GUN CONTROL: AN OBJECT LESSON FOR THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE

GAME ON: THE LEFT WING MEDIA TRIES TO TOPPLE SARAH PALIN

One can just imagine the teeth-gnashing and  sputtering inarticulate behavior of the left wing media who had unofficially elected Barack Obama to the Presidency of the United States. An empty suit cast in the role of the anti-Bush candidate who would restore our standing with the world’s governments and restore all of the personal liberties allegedly trampled by the Administration under the guide of a phony “war on terror.”

The media would dwell endlessly on anti-Bush themes while overlooking the fact that Obama was an empty suit; offering only the tired rhetorical prescriptions of far-left liberals: free healthcare for everyone, more government control over those evil corporations and solutions to a myriad of financial problems dragging our country down. All fully funded by a modest tax increase on the wealthy – everyone else would receive a tax break.

The media was complicit in not asking difficult questions of Obama or not so subtlety hinting that an attack on America’s first Black presidential candidate must surely be the product of institutional racism. Add to that the idolatry of the symbolism that produced, at least in one media pundit, a tingling in his legs. They were all giddy with the anticipation that one of their own would be elected and soon replace the modern version of the evil empire, also known as the Bush Administration.

Enter the deal breaker …

Imagine the angst of the media as they were forced to deal with the unimaginable: a candidate whose very characteristics; and one might argue, unsuitability of office, forced the media to confront the reality of an Obama candidacy. That Obama’s credentials and background were as thin as the new candidate on the block.

Suddenly the media was forced, yes forced, to confront the fact that Candidate Obama was something closer to a zero than a hero. A candidate who went to a prestigious law school, but did not practice law. A candidate who headed the equally prestigious Harvard Law review and yet authored not a single scholarly article. A candidate who sat in his State’s legislature and voted “Present” rather than go on the record with the traditional “Yay or Nay.” An empty suit who briefly sat in the Senate and yet authored no legislation or sponsored no significant bills. A b-ball playing “go along to get along” politician who was coasting through life on his charisma, oratorical skills and a telegenic personal. An ever his oratorical delivery was flawed, requiring the use of TelePrompTers to keep the content flowing. A George Clooney clone, who with the right scripted words and delivery, could fake sincerity and be worthy of the government’s equivalent of an Oscar – the Presidency.

A double edged sword …

Reporting on the facts is a double-edged sword: in order to report in a fair and balanced matter, you need to include the bad with the good. Something that can be extremely damaging to a candidate who is more about smoke and mirrors than they are about substance. In the media’s efforts to tear down the new Vice Presidential candidate, they were forced with having to report the structural weaknesses in their their anointed choice for the next political messiah.

Moving beyond the facts …

But not all media coverage is provided by unbiased reporters operating under long-known and respected journalistic standards. There are those whose opinions, for whatever made them newsworthy, are sought as commentary on life’s vagaries and one’s passage through them. Commentators who were allowed, under generally accepted journalistic standards, to say what they felt – no matter how outrageous, biased and totally wrong it may be. The darlings of the far-left because they were allowed to concentrate on feelings without having to pay strict attention to the facts.  In fact, the only requirements for a commentator are: one, to be presentable and two, to write provocative or interestingly enough to attract the widest possible audience.

The backlash …

Americans, the kind that do not live in Malibu or Manhattan, that inhabit what the media derogatively  refers to as “fly over land,” have an innate sense of both responsibility and fair-mindedness.

So it was understandable when the Vice Presidential candidate was rudely attacked in the media that middle America would respond. Against both the Northeastern elites and their sycophantic media.

But it all came to a head when the media got personal and publicized the rantings of the failed feminists who have attempted to control the debate for years. The very people commentator Rush Limbaugh, the scourge of the far-left, playfully characterized as femiNazis. Those that attempted to dictate what women were to do, say and think – based upon their own rather bizarre movement’s commandments.

And now they were faced with their worst nightmare: a conservative woman  who broke barriers, has a record of solid achievement, created her own power base which was not ceded by the male establishment and appeared to be successfully balancing home and work with great success. Their worst fear: a competent woman of achievement in an attractive package.

Someone who must be destroyed on the world’s stage lest the people see that the feminist movement, as developed mostly by mostly unattractive women with hairy armpits, was a hollow-shell. Another far left “don’t do as I do, do as I say” to prevent the disenfranchisement of ugly women in a world which responds mainly to celebrity-quality good looks.

