Climate Change Coup d'etat: Stupid Statements from Stupid and/or Corrupt Politicians?

TWO CRAZY FOREIGN POLITICIANS ARRIVE IN NEW YORK AND UNFORTUNATELY ONE OF THEM IS CALIFORNIA'S GOVERNOR -- ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER.

California's jet-setting ego-maniac Governor once again proves that style trumps substance as he addresses the United Nations on climate change (note: this is the new designation for global warming since some scientists,  including NASA's chief climate cheerleader, originally proposed the same cap and credits prescription for "global cooling."

Here are excerpts from the Governator's press release which highlights exactly what he is doing to all Californians, and by extension, the rest of the world.

Video of the Governor

"Putting California’s leadership in the fight against climate change on a world stage, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today gave a speech to official delegates and invited guests of the United Nations."

Thinking  big...

"Earlier this year, Governor Schwarzenegger signed a Memorandum of Understanding with four other states to partner in the fight against climate change, which created the Western Climate Initiative.  The original states included Arizona, California, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington; Utah and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and British Columbia have also since joined.  California has also formed partnerships with Great Britain and the Australian State of Victoria."

It is my impression that Schwarzenegger is trying out the global stage  while preparing to seek either a position as a Senator or another "world class" political position.

If you do not believe this is about the money...

"In October of 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger and New York Gov. George E. Pataki agreed to explore ways to link California's future greenhouse gas emission credit market and the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states’ Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) upcoming market.   RGGI (pronounced ReGGIe) is a cooperative effort by Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states to discuss the design of a regional cap-and-trade program initially covering carbon dioxide emissions from power plants in the region. In the future, RGGI may be extended to include other sources of greenhouse gas emissions, and greenhouse gases other than CO2. Currently, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Vermont are participating in the RGGI effort. "

This would allow a gross polluter to purchase offset credits to mitigate the pollution. The people living in the vicinity of the plant will still die from pulmonary-related diseases, but the global carbon balance bookkeeper will be satisfied. As will those who have made outlandish profits by generating, packaging and marketing the credits. Of course, the entire cost will be passed along to the rate-payers as they compute the cost-of-doing-business and add their own profits.

Results:

  • Polluters - win!
  • Local Residents - Lose!
  • Investors - win!
  • Ratepayers - lose!
  • Politicians - win!
  • Consumers - lose!

Consumer Warning: Fuel Shortages = Rising Prices

"In January of 2007, Governor Schwarzenegger announced the world’s first Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) for transportation fuels that requires fuel providers to reduce the carbon intensity of transportation fuels sold in California. This first-of-its kind standard establishes lasting demand for lower-carbon fuels but without favoring one fuel over another. By 2020 the standard is expected to boost demand for low carbon fuels to over $10 billion per year and for advanced technology vehicles that run on those fuels by 35 times."

Each year Californians are screwed at the gas pump. Coincidently, this gouging coincides with peak driving periods.  This is due to California's stringent gas formulations. Not only do the refineries shut down to re-tool for the winter or summer gas formulations which helps to create and artificial shortage and rising prices, but any gas shortfalls can not be covered using out-of-state gas because it does not meet the standards. The Governor's new initiative is sure to raise not only the price of gas, but also the cars that need to meet qualifying emissions and fuel usage standards. Not to mention trucks and other diesel-powered haulers which are prime sources of pollution. Considering the amount of goods and services produced by California corporations, all prices will be influenced as producers pass along any cost-of-doing-business increases.

More state government control over California's business and energy producers.

"Last year, the Governor signed the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, California’s landmark bill that established a first-in-the-world comprehensive program of regulatory and market mechanisms to achieve real, quantifiable, cost-effective reductions of greenhouse gases. The law will reduce carbon emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2020.  The Governor’s goals also include a reduction of 80 percent below 1990 levels by the year 2050."

There is no guarantee that California's actions will actually influence the local or global climate other than to raise prices: locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. It is also expected that politicians and agency-heads will be able to grandfather certain situations and issue waivers to others. Of course, enforcement is expected to be spotty and politically motivated. This will insure the flow of special interest lobbying funds to politicians -- with no net benefit to California's consumers and citizens.

Social Engineering and Wealth Distribution

"The Governor also signed legislation last year to complete his Million Solar Roofs Plan to provide 3,000 megawatts of additional clean energy and reduce the output of greenhouse gases by 3 million tons, equivalent to taking one million cars off the road. The $2.9 billion incentive plan for homeowners and building owners who install solar electric systems will lead to one million solar roofs in California by the year 2018."

