MAKING ME MAD... LIES ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA TERM LIMITS PROPOSITION 93

Proposition 93 -- the issue

This is a proposition designed to mislead the voters into extending the legislative terms of Fabian Nunez (under investigation) and Don Perata (under investigation) and selected other legislators who would be "termed out" of office unless this proposition passes. The consequences of which would allow those who are associated with the current chaos and corruption in the California Government to keep their powerful and cushy jobs -- even when the people said that "term limits" need to be enacted. This is an end run around the people.

Another misleading mailer...

Another misleading mailer arrived in my mailbox today. This one from some high-minded sounding organization called "Citizens for Accountability and Legislative Reform" whose address is given as 555 Capitol Mall - Suite 440. A commercial building located within shouting distance of the California's State Capitol  Building and which serves law firms, consultants and corporations who mostly pander to the elected officials or who need to conduct business with state government.

So who are some of these fine upstanding concerned citizens?

  • Charter Communications (St. Louis, MO)
  • California State Council Of Service Employees Issues
  • Committee (Sacramento, CA)
  • Service Employees International Union (SEIU) (Washington, DC)
  • American Federation Of State County And Municipal Employees (AFSCME) (Washington, DC)
  • PG&E Corporation (San Francisco, CA)
  • Comcast (Englewood, CO)
  • Youngs Market Company (Orange, CA)
  • California Cable & Telecommunications Association Pac (Oakland, CA)
  • California Professional Firefighters Ballot Issues Committee (Sacramento, CA)
  • California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (CSLEA) 1m Governors Fund (Sacramento, CA)
  • Southern California Edison (Rosemead, CA)
  • California State Council Of Laborers Issues PAC (Sacramento, CA)
  • Steinberg For Senate 2006 (Sacramento, )
  • Members Voice Of The State Building Trades (Sacramento, CA)
  • California State Employees Association Initiative Committee (Sacramento, CA)
  • E & J Gallo Winery (Modesto, CA)
  • Steinberg For Senate 2006 (Sacramento, )
  • California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges And Hearing Officers In State Employment (Case) PAC (Sacramento, CA)

Looks like the big money boys whose influence needs to be felt in the legislature to promote their own special interests.

The mailer:

Lead with a sympathetic and unassailable figure...

The Voice of Experience

The mailer starts off with a picture of what appears to be an older firefighter and the tagline reads "The Voice of Experience." After all who does not respect a firefighter for their often heroic efforts in saving lives and property.

"California firefighters and police officers are leading the fight for experienced leadership in Sacramento"

Again, fine people represented by corrupt organizations who want to continue plundering the state budget for their own "union" coffers. And if by "experienced leadership," one needs to ask experienced in what: profligate spending in favor of the unions and special interests? Or legislators wise in the workarounds to disguise chaos, corruption and general ineffectiveness?

Lying through their teeth...

Yes on 93 means accountability -- better oversight of our tax dollars

This proposition does nothing for accountability or better oversight of our tax dollars -- these are the clowns that got us into trouble with their profligate spending.

Yes on 93 means better representation -- more problem-solving, less time wasted on politics

Better representation for who? The illegal aliens? The special interests? With this group it is all about politics and pandering to the special interests.

Yes on 93 means real reform -- lifetime limits on legislators' terms

There are already term limits imposed on the legislature -- this is the end-run around those limits.

The dishonest endorsements...

"I have always supported the concept of term limits, but I also feel that legislators need the time to gain experience in office to be effective. That is why I think the reforms in Proposition 93 are sound."

Jim Brulte, Senate Republican Leader (ret.)

Let us see what Jon Fleischman has to say in his FlashReport analysis about Jim Brulte...

"Since his departure from the State Legislature, our friend Senator Brulte has been quite successful in his career providing strategic advice and counsel to companies and other interests trying to succeed in California's over-taxed and over-regulated climate.  Brulte, with his large Rolodex and good mind for policy issues, no doubt serves his clients well in his role as a principal at the high profile firm California Strategies.  To be quite blunt about it, Jim's firm really has to maintain a positive relationship with the often bad-tempered Senate President Don Perata, and the ever-petulant Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez.   So with virtually everyone who is anyone in the GOP coming out strongly against Proposition 93, "The Big Lie" measure that would allow Perata to serve four more years, and Nunez six more, I have no doubt that some not-so-subtle pressure was applied to Brulte to endorse the measure."

Brulte, it appears is a man, a Republican, of convictions who votes HIS pocketbook and cares not a whit about yours. A PAID hired gun selling out whatever prestige accrued to his former office to the democrats and their attempt to bypass the existing California term limits legislation.

About Brulte's claim that legislators need time to gain experience... look what that experience and expertise has brought us: chaos, corruption and a historic budget deficit that is not linked to repairing or replacing our crumbling infrastructure -- but spent pandering to employee unions, special interests and providing social, healthcare, education and welfare to illegal aliens who knows that Fabian Nunez represents them before he even thinks of the citizens of California.

And on and on ...

Another endorsement by a past president of a public service union and a list of unions and associations that support the measure. Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah....

All dishonest and, quite frankly, disheartening.

What can YOU do?

Recognize deceit and deception in the political process where politicians lie to the people to secure an advantage for themselves and their friends before they even begin to think about the average citizen.

Clean up California's political cesspool, VOTE NO ON PROP. 93

Now is the time to vote these corrupt and chaotic bastards out of office.

Do not vote for any candidate or current politician who is willing to subvert the safety, security, sovereignty and economic strength of the United States or limit an individual's right of self-defense for their personal philosophy, power, prestige or profits.
