Senator "Schmuck Schumer:" The People Don't Care
Could it be that the Senate’s liberal cheerleader has it right for a change? That the American people simply don’t care about the democrat pork included in the democrat stimulus bill?
In his own words …
“And let me say this to all of the chattering class that so much focuses on those little tiny – yes – porky amendments. The American people really don’t care.”
The only Senator who is said to have tanked a bank …
Here is the Senator whose involvement with IndyMac Bank caused such a massive run on the bank’s assets, that the bank was declared unsound. Here is a Senator who other politicians fear, lest they be trapped between him and the nearest camera. Here is a raving liberal who occasionally gets it right.
Do Americans care about their country, their economy?
We know of three Republicans who have apparently sold out their country, their constituents and there party to join the democrats in putting forth one of the most massive steps to increased government control in the history of the United States.
- Arlen Specter (R-PA)
- Olympia Snowe (R-ME)
- Susan Collins (R-ME)
Voting for a significant turn towards a larger government with a self-sustaining bureaucracy that can vote against the wishes of the people and for their own benefits. A significant turn towards government control of your lives through the control of health care. A significant control of your money through higher taxes. And a significant turn towards the continued balkanization of our nation for the benefit of our enemies.
Who cares about the country?
We know the blacks apparently don’t care as they voted en masse for “their candidate” along racial lines. Disproportionately participants in entitlement programs, they voted to sustain the flow of funds to their neighborhood activists and the democrat party. Both of which sells them out in exchange for “walking around money” each and every election. The prevailing opinion that “it’s our turn” permeated the campaign.
We know that the democrats don’t care. They think Obama is the second coming: the man that will help them restore political power for the next one hundred years. It has always been about political power and money. Democrats who were so busy insulating themselves from the consequences of their actions by their backroom deals, that they ignored the rise of creeping socialism and other social ills.
We know many Republican’s don’t care – they were sickened by the actions of George Bush and his failure to fight back against the democrat barrage. And others who chose to stay home rather than vote for John McCain, the RINO (Republican In Name Only) who portrayed himself as a populist leader who worked across the aisle and brought people together.
Obama, true to form: style over substance?
We are scarcely a month into Obama’s “On the Job Training” session and we found that he is – as was suspected – an empty suit which can be manipulated by certain radical elements in his party. A Trojan Horse which has been brought inside the gates to precipitate our downfall with government measures which will strip the fruits of our hard labor for those who choose not to work; ration our healthcare availability to insure only those who are insulated by wealth, power, position or connection to the bureaucracy receive what they require before they die of their malady.
Is there any hope?
According to my best friend, “we are doomed.” What has happened is unlikely to be reversed and our country will continue its downward decline.
Me, I am more optimistic.
As for the stimulus bill … there is some hope that the conference committee which reconciles the differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill might mitigate some of the damage. But don’t count on it.
As for Obama … there is the hope that the Republicans can regroup by 2010 and mount a campaign which destroys the democrat majority in Congress and offers legislation which repeals certain laws that were enacted by the democrats and signed into law by Obama. In this way, some of the checks and balances will be restored.
Unfortunately, it appears that giving $4 BILLION to community activists like ACORN who was allegedly responsible for massive voter fraud and the disruption of elections might be enought to corrupt the 2010 and 2012 elections.
As for the Supreme Court … if Obama is able to tip the court to the liberal side, the democrats, also known as the party of lawyers, whose wins are often in the courts – especially for positions that cannot be won at the ballot box – must be held in check by a Congress that is able to draft counter-legislation which satisfies the requirements of the Constitution.
The last bulwark …
But the last bulwark of sanity remains our nation’s law enforcement agencies and courageous prosecutors. Although we can expect a hyper-partisan Department of Justice under Eric Holder, they can be sued in a court of law to do the right thing. The game swings both ways. And considering the amount of special interest pork in this stimulus bill, you can count on greedy and corrupt democrats to step over the line and commit egregious violations of the law as they attempt to manipulate the system for their personal advantage. As the day follows the night, the inherent characteristics of machine democrats makes them susceptible to felonious behavior – and that is something that can be used to hold a creeping cancer in check, until the situation can be remedied by electing honest and honorable people to both sides of the aisle.
It’s up to you!
If Chuck, the schmuck, Schumer is right and the American people really do not care about what is happening with the government, my best friend is absolutely correct: we are doomed. However, if we all pull together to start electing honest, honorable and competent leaders, Barack Obama will only serve as a reminder, as does Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, that when it comes to democrat ethics, morality and decency: “it’s words, only words.”
I am heading into work – hopefully not pounding the dash as I listen to Sean Hannity and others as I DJ across the AM band.
Be well and be safe.