And how galling it must be for the unofficial political leader of the feminists, the rather unstylish power-hungry Hillary Clinton to see another woman break the glass ceiling. To completely shatter all preconceptions and project power in an attractive package.

The attacks …

It seemed like everybody had a vested interest in destroying Sarah Palin: the far-left political establishment, their complicit left-leaning media cohorts and those unelected feminists who became the unofficial arbiters of womanhood.

From the Wall Street Journal …

“Mrs. Palin's emergence caused a spasm in American feminism. Caste and class have always been ammunition in the very Eastern seaboard women's movement, and now they were (so to speak) loading for bear. Sally Quinn felt a mother of five had no business being vice president. Andrea Mitchell remarked that "only the uneducated" would vote for Mrs. Palin. "Choose a woman but this woman?" wrote Baltimore Sun columnist Susan Reimer, accusing Sen. McCain of using a Down's syndrome child as qualification for the VP spot.”

Snarky comments all by hypocritical media hags incensed because it is not their candidate getting the attention and a candidate who may very well, in four years, challenge a chaotic and corrupt Hillary Clinton to become the first Woman President of the United States.

And, if turnabout is fair play, might one question Andrea Mitchell on her husband’s activities in almost singlehandedly creating today’s current financial crisis. Mitchell is married to former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan whose then-studied inarticulateness moved markets and whose monetary policy of artificially low interest rates is often given credit for sparking the meltdown of the mortgage industry which created our current economic woes. However, the fair-minded among us would never make that linkage or stoop to making “stupid comments” based on our  “uneducated” acceptance of Sarah Palin as a suitable vice presidential candidate.

“All the shrapnel has so far been counterproductive. The mudslinging tabloid journalism—is Mrs. Palin the mother or grandmother of her Down's baby?—only raised her profile to a point where viewers who would never dream of watching a Republican vice-presidential acceptance speech tuned in.”

“US” Magazine – Just who is “US?”

Capture9-7-2008-1.01.14 PM

  • Under attack, admits daughter, 17, is pregnant
  • Investigated for firing of sister’s ex-husband
  • Mom of five: New embarrassing surprises
  • And the most egregious headline: Babies, Lies & Scandal

To be sure, the publication wanted to produce a “sell out” issue, but one must question the misleading cover art used to provoke interest as well as controversy. Playing by the tabloid rules, all is fair in war and self-promotion.

But the cover did, to some fair-minded readers, provoke a strong enough reaction to force the cancellation of thousands of paid subscriptions as a protest against the sensational and obviously biased coverage of Sarah Palin.

What can YOU do?

Give Sarah Palin a fair hearing. Here she is, a relatively normal – if such thing can be said about any person in political life – who presents the American people with their first opportunity to overcome the elitists, the politicians with their personal power, prestige and profit motives, the special interests which have thoroughly corrupted our government and set the stage for a diminution of our personal liberties and freedoms.

You do not have to agree with her opinions and positions, or those of John McCain, but you must consider the alternatives presented by Barack Obama and Joseph Biden – establishment representatives of the far-left who believe in more government control, larger government, more taxes and a reduction in personal liberty as they honor the Marxist idea that the collective rights of  the people trump the rights of the individual … and that people are too stupid to govern themselves and require a benevolent ruling elite to assist them in achieving fulfillment of their purpose.

Personally I believe that both political parties are corrupt and both have done much to damage the United States. Therefore, I respectfully suggest that you move beyond party politics and the obvious manipulation of the media and vote your pocketbook. Avoid a more restrictive government and higher taxes – which will spiral the economy into a real depression.

Discuss the political, social and financial status of the United States with your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Urge them to vote conservatively. It is time to take back our government.

I am voting for the McCain-Palin ticket. One, because they are most likely to provide a more responsible stewardship of the United States than the far-left who is already considering how they plan to parse power, privilege and profits to the hyphenated-American factions who have supported their fragile coalition if they assume power.

Bush was about 24/7 campaigning for the next victory. It is precisely this attitude that is crippling U.S. politics. We can break this cycle with McCain and Palin. McCain is unlikely, due to age, run for a second term. And in four years, a more experienced Palin can stand on her own, if she wishes, to seek the Presidency of the United States against all qualified challengers. By then, Barack Obama may have achieved some relevant experience to allow him to, once again, throw his hat into the ring.

The most important thing is to educate yourself about the candidates and VOTE. Be sure you understand that the future of the United States is at stake and your vote may be one that affects your life in the years to come. Do the right thing.
