to an already contentious debate. It would shield the 12.4 percent of American workers who belong to unions from being taxed while exposing some other middle-income workers to the levy.”

Clearly the Marxist democrats playing the “CLASS” card and reinforcing the struggle between “workers” and “THE MAN” …

I can’t think of any other aspect of the individual income tax that treats benefits of different people differently because of who they work for,” said Chris Edwards, director of tax policy studies at the Cato Institute, a Washington research group that often criticizes Democrats’ economic proposals. Edwards said the carve-out ‘smacks of political favoritism.’”

Baucus is proposing to tax Americans whose health insurance is valued at a higher rate than what is offered to federal employees. About 40 percent of insured Americans have costlier benefits, and Baucus has said he is trying to set the level at which taxes would be imposed high enough so fewer people are affected.”

Shredding the Constitution …

Clearly the plan to avoid taxing union members is unconstitutional, but it is indicative of the democrats unholy alliance with the unions that are threatening to create a “special” class of government worker and achieve an unconstitutional influence over our legislators which was never imagined by our Founding Fathers.

Politicians, on both sides of the aisle, have been playing fast and loose with the Constitution for years. They will readily admit, as does Barney Frank, that they are exercising their prerogative as legislators to craft legislation which is not specifically authorized in the Constitution. Another reason that the democrats require activist judges to sit on the United States Supreme Court bench which must decide on the Constitutionality of legislation.

There is but one answer …

We need to take back our government from the democrats and others who are attempting a bloodless coup d'état that hands our government over to the far-left socialists, Marxists and Communists all to secure personal political power, prestige and profits.