Let see if I have this right: certain taxpayers will be robbed (I mean taxed) so California can give this money to other taxpayers that conform to the wishes of the state. As with all "deals with the devil," we normally see the wealthy exploiting these tax and incentive advantages to subsidize their already profligate lifestyle.

California fights the Feds in order to execute their plans...

"In addition, the Governor is leading the fight to obtain a waiver from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency allowing the implementation of California's stringent tailpipe emissions standards signed into law in 2002. Those standards require a 30 percent reduction in greenhouse gases from the tailpipes of cars and light trucks by 2016, starting with the 2009 model year. 11 other states have approved those standards. Automakers have sought to nullify them, but in April, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and more recently, a federal judge in Vermont has decided in favor of that state's emissions standards, which are modeled on California's. "

California politicians will do anything to tighten the state's   control over its citizens. Especially considering that the California legislature is filled with socialists and 60s-era hippies and open advocates of open borders to turn California into Alto Mexico -- remember ex-Governor and now-State Attorney General Gerry Brown aka "Governor Moonbeam." This is social engineering of the first order.

It is hard to believe that the jet-setting Schwarzenegger is a Republican -- of course, to those who have observed his antics, he will remain a RINO (Republican In Name Only). I still have to check if he flew in on a carbon-spewing private jet with the travel "sponsored" by one of his "special purpose" political entities.  An extreme example of "do as I say, not as I do."

Some of Schwarzenegger's words of wisdom (Courtesy of Reuters) ...

"Rich and poor nations must get over their disagreements about how to fight climate change and forge a new pact to replace the Kyoto Protocol, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said on Monday."

"Speaking at a United Nations conference on global warming, Schwarzenegger urged countries to stop blaming each other for rising temperatures and work together to solve the problem."

"The current stalemate between the developed and the developing worlds must be broken," Schwarzenegger said. "It is time we came together in a new international agreement that can be embraced by rich and poor nations alike."

"Wearing a green tie, the governor told delegates that rich and poor nations have different responsibilities in fighting climate change, but said it was time to stop the blame game."

"The time has come to stop looking back at the Kyoto Protocol," he said. "The consequences of global climate change are so pressing ... it doesn't matter who was responsible for the past. What matters is who is answerable for the future. And that means all of us."

"California is moving the United States beyond debate and doubt to action," he said. "I urge this body to push its members to action also."

"Schwarzenegger has sharply criticized the Bush administration for not doing enough on the issue, while praising European countries for showing leadership and developing an emissions-trading system."

Reuters notes...

"President George W. Bush pulled the United States out of the Kyoto treaty, which requires 36 industrial nations to cut greenhouse emissions by at least 5 percent from 1990 levels by 2012. Bush says Kyoto unfairly burdens rich countries while exempting developing countries like China and India."

"Developing nations say rich states built up their economies without emissions restraints and argue that less-developed countries should have the same opportunity to establish their economies now."

"But as emissions from developing nations such as China and India grow, environmentalists say action by the developed world alone will not be enough to stop the warming trend."

So why does the Governor think this is a pressing problem since climate cycles are not even apparent in the short term -- and most take hundreds of years to observe. This is junk science and economic fraud at best.

So why is California's economy being placed at risk by the Governor so he can appear to be a "globally-thinking" leader? Why must California bear the brunt of a grand social experiment whose results may be either non-existent or not measurable in the next hundred years?

Why does this particular politician praise the European emissions-trading system while those European citizens living next to gross polluters are being poisoned and forced to pay for the privilege?

Perhaps it's because he is an ego-driven maniac where everything is about enhancing his personal power, prestige and profits. Another political whore who masquerades as a Republican while being a RINO (Republican In Name Only).

What can YOU do?

Remember that global warming (climate change) has not been scientifically proven as fact and that man's influence over the forces of nature are exceedingly minute and puny. There is no guarantee that any of the economic plans for carbon caps and offset credits will affect anything in nature other than make the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. The ultimate scheme whose results are measured over hundreds or thousands of years. Long after the politicians and special interests have looted the treasury and converted the taxpayer's hard labor into their personal booty.

Remember, with ego-driven narcissistic politicians it is all about them: their needs, their power, prestige and profits. Only occasionally do you find someone with true patriotic intent like a Ronald Reagan.

We need to stop the current crop of politicians dead in their tracks before they inflict great and grave damage to our economy and military strength. Do not vote for any candidate or current politician who is willing to subvert the safety, security and sovereignty of the United States for personal power, prestige or profits.
