FAT CAT CALIFORNIA POLITICIANS WANT TO SCREW YOU: VOTE "NO" ON CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 93
UPDATE: 02-01-08 THE PEOPLE WIN -- OLD TIMERS "TERMED OUT!"
Proposition 93 -- Yes 46.6% [3,058,763] No 53.4% [3,504,726] Map
In the only real win of the Super Tuesday Propositions, the people win big as the old timers are "termed out." This will greatly affect the wacky, corrupt and often socialistic nature of both the California Assembly and Senate. The other propositions that could have helped Californians and were defeated include Proposition 91 - limitation on use of fuel tax to solve budget deficit problems and Propositions 94/95/96/97 which gave Indian Gaming Operations benefits in return for a pittance in revenue and removed the state audit requirements so the Indians can now tell the state how much money they made.
UPDATE: 2-01-08 From the Sacramento Bee...
The most malevolent politician in California is upping the ante to insure that he remains in power...
"With one weekend left until voters decide the fate of the ballot measure that will decide the fate of his political career, Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez is going all in to support Proposition 93. Financially, that is."
"The speaker has deposited $700,000 from his Committee to Protect California's Future ballot measure account since Wednesday to help the Yes on 93 campaign. That brings his total direct donations to the measure to $1.09 million."
I wonder if anyone will notice that the fund contributed for one cause are being misspent for another.
"The measure would extend Núñez's stay in Sacramento by up to six more years, while limiting future legislators to a total of 12 years -- which could be served all in one house, compared to the current six years in the Assembly and eight in the Senate."
There could be more to come.
"That Núñez-controlled ballot measure account still has approximately $1.3 million in the bank. Plus, Núñez's reelection campaign committee had a balance of $5.1 million at the end of 2007."
UPDATE: 1-31-08 From the Sacramento Bee...
The Sacramento Bee has disclosed the names of the sponsors of television advertising many of whom may have tried to circumvent disclosure per a suggestion by Fabian Nunez...
"Of the 17 Democratic legislators who have contributed to Proposition 93, only Assembly Democrats Karen Bass and Ted Lieu gave $50,000. Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, in October, asked members of his Democratic caucus to give slightly less than that, $45,000, to the term limits initiative. Six legislators have chipped in exactly that -- $45,000."
"Not a random figure, perhaps. Donors of $50,000 risk having to disclose their names in campaign advertisements. If numerous folks hit that threshold, ads must list the top two, according to the state Fair Political Practices Commission."
"So, you won't spot their names on TV ads, but the $45,000 donors are ... Senate Democrat Darrell Steinberg of Sacramento, and Assembly Democrats Mike Eng of Monterey Park, Alberto Torrico of Newark, Dave Jones of Sacramento, Fiona Ma of San Francisco and Hector de la Torre of South Gate."
Original story ....
Presented here are two commercials that tell the truth about the politicians in Sacramento who want to convince you that Proposition 93 shortens term limits when it really extends term limits for a few select "fat cat" politicians. Look at the video and make up your own mind.
As I had previously written...
"All Californians should beware of a ballot initiative to expand terms limits for those who have most screwed up the state and who have voted in favor of compromising California's future healthcare, education and retirement benefits by extending an open hand -- and an open wallet -- to illegal aliens and introducing any number of Whacko bills that cost the taxpayers millions of dollars while producing a minimal return on investment."
"Current law limits legislators to a six year term in the Assembly and an eight year term in the Senate, for a total of 14 years. There is no doubt that this encourages professional politicians to play musical chairs to extend their ability to gain personal power while creating chaos and corruption for Californians."
"While the ballot initiative looks like it reduces the number of overall years that a legislator could serve to 12 from the current 14 years, it is written in a deceptive manner that would allow the state's two most dangerous legislators to serve for another six years. While there are 34 potential legislators who are facing term limits in the 2008 election cycle, the two most dangerous legislators, socialist-pro-illegal alien advocate Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (D-Los Angeles) could serve an additional six years in the Assembly and his equally dangerous cohort, Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata (D-Oakland) could serve another four year term."
"It should be noted that the democrat members of the legislature originally contemplated voting the measure into law, but were unsure that they could get enough support from the other side of the aisle ... hence the use of the initiative process."
See and hear the truth here...
and here...
What can YOU do?
Defeat this deceptive proposition and send the professional legislators who seem to favor Mexico over California packing.
Fight corruption, remove those who are corrupt from office.
Do not vote for any candidate or current politician who is willing to subvert the safety, security, sovereignty and economic strength of the United States or limit an individual's right of self-defense for their personal philosophy, power, prestige or profits.
