The United Nations cautions about population growth and global warming. The vegans and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) caution against eating meat. Now the Marxist-infiltrated environmental movement cautions against eating meat as a solution to global warming.
It would be laughable if these fringe loony numbnuts were not able to influence governments and obtain serious media attention with their pathetic ranting.
The latest example of stupidity comes from the AFP which reports …
“Hamburgers are the Hummers of food in global warming”
“When it comes to global warming, hamburgers are the Hummers of food, scientists say.”
Question: the same scientists who say ignore the variability of the solar output and the orbital dynamics of the Earth and concentrate on our theory that CO2 is responsible for global warming? The same scientists who advocate a political solution to the problem by enlarging government, raising taxes and requiring citizens to give up a portion of the God-given freedoms?
“Simply switching from steak to salad could cut as much carbon as leaving the car at home a couple days a week.”
“That's because beef is such an incredibly inefficient food to produce and cows release so much harmful methane into the atmosphere, said Nathan Pelletier of Dalhousie University in Canada.”
“Pelletier is one of a growing number of scientists studying the environmental costs of food from field to plate.”
Pelletier appears to be one of those scientific leeches who has managed to attract funding for his theories and thus has every reason to promote his viewpoint in spite of the physical fact that everything in this universe has some form of energy cost. The real question is a simple one: is man-made global warming a politically-correct hoax drummed up by activists with an agenda of self-interest and exactly what would be man’s theoretical contribution to the energy loss/gain in our ecosystem. Something which cannot be measured any more than scientists can measure the temperature at the core of the Earth.
“By looking at everything from how much grain a cow eats before it is ready for slaughter to the emissions released by manure, they are getting a clearer idea of the true costs of food.”
“The livestock sector is estimated to account for 18 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and beef is the biggest culprit.”
I have a question: in times of little industrialization, buffalo herds were said to be larger than the domestic cow herds of today – where was the global warming? Or are they selling this particular story as just another input, along with power plant emissions, towards a tipping point to planetary catastrophe?
“Even though beef only accounts for 30 percent of meat consumption in the developed world it's responsible for 78 percent of the emissions, Pelletier said Sunday at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.”
“That's because a single kilogram of beef produces 16 kilograms carbon dioxide equivalent emissions: four times higher than pork and more than ten times as much as a kilogram of poultry, Pelletier said.”
“If people were to simply switch from beef to chicken, emissions would be cut by 70 percent, Pelletier said.”
Who the hell is Pelletier to say how much meat should be consumed by any citizen of this world? It appears that Pelletier is one of those “nanny state” socialists who want to dictate the details of your life – all for the good of the planet.
“Another part of the problem is people are eating far more meat than they need to.”
" ‘Meat once was a luxury in our diet," Pelletier said. ‘We used to eat it once a week. Now we eat it every day.’"
“If meat consumption in the developed world was cut from the current level of about 90 kilograms a year to the recommended level of 53 kilograms a year, livestock related emissions would fall by 44 percent.”
Recommended by WHO? (For those who don’t get the pun who = the United Nations World Health Organization.)
" ‘Given the projected doubling of (global) meat production by 2050, we're going to have to cut our emissions by half just to maintain current levels,’ Pelletier said.”
Projected doubling? Is this more of the United Nations population growth nonsense. The very people who were forced to admit that their population growth numbers were poppycock because world population growth was not a linear function and was more a direct effect of the availability of assets (food, water, shelter, etc.) than anything else.
"’Technical improvements are not going to get us there.’”
How can this numbnuts scientist make such a stupid statement? It by “there” he means a reduction in the carbon dioxide emissions of an industrialized world, one need only consider, heaven forbid, the widespread use of nuclear technology. But then again, the anti-American, anti-war, anti-nuke and anti-population Marxists, communists and anarchists hate nuclear energy as it is sustainable, cost-effective and reduces America’s independence on the rest of the world which desperately piggybacks off our innovation and labor.
“That's why changing the kinds of food people eat is so important, said Chris Weber, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania.”
“Food is the third largest contributor to the average US household's carbon footprint after driving and utilities, and in Europe - where people drive less and have smaller homes - it has an even greater impact.”
“The average US household contributes about five tons of carbon dioxide a year by driving and about 3.5 tons of equivalent emissions with what they eat, he said.”
They do love that word “equivalent.” But they tend to misuse it when they try to equate apples and oranges, or more specifically hamburgers and natural phenomena like global climate change.
Consider the limousine liberals with their multiple mansions, large cars, yachts and private planes – those that are telling us it is “better for us” to become vegetarians and reduce our carbon footprints. Message to the Barbra Streisands of this world: you first! To the scientists who advocate a political agenda: sellouts! And to the politicians who have created this current mess: time to get a real job that produces more than bullshit and bravado.
What can YOU do?
Recognize that the real problems in this world are often created and hyped by those who profit from the problem. That the very same people need to create an artificial crisis and panic to rise above the noise level of other “crazy chatter” and to urge prompt action which benefits their cause.
Whether it is the weather, your lifestyle or what you eat, someone wants to control your life for their personal and professional profit. There is absolutely no scientific proof that man can affect the natural variability of the weather.
And while I am ranting about the “nanny state,” and the infiltration of Marxists, communists and anarchists into the environmental movement … I think it is crazy to stop growth and achievement to preserve dying species which serve no useful purpose. To severely cut the water to Southern California to save the delta smelt is a ludicrous example of our enemies, both foreign and domestic, using our own laws against us to cripple our economy and bring further havoc to our country. Perhaps to strengthen communist/Marxist countries who are at a significant disadvantage when compared to the United States.
A warning: grab my hamburger and I will stick a fork in your hand. Do it twice and the results will be catastrophic to your well-being.
It is time to re-establish America as the land of the individual and not of the collective. To reinforce the idea that politicians are appointed and work for us. We need to take back our country from the crazies and lazies.
