Apparently Barack Obama is afflicted with early onset "Clintonitis"
I thought Hillary Clinton was the only democrat who was currently making the story fit the audience. Apparently not! I can forgive someone who has misspoke or got the facts jumbled in the confusion and chaos surrounding a campaign stop. But I must pause and consider what it means when a politician continues to repeat a falsehood to a particular audience after they have been corrected in private, in public and by the media?
According to the Washington Post...
What Obama Got Wrong
WHAT HE GOT WRONG: "I don't want to wake up four years from now and discover that we still have more young black men in prison than in college." -- Barack Obama, rally in Harlem, Nov. 29
"Obama has repeated this false claim to predominantly African American audiences, even after The Washington Post pointed out the mistake to his campaign. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 106,000 African American men ages 18 to 24 were in federal or state prisons at the end of 2005. An additional 87,000 were temporarily held in local jails in mid-2006. According to 2005 census data, 530,000 African American men in this age group were in college. "
"Black male college students outnumber black male prisoners even if the age group is expanded to 30 or 35. The Obama campaign has not responded to several requests for statistical data to support the senator's remarks, and it has not explained a similar claim that he made to an NAACP audience on July 12."
If Obama's outrageous assertion was actually true, you would be more likely to meet a black criminal on the street rather than a black college student. I would think that the black leadership would find this grossly offensive to their sensibilities and take action to correct the erroneous statements of Obama; lest they reinforce the stereotype of young black criminals in our society and further damage the image and reputation of those black citizens who are surviving and thriving within America.
We are living in dangerous times, when there is a clear and present danger from terrorists who believe that their God is directing them to destroy the United States and kill the infidels. When our crumbling infrastructure needs replacing only to find the funds have been frivolously-spent on special interest pork that was of interest to a small segment of the population: the politicians and the clients of special interest lobbyists. When our institutions have been hyper-politicized and radicalized to the point where government grinds to a halt over silly issues. And when we face such a polarized and divided America, that both parties pander to crazies -- all the while hoping to gain that slim margin that will return them to office or keep the present elected officials on the gravy train.
I do not want a presidential candidate who is all about civil rights and race relations in the face of their constitutional duty to first protect the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic. I do not want a candidate who may believe that it "their turn" to plunder the United States treasury on behalf of their constituents. I want an ethical President who can serve the people: all the people, all the time.
What can YOU do?
Elect a president for all of the people. Do not vote for those that are beholden to any particular special interests or those who have a passion which may allow the destruction of the United States while they pursue their "pipe dream" passions for a place in history. As the saying goes, "we have been there and done that."
Do not vote for any candidate or current politician who is willing to subvert the safety, security, sovereignty and economic strength of the United States or limit an individual's right of self-defense for personal power, prestige or profits.
Do not elect someone who will continue the hyper-partisan politics and gamesmanship that has marked our recent elected officials.
